- Stock ZR1 at a track day at Road America. This is the 1st day in the car on track and only the 3rd session of the day.

Very impressive. I watched your ZR1 Owners course videos before I went for my ZR1 class at Ron Fellows and it helped me quite a bit, thanks.

That is the standard Cosworth graphics package on the Corvette's Performance Data Recorder video/data package. I have the same package on my Grand Sport.

You're passing people as If it's just a highway drive and everyone is cruising at a set speed. I couldn't imagine being in my car, come around a corner wide open. Then this thing just shoots by like excuse me sir just gonna put busses on you before the next corner
Patrick H I was thinking the same thing. At first, it looks like some of the other cars are just on a Sunday drive but then you realize they're probably giving it at least 90% and the vette walks right by. He managed 28 miles in 18 minutes, average speed is 90 mph

It took a while but he kinda showed what that car is capable of, there is no other car in the world that can perform like that for the money, love it
Very impressive. It handles exceptionally well. The power is tremendous. Porsches, Vipers, even Godzilla waved you around. You passed just about every car on the track. Chevy has done a great job on this one, they needed it after the Z06 debacle.
About time to see the ZR1 in its real element!

Teslas cant do this. They'd go into limp mode after like 3 laps, from battery heat.
And they have "race mode" which whenever you race them, they get scared and wet themselves
and overcooking the brakes, those things weigh like 5000 lbs
What a machine!!!! The car is probably on stock tires. The Porsche's come with Sport Cup 2's tires. He was probably letting the tires get up to temp. Imagine if he was on track tires like Pirelli's Trofeo R's....they drop your lap times by like 2 sec. Either way, it's still impressive right off the showroom floor. Off course, this is years of running R&D in IMSA Petite LeMans & 24 Hours of LeMans in the GTLM class .

Thank you! I'm already sick of seeing these at drag strips, it was made for a road course. Seems like that Trac control is a little hyper sensitive, it was kicking in.. in a straight line under braking. A lot.

The ZR1's closing rate on the slower cars is amazing. Even has a tighter racing line than some of the smaller and lighter cars.

Watching this video was so enjoyable and frustrating. You were no where near the cars limits. You can easily hit 170 on Road America. And you can brake so late down the hills into a turn. But I get everyone ain't a race car driver. I just know what my car can truly do. Well done mate.

I live in EL been to RA for over 40 yrs. Seems coming out of corner 14 going up the hill at about the 20 min mark was the only time ugot into 6th seem like that shift was a bit to soon.IMHO. Otherwise great run. How much Fuel did U start with?
14 Gallons is what I started with.

And the crazy thing is you weren't even going full-out on the brakes or taking the kink flat out (which is entirely possible with big enough balls). I can't imagine this thing with slicks and a sequential.

Was the cars transmission acting up or does manual paddle shift allow you to hit the rev limiter? just curious. the car is fast and probably still very new to you and errors happen. Regardless awesome driving. I'm not a big gm fan but the zr1 is a beast. please reply about the transmission. quick disclaimer I'm not hating on the car or looking for weak points I just noticed a few rev limiter hits and want to know if it's just simple driver error or the transmission.
PowerUnknown so I'll take some of the blame as the driver. I'm use to racecars that shift the instant I hit the paddle. The car was trying to learn me while I was trying to learn it.
bluterek155 thanks for replying. I figured it was just driver error. trust me I have plenty of my own! I'm sure some transmission tuning can speed up the shifts. so I've heard. I'm more of a manual guy myself but friends of mine with autos have had some adjustments made to speed up the shifts on other cars. nice car btw have fun and please keep posting videos!
Quick question was the car in front of you the first couple of laps a 991.2 gt3? And did any of the gt3s keep up after you passed them? because in the first few corners it looked faster in the corners but on the straight away you where killing it. Last question, at the end of the video the guy says he smells something what was it?
TheCa007 I was quicker in the corners by a little. It was day 1 in the car in track I would like to think I'll get better as time goes on. I assume it was brakes.
Dude, you can drive your ass off. I had to take a couple pointers from you and apply them to Forza..You were attacking those corners.
It’s easier in real life with a wheel than a stupid xbox controller.
Chuck Beef not all people that play forza use a controller lol the do have force feedback wheels nowadays.
Atribecalledkush yea its way too different. I feel like once you get some seat time or drive the shit out of your car in real life, there's no replacement for that. Unless they develop a chair where you can feel the weight of the car, it turning and all that extra stuff, I'll never touch another racing simulation game ever again.
That E46 was running real good. Zr1 just has the top speed

Looked like a lot of fun! How come you didn't use any of the PTM modes while in track mode? That car has them too, right? It would have helped keep the nannies from intruding as much as they did, which is not good for your brake pads.
I think this was my 1st time out in the ZR1, still had the temp tag on it. I was coming from 3 years of winged formula cars with slicks and half the cylinders, seemed like the safer option.
You & I seem to have something in common. We're both spooked by turn 5.

This an auto car or 7MT? Sounds like an auto and damn impressive on the upshifts. Downshifts still seem a bit slow, and the 4th to 5th spacing seems a bit odd...otherwise outstanding

I agree with one of the other posts that auto for competitive driving only. I still love the manual. But we all are going to have to adjust to auto in future.

thats right you got all them fools bmw ,porsche and another fellow corvette had them all for lunch i like they way you laid back at first let the tires warm up so they would hook up better good job driving for sure id take a different line threw the corners but what your doing its working maybe i learned something watching you race i always come into corner tight you go into corner high then low come out high it seems to work good for you .....these guys cant hang with a supercharged corvette,.... i bet they all are pissed off!!
