The very first pistol that I actual control of was an Iver Johnson TP22 .22 caliber that looks just like a PPK. I say actual control because it was my Dad’s pistol and he allowed me to keep it in my room at 13, maintain it, buy the ammo for it and properly store it. I didn’t know it at the time but he was testing my level of responsibility for bigger and better things. At 16, I purchased with my own money a S&W 5906 9mm that I ended up carrying in my first law enforcement job for a short time since we had to provide our own firearm. It wasn’t until later that I got solidly into Bond and acquired my first PPK which was an Interarms model which I carried on duty as a back-up and off-duty. I really enjoy these types of stories and feel many times you and I have had very similar paths when it comes to growing up with firearms. I’m still jealous of you working in a gun shop as a teenager when all I did was bag groceries and stock frozen foods! 😂 Great video, sir! Keep ‘em coming!
My first gun was a Walther P99 gen 1. Now I have 2 PPk pistols, one 1939 in 7.65 and the other in 380 and 2 P99as pistols. James Bond had a big influence on me growing up. I used to watch the James Bond box sets with my dad on vhs. Our first ever DVD when those came out was Tomorrow Never Dies, I can't tell you how many times I've seen that movie. What a great trip down memory lane. Thanks for the great content.
I’ve owned two interarms and three S&W’s. Two of the three smiths functioned fine. Both interarms were fine. I qualified for my concealed pistol license with a ppk
I was so thrilled when I was finally able to take ownership of my own PPK. It's a PPK/s .380, post-S&W, in stainless. Its not a screen accurate Bond gun, though that is why I wanted it, however, it is the legend and I was so happy to finally have one of my own.
This same exact model was my first handgun that my dad bought for me while I was in high school. Mine fell under the recall, so I sent it back to S&W and they fixed it up for free. It’s been a greater shooter ever since. Not the most powerful, and doesn’t have a high capacity, but it’s sentimental and tough so I’ll never get rid of it
I too have a wonderful stainless steel S&W Walther PPK, and it is even cooler to me that S&W has moved to my hometown! I regularly carry it in a wonderful shoulder holster just like Bond!
Perfect timing on this. Tomorrow is 10 years to the day that I bought my first pistol, a blued S&W made PPK and I definitely have some similar experiences. Still carry it occasionally in the Vega IB333.
If you watch dr. No you will notice that though they call the pistol a ppk it's actually a walther pp and felix and most everyone else carried it the ppk didnt show up untile from russia with love i was taught to shoot by my father a sharp shooter in the marines on riffle and pistol i ended up buying my first pistol when i turnrd 21 in 85 it was and interarms version licenced to be produced under walthers name a ppk just like bonds i loved it cattied it for years 380 hollow point silver tips where the choice for self defense i took it out last week and it looks just like the day i got it beautiful action blueing hasn't faded not even a scratch best 240$ i ever spent.
The pp series of pistols where so far ahead of there time so innovative i have and early eighties interarms licenced by walther i carried it for years its still looks like the day i bought it i always wished it was german made but interarms built it to german specs and I've never had a problem even now once or twice a year i take it to the range and put a 100 rounds through it there isn't any wear anywhere i can see the bluing is excellent no scratches it's kept me buying walther products today i have a p99 as ppq 45acp tactical and a 22lr suppressable and now i have one of the first pdp released i wish i waited the pro has so many options just the threaded barrel cost me 180$ but i had no idea the pro was comming out but if you have a can you have to have threaded barrels my 45 came with one but my p99 was hard to get one but the ppq 9mm worked fine i did one thing right the rugged obsidian 45 with a piston switch will work on everything threaded half by ywenty eight and with 147 grain sub sonic its like movie quiet ans easy to clean.
@CommandoBond that was great your ending up becoming screen accurate. I'm starting to film a series as I search for my Best James Bond /Tuxedo Gun. Two of my Walther Unboxings made it on Walthers Playlist but unfortunately that is one company I don't have a contact to. I'm interested in your holster doing a vid on it if fits anything I'm getting for this. Also curious what holster was seen on camera for the P99? Thanks
The first gun I ever bought (not gifted or inherited) was a black Arkansas PPK. I liked it so much, I bought a stainless steel one a year later. My stainless steel is my daily driver, but I’ve been mixing it up with the new PD380. Winter gives more options more larger guns. Hard to conceal a larger gun in shorts and a t-shirt, but the PPK fits right in my pocket.
OMG what a brilliant video. I'm looking forward to your videos being in my regular playlist right alongside The Bond Experience and Forgotten Weapons. You're the perfect link between them!
I think it would be interesting to do a video on potential pistols for the next bond, since at least in the new guys first movie I’m guessing he’ll have a more modern offering than a PPK. HK seems to be the go to company (Quantum UMP-9, Skyfall 416, Spectre VP9, No Time to Die MP7) as I suppose they’re less politically controversial, but in my opinion they lack a compact pistol good looking enough for Bond. Perhaps a Beretta?
I still have my original stainless S&W PPK. It has some reliability issues. I’ll never get rid of it because it was a Christmas gift from my parents as well
My first “Bond gun” was a Walther P99. No, it wasn’t a Gen1 as used on screen. It was a P99 AS, but close enough for me. It was sitting in a pawn shop, and I almost feel like I stole it considering what I gave for it. It wasn’t too long after that Walther announced they were discontinuing the P99. I recently purchased a black Walther Arms PPK. Just waiting for it to arrive at my FFL. Very excited!
@@commandobond I'd love for Walther to even just make a PDP with the AS trigger, since that DA/SA style trigger is also the reason I picked the P99 over newer guns that just have a standard trigger with no safety. Though Canik does make a P99 clone that's pretty decent. TP9DA is the one with the unique P99 AS trigger if I recall correctly. Need to get a PPK someday, if only to plink with .380 ACP.
there is absolutely nothing wrong with the Walther PP, PPK, PPK/S series of guns. I have one PP in 32 auto and one Interarms imported PPK/S in 380. and now that they are making he stainless PP in 380 and the stainless PPK in 32 I think I might pick them up for summertime carry. they are small, light and thin . and if I have to resort to hand to hand fighting they don't get in the way. I can easily carry one appendix carry and still throw kicks .and when you carry one in a shoulder holster you don't feel like you have a football under your arm. they are every bit as good today for self defense as they were when they came out back in the day ( 1929-1931, and post 1968).
Wait we’re the same age? Jesus lol i feel unsuccessful now. Shouldn’t have gone into public service…shouldve done whatever you do so I could get all these guns lol

Best high school job out there haha! Love your story here as well, it’s incredible what impact these decisions by parents still have on us today!

Nice! Mine is often in the Galco Executive Shoulder Holster from the Brosnan era!

That’s legendary! Happy 10 years on that man!!
Ppk was the first firearm i purchased 👍
What is stamped on the reverse side of the trigger? You don't know do you?
@68blues why 🤷♂️

Awesome back story Sir. Fellow Bond nerd here.
Welcome aboard!

Thanks Roland! So glad you enjoyed this one! It’s been fun getting into this side of things.
Great story behind the gun. Will be looking forward to future segments about other guns.

Nicely done Caleb.
Thank you Rob!

Something to be said about that kind of history.

Great pair of pistols!!
I own a Walther P99 because of James Bond. Played a lot of games where that was the default pistol. Shame Walther discontinued it.
It had a great run! Long term I’d love to see a resto-Mod of the P99 Gen 1
