Finally installed it.. my dad helped. Couldn't find a power wire to shut off when the Jeep did 😢. Dad gave up, but I ended up tapping off the left power outlet. Not done yet, but I'll get it done. Happy 🐣 Easter!!

Agreed. When I installed the Hikity unit in my Box I never used Android Auto mostly because I couldn't figure out a clean way to run the USB. When we installed the S8 in my buddy's Jeep and he hooked up his phone I was blown away on how easy Android Auto was to work with. Now I love it. There is literally never a reason to touch my phone. The head unit does it all.
Do you need internet connection for the gps? Or is it satellite since it has the gps antenna and no internet is required? I ask bc I have this unit in my car and when I try to load maps it doesn’t load at all so wondering if it still needs internet connection?
It has it's own antenna, but you will either need to download maps or an internet connection, like through Apple or Android Car Play for the navigation to work. It's the same as any car stereo navigation on the market. Thanks for watching.

Great question because I have the same problem! I wired mine up incorrectly. I'm sure you did the same. I did some searching and found the answer awhile ago, however, I never bothered fixing it. If I remember correctly it has to do with how the speakers are wired up. That's where the mistake is. If you get it working, let me know!
So if I have a regular sport utility 2006 jeep commander I can buy the atoto S8 and js plug it where the old stereo was ? Or is they anything else I need besides the tools.
If you don't have the factory amp then it's going to be a typical install. You will still need everything listed in the video's description except the PAC-RP4. Thanks for watching.
I agree. This camera has two RCA jacks and a fat choke on the cord for noise suppression. I'd have to drill a hole the size of my pinkie to pass the cord into the liftgate. You said you used the latch to pass it thru. More information is requested.
It is not a joke. You NEED to calibrate the camera indoors. Any attempt to do it outside will result in failed calibration, many expletives and despair. The wake turbulence of a fly will move the calibration cloth. Weighing it down with any object will cause a failure as well.
Great question!! The 10" sticks out from the dash and I was concerned it would hit the upper lip of the top of the dash. I think other people have installed the 10" on the Commander without a problem, but I didn't want to risk it. Thanks for watching!

Great review man but I am a little disappointed that we didn't get to see more of the Commander being taken apart, would've been cool to see Kelly taking apart the hatch but it's cool to see the new ride getting love. This video was a lot of work. Much more than usual. I did film more of the head unit install and camera install, but I didn't want the video to be 30 minutes long. Also, I wanted my focus was on the features of the S8 and back up camera. It's hard to find a balance when making a video like this. Ultimately, I'm happy with the way it turned out. I have the same unit installed on my 1996 Toyota Hiace Van JDM dude, I have a hatch too and feel your pain twice because it’s bigger then your Jeep. Toyota JDM harness was a nightmare because the radio was after market, wiring was a mess but I’m an avionic technician and it was even challenging for me. All and all it’s an incredible unit, cheers!
Love the video. Liked the fact that you described what kind of stuff came with it (USB ports, microphone, GPS sensor, etc. My brother in law has installed several ATOTO units in his cars (not this particular model) but he also said the sound was much better than his stock stereo systems. The UBD feature...I'm not sure. Some mechanics feel that port should be used only when you are trying to diagnose something, and not hooked up to something constantly. The feeling is that possibly it could change settings in your car. I'm not a mechanic, but that's what they said. I also liked it when you showed what was in the camera box. I ordered the same one but I wasn't sure how to mount it (mount camera to the mounting bracket). I was hoping your video would show it but I guess it didn't. I'll need to figure that one out.

I dig the head unit after watching this video. I've been wanting to replace my stock navigation radio unit on my '06 Commander Limited. Looks like yours is the same as mine. My question is this: i already have the stock backup camera and I prefer the location of where it's currently at. Is it possible to only upgrade the camera with this model you advertise and use the same wiring that's already in place running back to the head unit?
Love my ATOTO i got the higher end one and honestly didnt need the gesture so id be better off without it but 4g and wifi and all is epic love it and super easy to install 10in on my 2011 xb
The birds eye view is reversed from the back up camera view, right? In the birds eye view, the parked car is on the driver's side but in the back up cam it's on the passenger's side.
@@ExtremeDailyDrivers Picture sitting in the car looking forward. In the birds eye view (on the left side of the screen), the car's shadow would be on your left. In the sort of fish eye view (on the right side of the screen), the car's shadow would be on your right. This isn't a criticism of the device. There's a setting in there somewhere you need to make.
@@workingTchr The bird's eye is unfortunately not adjustable. It's necessary to show the overhead view. I hear what you are saying about the juxtaposition, however I never have an issue with it.

Which car stereo installation kit did you use? When I clicked your link it gave 3 different options on Amazon. Also you did not specify whether you had to use an aftermarket wiring harness or not.
Like I mentioned in the video, my car had an aftermarket stereo already installed when I purchased the car so I reused it. Anything from Scosche or Metra should be fine. You will need an aftermarket wiring harness. Thanks for watching.

The camera was the nightmare. Anytime you have to run wires in a vehicle that has a hatchback it's difficult. And the Commander doesn't have any great way to get the wire from the rear to the dashboard. Still loving the camera and stereo. Thanks for watching.

I think you are talking about the backup camera and if you are, it's a fish eye lens so you can't crop it. It needs to be this way to achieve the overhead look out of one lens. Thanks for watching.

I just bought one for my 2006 Jeep Commander! Do you need a bypass to use the youtube or Netflix app while in drive, driving? Please let me know, or does putting it in drive have no effect? All new cars when putting in drive, they don't let you play videos while driving, which is why I am asking! Thanks

Could I use the Sony XAV-AX5000 head unit whilst retaining steering wheel controls and all the OEM features?

atoto has their own OBD2 reader.. and it give u more functions then a cheap one

Any front camera of your choice would work, but I would get the Atoto camera. They are awesome.

The camera was the nightmare. Anytime you have to run wires in a vehicle that has a hatchback it's difficult. And the Commander doesn't have any great way to get the wire from the rear to the dashboard. Still loving the camera and stereo. Thanks for watching.
