Used to be a dog person but we recently adopted a cat and I couldn’t have been more wrong about them. He’s cuddly, follows us all over the place, loves to play and has already learned a few tricks.
So you only like a cat that acts like a dog..

If you want a constant companion who loves and protects you. Get a dog.
If you want a housemate who comes and goes and requires minimal effort. Get a cat.
Dogs are pets. They require a lot of time and effort. If you’re not gonna be home most of the day. You’re not fit to get a dog.
Cats are like houseplants. They’ll make you feel less lonely, but don’t require as much effort as a dog. If you’re going to be out of the house a lot (work, travel etc) then a cat is better suited for you.

I know it's a joke but majority of cats I've know are extremely loyal to their owners. I've been in some homes and they would not approach me they stuck by their owners side. I remember befriending a stray a few years back and he was like my main little buddy, if I snapped my fingers he'd come running out the bushes, he eventually brought me "food" (dead squirrels/rats/birds) nice gesture, and he was super protective.
People who think cats aren't loyal or don't show emotions have never owned a cat or only got their cat knowledge through memes.
The attitude part is spot on though.
Ikr, they're much fearless than people think, they attack and stand their ground against animal ranging from mouse, chicken, goose, fox, bobcat, coyote, seal, even.. crocodile, tiger, bear, sometimes hippo and elephant! (There are video of it)

Earning a cats loyalty is differently hard. After achieving that, my cat just cuddles up to me and lick's my arm for about 30 minutes to show her affection and love towards me.

My cat is the cutest thing ever, whenever me or my dad talks to her she meows back and stares directly at you, also whenever you sneeze she meows as you as if shes saying "bless you"

My cats smile it's only a slight difference but when I look for it I see there little smile
