Just an update, this video does not apply to 2008 model year. At least the Limited and most likely 09 and 10 models. I just did my 2008 Limited with Boston Acoustic factory option. Just reading the title I assumed this would apply to my 2008 Commander, nope! The factory HU was a RER 730N. Touch screen was just about done for, made it impossible to use. Using the suggested accessories, I was able to retain complete functionality of the factory experience. I choose an Alpine iLX-F509 HU. Just amazing! Everything works, steering wheel volume controls, factory backup cam, not a single thing lost. Just a bad ass 9" wireless Car Play HU that should outlast the vehicle. Let's hope so, he's only 16 and boys will be boys. flawlessly Super simple now, not like this was difficult on this 06. These are my instructions based on the above specs: 1. Turn the key on and put the car in drive, to get gear shift leaver out of the way. 2. Disconnect Battery 3. Remove chrome ring around gear selector (only clips) 4. Remove black surround around the gear selector (only clips) 5. Remove rubber tray insert from the storage area at the bottom of the climate controls. 6. Remove Cross headed screw in the back on the storage area 7. From the bottom start prying off the climate controls. Just clipped in. 8. Remove 4 screws and remove factory Head Unit. 9. Done You no longer need to remove the 16 Alen bolts and remove the dash bezel. Just completely different in the 2008 that I have. The rest of the video is bang on.. Big shout out to these guys for getting me on my way. Job well done. You guys are good! You have another subscriber :)
Followed instructions to a T but mine wouldn’t turn on or anything when I installed. Screen is black, no sound, nothing. Any ideas? Also, the antenna you linked in the video isn’t the right one

@@ProvoBeastAudio yeah true. I bought everything listed in this video except the head unit, I bought a different one as it had a USB input right on the front of the unit so I didn't have to run that flush mount USB. Hello, good afternoon, you know that I also have a Komander and I made this one the same. Maybe you did it, but the steering wheel controls do not work, the amplifier did work, and everything except the steering wheel controls.
Can these wiring harnesses you've listed work with a different stereo purchase? I ask because I noticed when I clicked the link for the stereo you used there were other options that were less expensive
For the most part yes. The only difference may be the steering wheel volume control compatibility. This is a pretty cheap radio, anything less expensive generally are no-named cheap Chinese units that may cause you more problems then they are worth.
