Nothing wrong with the Fram Extra Guard! It along with the AC Duraguard, Mighty Engine Guard (up to 7,500 mile) etc use a special HQ Micro-Glass filter media that is super efficient 98%+ ! A lot of miss conceptions out there, but these filters are fantastic! Long oil change intervals i suggest an Extended Life filter! Full synthetic, high temp gasket and more to go the distance on a 7500+ oil change
Good point! I seen the ramps used and wasn’t sure how stable they’d be. Are they pretty decent? The metal ones? Yeah the 3.5 is properly powerful. I had the coyote for a bit(5.0) and missed the quick power of the 3.5TT.
Guys like this are why I will never buy another “used” car. “I’m using a Fram oil filter because I don’t care if it risks the health of the engine. I’m not keeping it.” To each their own but I use the best oil and oil filters on my vehicles and I’ve never had engine problems. I had my 2005 Ford F350 6.0 Powerstroke for 15 years and when I sold it, it ran like a top. My CX-5 is almost 10 years old also and no problems.
Thnx for the input! It’s true, if you plan to keep a car long term, you have to use the best supplies for upkeep. I’ve had 3 new f150 trucks though since 2020 and use them simply just for work. All hwy kms (about 30-40k kms per year) and tbh, I never knew fram was a bad brand until people called me out on it in my last oil change video on one of my other cars (24 grand highlander) When you lease a car though, or someone buys a car that was leased, vs financed, I definitely expect them to be somewhat neglected though since the purpose of the lease is for tax purposes but to also save on repair costs and send them back once the maintenance is required
@ I get it. My company leases for 3 years, then buys out the balance of the lease. The company then holds the vehicle for 1 year and then I buy it off my company…. so we need to ensure what we get will give decent resale as well as good longevity and dependability. I tend to hold vehicles for 10+ years if they have been extremely dependable…. so we take extra care on the maintenance. The shortest owned/leased vehicle I have ever leased was a 2021 Genesis GV80 Prestige. Worst vehicle I have ever owned! Unreliable as hell and dealership service was just as bad…. NEVER AGAIN will I test the waters on any Hyundai, Kia or Genesis variant. We sold the vehicle back to the dealership after being 1 year into a 3 year lease. We put substantial down-payments down on our leases to keep monthly payments low. We only lost $5,000 because demand was so high in 2021/2022 on this car…. we really lucked out! Lol.
factory plug has a rubber oil ring integrated, I replace them after 150000 miles/4 years as precaution. no leak ever. but i bet most quick lube dont give a f on the plug cause it failed prematurely
Thank you! I have a 2024 FORD F-150 STX and I went here to learn .
Great! It’s pretty simple
absolutely very detailed video, thank you
Thanks from SC!
Thanks for watching!
I would not replace the OEM drain plug with its built in gasket with that dorman. You can reuse the OEM one many many times.

Great video! Have you considered ever using the Fram Synthetic endurance? I opened it up on my channel.
I didn’t! Il check that video out and your channel! 😊
Great video! Looking at buying a 2024 F-150 with the 3.5L. Car ramps are so much easier than jacking.

Rotate tires?

I have a new 24. coming up on my first oil change. why did you replace the drain plug? how often do you need to replace it? every change?
Nice! I just changed mine because it was about the fifth oil change and it hadn’t been swapped yet
You don't prime the turbo after the oil change you don't lube the oil filters gasket. How many engines or turbos have you seized?
Thanks for the info. Very helpful.
The owner’s manual is total garbage.
Thanks! Yeah the one in the video was a supplemental manual (the dealer I lease the truck from kept original) so info was very minimal
Did they do away with the big plastic drain plug in 2023?
On my 2023 here it was a steel drain plug with a plastic washer
Is that a low profile jack? Or does it really matter?
It’s decently low profile. JUST fits under my Mercedes cls63. A normal jack will work with this truck.
Are you always changing the drain plug?
I didn’t do it in the past (had jiffy lube do the oil change)

Millions of people use Fram on their long term cars…time to get over the Fram bs people
Thanks! It’s funny, over here in Canada. A lot of people use frame oil filters and don’t have issues.
@ I haven’t a clue why they got such a bad reputation. I believe it was a marketing campaign back in the day or something
