Probably because he was driving slow AF. Once randy got on the first couple of turns it was already better. I watched the whole thing, the beginning was a disappointment when he couldnt pass a GT350R. His ZR1 is on slicks, he's in advanced group, fuck man, only thing needed is a driver that will put the ZR1 through its paces.
@@arthurmchugh5184 I'm driving a 2013 Porsche Carrera S. I actually just met Randy a week ago at VIR. What a great ambassador of the sport. Enthusiastic and generous with his time.
@@timothygould3542 Hey man!! Sounds like a great car you have! I am pretty poor 🤣🤣 but I love the track, so I drag my 1986 944 turbo out and give it the beans!! I have gone to a few AER races and I saw randy there driving a BMW on a team !! Spoke with him a bit and he did seem like a great guy!! @@arthurmchugh5184 Look like you were have a good time passing those 911s. I will have to try to get to Summit Point sometime. I only have a handful of DE events under my belt. I plan to get back to VIR a couple of times this year.
I was there that weekend (long beach red z06 in instructor group) and I meet Randy P for first time. Congrats for having Randy as an instructor AND driver of your ZR1!!!
So cool that you had Randy Pobst as a private instructor. It was cool watching him modulate the throttle to find traction in second as he hit the front straight. I guess that will happen when you've got all that power.
Man that looks fun! I would absolutely love to have that opportunity with, IMO, a true legend of motor sports. Oh yeah...your ZR1 is pretty sweet too lol
That Chevy gets it's real rogering beginning at 15:30. Wow, thanks for the upload. Great free driving lesson. I agree on the tough-to-learn skill of late, hard braking!
He was dead on with the 2nd gear issue and was driving me nuts in the beginning. I have a bit less experience than the driver and really thank him for the posting as listening to the interaction was awesome and sharing quite helpful. What an experience to lap with Pobst giving advice...
WOW! Randy Pobst as instructor in your car! Awesome video. Great track. And of course he beats my best time by a second even with traffic. Great post. Thanks for sharing.
I wanted to reach through my screen and shake that guy in the Lotus. I thought he was going to take out that Porsche in the corner. Randy P is awesome!
Imagine it and it will happen. Thoughts are things and you can have anything you want. If you imagine it is too expensive, then it will be too expensive. I track my car once a month. Cost per year, about $5000 for track fees and $5000 for incidentals. Pricey but absolutely doable. You can run any car that meets safety and roadworthiness requirements. One track experience will cost you from 300 to 500 depending on the track. Certainly, you can afford to do that. Right? Go get 'em cody. It is SO fun! Give Hooked on Driving a look on the web.
KPAX lol i live in a town of 1,000 people and make about 20k a year and the closest track is about 500 miles away. So its a little difficult for me to do. I do want to go to a motorcycle track one of these years though ;).
Randy is great, of course. It is unfortunate that the session had so much traffic. Randy was never able to do anything more than about 6/10ths. Maybe not even that. It would have been great to see him at around 9/10ths. Even 8. And a previous commenter asked how on earth one books Randy as a driving coach. Would love to know the answer to that. Along with the cost.
Simulators are great help. The problem is people who don't take their time in real life to adjust and just go flat out immediately. This guy's took his time warming up.
Randy never said anything about how late you turn in on top of the hill. I was thinking it was way too late. Then he turned in where I thought was good. I knew it!
Also one of the issues with the auto is while they do put the power down better and keep you in the power more, they also have a massive heating issue.
Oh wow I’d love to have Randy drive my GTR on this track! I had no idea he did this I was there like 9 months ago when I first picked it up from Delicious Tuning.
Watching that was a core workout. I spent so much time squirming in my chair in response to the fake G's generated in my head that I am tired now. But it sure was fun!
Randy's talking about putting the power down with cup2 and 1 lap wonder or that fast lap. I race time attack and also went manual and do believe it's faster. Granted c7 z06 and not zr1 but does make about 50 to 70 more wheel than z06 and about 30 less than zr1. I run Goodyear supercar 3r to do hot laps. Running at cota in march
Randy, I have a Corvette C7 ZO6 question, if you please. So my car came with left, right, and middle wind deflectors under the front. I purchased a different front splitter with under tray without the provision for the middle deflector. Should I install the middle deflector? It must be there for a reason. If you have any insight I would appreciate it. Thanks
Autocrossing on michelins isn't going to be competitive. They don't compare to BFG Rivals or Bridgestone Re71r in the dry and re71r will still have them in the wet, the BFG's are terrible in rain. Good video though :D
That's also Randy the Race Driver knowing that 3rd is going to be within a blonde one of being as quick, will save your tires if you're actually racing and vastly reduces the chance of a money shift. Especially with that Chevy crashbox that feels like you're trying row gravel with a broken canoe paddle. Buy a Tremec direct from Tremec and its a true beauty, the value-engineered trash they sell GM is like when your mom claimed Toasty-Os were just as good as Honey nut Cheerios.
How does this video only have 558 views? It's a free driving lesson from Randy P himself.

Put "Peloton" or "Tom Brady Cheats" in the Title! ;-)
The obvious difference in the car owner and Randy is staggering. Couldn't help but laugh when Randy was able to get on the ZR1 thru the corners.
This is fuckin awesome!!
Why would anybody waste their time watching somebody play a video game
How on earth do you book Randy for a driving lesson?
Randy is such a class act, and an amazing teacher/coach.
Randy IMMEDIATELY adds 15mph to EVERYTHING in his first lap lol
I downloaded this video...it's a private driving lesson from the man himself
Randy Pobst beeping and talkin shit on the track, this may be the most underrated video on youtube.
This video is fuckin sweet
The other dude was driving on last few laps !
I love that Randy is enthusiastic about the sport and still instructing. I'm new to running DE events, but it seems like a great community.
Timothy Gould DE is great. It’s a bunch of people investing in driving skill and fun. Definitely addicting and Randy’s coaching is on point.
Hey driver! I've been doing DE since 2008 PCA , it is the most fun i've ever had, great way to relive aggression!!! What do you drive?

I try to watch any video with Probst. A wealth of information.
Learned a lot watching this, not sure I can remember it all. Very cool thanks for sharing this!
Those few turns at 8:50 gave me goosebumps, seeing your lines improve with Randy FREAKING Pobst cheering you on was incredible.
I would love to drive/ride with Randy. It get tips on how to get the most out of your car, and to see a master of his craft at work.
This was a great vid! Randy is the best!! I see 20 thumbs down?? WHY? This is a lesson in it self!
Imagine doing this for a living and getting paid for it.

Had the luxury of Randy taking me out in my Camaro at the Charlotte Roval. Great guy and very very appreciative
Valuable lesson from Randy to keep your beautiful ride in shape with driver alive. Driver training always appreciated in a high HP car.
How cool is that..RP riding shogun and giving instructions all laid back , then hops in after a few and still giving pointers..awesome.
This video is frickin' awesome! Would love to have that opportunity with Randy.
I’m glad to see that Randy gets just as upset as I do when people suck at giving point byes. There’s no excuse for that crap in an advanced group DE
I wanted to reach through my screen and shake that guy in the Lotus. I thought he was going to take out that Porsche in the corner. Randy P is awesome!
Man just watching this gave me an adrenaline rush I cannot imagine being wealthy enough to go to a track.
its expensive?
You can afford it just not as nice of a track

Awesome video! Learning is occurring!
!3:00 'You wanna drive?' Randy "YES SIR" LOL Awesome (and the automatic comment vs manual came from the man himself) Randy the Legend.
“I have a simulator at home” famous last words
Simulators are great help. The problem is people who don't take their time in real life to adjust and just go flat out immediately. This guy's took his time warming up.
Best thing about simulators is learning track layouts and all the "racecraft", but it won't prepare you for feeling the grip limit in real life.
Randy is my living legend ... hands down ..
Randy is a lot of fun! Very real.
Randy is such an awesome person.
Randy never said anything about how late you turn in on top of the hill. I was thinking it was way too late. Then he turned in where I thought was good. I knew it!
So awesome man! I would love for Randy to drive with me and get some tips. Hopefully going to make a COTA trip this year.🏁🏎
god what I would do to have freaking randy pobst as my instructor
Very cool. What an experience. Thanks for sharing.
Great coaching job Randy

There's more too driving than just the car
lololol at that camaro for keeping Randy for that long l2point man you cant keep Randy behind you for 1 lap wtf
As much as I like randy, I feel like him saying to stay in 3rd is weird, even you thought that for a second
Krawczak torque in the ZR 1 is brutal, it’ll be a diet to manage plus third also saves you a shift.
Edward DeGalan I get what he means, and yeah that makes sense. I felt like when the guy is saying “it’s lazy in 3rd”, Randy would listen to him

3rd gear! Hahaha
guy should listen, 3rd gear dummy
He needs more confidence to push the car to it's limits
Tim Timmy bro chill if u had an expensive car like that you would take it easy too..
so many clearly inexperienced drivers out there. I could have overtaken these guys in my old e30...
