Literally every first time world record holders of old games. You should check out the speedrun history of God of War (PS2) which was genuinely toxic competition. Lots of shit talking between the big runners.
The story of Ben is honestly hilarious, because his defense of his run saying no one would shave even 5 minutes off his time was proven wrong in every way. Not only did someone quickly shave 40 minutes off his run by just playing the game better and not being afraid of spiders, but nowadays the Any% category has runs totaling only 15 minutes, 1/9th of his time, and the 100% category has runs totaling just over an hour and a half, nearly an hour faster than his Any% run despite collecting every Power Cell and every Precursor Orb.
It would probably be better to compare the glitches any% run But yeah lmao, that is the reason I'm scared of saying anything with confidence. It just makes you look like a jackass later on.
Oh god yes, 2 hours. I can rewatch this and fall asleep so many times. The enjoyment you can get from 2 hours is closer to 30 min + 8 hours*4... and then rinse and repeat. Good night everyone
I do that too. Stops me from lucid dreaming mostly, although sometimes it does bleed over and I hear the video in my dream and think someone's talking to me.

I got this for my 13th birthday. I played through it so many times. It was really the best platformer since SM64 imo. ground breaking smart loading times too
I got it for my 6th birthday without a memory card. Fun times beating geyser rock for like 50 times and going to bed before my parents noticed what a memory card was.

I always wish there were videos like these for games like Bioshock, New Vegas, or Borderlands, but then I remember that these are relatively recent and take a lot of time to make. But I’m always entertained, no matter whether I’ve played the game myself or have never heard about it in my life. Another great vid, Speed Docs! Out of curiosity, is the Wind Waker video covering the original game? I’ve seen a history video for the HD version on the Wii U, but not for the original.

subtitles are enabled by default, but youtube takes a while to autogenerate them, especially for longer videos. I went ahead and uploaded the script as the subtitles so it should process faster. hopefully you can watch it (and read it) in a day or so

mad respect to people speedrunning this hell of a game. As a casual player I raged sooo much because how inconsistant and random the moves feel, making judging distance so damn hard. Could have been a much better game imo, and Jak 2 and 3 are so so much better on that respect.
