13:48 why not building some VR gloves? there was a tutorial on UA-cam to make a pair for around 30€, he's on version 4 by now. And using those gloves, you could also control the hands of the Fallout powerarmor, as it will also need robotic hands. Controlling them to mimic the gloves' movements from inside the forearms.
As an idea, it could be interesting to attach a camera to the suit, which would then be visible in the VR headset. This could enhance the experience by providing real-time visuals from the suit's perspective. These videos are really fascinating!
I love how you guys started to embrace the goofiness instead of trying to always look serious. The new videos are definitely more enjoyable with all the natural scenes and the funny bits. Keep up the good work.
@hacksmith Damn. You need to hype up your videos. Do more collabs with Linus and other big UA-camrs. In the meantime I'll just keep watching, liking, and commenting. It's the best I could do.
Your videos are doing well, so maybe there's some belt tightening required. Talk to Linus. He's also from here and he mentioned many times that he's more than happy to give consultation on how to operate a successful UA-cam channel. You can't take on the entire responsibility by yourself. You are good at what you do, so don't forget that.
I feel like that'd be such a stress on your brain, like try writing your name with both hand simultaneously, you can't and you would have to do something similar constantly
@isaacscribellito1110 If the stress on the brain is too large, a good idea is to expand the potential operational area with additional computing modules you could place in the arms. Another idea is to connect it to a system that steers it when you imagine a move, however it would be hard to use all four at once then, so the first idea is preferable. Hope it helps and remember: the easiest way to power manifest is to connect them with cables like a very thin rope and move it with incredibly small magnets
@@isaacscribellito1110 our brains are actually incredible. Think about video games for example, when fighting someone in a shooter, you are aware of your ammo, location, enemy location, parts of the map you can use as a get away, parts of the map enemies can flank you, ways you can flank your enemies, trying to dodge bullets, aiming, controlling recoil, predicting their movements, being aware of your health, thinking about if your enemy has a teammate and how to handle that, not to mention all the other details your brain subconsciously thinks about, and all this just within a few seconds of a gun fight.
James is a 90s kid. I think Ben 10 is just a bit after his time. Pokemon, Star Wars, Spider-man, and Mortal Combat were around when he was younger. He was already becoming a busy young engineering adult when Ben 10 came out.

Now it's less than a week. Personally you guys are doing some great work and at an unfathomable speed, congratulations
I get having a second person controlling the arms to start out, but imagine if they were able to integrate an EEG Array to reliably control them completely hands free. They could revolutionize the way they do projects and have various attachments for different jobs.
Yea prosthetics like these wont really become commonplace or even useful in niche applications unless we can manage to make a proper brain-computer interface that can interpret in real time what we want the arms to do. We are already making good progress on this with many companies working on it but its not perfected yet or even tested on humans. Ideally we'd also create a computer-brain interface (tho that might not be completly necessary to get tese working for things that dont need fine motor control) to do the opposite allowing us to actuallly feel with these robotic prosthetics so its possible to do very fine movements and have a way to know how strong we're gripping etc., but thats probably very far off for now as we'd first need to understand more about how our brains and nerves process this information to integrate something artificial into that.
i've always wanted to do this! i made a hat that controls a shoulder mounted platform like the predator's shoulder laser, but i never finished that project
If you didn't finished it, you didn't exactly make it did you? Unless you got like an actual working prototype that just needs refining. Otherwise at best you attempted to make it.
This kind of thing is why I love this channel/company, and why I'm considering getting one of those EDC tools when they release. I love watching Hacksmith Industries push the boundaries of what people think of as possible, while also signal boosting the others doing different parts of the work. The ability to dream up new things is what makes us human. The ingenuity and drive to make those dreams real is what makes humanity great. Is this a silly idea? Kinda. But it has potential, and someone has to take the first steps down that silly path if we are ever going to find out what lies at the end of it
The amount of thought and detail that went into building these robot arms is incredible-huge props to the Hacksmith team for showing just how far science and imagination can go
Ideally a second operator wouldn't be needed at all, but cameras and sensors would still be used to feed a computer system probably running some machine learning based control software. Pretrained algorithms could be loaded for prescribed tasks so that the AI would know what the wearer wants to achieve and what it needs to do at any point in time. Eventually a brain-computer interface such as those from NeuralLink could be integrated so that the wearer would have direct control over these appendages.
this seems useful for when you need someone that is offsite/not physically there so that they could help you with a task. Now it just needs a speaker and mic for 2 way communication and a whole a lot more polishing and fixing.

I think a great idea for this to maybe work better is if your keeping the remote controlled VR headset part of the arms, then maybe a camera for your pov that the arm operator can see through. Idk if it's possible to have it be automated yet or some ai to help guide the hands but another cool idea would be to integrate a more finger controlled thing for the hand instead of actual buttons.
