      @James Masn you are definitely correct but i would like to add one reason for the lack of knowledge.
      Mechanics do not get paid enough. Anyone who has the mental capacity to do this kind of work could easily go into another industry. They will make more, won't have to take out a mortgage for tools, and won't destroy their body in the process.
      So from what I see everyone is going to enjoy the shortage of skilled mechanics for the foreseeable future.

    • @Mr_Joseph979
      @Mr_Joseph979 4 роки тому +2

      @@bobt8578 you are exactly correct! Between the cost of tools, advanced brand specific education, getting paid book time, shop/dealership corruption and a host of other things is why I didn't stay working as an auto mechanic. Many car guys also won't get to be exposed to but so many scenarios and the lack of good pay won't justify staying on the job. There is already a shortage of mechanics in this field because of the reasons I've stated. Sad

      These engine respond well to maintenance. Besides the phasers, and exhaust manis. They really don’t give many headaches if you maintain them properly.

      Well I have a Ford F150 that has been looked at by the so called good mechanics around here they have no idea.. One said co2 censor and I was thinking catalytic converter... Well when slowing down from 60 or so to a complete stop it starts to how do you explain it... Ummm almost like the timing is off but also a loud rattling.. Shut the engine off and start it back up and it's fine would love to fix this problem have you ever heard of this before... Hopefully the intake roller follower could be my ticket...

    Great job! This is similar to the issue I had with my Expedition, couldn't deal with trial & error from various Repair Shops so I had to sell it.

    Brian, my 2005 F-150 had misfire codes also. My scan tool was just a basic Actron. Nothing like what you have. I replaced plugs and coil packs and it didn't help. this truck had 201800, miles on it. So I took it to the Ford Dealer and asked them to hook it up to there computer and check it out. This truck's engine had oil changes every 3000 miles, give or take 500 miles or so. They said I needed a new engine! I believed them so ten thousand dollars later and four weeks I was back on the road. After watching most of your ford videos' I believe the problem was roller followers! I'll never believe a dealer again. You are the Man! You've also helped me do other repairs on this truck. Next week I'll be replacing a rear ABS sensor, fuel pump module, and oil change on rear pumpkin. Please keep up the Great videos I watch them all the time.

    I'm going to do my timing chains, VCT, Phasers, water pump, Melling Oil Pump, and a full set of roller followers this weekend!
    I have 180k on my '06 and when I inquired at my local garage they said I needed a new engine because the "Rear" timing chains on this engine required the engine to be pulled anyway. Wow! I certainly wasn't going to let them work on my truck!
    Thanks to your inspiration, I think this is going to go well!

    I've come upon this same situation about 3 times. Have also seen it on cylinder 3. Replaced cam, timing set and roller rockers. Just had another 07 three valve come in 3 days ago. Looks at cam error pids and seen the common right bank that always goes out at -14. Inspected with bore scope into oil fill and found the common right chain guide gone due to blown gasket on tensioner. Timing set definitely needed. Removed the easier left cover and found the left guide broken. The engine was oil starved for many seasons. Everything was nasty under the valve cover. My recommendation was getting a remanufactured engine. Great video for those people that don't understand Fords. Thanks

    Subscribed not to long ago. Was a ford dealer tech for 17 years. Left just before the ecoboost. Went heavyduty. I see issues with for ford are still nonstop lol. Great to see someone like Brian trying to help ford owners save some money. Reasons I don't own a ford today haha. Sure takes me back when I was slugging away in the Ford shop, trying to make 100% efficiency numbers or better.

    Outstanding deduction!! My eye spotted it before you pointed it out, as well as how worn that follower was on the side. I can't imagine how much money this man has spent on this truck, now to have to pour another 3k into it making it right again. I hope his frame doesn't look like mine did, or the ones you've shown here on your channel. Fine job finding out that you were right, it is why I recommend you to everyone I know with an F150.
