60 Minute Morning Yoga - Slow, then flow vinyasa

  • This is a 60 Minute Morning Vinyasa Yoga class. A re-post without music. Class starts gently for the first 20 minutes - focussing on loosening the low back spine, then we start to flow with heat building lunges & shoulder openers, balances and light, functional core work. An all round vinyasa flow to help restore range of motion in your body after sleep. I would call it a level 2 class as some of the holds are a little longer. Enjoy!

    Thank you, Fiona! I think you had more than two birds at your practice today! Some of the birds, I ‘v never heard before! An added perk to Morning Yoga! I think this was a great pace for me in the morning! Getting ready for our first snow fall of the season today! I guess winter has arrived!     Great practice for me today! Really great prompts and reminders! And I loved the long,loud bird call at the end! It sounds huge whatever it is! I do not have that bird in my yard! Not yet , anyway! Thanks a million! Love my Two Birds!❤️🥰🙏🧘🏻‍♀️

      Thanks Martha :-) I think that bird was a black crow. I’ve always wanted to miraculously capture the kookaburras but it’s yet to happen. Ive just recorded my next one and all I managed to get was Ralphie barking! Lol

      I wish I could practice in person! I have a practice on Cape Cod but this time of year it’s on line! Which in the scheme of things is a blessing! My search for the meaning of life lead me to yoga ! I have not been disappointed! Authenticity is key and I hear you, loud and clear! ❤️❤️❤️

    Coming out of a cold,I feel very balanced & invigourated again, breath a bit raspy still, but your cohesive & concentrated teaching makes it easy to pay attention to those nodes which we habitually gloss over by muscular work. It was, again, so fruitful & instructive - oh & I'll keep my Lizard's tail lifted from now on, so simple, yet habit never allowed me to think of lifting the back knee! #oldmanhere & my Pidgeon is always flying, since you taught it back in another video...😍. Thank you very much, your profound lessons are absolutely amazing!

      Oh I’m glad you’re feeling better! All those hip openers so tricky for me… I find if I take the deeper option I feel sore… but we’re all built and move differently. #arthriticoldwoman! Lol. We do what we can with our bodies and learn what’s helpful and what’s not :-) so great to hear from you and great you’re flowing and breathing easier 🙏

      @@TwoBirdsYoga Your body doesn't betray this soreness when you do these splits, or just just bring the back leg to front again - you should see me then! ☺️ I find very ideal your repeated advice to activate certain musclegroups of the body's other side/non-supportive/articulated, this enabling us to adhere to a middle/centre, & align well; what you say so often - distribution of effort is what make difficult movement easy, & easy movement elegant (to use a standard Feldenkrais phrase).

      Markus Wenninger Arhh, you can read between the lines…. ‘Recovery day yoga’, acupressure…gentle bedtime yoga… usually when in flare… but I figure we all have times when a restful approach is appropriate. And I think as we age we are more aware of what’s nourishing. You’re a good listener I can tell…. I imagine your practice is quite advanced and you relate well to cues with your occupation…. More than I I suspect…. So it’s quite flattering your a fan!

Thank you for your kind words, but yes, since the brain's everywhere embodied & solely thus, the mind's everywhere as well, & it's the non-identities between embodied brain/mind, the deviations & points of not being aware, which cause & harbour these organisation you call so aptly "being not accessible"...Today as well, I always have to grin as soon as I hear you saying "you can relax your jaw now", it's spoken directly towards me, I hardly leave it alone, -& think of Ralphie, he even yawns in DownwardDog, no effort in his jaw at all, nor his neck!

    Thanks Fiona. Liked the concept of this with a nice stretch to begin with.
    Preferred the sequences inbetween the vinyasas myself, as there seemed to be a few. Other than that a nice way to build heat and move this morning.

    Wonderful class, Fiona. I am so glad you re-posted this without music. Is there a trick on how to quietly step back into down dog? Even after all these years of practicing yoga I don't manage to do it and I am wondering why....

      You’re welcome Petra! The intention of stepping quietly on your mat originates from the word ‘vinyasa’ itself which translates as ‘to place yourself in a special way’ that is… moving mindfully. If you have that intention as you practice, then don’t worry about a few skids and noisy step backs :-) it’ll come.
      From a practical physical perspective… it depends on hip and spinal flexibility. The ability to lift your hips high to make space for your legs to move under you. Pressing into the hands helps.

    That was such a lovely practice. Thank you. I was smiling all through pigeon pose. Imagine if there wasn't space between my bum and the floor. Someday but not this year.
