Feeding raw MUST be done correctly or it can be harmful for your pet! This video focuses on ferrets, as dogs have different dietary needs / requirements. I do not feed my dog or cats raw, as they are "family pets" and I would not be able to afford that!

I was playing with my ferret on my bed the other night and she randomly went to the corner and pulled out a piece of presumably pork trim which was at least 3 days old. I haven't trusted her alone in my room with meat since
I got my ferret from a breeder who got over run with ferrets and had to feed kibble. When we went to collect her they stunk so much.
I swapped her over to raw asap and within a week her fur was fuller, softer and more colourful. When we got her she barely had an undercoat and her fur was really wiry
Can't say much on energy since she's only 12 weeks old but I was so shocked at the change of smell, poo and her coat :)
So feeding raw is better than kibble?
@@kaine2t if you do it properly. An unbalanced raw diet is far worse than kibble, luckily it isn't too hard to balance; there's lot's of videos about it on this channel
I just rescued two ferrets from a family member and your advice is so great, they were being fed dollar store Puppy food, kitten treats, and cheerios.. I love your videos already, I subscribed 🥰 I've always wanted ferrets and want to do right by them

can't get enough of your videos, I'm in a hurry to get a healthy ferret. hope mine will transition, she is 6 years old and has been on Marshals kibble the entire time, with daily Uncle Jims Duk Soup and occasionally chicken and broth baby food. I am getting baby ferret and want to start this raw diet. however, my ferrets seem to live about 9 years.
This was super helpful, my ferrets are 11 weeks old and I just can't wait to transition them off this meal plan, I'm studying your education videos and blog, thank you so much for all you do

Hi I'm a week in with my new baby ferret Fennel. I've watched all your content and it is so helpful!! So my question is "can ferrets eat fish?" in the raw diet? I was thinking salmon where it is so oily and fatty might be good but didn't want to do the wrong thing. I'm also aware of bones. Thanks!!

I honestly think I’m convinced to go raw now after, while watching your video on the most common diseases, I saw other videos to watch pop up of other ferret owners who’s ferrets had passed away or were sick from those very diseases :( :(
this might be a complication question as i don't really know how to word it but if you feed raw how much should you feed them in 1 day i am getting two boys but am so stuck on how much you feed them per day like how much it should weigh and how often you feed it to them in one day im so stuck plz help.
For whole animal CGR (whole animal body ground to a similar texture of ground beef not chunks) would I just pick a meat per meal or does the consideration of bone-in and muscle and such still apply? I would love to start a raw diet but want to make sure I Have everything right first!!

Some ferret owners feed a high quality cat kibble but if I wanted to feed already prepared raw, could I feed something like Primal raw cat food? Would that meet my ferret's nutrition requirements?
We are considering getting a ferret. I’ve been doing a ton of research first. One question I had is, is meat bought from a grocery store okay to feed a ferret? I know it doesn’t seem like a first choice but I was wondering.
Meat bought from the store is fine if it is free from hormones and saline solutions. I stay away from anything with salt or rosemary extract. It's pretty hard to find items free of those so I opt to ordering everything online.

I want to feed my ferrets a Raw diet but I am afraid that they will hide food and that will cause another problem. I do give them dry food and put water in it and they love to eat their food that way is that ok. How often do you feed your Ferrets?
I just started giving my ferrets raw chicken, so they kinda like it but now that’s the only thing they want to eat! So I’ve been giving chicken for the las two months which is great because they don’t eat kibble anymore; however, I noticed few weeks ago that they’ve pooping liquid like diarrhea and I don’t think that’s healthy :’( can you please somebody give an advice. (Note: they don’t like eating beef or liver)

Thanks for the great video about your raw diet. I have done a lot of research and gone over the entire holistics website many times. I have tried to start it once before but then stopped. I think I will try again and do the full switch. It seems to be better. One question though, I thought that ferrets couldnt have the egg whites becuase there is something bad for them in it.
Little Paws 18120 thanks for the comment & question!! Ferrets can have the egg white if it’s whisked together with the yolk. Feeding egg whites on their own is not balanced as it can lead to biotin deficiency. I used to just feed yolks but now I feed the whole egg to give an even better balance.

Could I do a mix of Mizuri Ferret Diet and a good quality Cat Food (both include the nutritional requierements) and a bit of raw food including chicken, egg, beef, etc.?

Mazuri ferret is not a great food for ferrets. It is very low quality. Mixing raw and kibble together is not recommended in the long term because it can mess with their digestive systems.
Better to go raw completely!

Hello Katherine, I recently got a six month ferret and I started him on raw right away, he went straight for the food, I am not giving him any kibble just the holistic ferret forum franken soup suggested. I’ve noticed his poop brownish more towards yellowish with mucous. Is it because I changed him to raw? I’ve always kibble fed, but I don’t know how raw poop should look like. Help
Yes, his poop will be strange for a bit during the transition. What do you have in your soups? Feel free to start adding more chunks to the soup until it’s just chunks and no soup.
Worth mentioning, soups will give your fuzzy lots of runny poops!
I'm thinking of feeding raw, can I feed raw some days (Mondays, Wednesdays friday, Sunday) and kibble other days (Tuesday,Thursday Saturday) ?
Miya Papaya if you’re willing to do some days, why not just do it completely? You won’t avoid the harmful effects and illnesses caused by kibble. So even though you’re adding the raw, you just cancel it out with the kibble! Your ferret will still be prone to Insulinoma, bladder stones and tooth decay. Hope this helps
