Oil change at 3500 miles with a synthetic blend seems soon; however, he still had 42 percent remaining. Full synthetic is good for 5,000 miles. If you follow the trucks oil life monitoring it can be longer, however I follow old customs and don't exceed 5k miles regardless of oil type and brand recommendations. Thanks for the bolt sizes, saved my big a$$ from an extra trip under the truck.
3500 isn’t too soon getting oil change done this coming up week with 2200 miles on it thr blend one it’s dark brown color time and to change . I’m switching to full synthetic and I’m doing every 6 months or 4 k whatever comes first
Please be aware that the motorcraft synthetic blend oil is the minimum requirement from Ford on these engines. The reason Ford recommends synthetic blend is because it is the lowest cost oil for that engine so that people don't complain of a higher price oil for the oil change. You certainly can upgrade to a full synthetic oil and still be within the Ford recommended specs but understand that it will cost more.
Yr truck is sick!! 🔥I have the same truck, but mine isn’t as fly as yrs.Ty for the video. I just had oil change, and had puddle of oil on my driveway next day. Thanks to yr video I know why! Called them, they’re gonna make it right! If I didn’t see yr video first and take pics before calling them, they might of denied the reason of the leak!
You may not know it but "Synthetic Blend" oil is conventional mineral oil with some synthetic added. There is no criteria for the amount of synthetic required to be a "blend". Therefore it could be just a drop per barrel.
@@Autofreakgarage thanks. I finally got it with my filter wrench. I had to position the wrench handle vertically to get some movement. Not the easiest design.
Yes 3,500. Made an annotation in the video so there is no confusion. Thanks for pointing that out! Wheel/tire and lift info is in this video ua-cam.com/video/xRdmvPE5CUY/v-deo.html
Tip here. Leave on bolt on the farthest corner from you ( loosen only) and simply rotate the shield out of the way. Makes it a lot faster and easier to reinstall
@ I also installed a ValvoMax oil drain on myF150 5.0 about 3 years ago and I love it. So easy to change with it. I get my engine super hot before changing and I don’t get one drop of oil on me.
I'd like to know what air intake system you have on it. I haven't seen one for the truck with dual intakes and I was looking to switch to cold air. Any chance you remember the model?
I meant 3,500 miles Not 35,000! Made an annotation in the video so there is no confusion.
Oh, man. I was panicking for you 😂
I was about to say 😂
@@LeviathanFX1me too!
Was eating as I was watching.. almost choked 😂😂😂😂
I immediately went to the comments when I heard 35.
Leave the fill cap on and the dip stick in until after taking the drain bolt out. Less mess.

Excellent video. Very professional. Well done. Thanks.
Your videos help me wine down. I would love to see you try some drive and Talks on various car topics! Car related news, life, anything really.
Honestly that truck is super nice. It being lifted makes it super easy for an oil change I jelly lol.
Thanks. Yes! It’s amazing to be able to just crawl under and not have to deal with jacks or jack stands.
Thanks for showing how to reset oil life on display.
That MC blend is fantastic oil. Think I tested it when used and was recommended for 5 or 7.5k miles for OC.
Glad to know I don’t got to change my oil for another year and a half! 😂
You change it every 35,000 or 3,500?? @ 0:14
There is an annotation at that time stamp. I meant 3500. Not 35k.
@@Autofreakgarage I’m going to try 35k intervals on my subi, wish me luck 😅🤣

What was Ford thinking with the oil filter location? Impossible to get off
I don’t think they were thinking haha.

So, are you saying I could use full synthetic?
@@stevenlsobel Yes.
Great video, thanks. Any tips on how to remove the filter? It's super hard to fit a tool there.
I use the adjustable strap wrench for the filter. Works very well and easy to get in there amzn.to/3K3hDvU

Unrelated question, how do you keep your engine bay etc so clean?
Just a simple wipe down after each wash. Nothing crazy or fancy.
@@Autofreakgarage I’ll guess I’ll stop being lazy. For some reason I thought it would be a pain in the rear end.
where did you get that carbon fiber steering wheel? that is so sick!!

What’s going to yield better life and performance of the 3.5 EB engine and turbos? Especially the newer one, 3500 or 5k mile oil change?
Earlier is always better. I’d still stick to the 3.5k change. It’s only 55-60 bucks to do it yourself.
Love the mods done to this truck. Very nice. What tires and wheels do you have? That garage floor is awesome too! lol

Wait so there’s a tray that funnels the oil from the filter down to the pan? Or does it get all over the frame?
There is a tray, but it still gets on the frame haha.
@@Autofreakgarage such a bummy design. I’m looking at trading my taco for one of these and there’s no mess with Toyota. Sigh

Gen 2 Ecoboost (post 2015) doesn't need a catch can.
Why is that? I have one on mine. Took it off recently cuz the hoses started ti pinch and whistlez
@@Echaleganas-916 Because the gen 2 has a secondary fuel burn system that eliminates the need for excess fuel requiring catching.

That’s not where my filter is.
