  • The reasons why people Monkey Branching are complex and multifaceted, varying from individual to individual and situation to situation.
However, some common underlying factors and motivations may contribute to infidelity:
    00:00 - Introduction
2:09 - why it's important to understand monkey branching
    3:43 1. Emotional Weakness/ immaturity
A healthy person is able to communicate and face the emotional consequences of a break up
    5:49 2. Fear Of Regret
    The point of "No return"
They want to do something that is irreversible, they are afraid that if they will just make a decision, they will regret it.
    8:24 3. Emotional Support
They think that by going with someone else will provide emotional support and they can bypass the emotional pain that comes with breaking up with a love one
    10:18 4. Unmet Needs
One of the most common reasons people Monkey Branching is a sense of unmet emotional or physical needs within their current relationship. This could include a lack of emotional intimacy, affection, communication, or sexual satisfaction.
12:00 5. Desire for Novelty or Excitement
Some individuals may Monkey Branch because they crave novelty, excitement, or validation from new romantic or sexual encounters. They may be seeking an adrenaline rush or a sense of thrill that is lacking in their current relationship.
    13:33 6. Emotional Disconnect
Feelings of emotional disconnect or detachment from their partner can lead some individuals to seek emotional connection and validation outside of their relationship. They may turn to someone else to fulfill their emotional needs and provide them with the attention and affection they crave.
13:59 7. Low Commitment or Investment
People who are less committed or invested in their relationship may be more prone to Monkey Branch. They may not prioritize their partner's feelings or the sanctity of the relationship, making them more susceptible to engaging in infidelity.
    15:28 8. Revenge or Retaliation
In some cases, Monkey Branching may be driven by feelings of anger, resentment, or a desire for revenge toward their partner. They may Monkey Branch as a way to retaliate for perceived wrongs or betrayals within the relationship.
16:13 9. Serial Infidelity or Personality Traits
For some individuals, Monkey Branching may be a pattern of behavior linked to personality traits such as impulsivity, narcissism, or a lack of empathy. They may engage in serial infidelity without much regard for the consequences or impact on their partners.
    18:14 Conclusion
*It's important to recognize that while these factors may contribute to Monkey Branching, they do not excuse or justify the behavior. Monkey Branching can have profound and far-reaching consequences for individuals and relationships, often causing significant emotional pain, betrayal, and trust issues.
Building and maintaining healthy, respectful, and mutually fulfilling relationships requires open communication, trust, commitment, and a willingness to address issues constructively.

Moving on is the best decision I ever made. You completely flip the power dynamic when you let the person go, and just move on with your life.

I love your videos. You have evidence that is right on. Yes, the monkey branch. It's been nine months since my ex fearful avoidant monkey branched. We were together four years in a mostly good relationship/situationship. When it became real and he developed deep feelings, he began the slow fade. I noticed he felt uncomfortable talking about feelings so I let it go. I am mostly secure, independent, and have my own life. I let him have his space. He monkey branched to a woman with emotional problems, aided by her family who wanted to help her with an issue. "Low hanging fruit", let's call it what it is. My ex wanted to date and be friends with me. He even tried to minimize our relationship. That's what avoidants do AVOID. Nope, no friendship, no tears, no questions, no complaints, I let him go and wished him well.. Deleted social media, phone contacts, threw s**t out. I am tough and I don't play. My heart was broken, but I am healing and becoming my best self. Actually, I am happier now that his a** is not around. In hindsight, I think they are a better fit. They both have emotional problems and are probably compatible.

In my case the cause was fearful avoidant. That's what they do. They also ghost. Also, the new love has no idea that I exist!! Can you imagine that!!

My heart goes out to you. I've just found out seven months after being discarded by my FA ex (4yrs living together, doing IVF to start a family too) that he monkey branched. He was extremely abusive and turned violent during the relationship, but also expressed genuine distress about this, what I now understand is an extreme pushaway. Obviously he had considerable positive qualities or I wouldn't have stayed. I didn't know about attachment theory until I moved out, for my own safety, and I am FA as well - however I've been in intensive therapy for some years for childhood trauma, so I embraced the self-work, he didn't, we stayed together working on things and were going to move back in but the more emotionally secure I got, the worse his rages and attacks got. I relate to your story because after the break up, he blocked me, leaving me with considerable shared bills, as well as frozen embryos - outright ghosted me. He's also rewritten history about our relationship, it's disturbing. I now think severe avoidants cause their partners more damage than narcissists. Finding out about this other girl is a relief on some level even though it's brought up all the pain all over again. It's scary to think how much damage these people go on to do to the next person. Take care of yourself.

In hindsight my ex who cheated on me was very emotionally immature. 5 years, every single day she was my only priority. I lost myself in the process and the rest is history. One thing that has really helped move forward each day is not so much forgiveness but consciously doing my best to not hold resentment. She is human, she fucked me in the most painful way but I hope she is well. I think being the bigger person when someone betrays and hurts you is pivotal to growth and moving forward.

Sorry to hear that brother. I've made similar mistakes as you.
Mine left me after 7 years, took our dog and went to her mum. She started dating a guy after 3 weeks. Had to tell me that, because she thought it would make it "easier" to let her go...
I've made the mistake to reach out and chase her after a month of no contact.
In your case, don't take her back, never....

    • @rebecca_stone
      @rebecca_stone 25 днів тому

Glad forgiveness is the path forward for you. My view is that it's not necessarily pivotal nor even essential for everyone in order to move forward - my situation involved DV and sounds very different from yours. Unfortunately some of us have had our compassion and forgiveness used as weapons against us for so long, that what's pivotal to moving forward is to stop forgiving and see people for what they are. For me, once I process the pain of this, indifference is my goal. Take care

i am actually in the stage, where I don't know where she monkey-branched or rebound into another person.
Said she met a person 2-3 weeks after break up, they are only getting to know each other... usually i would believe her, but before the breakup we were silent for two weaks and went out alone as a passive-aggressive action.
Told me: " what does it bother you? You don't even care for me and ask me where i am going?"
I believe she met him in this time, but didn't do anything and had him more as backup..

Unfortunately I didnt give enough attention, support and future guarantee she was looking for in our relationship and I pushed her away sometimes. I didnt cheat or didnt talk with other girls. Then she monkey branched. When we sat for the last time flowers on my hand and begging her to give me another chance, she was cold and told me she was seeing another guy. That week they started to live together. I blame myself since then and month passed by, they are happy and I'm in excruciating pain, I keep blaming myself and cant move on. She was the greatest I had partner until now. I miss her deeply. My ex posted stories on social media which she never did with me. I don't know what to do, even now I'm ready to take her back.

Is it still considered monkey branching if my ex leaves me for his own reasons but has still been talking to his female friend about our issues through the last several months… and then quickly after we split he starts seeing his friend and she moves in with him?
