Learn how to check the transmission fluid level on a Ford Expedition with a 5.4 engine. The Expedition shown in this video is a 2012, if your Expedition is around the same year it should be the same procedure.

Thanks. I was trying to figure out where to check it on my sisters expedition. This is why I will stay with older vehicles. Engineers are intentionally making things more difficult.

helooo,& thankyousir for videos,,,i loosened that bolt & fluid started gushung out???? how could this be overfilled????
Sounds like it may be over filled.
I think you may have opened it without the car running - it can appear overfilled even when it is not. Check the fluid with the vehicle warm and running in park.
My second gear slips for about a second then catches it's been doing that for a few years can it be the transmission oil or filter it's a 03 ford explorer slt
Check the transmission fluid level. You may want to put a new transmission filter in along with some new fluid.

You should check it every six months and replace the transmission filter every 30,000 miles. Hope this helps you out.

Where is the location to add fluid to tranmission i have a 2011 expendition is it in the same location where the DT located or is it at another location
I believe it gets added in that dipstick hole. You need a fluid transfer pump to add it in...huge pain in the butt
Have a 08 expedition, ford doesn't change filter and more they hook up a machine and pull the old fluid out and add new. $250
You should also change that filter, It will catch the small particles floating around in the transmission fluid.
The fluid was fine.

I am buying a Ford Expedition 2014 model with 101k KM. The gear oil has never been changed. Is it cause for issue? as my dads crown victoria we changed gear oil at 137K KM at ford and instantly the gear failed and we had to replace the whole gear.
Please guide me. The expedition has been very well maintained apart from that with periodic engine oil and not been used rough at all.
If the truck is is good shape I think you'll be fine. Ford makes a great truck

You can check it with the engine off. It is off in the video when we check it. I would check it when it is warm.

You might be able to get one from the dealer or maybe Ebay or a junk yard. Hope this helps you out.

I haven't had that particular year in the shop, if you can see one in the engine bay it may be the same design as this.
okay I got that but majorly on the other hand that is crazy why would Ford do something that's really should be truly easy to check and fix then making it complicated the check and fix
At least there is a dip stick on these trucks. A lot of vehicles have sealed transmissions now.
I have no idea why they made it very easy to check the trans. fluid 😭

My 2004 expedition hasn't changed the fluid for ten years but the color is still pink, should I change it anyway?25,000 miles old fluid in 10 years.
Just do it man. 10 years worth the expense
I would change the filter and then top off the transmission fluid level.
They sure make it hard to be serviced by the owner.
It is all manufacturers going to way of seal transmission and hidden dipsticks like this.
