      Name Explain Bosnia has five regions. Krajina, Posavina, Upper Bosnia, Podrinje, and Herzegovina. The country was always called just Bosnia, but Ottoman empire and Austro-Hungary changed that and they added Herzegovina to the name of the country. But that doesn't change the fact that Herzegovina is just one of the bosnian regions (southern Bosnia) and one day (and that day will come) we will change the name of our country back to Bosnia. Republic of Bosnia. Cheers!

    Why is Galicia a region in spain and also the name of a region is eastern europe

    • @Vitalis94
      @Vitalis94 6 років тому +34

      It's just the English name that's the same. Well, Germanic, to be exact. Eastern European Galicia is the latinization of the Russian/Ukrainian name Halych. What's the etymology of the word Halych, well.. That's unknown. Some historians tried to connect the name Galicia to the Celts (that's where Spanish Galicia got it's name from, as there were Gauls/Celts in Spain at some point), and point to the word 'hal', meaning salt in Celtic. But honestly, we just don't know...

      In Polish Halicz/Ruś Halicka and Galicja are two different things - the former referring to the state which existed before being conquered by Poland and the latter to the region of the Austrian Empire after the partitions. Their territories are quite significantly different.

    I did go to the trouble of explaining on your "Führer"-video that "Herzog" is a German word which also effectively means "leader" (albeit a military one). Other languages have it from us, not the other way round. So once more: it is a compound of "Heer" (army) and "Zog" (cognate with English "tug") meaning "lead out". Its derivation and development parallel those of the word "Duke".

    serbian word ''herzog'' wtf and why did you skip the fact that Bosnia was a kingdom since 10 up to 14th century and had it's own coins and royal dynasty. Also why did you skip the fact that the country was called Bosnia until Austro Hungarian occupation, it was the Austrians who gave a country two names during the Berlin congress. The AH monarchy pressured under Russia wanted to create two states one called Bosnia and other called Herzegowina. But they backed down after Istanbul convention in 1890 keeping the country united but under two names-

    Bosnia has five regions. Cheers!

      Mirza Bajrektarevic Jednoga dana(a taj dan sigurno uskoro dolazi)ce se tzv.BiH(posto je vestacka tvorevina,koja je nastala pod pritiskom zapada,odn.SAD tzv.Dejtonskim mirovnim sporazumom,a ne sveopstim,demokratskim konsenzusom sva3konstitutivna naroda)podeliti..To je neminovnost,vise od polovine gradjana tzv.BiH je niti voli,niti je oseca svojom drzavom,vise vole 2 susedne drzave ,i svoj rodni kraj od vlade u Sarajevu,na fudbalskim utakmicama,samo 1 od 3 naroda navija za takozvani nacionalni tim..smejurija.Ti ljudi koji ne vole BiH kao svoju drzavu i ne gledaju Sarajevo kao svoj glavni grad,nisu dosli"sa strane",zive tu,gde zive od vajkada,i imaju svako pravo da zive u drzavi kakvoj oni zele,to im pravo nikakva velika sila,pa bile to i same SAD ne mogu oduzeti.Znaci,tzv.BiH ce se podeliti,"kako Bog zapoveda",i to na:1)Republiku Srpsku sa sve Brcko Distriktom,koji je jos jedna podvala zapada,njega nije bilo u Dejtonskom sporazumu,on je nastao kasnije,pritiscima i ucenom,samo sa ciljem da se Republika Srpska presece na 2 dela,da nebi bila jedna kompaktna teritorija,no to je neka druga prica..2)Federacija BiH ce se sigurno isto teritorijalno menjati.Hrvati,kao jedan od 3 konstitutivna naroda imaju svako pravo na svoj entitet,tako da se sigurno ponovo nastati Herceg-Bosna.3)Republika Srpska ce se sigurno konacno ujediniti sa svojom majkom Srbijom,sto je vekovni san svih Srba..4)Herceg-Bosna ce se takodje ujediniti sa svojom maticom,a to je Hrvatska..A ona teritorija koja preostane,moze bit dzamahirija,kalifat,republika..moze se zvati BiH,Sao Tome i Principe(znas ono"3 ostrva i 2 palme"),kako god..Jedino tada ce sva 3 naroda biti srecna,zadovoljna,i jedino tada ce svaki od 3 konstitutivna naroda imati teritoriju koja mu zaista pripada.Pozdrav i svako dobro..

But: The Serbian Republic (Republika Sprska), not to be confused with Serbia, and the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, not to be confused with the whole country of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Confusing.. right? :)

      Come on, don't shit cause it would be on the map then
      Although, it's really hard to issue laws and things with two entities, cause both need to agree which doesn't happen often, and a high corruption in government is also bad

    BiH has a strange way of governing itself; three distinct governments (one for the whole country, and two for its constituent parts [the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Republika Srpska]), three capitals (Banja Luka for Rep. Srpska, Sarajevo for Fed. BiH, and the free city of Brcko). No wonder things are very slow to get done over there, but fortunately the situation is improving somewhat.

      First part of your sentence is "strange". US do not have states? There isn't one govermenz for the US and another for e.g. Texas? And Washington DC is a state or "free city"?
      So, BiH is a kind of union of two entities: Federation of BiH and Republika Srpska. Brčko District is autonomous as it is not part of the two entities, it is a self-governing "condominium". Capitals are: Sarajevo (BiH and Federation of BiH) and Banja Luka (Republika Srpska). What is interesting is that Republika Srpska is unitary entity, while Federation of BiH (as its name says) is a federation: it is composed of 10 semi-autonomous cantons.

    • @Gameflyer001
      @Gameflyer001 6 років тому

      There is a difference between the US and BiH, in that in the former, the federal government has clear influence over the individual states, and they aren't exactly autonomous as they have to comply with federal laws to govern themselves. In the latter case, the two autonomous entities are more or less equal with that of the federal government, making agreements between the triumvirate harder to come by.

      Herzegovina is in the name though coz it it always had separate status due it being the personal possession Duchy of the Duke who ruled over whole of Bosnia in past as Grand Duke ...defacto a King. Kind of similar how the King of U.K. is also the Prince of Wales.
      U.K. after all is just shorthand for the United Kingdom(s) of England & Scotland, the Principality Of Wales & The Lordship of Northern Ireland.

I said partially, because country Bosnia is not named according to river called Bosnia.... but the whole region is named Bosnia because it has a lot of rivers and water surfaces. And hear is the big difference. Bosnia dated from the begining from 9 century, Herzegowina was formed later with goal to take this Part of the land from Bosnia. During the period of ruling Herzog- Stjepan Kosaca- Herzegowina. in the 16 century as seperate unit didn't t exist because Herzog was Bosniak ruler

    Bosnia is the whole country. Bosnia is also Hercegovina. The double name was imposed on the entire country of Bosnia from the west in order to be able to split the country one day. As always, the divide and rule principle applies here as we know it very well from the West. Hercegovina is not a separate country or another country. It never was. All this is the country of Bosnia and this region is called Hercegovina. Just like in Bosnia the region Bos. Krajina and Podrinje and Bos. Posavina gives. These are all regions like Hercegovina in Bosnia.
    The double name is a trap and a curse that anti-Bosnian forces from the west were eager to introduce.

    Usually when foreigners first hear Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, they think federal subjects are Bosnia and Herzegovina. If it were that simple... One federal subject is Republic of Srpska, the other one is...Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Yup, a federation inside a federation...bearing exactly the same name. Oh, and both Srpska and (lesser) Federation of B&H cover parts of geographic regions of both Bosnia and Herzegovina. Last and least is Brčko District, which belongs to neither Srpska nor Federation (yes, lesser one), but luckily, is entirely in the region of Bosnia (otherwise it would be too complicated :)

    Great video! How ever I would like to mention that Herceg is an old Bosnian word and not serbian as the Serbian language was based on the Bosnian one. Anyway, the video is cool 👐

    • @whatever7180
      @whatever7180 6 років тому +1

      This is a wide deception of Muslim people from Bosnia, believing that there is a separate language called Bosnian just because there was a Bosnian dictionary made up in 17th century but people don't know that "bosnian" language used in the dictionary does not have any similarities with the language spoken today, because it was old slavonic language and written in arabic letters which is really wierd.

    • @ig7418
      @ig7418 6 років тому +2

      What Ever Let me first say that I'm not muslim, but I do accept the facts that the Bosnian language existed a couple of hundared years before the Serbian language did. So pls, let's not have some discussions because we can't change the reality and facts. If you want to speak Bosnian and say it's Serbian, well that's fine by me. I won't force anyone, but the facts has to be mentioned and accepted. 😊

      tgghgf hfghgf I don't know. Maybe it is. Probably there is no 100% correct answer when it comes to this topic. The only thing I wanted to mention is that it's impossible to claim that somethings comes from serbian when serbian language in fact was based on the Bosnian one.

    • @whatever7180
      @whatever7180 6 років тому

      the word Herzog derives from Hungarian and it means prince, therefore it was the land of the prince Stefan Kosaca. About the language I dont want to go to dispute, you believe there is a different bosnian language I lay claim that it is the same language as Serbian, agree to disagree end of the story I wont make you think otherwise you wont make me.

    Herzegovina name is product of the Ottomans occupation of Bosnia and later Austro-Hungarian Empire leave that in name of the country for theirs occupation reasons. Actualy teritory which someone call today "Herzegovina" is also part of the Bosnia. No, "Ivan Planina" is not border between Bosnia on one side and Herzegovina on another side. From boith sides is Bosnia, Herzegovina is part of the Bosnia.

    Thanks for the video. Though if someone is interested in a more accurate description of why the countr is actually called Bosnia and Herzegovina read this comment.
    Herzegovina was never in the actual name of the country, it was a region that started of as Hum, then Zachlumia and then Herzegovina. However, the 1st time that the name Bosnia and Herzegovina shows up is in the 19th century, more specificaly 1831-1832 during the Bosnian war of Autonomy against the Ottoman Empire. As the Bosniak nobles defeated the Ottoman Army in Kosovo in the year of 1831, the Bosnian army went back to Bosnia. However, one of the Bosniak nobles who held what is today's Herzegovina, decided to cooperate with the Ottomans and betrayed the rest of the Bosniak Nobility, that nobles name was Ali Pasa Rizvanbegovic. Therefor he was awarded with an autonomus province that would be seperated from Bosnia, that province was the Sandzak of Herzegovina. About 20 years later the two provinces would be merged again into the Bosnian Vilayet. However the name Herzegovina stayed, and was adopted by the Austro Hungarian occupiers after the annexation of Bosnia. But, even so, today mostly people reffer to Bosnia just as Bosnia, leaving out the Herzegovina.

      Ma sta nam naprica hahaha.
      Ono sto je u ovom klipu namerno izostavljeno jeste da se Bosna prvi put u istoriji pominje za vreme Konstantina Porfitogenita i to kao DISTRIKT U HRISCANSKOJ SRBIJI, to mozes slobodno da proveris i u Encyclopediji Britannica
      Druga stvar koja je namerno izostavljena jeste da je Stefan Vukcic Kosaca bio Srbin i da je on osnivac Vojvodstva Svettog Save i da mu je titula glasila Herceg Svetog Save.
      Dalje. Bosna je bila srpska drzava citavu istoriju sve do 1463. God i pada pod tutsku njome je vladao srpski despot i kralj Stefan Tomasevic sa zenom mu srpkinjom Jelenom Brankovic. Dalje, Srbi su bili vecina u Bosni prema svim demografskim popisima sve do '60ih godina i to slobodno mozes da proveris. 360.000 Srba je pobijeno u NDH (Bosni i Hrvatskoj) od 1941-1945. God prema podacima Holocaust Encyclopedie to je samo jedan id razloga zasto Srbi vise nisu vecina

    • @Ribizlaupm
      @Ribizlaupm 6 років тому

      Nece biti da je tako. Bosna je bila dio Srbije pod dinastijom Vlastimirovic pre no sto je tvoj Tomislav uopste postao kralj, pre nego sto je uopste rodjen i to 842. god nakon srpske pobede nad Bugarima u trogodisnjem ratu koji je poceo 839. god. to je prva stvar.
      Dalje, dok sam procitao velikoustasku laz da toboz Duklja ( to isto vazi i za Travuniju i za Zahumlje, itd) bila nekakva "crvena hrvatska" tu sam prestao citat hrvatsku mitomaniju jer se odlicno zna da je "Duklja" bila srednjevekovna srpska drzava koja je stekla nezavisnost od Vizantije 1040. god pod srpskim knezom Stefanom Vojislavom. Tu nema i nikada nije bila nista sporno.

    • @Ribizlaupm
      @Ribizlaupm 6 років тому

      Zaboravio sam da citiram Encyclopediu Britannica. Bosna se pod tim imenom prvi put pominje NAKON smrti tvojega kralja Tomislava: "After Tomislav’s death in 928, much of Bosnia was taken over by a Serb princedom that acknowledged the sovereignty of the Byzantine Empire. The first written mention of Bosnia was recorded during this period by the Byzantine emperor Constantine VII Porphyrogenitus, who described “Bosona” as a district in “baptized Serbia.”

    • @Ribizlaupm
      @Ribizlaupm 6 років тому

      Ma daaaaaaaj. Hehehehehehehe!!! Sto se tice Bosne. CITIRAO sam ti Encyclopediu Britannica gde pise da je dobila ime za vreme Konstantina Porfirogenita koji ju je opisao kao "distrikt u hriscanskoj Srbiji" Bosna je bila i PRE i POSLE postojanja tvog kralja Tomislava -srpska. Tu nema nista sporno i to dokazuju SVI srednjevekovni spisi.
      Sto se tice Duklje. Ne koristim Wiki kao izvor informisanja, i kad koristim onda su je to Wiki na engleskom jeziku i clanci koji su zakljucani da bas ne moze svako da ih edituje!!!!!
      en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duklja
      Sta pise. Citiram: "Duklja (Greek: Διοκλεία, Diokleia; Latin: Dioclea; Serbian Cyrillic: Дукља) was a medieval Serb[a] state which roughly encompassed the territories of present-day southeastern Montenegro, from the Bay of Kotor in the west to the Bojana river in the east, and to the sources of the Zeta and Morača rivers in the north." To je sto se toga tice.
      Sto se tice DNA. Ajde da vidimo.
      slavicchronicles.com/genetics/serbian-genetics/
      en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genetic_studies_on_Serbs
      cogniarchae.com/2015/11/17/genetics-speaks-who-is-who-on-balkans/
      Kao sto vidimo, niz posve razlicitih izvora navodi slijedece a to je da Srbi imaju najvise SLAVENSKOGA gena bas kao i sami Hrvati i to I2a, R1a, E1b..... (u razlicitim procentima naravno) jel te jos nesta interesira??? Samo pitaj.

    • @Ribizlaupm
      @Ribizlaupm 6 років тому

      Ne znam kako to toboz citamo iste izvore kad na eng wiki pise dakle jasno i glasno da je Duklja bila srpska srednjevekovna drzava dakle "medieval Serb state" pod vladavinom srpskoga kneza Stefana Vojislava, dakle "Serbian Prince of Duklja" i to 1040. god kada je ista prvi put u istoriji i postala nezavisna od Vizanstije... Znam odlicno da hr wiki pise nesto sasvim 99. sto nema veze sa mozgom, istinom ali to ne cudi jer hr wiki uredjuju mogu slobodno da kazem: falsifikatori, lazovi i mitomani...jednom recju ustase poput Darka Cokora.
      Dalje. Hrvati NIKADA nisu bili vecina u Bosni (ISTO vazi i za Duklju) NIKADA pa ni onda. Ne znam odakle ti ta laz kad su u Bosni Srbi bili vecina citavu istoriju sve do 1961. god??? To je TAKODJE lako dokazivo uvidom u demografske podatke
      Bilo kako bilo, znam da su cinjenice na mojoj strani, takodje odlicno znam koje su delove Balkana Srbi naselili dolaskon na Balkan u 7. veku tako da ne moram nista i nikome da dokazujem. Cao.
