  • This is a villain tribute consisting of a compilation of scenes featuring the main antagonist of the Final Fantasy XII videogame, the charming schemer and aspiring Emperor, Vayne Carudas Solidor (voiced by Elijah Alexander). I found his use of political intrigue interesting strictly because all of his scheming and slaughter of lives was dedicated towards the goal of freeing humanity from the control of its Gods. To that end, Vayne gave up everything, including his beloved younger brother's respect, to accomplish his goal, showing how good intentions can lead to people committing horrendous evil. Hope you enjoy him!

    I really liked the character even though so many people seemed to have hated the game. A bit unfortunate because I consider Vayne to be one of the best antagonists in the series.
    Vayne is not truly evil or insane, he's not a megalomaniac, nor a man seeking power out of greed. Really it's his scheming ruthlessness and ambitious plans that puts him at odds with the protagonists and ironically what he's fighting for is to free the entire world for entities that are manipulating it to their own ends. In a lot of ways, he'd doing exactly what the previous protagonists in the franchise have done, fight corrupt gods. Even as he was near defeat, he does not curse the heroes or try to doom the peoples or planet like others, rather he just voices regret to his last ally and mentor; that he wasn't able to fulfill the role of the previous hero, the Dynast King. He's almost a tragic hero in a way.

      He's my favorite villain of the entire series...Period due to many of the reasons you kindly mentioned.
      Followed by the Emperor from ff2 and Ardyn

    Great compilation. Vayne is an incredibly underrated FF antagonist. Perhaps because his true intentions were a bit misunderstood. He had such a cold demeanour and ruthless nature. I do believe he held some affection/care for his younger brother, even though Larsa did end up rebelling against him in the end. He was a military genius, manipulative and powerful. All for the sake of achieving his goal and freedom. Personally, he’s one of my favourite FF villains.
    Elijah also does a fantastic job portraying Vayne’s personality in his voice.

      Vayne always loved Larsa. His final step of his master plan for himself to die so Larsa might rule a peaceful united empire.

    I especially love the last scene of Vayne, talking to his father. They lowkey talk about how his fathers death would provide a way of getting rid of the council, and his faher seems to be okay with it. "And so, house Solidor lives on" is the sentence Vayne mutters in the next scene, in a mourning tone, while gently placing the hands of his dead father to a more dignified position.
    This game has some REALLY great subtle and visual storytelling, that is not present in any other entry. And despite liking FFIX a bit more, FFXII stands out for that and is easily my second favorite FF.

    Love the video. This speaks in two strokes to everything good and bad about this game. The wonderful writing, great villian who was right all along, and intricate web-weaving plot: the good. The bad? It can be summarized in about twenty-minutes and Vayne is not the main character. XII's story is good; its execution is the problem.

    If you like a villain like Vayne, I bet you might like Chouji Suitengu from the anime Speed Grapher. He is a man who seeks vengeance against the corrupt society that destroyed his family life by offering the upper class of society vices in his underground club for a hefty fee while slowly orchestrating their downfall, even at the expense of the daughter of a corporate empress he works under as right hand. Who he uses as a catalyst to awaken an virus in certain people that gives them lethal superpowers based on their inner darkest desires.

    Why wasn't Vayne in Dissidia?
    Also, I have a question for you Emptyman.
    Will you make videos for live action tv villains or will copyright stop you? I like to see a video for the Manipulative murderer Lorne Malvo.

    • @EmptyMan000

      Live action villain videos are the hardest to upload simply because they never last because they're taken down by the copyright claims of their production companies.

      He's a strange one, a stone cold villain with an obvious devil complex. Meaning he prides himself on bringing out the worst in people and cultivating their worst impulses for his own amusement. Not to mention his own contempt of others and his ability to manipulate people.

    Vayne is a hypocrite. He wants mankind to no longer be manipulated by the occuria, but he keeps talking and listening to one. And developed nethicite for 6 years with an Occuria.
    He also presumes Ashe to be an Occuria puppet. But Ashe never directly obeyed any of their intentions or talked to them. Ashe is better fitting for her to take the history reins mankind something whatever.

    • @fosphor8920
      @fosphor8920 2 роки тому +4

      the occuria he talks to wants mankind to not be controlled by the occuria anymore and was exiled for that. He developed man made nethicite. He presumed correctly in Ashe being manipulated by the occuria. Ashe did win in the end :p

      Venat wants man to have control again, they are less master and servant and more partners in crime so to speak.

    • @machdude3366
      @machdude3366 10 місяців тому

      The plot was set forth once Vayne was clued into the existence of the Occuria and their purpose. He schemed with Cid and Venat to create manufacted nethicite akin to stealing fire from the gods. While the Occuria themselves started none the wiser, they quickly realized their folly when these very stones were used to great effect to wrest power from Dalmasca and Nabradia, the holders of the 3 pieces of deifacted nethicite. The irony of this is that in their crusade, they were able to test out the true potential power in these stones and found them to be glorified nuclear weapons. As Cid had noted, it was not a weapon to be controlled, only used at the behest of the gods themselves. Manufacted nethicite was man's stone, lesser in power, but controllable and reproducible. Hiding the Sun Cryst behind the Tower only served to further isolate man from the Occuria in order to single out those who would use it to the directive of the Occuria.
      Vayne's goal though is more personal. He spat on the legacy of the Dynast King, one who would use god's power to reign in the ranks of the mortal races at the whims of their gods. He saw him as a pretender, one ill-fit to be the king who earned his place at the top. Vayne's campaign was both a method and a statement, he intended with his every being to become the next Dynast King the correct way, through merciless conquest. His usage of manufacted nethicite is a challenge to the gods; this is the might of stones wrought by men and led by his command. With his success, his victory would be the absolute denial of their machinations. Of course, he was no stranger to the truth as well; to be dictator is to be hated. And whatever victory he had over the gods would have earned him the ire of the citizens tenfold. For that, Larsa's part was at his end. He knew that he would die a tyrant and thus chose a successor that he knew would lead a benevolent age, one worthy to truly hold the reigns of the Dynast King.
      Of course, the problem was that he lacked vision as to what it means to have choice and to be able to spurn power. Larsa had no love for the role and would sooner make peace with his neighbors than to try to create such thing as a Dynast King. On the other, Ashe stands for her nation because it was the right thing to do. This combined meant that while Vayne did succeed in wresting power from the gods, the existence of the Dynast King was but a fantasy created by an idle creator.
