A Brief Look at NO TIME TO DIE’s MK18 Mod 0
In NO TIME TO DIE, Bond utilizes a MK18 Mod 0 carbine when raiding Safin’s lair. In this video, we discuss the carbine, its history, and why it’s designed around a silencer.

No Time to Die’s Walther PPK - My First Pistol

In this video, I share the story of my very first pistol, the Smith & Wesson produced Walther PPK - a model that later became 007’s own, and Daniel Craig’s final sidearm in the role.
Why Jack Carr is a Must Read for Bond Fans
Переглядів 1,8 тис.9 місяців тому
Bond fans are in a slump. Simple as that. We are stuck waiting for a new film, or a new book, and little progress seems to be being made on either front. New product collaborations from EON and the official 007 Store, and rough, politically motivated reads like Charlie Higson’s On His Majesty’s Secret Service are hardly enough to keep things cruising along, and while we have so much brilliant c...
Building the 007th PPK Series Pistol at Walther Arms

Welcome to the Commando Bond UA-cam channel! For the very first video - I am so thrilled to share the story of this Walther PPK/S pistol - one i built at Walther Arms USA. What’s more, this is the story of building the 007th PPK Series Pistol ever built by a non-Walther employee. This was a trip I’ll never forget, and the opportunity to share it with you in this way is so exciting. Welcome to t...
Just picked up my first PPK and I finally feel like James Bond lol Cool video!
Great video Commando! Bravo! I own several PPK’s and an PP in 7.65. Always on the lookout for an Interarms Blued PPK in 22! Will look for your book now. Thanks again for an excellent commentary! Bond would approve!
Not a Mk18 because he is British, wanker.
The offset irons on the handguard just looked goofy
Yooo where can I get the book with the cover you showed of him standing in a field holding a rifle, silhouette style ?
@CommandoBond that was great your ending up becoming screen accurate. I'm starting to film a series as I search for my Best James Bond /Tuxedo Gun. Two of my Walther Unboxings made it on Walthers Playlist but unfortunately that is one company I don't have a contact to. I'm interested in your holster doing a vid on it if fits anything I'm getting for this. Also curious what holster was seen on camera for the P99? Thanks
Considering that he's british, the build may have instead been trying to emulate the UKSF L119A1 configuration from Colt Canada used by SAS/SBS/SFSG in the 2000s and still used by Royal Marine Commandos until very recently. Also of note are in the movie he is using offset magpul iron sights, and an Eotech 551.
What they should have done for the movie is attach a grenade launcher where your sights go, slap an eotech on it to use as a vertical foregrip, and then a few more angled BUIS on both sides.
don't always have the thing you want/ a 10.5 M4 is a waste of gunpowder
The amount of dress-up you play is off-putting, but Bond is cool. So fair play.
OMG what a brilliant video! And living in New Jersey I can't go around shooting guns as much as I'd like, but I play the MK18 MOD 0 as my primary when I play Ready or Not with my kids! This video was EXTREMELY relevant to my interests!
Love your content, looking forward to your book! Question, are we sure bond didn’t use a L119A1, it is essentially a UK MOD Mk18 but has a 10” barrel and was issued only to SBS/SAS, the still shots seemed to show his suppressor snugged up against the FSP like the old SF-212 cans used to.
I have a Mk.18 mod 1 that i built up out of an Daniel Defense mk18, great gun out of the box, gets you 80% of the way there. mine's wearing two stamps, SBR and the can. my favorite rifle. friendly advice; the short barrel means the dwell time is too short to reliably cycle the weapon, so the gas port is wider than normal resulting in more gasses being pumped into the system, add a suppressor to that and you've exacerbated the issue to the point you can feel the gasses and powder peppering your face everytime you fire. I'd recommend swapping out the charging handle and bolt carrier group to something that'll help redirect the gas away from your face. for the charging handle i use the radian raptor slim SD, it has vent to push the gases away from your face and my BCG is a LMT that's ported to push gas down out the mag well both mods result in the gasses being pushed out into the mag well (and therefore into the magazines) but it beats peppering your face.
Sounds terrible.
@@TheTrueNorth11 at first it was, it was pretty bad. but once you make the modifications I mentioned above it's a non-issue, problem solved. Runs reliably and no more gass
Great video! This channel is going to blow up, keep making great content!
There's blood splatter on the wall behind you. Clean up your wet work, dude. It's amateurish.
Ppk was the first firearm i purchased 👍
What is stamped on the reverse side of the trigger? You don't know do you?
@68blues why 🤷♂️
So, the Walther Arms website only has the .32 threaded barrels on the PPK/S. I emailed them, and they said they had no plans for a PPK SD. I don't understand why.
Can't believe they did this...then limited it to the 32acp..... The 380 is such a great round suppressed.
I'm thinking about getting the JK 105 ccx for mine
Very cool video! Walther PPK is one of my favorite pistols. Particularly in 7,65mm. Quite an experience that you had to assemble one at Walther Arms. Looking forward to when your book is released.
I’ve been on the fence about getting a PPK, with threaded barrel I’m ordering!
Wait we’re the same age? Jesus lol i feel unsuccessful now. Shouldn’t have gone into public service…shouldve done whatever you do so I could get all these guns lol
Post War 🇺🇸hump back frame
It kills me how people still say things like "US was not technically supposed to be in Cambodia" you mean they were war-criming and you're dancing around the fact
i real wish Walther can make a blued PPKS
3:18 You are correct for centerfire versions. The PPK/S .22 has come standard threaded for a while.
I was so thrilled when I was finally able to take ownership of my own PPK. It's a PPK/s .380, post-S&W, in stainless. Its not a screen accurate Bond gun, though that is why I wanted it, however, it is the legend and I was so happy to finally have one of my own.
Currently have a PP in .32acp, a German .22 PP and a rescued Interarms stamped PPK/S in .22 that somebody either nickel plated (doubtful) or chromed. She’s not a looker, and does need a bit of work, but she shoots well. Also a PPK in .32 that was a pawn shop pickup. Haven’t tested that one yet. Yeah, I got bit by the Bond bug when I was a kid, and From Russia With Love was in the theatres the first time. Yeah, an AR-7 too. Now……where’s my damned briefcase?!?!?!😉
there is absolutely nothing wrong with the Walther PP, PPK, PPK/S series of guns. I have one PP in 32 auto and one Interarms imported PPK/S in 380. and now that they are making he stainless PP in 380 and the stainless PPK in 32 I think I might pick them up for summertime carry. they are small, light and thin . and if I have to resort to hand to hand fighting they don't get in the way. I can easily carry one appendix carry and still throw kicks .and when you carry one in a shoulder holster you don't feel like you have a football under your arm. they are every bit as good today for self defense as they were when they came out back in the day ( 1929-1931, and post 1968).
I absolutely adore the new threaded ppk . On my high to aquire list .
Got your book pre-ordered and just got my PPK/S SD to go with it.
Much appreciated, cheers!
Wow - what a sales pitch at the beginning.... Anywho, it's about time Walther did some threaded PP or PPK pistols.... Finding a threaded PPK barrel - especially in .380 is a nightmare... Oh and I think this dude is wrong - Walther made some .22 threaded PPKs in the recent past - at least here in the USA.. That's the only commercial threaded model that I know of.
That's the PPK/S, and produced by Umarex and imported into the states. This is the first centerfire PPK and PPK/S in the original caliber, the designation that everyone is after.
@@commandobond Thank you sincerely for the comment, info and good video - and congrats on the book!!! 🙂 If I may ask, these new threaded pistols will include the normal PPK frame and the /S version? I personally think the /S frame is an slight abomination but that's just me. And I absolutely love that Walther is doing these in .32 ACP - the best PPK caliber AND the almighty worshipful Bond caliber!!! I've owned and shot a PPK in .380 ACP and it was an awful, snappy recoil and gave me slide bite - which I've never had on any handgun in the last 30 years due to small-ish hands. The .32/7.65mm is perfect for the size and grip of the pistol... It is far more "shootable" for lack of a better word. Sorry I rambled - rant done. (edited for grammatical weirdness)
Finally... a PPK that doesn't use a wooden dowel to mount the suppressor.
What a victory lol
He he he
🤣😂 The wooden dowel was detrimental to accuracy. 🤪
I have not been more excited
Gun laws suck but the silver lining of the 1968 gun control act is that we got the best version of the PPK because of it.
I just got one of the new black Walther PPks in .32. It has got to be the most accurate and easy-to-shoot pistol I own. Bond usually doesn't have a supressor on his ppk, so I don't feel that bad about getting the non threaded one first. Maybe I will save up for the threaded version sometime to have both.
So all positive thoughts on it so far?
@@dlife7427 Yes. The DA trigger is a bit long and takes some getting used to. Most DA/SA guns have around a 4 pound single action and a 8 pound double action trigger. The PPK has a 4 pound SA trigger and a 12 pound DA trigger.
@dancortes3062 I have a prewar PPK but I'm really interested in the new one.
@@dlife7427 The other downside is that they are not blued like the old ones. You can only get a kind of flat black finish. The new ones have bigger sights and a extended beavertail compared to the older ones.
Not completely mythological--the PPK/s in .22 LR comes suppressor-ready from the factory. I really dislike the way external thread protectors look, so I'll be sticking with the black PPK .32 ACP that's been on order since May.
Yeah, the .22LR is a plinker but this is the first true PPK, and in .32 - that's the real mythos here
@@commandobond both the PP and the PPK were available chambered in .22 LR (and .380 ACP) almost from the beginning. Obviously, that can't be said of the PPK/s because it hasn't been around as long. I really like the replica PPs that Walther manufactures in Germany and if I were inclined to spend almost two grand on a gun, which I'm not, I'd order one in .22 LR.
@@HotVoodooWitch that’s correct, but the major point being, the .32 ACP PPK in a suppressor ready factory design has never been available, and primarily thanks to the Bond connection, it’s that magic combination of caliber, model, and silencer that makes this announcement rather exciting.
Been waiting for this for a while. Waited and checked the forum for the new ppk (when Walther brought it back home from Smith). Now I’m definitely picking up a 32 SD and PP in 32.
I wonder how you can tell that Connery's Walther PP in Dr. No was indeed chambered in .380 ACP. If you are referring to the PP model S/N 19174A in .380 ACP that fetched top dollar at auction four years ago, I have some rather disturbing news. The PP in question was manufactured in 1964 and has a corresponding proof mark, which can be seen in the high-resolution photos of the auction. It can be ruled out for sure that this gun was featured in Dr. No (1962).
Well met! That was an origin for much of my research, though it was also referenced as such in other books like "007 the Armoury" - definitely disappointing and yet another example of how many times a gun has been sold under false pretenses.
Brother your website is down right now. Also, do you have bond knife content?
I do on the site! Now back online (crashed due to book traffic)
Definitely a cool idea that'll speed up the process. What happened to your website?
Site crashed with all the book content haha, since resolved!
@commandobond good problem to have! Glad to hear it
First! And I freaking love this! More suppressed pistol content please!
I'd recommend checking out the JK Armament 105ccx suppressor. In its smallest configuration, it's as small as a Bowers Bitty, while utilizing a conventional baffle system. Very Hollywood-esque. It's also capable of running 9x19, not just mouse calibers.
They are so cool! My only complaint is: 1. Made from aluminum 2. Need to run wet for best dB reduction. More of a fancy comp than a supressor?? IMO.
Cool Content bro!! Congrats from Chile 🇨🇱
Do you think we will have these kickstarter rewards before xmas? Girlfriend loves bond and guns. I know she will love it. Congrats!
Thank you!! Unfortunately per the kickstarter notes we do not expect to ship before April 2025.
Did you repurpose an older set of Bakelite grips for the gun in this video, or are they bringing back the mottled brown/black plastic?
As noted in the video, my pistol is a 1967 PPK with a threaded barrel that I did as a custom job. Still awaiting my new production PPK SD! Will certainly do a full review and deep dive video when it lands.
Very happy to see these new guns. I was kinda surprised to find out that, apparently, Bond never used a Stainless PPK in any film. For some reason in my head I was sure he did.
I call it the Archer effect since the cartoon super spy carried a stainless one
A stainless PPK was used in a lot of marketing shots for Casino Royale!
I think Austin Powers did though, and that's just as good!
The Walther PPK is a very solid firearm. It’s reliable and trustworthy. I carried one on my job. Of course, not suppressed. Nice video.
Cheers! Massive fan of the platform naturally.
Lol what job
I’m serious. I carried a Walther PPK on a government job. Nothing to do with the Secret Service.
Big congrats🤗 very very cool book
Thank you!
The second I saw they announced these I searched around and managed to find one of the Black PPK SD's already in stock so I went for it. I've always wanted to suppress my 1966 PPK, but I didn't really want to mess with it so I'm very glad Walther is finally making these PPK SD's. Still trying to decide on what would be the best suppressor for it since there are some smaller dedicated .32 cans out there that might be better suited to the PPK's smaller form factor like the one from ECCO machine.
Brilliant job! I’ve seen the smaller ones but honestly was super impressed with the Spectre 9, and it to me had the bonus of running on most of my pistols without complaint.
The CGS Mod 9SK is a good option. Its rated for 9mm but very short and light. Although probably wider than the ECCO.
