How Gordon Ramsay won THREE Michelin stars | Dish Podcast | Waitrose

- Gordon Ramsay OBE is arguably the most famous chef in the world. His global restaurant empire has been awarded 17 Michelin stars; he has hosted some of the biggest shows on UK and US TV, including Hell’s Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares; and he has a string of bestselling books. The internet loves Gordon Ramsay and a cool 60 million people follow him on social media. His new book, Restaurant Gordon Ramsay: A Story of Excellence is out now.
Angela knows exactly what Gordon likes to eat and prepares him a delicious crab linguine with chilli and garlic. Nick pours a vintage English sparkling wine, Gusbourne Exclusive Release, to toast Angela’s birthday and later some Soave, which is paired with the meal by the experts at Waitrose.
This is a really special episode as Gordon and Angela reminisce about the early days of Aubergine, the restaurant that launched their culinary careers. Nick learns a thing or two about Michelin stars, while Gordon talks family, fitness and TikTok.
This episode was released in September 2023 and was the first episode from Series 4 of Dish from Waitrose.

We can’t all have a Michelin star chef in the kitchen, but you can ask Angela for help.
Send your dilemmas to dish@waitrose.co.uk and she’ll try to answer in a future episode.
Dish is a S:E Creative Studio production for Waitrose
gordon trying to make sure angela got home safe is so sweet 🥹
I fully get that this is like, an advertisement for Waitrose, but I feel like this show should be a full-length, possibly 1 hour long weekly Netflix series with a combo of the interview of the guest and with a full cooking/baking segment. I desire this content.
I treated my Mother to the full Restaurant Gordon Ramsay experience and we both were bowled over. My mother, for my 40th, treated me to Angela Hartnett's Murano experience and we thought we had died and gone to heaven. We love both Angela and Gordon. This interview along with Nick is just smashing. Love it!
Angela has steel confonfidence to cook for Gordon Ramsay and giggle and joke as he eats. She's phenomenal!
He used to he her boss, he half taught her how to cook 😂
They’ve been friends for years...
They go back 25 years
Angela is an amazing chef, being brave has nothing to do with it plus they worked together for years so Gordon knows exactly what he’s getting!!
Love Angela, she is always upbeat, and her laugh is great.
I’ve always been a fan of the series but there’s just something so special about having a legendary chef as a guest, talking to another legend (That’s you Angela) about how they went through it all together. So inspiring! Amazing job as always ✨
Love the story that Angela wore his chef 's jacket. Who could ever be angry with Angela?
I had the pleasure of meeting Gordon and his friends a couple of years back and can tell you hand on heart this guy is just lovely, so well mannered and down to earth. Total pleasure to chat to
It’s interesting seeing how Angela holds herself in this show; you can tell she respects him dearly and holds him in high esteem.
But not in a cringe fan girl way...I love her and her laugh.😊
I love Gordon. He worked hard and earned his status. Moreover, he is a teacher. Say what you want about “celebrity chefs” but Chef Ramsey is the real deal. I’ve had the pleasure of eating in a couple of his restaurants and they are genuinely some of the best meals AND service I’ve experienced.
Gordon Ramsay speaks with such admiration, respect and affection about the women in his life - his mum, Tana, Tilly and Angela here. It's awesome
Loved this pod SO MUCH
I tripped over my dog to push play on this
😆hope doggo is ok.... another great guest and video
this is so relatable. I haven't clicked on a video faster 🤣
I don’t doubt it! I have been WAITING for this one to drop! ❤
No you didn't
😂
The only criticism i have of this podcast was that it was too short.
I came here to say the same thing. IT WAS TOO SHORT! T_T
My thoughts exactly!
Yeah It should be 2 days straight
Good one @@raihanbagaskara3531
This show just wasn’t long enough…. Angela and Nick have great chemistry!!❤❤
Nick & Angela are a great team xx
I Love Gordon Ramsey. He once stopped a show to listen to my request when I put up my hand to say, “Excuse me, but we can't hear you in the back, and we don't want to seem rude by not laughing and enjoying your banter while you cook”. He gave me a free copy of his book and thanked me for letting him know there was an issue. Then afterwards he signed my book ❤
AHH! Please have him back this was SO good! I want to hear more about Ang and Gordon back in the day
Yeah we needed more stories about back in the day stuff
“40 thousand, that’s huge! i’ve got 40 th- oh sorry, FORTY MILLION on tiktok.” lmaoooooo 😩😭
Artificial world
I listened to this episode a while back and it's still one of my favourites! So nice to see it in video format 😁

I had no idea Angela was such an OG. This was an illuminating episode in the best possible way. Brilliant.
I adore this podcast! Nick is the perfect anchor
I absolutely love the relaxed conversation of this episode. As an audience, we are just witnesses of an incredibly comfortable chat around a table.
im in awe of the relationship between angela and gordon
Angela and Gordon together is the zenith.
Love love love!!! So entertaining and so much adoration and respect between Angela and Gordon. Great job Dish team!!! 🥰
I LOVED the chemistry that Gordon and Angela obviously have... Now I need to go and by the book... And continue listening to your podcast of course...!!!
I never clicked this fast on a notification before
I'm on the same level
Saw the thumbnail, had a heart palpitation, and clicked as fast as I could 🫡I love this podcast 😂
Right!😅
OKAY!!!
I’m on the shame list then….
I really enjoy Gordon this show really showed me that he has a charming personality
Nick and I have the same birthday!! He totally has Leo energy! Love
I was in Maze, a Gordon Ramsay restaurant in London a few years ago and it was phenomenal. The food was exquisite. He is amazing. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
A fried of ours worked in the Savoy, in London, as a Chef. It's the most hard work under pressure, most of the time.
I admire their commitment, and love of food and cooking, as without it, you could not work in that environment each and everyday, it would seriously, burn you out.
That was a great chinwag to Gordon Ramsay just to hear about the GOAT chef of all time. Gordon Ramsay is my favourite chef ever.
I was never into podcasts, I am so glad these were released in video! Love the hosts, and with food involved, you certainly need more than just your sense of hearing for this. Been a fan of Gordon's and now more recently of Angela's. And yes, Nick!
Gordon Ramsey is my favourite chef. I credit all my cooking skill and ability to him!
Such a wonderful reunion and interview! I love Chef Ramsay! Thank you! ❤❤❤
finally!!!!! this episode will be in the millions !!! lets go GORDON!!! please do GINO d'campo and fred please
Well , I for some reason, am awake this morning here on Cape Cod , and something brought me to watch this episode , I'm so glad it did !! This was just great all around !!
I watched this episode of the several times, because I enjoyed the atmosphere of so much! The chemistry between you three is fenomenal! And how Angela and Gordon treat each other - priceless! ❤
I’m glad Gordon Ramsay is showing his sense of humor. He seems like such a lovely, generous guy.
He's not he tried to sabotage so many careers including Marco Pierre white and hates female chefs
@@petesmart1983 doubt angela feels he hates female chefs he taught her
@@vernyleealso he’s worked with many female chefs alongside many female chefs who got an executive chef role at some of his restaurants from Hell’s Kitchen
@@chazgames3690 i know
@@petesmart1983Don talk so much absolute rubbish.
He’s so charming and funny! Love this trio and the backstory’s shared - really entertaining episode! ❤
The last short I watched was him yelling at a cooking contestant “WHAT THE FUXK IS TIKTOK?!” 😂 I’m only just now realizing he was joking as he has one. Gotta love him 😂
For years and years, I have admired Angela as an Iron chef. The work her, Gordon, Marcus et al did, makes them stand out and rightly so. Been in a special team myself working 16 hour days 6 days a week (not cooking) but after those 2 years doing it we became the most wanted in our skill set i know of UK wide.
What a day to wATch this..happy birthday Nick! Angela love your quiet confidence of every meal.
I think thats the best interview Chef has done yet. Very casual and light hearted and we get to see the real Gordon..so well done
Please do an Aubergine Reunion episode and talk about the first dishes on the menu. As well as the stories during each service. I am sure you have plenty😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Think Marcus and Gordon need to make up? They had a falling out a while, not sure if they made up, but it won't happen anytime soon.
My new favourite podcast ❤
This is only my second delightful visit. What ambience 🎉 Time flies.
Thank you Angela hartnell my mother took me to yours and your restaurant was fantastic
@@nickjackson3255 what?
Wow. I loved Gordon as your guest! Such an awesome insight with him and Angela! And I’m going to look up his book as well. Thank you❤👏🏼🤗
Hearing Gordon talk about their experience as the team in the earlier days of career, Dominate 6 can be a great name of the movie ever made on them.
Nick is kind of star struck it’s cute ❤
Finally the full version!! Thank you
Such a lovely episode, time flew by. It felt like a reunion of old friedns, which it was, but I just really like this sort of laid-back vibe and banter.
At 8:39 looks like Angela is having Vietnam War Flashbacks playing out as Gordon speak, it must have been really brutal.
Also Gordon has such a lively and fast-paced way of speaking that I can't help but be on my tiptoes to keep up.
finally the full version!
Met ange and Gordon as my former life as a chef both lovely people 😊
40 thousand to 40 million joke got me 😂🤣👏
I read your comment literally as he said it 😅
watching just now and Nick says his bday is august 14th... wow, happy bday Nick :D
Watching on Aug 14! Happy Birthday, Nick!!! 🎉Gorgeous glasses!
I teally enjoyed this, your guests are fantastic and thr interview style x
I truly admire, Gordon. An outstanding person. Oscar tale... hilarious!
Gordon already said the perfect title for the movie… “The team at Aubergine”!!
Thank god you’re going though the older episodes! Wish you had done the videos from the very beginning!
Gordon Ramsay! Marcus Wearing Angela Hartnett amd Marc seargent! What a team
Gr came across as very personable. I enjoyed this thank you
You need to make this podcast longer
This was so lovely to watch ❤
Hello, would you consider adding english subtitles to the full interviews? I‘m not a native english speaker and sometimes when you speak fast or make a quick joke I can‘t understand. Thank you very much :) i love this podcast!
I have English subtitles showing
Great. No Waitrose bag for Gordon?
They cut out the part about his wife secretly wanting to have a sixth kid… which they now have 😂
Love the colour scheme and lighting of this set!😍
What a feast this was. Absolutely fantastic work with this podcast.
These need to be longer
❤Thanks for this!! Bless you!!

Brilliant!! Interesting, entertaining
First time I'm watching a full episode. Usually it's just the shorts. But Gordon got me pushing play from the start. Thanks for the back story between Angela and the Godfather. New subscriber alert ❤

I also broke my neck to push play on the video. I saw the short about the jacket and was so sad the entire video wasnt up a while back. Ive already hit the like button so now ill go watch it. ✌
That went way too fast 😊
Best episode!
Loved this ep!!!❤️
Love!
What a great interview
Thank you so much for the recipe 🌹
My ex-husband was a chef. Left uni and needed a job became a kitchen help. 12 years i watched him go up and up. Better restaurants all the way to sous chef with an ex tv chef. The 16-hour shifts killed him and our relationship. He manages a car dealership now. Still talks about the kitchen craic and holds fond memories. He says never again though. 😂 ended up with a drug and alchohol problem. What they dont tell you about is the drugs.
Great show, everyone so funny….❤Donna in Toronto
you need MPW on this... legend.
