Thanks for the update mate, personally I agree that it needs more features. I’d like it to have:
    • A flashing LED on the face when it rings so when you are in noisy environments you have a visual indicator
    • A range of chimes
    • Plug for Australia (as soon as possible please)
    • A repeating chime option
    • Connectivity to a door sensor (Ubiquiti needs to make (hardwired) door sensors and (hardwired) smart switches so that when a door opens either a light turns on, or an air conditioner/fan turns off etc.)
    • And basically all the features of the smart sensor but in a plug in version (hydrometer, thermometer, intrusion alarm etc.)
Thanks again for the review, keep up the great work.

I think they could add more options to this device, like you can set the chime to sound if the temperature sensor of your rack/data center detect high temperature or your back yard camara detect movement, your kid open his room door at night, etc

This s good too. If it can integrate with cameras, you can set it to alarm if a backyard pool detects movement, such as a child or pet falling in.
This has countless possibilities. A year later and still crickets.

Thanks for the video, I just installed mine, works fine. One comment: I saw it on other reviews that in the G4 settings you should not set the chime type to digital. It is only needed if you have a connected digital chime, because in that case the doorbell is wired to this digital chime and therefore shares power with it. UB Smart Chime is digital but not the same way as a normal digital chime. This is the reason why you cannot adjust the ringing time in the settings. UB recommends digital chimes on their website.

Hi, I know it is an old video. I managed to connect two chimes to the G4 doorbell, but there is no way to change their IP address. They are now sitting in the "main Unifi VLAN" network (10.0.10.x), but I didn't set up a SSID to connect to it through wifi, only cabled connections. I had created a separate VLAN for the cameras (10.0.20.x), where the G4 doorbell is correctly assigned, but I don't see any option to change network / SSID / VLAN for the chimes. It is a bit scary that they sit on the "main" VLAN. How is that even possible?

Just (finally). got hold of the G4 Doorbell Pro, POE adapter and Smart Chime. Should be simple setting up the chime. I mean what can go wrong? Well after an hour and multiple resets watching the pairing stop and fail only to see it still shows as needing to be adopted and repeat the cycle, I caught on to the fact the doorbell was not on my wifi network but connected using POE so the chime will never link to the doorbell over my wifi network although it shows up in the web portal for Unifi OS. So I'm thinking I reconnect the doorbell using a USB-c plug and wifi and then pair the doorbell. Will it still work when I do the final installation of the G4 doorbell pro using the POE connection or must the doorbell always be wifi connected for the chime to operate after they are paired?

So I found out the hard way, but you are supposed to choose no chime, not digital. I had mechanical chime, bypassed it to use this, set to digital. First time pressing the button basically bricked it. RMA in process. The documentation is lacking, and should have specifically stated which chime setting to use, so I'm a bit upset about that.

    • @tngui79
      @tngui79 Рік тому

Documentation on G4 doorbell specifically warns not to enable the connected chime to digital or mechanical unless you have a physical chime connected as it sends additional power out. Not surprised it bricked. This chime is a separate digital IP device so should be treated as such. But thank you for sharing the bricking journey

I dont see any configuration options to select which chime to use? If I setup the digital could I have it do both digital / mechanical or options to swap between the two.
Now that it has been a year, any updates on Ring tone to be used still stuck to one?
I have the Smart chime unopened on my desk. If I could use both or select which one to use I would def keep it, but not sure.
Thanks for the content, good to keep up with Unifi devices. Took me about a year to finally find the G4 pro available not constantly sold out.
