Always take the opportunities you have to bless someone, just because you can. It might mean the world to them and that act of kindness costs you so little.

I went to breakfast with a friend yesterday. She gave me $80 I’d loaned her. We came out of restaurant and I saw a homeless guy walking down side walk. I called him over and she said “ You better not be giving him my money!” I said “ Don’t worry about it. It’s my money” I handed him some cash and said “ Get something to eat Bro. I hope things get better.” I got to the car and she said “ That’s why you’re so blessed. You bless others.” Made me smile to help him out. Yes, I’m very blessed.

@@dtw63 I always saw my dad hold the door open or let people go first, give up his chair to any senior or women, he always opened the car door for my mom (something I do for my wife). My kids react the same way I did at their age, but the other day I saw my son open the door for his mom. I also try to pay for Vet’s because I am a younger disabled man who gre up with the military, but my favorite thing is paying for people’s meal at McDonald’s, my wife likes the breakfast there so some mornings I’ll grab breakfast and a couple roses but I ask the cashier what the total is and tell her to cover it usually with the change. The smile they have and the joy I feel knowing their day is starting off with this random act of kindness. One time I did it and the second window worker who I know said “that thing you did, paying for that guys food, they are still doing it, he paid for the car behind him and they paid for the ones behind them. “. Many times people just need the opportunity to see they can really impact others. Because somewhere in that line someone got a free meal because someone 6 cars ahead of them paid $5 for a guy’s sandwich and coffee, then all those people walk away having experienced the joy of receiving and giving, just because… ❤️❤️❤️

This man was a decent man. He didn't have to do this but he did.

My husband and I were in law enforcement for many years in a large city. You are correct that it is a thankless job. Saw many things you cannot “unsee”. Life can be difficult and cruel for many people. There are more good cops than bad. We and others I know bought groceries, OTC medicines and other necessities for those who cannot afford them over the years. It breaks my heart to watch those who want to destroy the structure of our law enforcement and ultimately our society by demonizing these men and women.

As someone who has also worked in public safety, both in a public and private setting, it is not just a job for a paycheck, it is a career, to help the public and make the world a safer and better place.

I always try to think of what homeless go through. It’s something that can happen to anyone. The officer showed compassion which is what she needed. He handled it very well and he is a credit to that police force. Thanks Polo for showing this and reminding us that kindness goes farther than antagonism. 👏👏🥰

Nothing makes a person feel better inside than doing something to help another human being. Nothing. There is no feeling like it. Blessings to both of them.

One human being seeing another human in need decides to help, practically and with a warning too. A thoughtful man. After she was gone, the store manager should have refunded the officer, I think/wish --- the amount so small and stores dump spoiled goods every day. They may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one ..............

I’m a teacher in an urban city. I’ve been told I give too much. That they don’t appreciate it. In my opinion, it doesn’t matter. I don’t know what they went through to get to school that morning or if they had food to eat before they left home. You truly never know what someone is going through.

Love this cop, he absolutely did the right thing, which is to help and that's why they're here. There's always a few asshole cops and I've encountered some directly. My Dad was a cop in Cleveland Hts. for 30 years and he leaned toward this guy. If you have no compassion for the woman then you have no heart and absolutely should not be a cop.

After reading Amy Lane's book about the homeless my family and I decided to not do gifts for each other but to donate to the food bank and the homeless shelter. I crochet hats and mittens. Christmas gifts. If you have a home, food and adequate clothing it's your moral obligation to provide for the poor.

What a good person this officer is. I sure hope this gets the attention that videos of bad police behaviors do. Amazing to me that good people like this are even still wanting to be cops.

I feel for this woman. You can tell she has a good upbringing by how she deals with the situation and more than likely just made some bad decisions. I can honestly say that if i was the officer in this scenario, i probably would have bought her the had and gloves too. Her demeanor, facial expressions, the fact that she looks like she is about to cry, yeah she had no malicious intent. She just wants to warm up.

While help is available, it never comes as a gift without payment required.
For instance did you know most if not all shelters require you to give all your info. (for no real reason but to sleep through the night safely and warm), they also require you leave the property from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

I lived in LaCrosse WI. Graduated from high school. My father worked between Milwaukee & LaCrosse for about 15 years.
LaCrosse is a smaller community but it does have a serious houselessness problem, probably more difficult to manage per capita.
When I lived in Flagstaff AZ, my daughter worked at Safeway. The police department dealt with shoplifting of this type with compassion, they even had a non profit that funded it. It was my understanding the shoplifting complaints were subjective: first time offenders, theft of essentials to live especially women with children. It was a program to be admired but I’m not sure if it is still in existence.

I really love this POLO. Last year I saw a man outside a store, I assume he was homeless and maybe a druggie. It was scorchin hot, heat in the 100s. I was strugglin so bad financially, so I counted my change to see if I could get him a water. I couldn't, and he still haunts me. I could've had more faith that GOD would make sure I'd be ok.. I WILL help the next one I see, cuz GOD proved himself ta me in several times after that! You wouldn't believe it if I told ya! GOD ASTOUNDED ME, and made me even more humbled! AMAZING TO MY EXISTENCE! GOD BLESS you and all who read this...Thank you POLO🤗❤👣

It's sad that there are so many bad police officers that decent police officers and humans like this officer are tarred with the same brush. I've been homeless, and an act of kindness is so much more meaningful to the homeless than a person who is faring well, could imagine.

agree re small town effect. and, also, if police officers don't live in the communities in which they work, it leads to the issues in NYC policing: the entire structure as well as the individual officers sees those they are policing as 'the other' and inherently less deserving of empathy. thanks for this change of pace!

All that goes through my mind is that if she were black this would not have gone the same way. And if it was a black man he might not even have survived this. My grandfather and uncles were cops and it is a hard job . You're right. But if your moral compass gets broken you're screwed and everyone in your path is as well.

I’m sorry you’re assumptions are so pessimistic! No reason to degrade this great example of humanitarianism and compassion. Which, in my opinion, is rampant thru the far majority of police forces!
