I quit drinking 5 years ago. I was throwing the stuff down my neck at a ridiculous, life shortening rate. I did 20 years with HMPS and realised that the drinking culture combined with PTSD was taking me down with it. I did the Macmillan 'Sober in October' challenge and just kept going. I thought I was going to die - the headaches and shits lasted for about 2 months but I kept with it. I watched motivational stuff and read books by Foxy and Mark Billingham. I'm still sober and feel so much better.
Gordon completely hits the nail on the head in regards to responsibility, regardless if it's substance abuse or mental illness, when you are responsible for other people wether it be family or members of staff, Gordon's frame of mind is exactly the way my mum and dad instilled in me, you have made or built a position where you are responsible for other people, families and if you are struggling then you 110% have to be honest regardless of the consequences, you must be honest to the people who rely on you to survive, Gordon is an absolute inspiration as a Scottish entrepreneur and self employed individual he has inspired me to stay strong and helped me get through some of the darkest times in my life 🙏
Currently 26 years old and I'm suffering from social anxiety. Fitness I think will be my way out of it, even just getting back on track and hearing Ramsays words here have really helped. A big thank you and hope everyone here is doing well, we're all on our own journeys. Be strong brothers 💪
Hey 😊 think about what you're thinking about ... work your way towards more positive thinking, especially towards yourself. You are an amazing human!! You're going to be fine 😊😊
Over my years of training I have always struggled with addiction (I will always be an addict) and have met ALOT of people who have a similar past. At 38 now that drive that addiction gave me to keep indulging is now my drive to get out and train. Never too late to make that change.
When he said that he couldn’t focus on fitness in his 40s because he was 100% focused on his career and getting to the top, I realised just how much of a perfectionist he is. To find something that you are that passionate about is honestly beautiful.
I have to get up for work at 3:30am, but i get up an hour earlier and hit gym before i start every day monday to friday. Its not hard, im excited to start my day like that. I could go after work, but thats less time with my family. Im 37, you and healthier and fitter than ive ever been!
I’m just turned 66 and had a very near life ending motorcycle accident-prior to this I did a 60 minute exercise bike beasting session- I’m now just short of 16 weeks post accident and shuffling 1.5 miles around my house Recovering from a motorcycle accident takes incredible strength, patience, and resilience, and every step I take is a testament to that power within me. Each day that I push a little further, each step that I add, is a reminder that my spirit is stronger than any setback. The road to recovery may not be quick or easy, but every small milestone is a victory, bringing me closer to a life of renewed strength and freedom. I need to have the courage it takes to face the challenges head-on, and let every step forward fuel my determination to keep going. I’m building back, step by step, and proving to myself that I can overcome even the toughest of trials. I will stay committed, stay focused, and trust that I am making incredible progress with every stride.
Foxy is special forces so of course he is a beast. But i have watched a lot of Gordon doing triathlons, swimming and he even done the Royal Marines assault course and done training with the US marines. Gordon is certified bad ass.🙏
I worked in pub kitchens from 15-17 and at that age being around full time drinkers it really put me off being a chef. I went into the trades and karate. Now I'm 43, i teach Japanese mma, karate and help run a maintenance company. Getting out of washing dishes and cutting vegetables was the best thing I ever did 👍
I tell you the craziest thing about this... Men talking about health in a Men's Health piece. Hopefully they're actually listening to the customers now.
It cannot be easy of who these guys are and the mental they put them selves through on a pro rata basis. We all hit the point of break down at some part in our lives - and obstacles are real.
So what, Gordon went the other way and made his money. Gordon's got balls watch Gordon on cocaine. He travelled to places most men wouldn't even foxy went same places and was wary.
@@ThomasSelwaySo is Foxy now or do you think SAS: Who Dares Wins isn’t a reality tv show? Gordon is a highly rated chef. Do you know the time, effort, dedication and talent it takes to reach the top of any profession?
These two blokes are obsessive, driven individuals. I'm not saying that that is a bad thing, it's just not even the slightest approximation of my own personality. I am just pleased I am not like them; it would be so exhausting. I'm in the middle of painting my kitchen cabinets and have stopped for a well-deserved Brewdog IPA. As long as I've finished by Christmas, all is good. I am so easily pleased by life.
Gordons son is a RM commando. That's an achievement. Him and his wife seem to have instilled good work ethics and values in their children. Unlike the Beckhams...
A message to the people that can’t control their drink and put everyone in the same category. Most of us can drink in moderation and it not be a problem. Just because you have an addictive personality, it doesn’t mean the rest of us have.
@@RickC-oo1hm yeah but you're ex RM ie always been fit. Ramsey was fat and drank a lot most of his life, as well as other substances. You can't just flip that in your late 30s/early 40s, work 12 hours a day while eating as little as his does and have that energy at almost 60. No way.

@@davidlynch9049 Not everyone can work as a chef. It takes talent, ability and luck with press recognition and constant customers. Most businesses fail. Complex trauma leads to addiction. One brother becomes addicted to pressure, success, physical training and fame. One becomes addicted to Cocaine, Heroin and booze. Both do it to ease the pain, but one journey is adaptive, the other maladaptive. How long until we understand that trauma is the root cause of addiction, and that addiction is just a coping mechanism. Moving from judgement to curiosity must be the path to empathy and helping others.
It's not easy to motivate your self some times especially when you have a real health concern and some really bad fucking luck and everything knocks you back continuously starting back exercising doing everything right and still your body just fails and lays you up for weeks and all you want to do is go for a run or go to the gym just doing what you can when can be so frustrating. What’s the point in working yourself that hard. Millionaire many multiple times over. Hasn’t got time for more than 30mins a day training. When is enough enough. It’s only money.
It's not about the money, as he mentioned. It's about that drive to just keep growing (as in developing), first as a chef himself and then teaching and being able to give back.
It kinda sad that this is being pushed as good mental health, I get it that someone staying away from drugs and alcohol and exercising regularly is very possitive but It looks like gordon has fallen into a trap fuelled by fear, and an inability to take a break. There is nothing healthy about over working yourself and running away from your fears, he said his ability to heal quickly was was because he trains hard but training hard was the very thing that got him injured, I do agree with him that being fit and healthy wil help you heal but he is ignoring the fact that pushing himself too hard at an old age put him there in the first place.

I can not express from being super fit to falling off the wagon and being super fit again. Absolutely essential people get themselves fit. You don't need to be the best. Just strive for improvement and find what you enjoy.
Even though he definitely doesn’t need the money. Hope he sued the council. Councils need to learn, neglect is not on and can cause injury or death at the worst. We have to be responsible for the fitness and road worthy condition of the vehicle and it should be the same for the road. Unfit road then fines like we’d be fined for unfit vehicle.
Gordon has always had an incredible energy level and drive. He's kept himself fit and it proves even at his age you can keep on top of your game
