This and four other Slay the Spire streams happened a few months ago. I believe the next one was played with chat integration. The others were not. Does anyone want the other FTL streams on youtube as well?
Is this another “I don’t think I’ll like this game” and he ended up liking it? I love it when that happens with Joe - his cold cynicism gets broken and homie just goes in.
Another late reply, but as a person who tends to get really frustrated watching people play certain games, I thought he played incredibly for someone with no experience. Of course I might just be *very* stupid.
@@Maelthorn1337 definitely agree with that, most of his mistakes were made in order to learn a new mechanic that you can't expect a first time player to already know
As a time traveler I have 700+ hours on this game and just wanted to say chat was mostly wrong with their advice and facepalming. Joe was really good for a new player and I wished he listened to himself more.
The defect reminds me a lot of the mage from xenoblade 1. You can either have orbs with passive effects or discharge them for stronger effects. It really is so similar that I wonder if they were inspired by that.
Slay the Spire is infamous for backseating chat. I've only ever seen it even remotely work for FrostPrime but that's from a combination of Frost knowing when advice is just bad (or he doesn't like playing that way) and the chat being much smaller with a higher percentage of people who have played the game extensively.
Man, love the content, as always. But you should go with your gut more in these kind of instance. You had it down when you refused chat saying "how would I know that?" with the whole smoke bomb shebang. That's exactly the kind of thought process a stellar critic should have, and that 99% don't, looking at a game as a consumer would, without aid or vices or whatever, and you should be proud of it. Most are just concerned with how their image shows to the public, and would gladly take shortcuts if it means they're appearing as "good gamers". It showed when you got really angry at yourself for ignoring it, and kind of sabotaged the current run. Principles are key for an honest look at a content, and you've got them in spades, contrary to most other sources. It's kind of why so many follow you. It certainly is why I do. Not only is your take on games really well thought out and consistent throughout, but especially it's honest. One may disagree with your conclusions, but there's no way one cannot respect them, and appreciate the criticisms. And it's why so many follow your streams and playthrough videos. It's not for the interaction with chat (though it's funny most of the time), and for all the traps a streamer usually falls onto. IMO Joseph Anderson the critic has a unique take on streams, that isn't seen anywhere else, and you shouldn't have to pander or otherwise follow some bs popular modus operandi, if it ever means betraying your critic instincts. The quality suffers when you do so, and, again, it showed that you got angry at yourself. Side note, and it's really none of my anonymous business, but I'm compelled to point it out: you should really treasure your wife, if you don't already. She seems really perceptive, caring and understanding. Your family seems awesome.
3:36:00 So painful... chat is being dumb -- as long as a card is better than your average card, take it!. You are new, so don't see it, but there's a Genetic up for offer. There's another 8-10 fights in the game, that's a 25+ block card vs the end boss for 1 energy. It's even pre-upgraded! Should be an easy choice. Wait, never mind, chat was right, you keep forgetting to actually play the GA to upgrade it.
Hey, Vod squad here. In the beginning of this stream you talked about a bunch of games you were going to play on stream. One mentioned was ace Attourney. Has that stream happened yet? If so, that vod would be a great one to upload here on YT
I do not believe that Ace Attorney has been streamed yet. If I remember correctly, Joe was waiting for the game to release on PC, but he has also been working on the Witcher videos. His stream backlog is fairly long the last time I heard.
Poor Joseph is getting bullied so hard by chat over this game and I can't tell if he's genuinely pissed off with them or just hamming it up for a joke. Like let the man play his vidya.

That moment we all have to go through to learn that a curse only transforms into a curse lol
It's so good.
At least he got an Injury, that's miles better than Regret.

Joe literally makes out with a card
The infamous sipping nonexisting tea
The fact that he doesn’t play terror immediately when he gets it infuriates me. ITS LITERALLY 50% MORE DAMAGE
It was frustrating watching you play this, loved it. Watched the full 5 hours and just bought the game.
this is the highest praise to a game, Northernlion has made me buy a lot of games for this very reason

Holy smokes chat just couldn't stop the backseating during this stream, haha.

Wow, you guys have some really specific child goals...
We're just like, "Mmm, yeah maybe two? Two of whatever..."
Are you a mimic?
Slay the spire is truly the dark souls of roguelike games.
No game knowledge at all but already making more rational decisions than I did 10 games in.
Same XD

Well put dude. Im appreciate you posting this.
Good comment. Thank you for taking the time with it.
This is dope my guy
In this stream, Joe learns that it is possible for you to flip heads twice in a row.
(I kid, I kid)
Joe: Ok so regret is gone
Me: oh my sweet summer child
The great stuff starts at 0:00
OMG IT'S JOE! GET IN MY RETINAS!
"Am I overvaluing caltrops"
*me, staring lovingly at my "Come at me" achievement*: nno, I wouldn't say so
Ooh slay the spire. This is going to be fun!

As soon as I saw him pick Noxious Fumes over Alchemize I REALLY wanted a "with chat" version of this vod.
24:10 if there wasn't atleast one persona joke, I will be disappointed in this community
Last night I killed deca and donu in three turns with corpse explosion and 2 catalysts
59:06 oof
HELL YEAH! FIRST STREAM WAS AMAZING!
He said "Phase 2?" to Deca and Donu! Wow, he didn't even take any damage from them
This is awesome stuff.
5 hours of slay the spire with joe
Card games are so much fun.
6:08 updated bed report?
Has he played Outer Wilds?
I think he said he'll play it when it comes out in full
@@ilanlopez9826 Well, it's out. Unless he means out of the Epic Store.
I'm not sure
11 months later, he finally played it. It's on his twitch channel.
@@classycatvidplace959 Oh I was there, watched it all. Even him throwing himself into the sun for two hours straight. Twice. And it was glorious.
