Thank you guys so much for this video! The amount of work you guys put into this, whilst also carefully balancing the community's opinions but doing yourself justice is truly heartwarming. You have produced a truly wonderful video, and I personally couldn't be more hyped about how it turned out :)
hey fear, in this days i've been obsessed with rack 1 speedruns, but one thing in particular, the poki skip, when as clank you get the infobot and skip all pokitaru quest for the O2 mask. Is it too much to ask for you god speedrunners of rack 2 & 3 to make this dream come true for the whole community? I hope you notice this comment
The best thing about this channel is that I went into this video knowing that not only will I never speedrun ratchet and clank but possibly won’t even play it myself because I’m not that interested- even so, I absolutely love the way these documentaries are structured and found it thoroughly entertaining. I knew I was in for a great video even if I’m not particularly interested in the game- because these videos are top tier ✌️
This is exactly why I'm here, I love these games but simply don't have the time to speed run. It's so entertaining to watch though and these videos as well as Ricky's are just the best
Just wanted to say this is an extremely well-made video. Not only with the editing itself, but how you made the narrative engaging and tied everything together. Super exciting seeing your work get better and better with each release!
Speedrunning in general seems to be blowing up in popularity over the past couple of years, and since finding Karl Jobst and Summoning Salt, I cannot get enough of these speedrunning history videos.
Over the last 2 weeks I've watched just about every Summoning Salts and Speed Docs videos (even started listening to a podcast by the editor for speed docs). I need more lol. Any other good UA-cam channels of similar quality I missed? 🤔
17:50 my guy the implication that clowns are fake and imitating something real is terrifying to me. what are clowns imitating. whats real and out there thats more true clown than clowns could ever be
Just watched the video after supporting on patreon and i need to say, this is a really good world progression video. I was pretty much glued to the screen without even feeling the time passing
As a kid I played this game almost every day and to me it's one of the best games ever made ! About a year ago I decided to start speedrunning the game and I was surprised what an awesome speedrun it is. Very cool to see how the speedrunning strats developed over the years. Outstanding video !!
I've been heavily getting into the speed running scene by just watching streams and videos of them... Especially the Ratchet and Clank ones, because I love that my all time favourite series is still being played to this day. I would love to get into it myself, it looks like lots of fun, and perhaps maybe I can rival the big runners, or at least make a list
What I enjoy about these speed run history videos are the interviews. They add a lot of character and depth to the community itself that loves a particular game and the different speed run categories.
Ratchet for me was an instant classic. I’ll never forget those cool weapon adverts for the original game, my missus and I bought the game when it came out back in 2002 and absolutely loved it right from the off. Ratchet has been my favourite game series ever since. My top 5 game series are 1 Ratchet and Clank 2 God Of War 3 GTA 4 Resident Evil 5 Burnout
Another FANTASTIC video. This one is next level. I feel like all the time and effort you put into this one really elevated the experience. I look forward to years of more!
What a ridiculously well-made documentary! I had the joy of replaying Going Commando last year, and then looking up the speedruns afterwards. Little did I know there was so much progression behind all the routes and tricks. Impressive how this was put together!
This was so amazing to watch I’ve been a R&C fan for years and had no idea how much love and attention the meta game was getting all these years, and this video was impeccably made and edited
Wow, this is excellent. I used to quite dislike Xem, but seeing him try and turn around was a nice part of the story. Really interesting how these videos always start out like I'm uninterested but then something sucks me in. Great editing, great research, great storytelling.
Wow amazing video! I actually am Deathfire123 and I had no idea that I was the first real recorded speedrunner of Ratchet and Clank 2 NG+ No IMG, that's so cool! Thank you for the shoutout! That run at SGDQ WAS pretty sloppy but it was my first time really speedrunning in front of a bunch of people so I had the jitters. It was a really fun experience though! Just some fact checks, you mention that my trip to Endako to get the Grind Boots and Swingshot was unnecessary when actually it isn't. All of the glitches that skip the requirement for these items can only be performed on the Black Label version of the game, and as you mentioned a few seconds later, I was playing on the Greatest Hits version, which had patched out some additional glitches you could do (namely Decoy Jump Resetting, which is when you Charge Boots, then throw a decoy mid air to reset your jumps. This glitch is shown a lot in the footage you showed from Cyprys' run) Also, you said my name wrong :P it was 123 not 321. Yeah I pretty much fell off of speedrunning after SGDQ as I ended up wanting to focus on school and speedrunning was taking up a lot of my time. But I still really enjoy the medium and will always treasure my time in the community. Again, thank you for the shoutout
@@SpeedDocs Haha yes I live. I had no idea I started all that. I don't mind! Hi! Just found about this because someone had commented on one of my videos. It's good to see RC2 get a nice highlight. After all, its speedrun history on YT traces even further back, especially with the likes of SandeProHiQu (who ran No IMG and later NG+ between 2008 and 2009) and Lapogne36 (starting with Any% in 2010). And as such, many thanks for the mention and feature. However, I was a bit surprised to see my 40:42 PS2 PB not mentioned. I got it in the same year as my 49 on PS3. There I completely skipped Endako, thus skipping Clank, and also used the Sheepinator on the T4L boss. Nevertheless, you did put on a good show, because other runners have done much more to further optimize the game, and I think it's even better that you highlighted them.
Howdy o/. Glad you liked the video first of all! We didn't mention you're 40:42 because when we were doing our research the upload date on your video was July 22nd, 2014, and the world record at that time would have been a 35:35 by Cyprys from May 18th, 2014. @Speed Docs It's okay. I hadn't noticed at the time that someone had a sub 40 prior to that, because I was listed as 1st place in the old RatchetRuns Google Sheets leaderboard for No IMG with 40:42 (prior to SRDC).
I knew there should have been a Google Doc leaderboard! Nobody that we talked to was aware of it though. Oh well, guess we skipped over a little bit of early history....

Sadly you share much of the same wishes as many of the ratchet community. For ages people tried to get in contact with him/her (I don't even know the gender lol, thats how little we know). There doesn't really seem to be a way to contact Silence, as much as we would like to.

@@TheUltimateShade667 considering i broke the record several times that week, it means the world record was just not optimized. Also i literally explode for the sub 30 so you can't say i wasn't positive when that happened haha
@@ThaRixer Yeah ive seen u happy for runs, it was mostly an exaggeration. But ive definitely seen u have similar reactions to that in the past. I shouldve used a better word than 'positive' though.
i love this, i really do, but you're referring to 'the [rac speedrunning community]' as if it's a monolith, but also looking at silence's run which exists beyond that monolith, and i find myself really wanting to hear from silence about what was going on on the jp side of this; what work went into that run that nuka found by chance?
Sadly you share much of the same wishes as many of the ratchet community. For ages people tried to get in contact with him/her (I don't even know the gender lol, thats how little we know). There doesn't really seem to be a way to contact Silence, as much as we would like to.
@@feargames4270 i gotta respect commitment to a chosen name
@@feargames4270 sadly the website silence uploaded to is not being used that much anymore. Most people here in jp use UA-cam now, so he might have forgotten about the account and therefore we’re not able to get in touch with him/her. It’s sad, but I’m not sure how you’d be able to get in contact tbh.
Hyped for this, hope its 60mins+
Close to 90 minutes 👀
@@SpeedDocs I'm excited!
Bro it’s not just RAC 2 every where else. It’s called locked and loaded here in AUS.
