Turn radio off but comes on when engine turn on
So now my lights don't work😭
How do I hire you to do it
Where are you located
So can I just bring my radio to you. Where are located?
I’ve been in auto electrical diagnosis and repair for 30 years, you’re a sharp guy !!
Ever since they removed the lead from solder, it’s been a problem ..!!! 🤷🏻
Thank you 🤝🏾
Dodge, Chrysler and Plymouth have always had electrical problems. It is not just the lack of lead in solder.
oh wow, you're the man. You have saved us mucho money with this video. So easy to follow and thorough. Thank you!
Thanks glad it could help
I just performed this procedure on our 2014 Jeep Patriot. I left the CD ribbon plug alone and just moved the CD aside. I used a hair dryer on the hottest setting while holding the black square down. I alternated the heat on then moved away-on move away several times without keeping constant heat on the part. The radio is working now. Thanks for your detailed video on the repair!
Good job 🤝🏾
Thank you for posting this video, I purchased a rework hot air tool similar to the one you showed. Your instructions are spot on. The radio in the jeep is now working again after years of being unusable.
Thank you soooo much for this! My radio/Bluetooth has been down for a year. I used a hair dryer, foil funnel, and a chopstick for 5 minutes. This has saved me hundreds especially since my 2014 Compass is paid off and no longer under warranty. You are a gentleman and scholar!
Thank you, I’m glad this video could help.
What was the foil funnel used for?
I used it to direct the air from my hair dryer.
I'm gonna try that! I got as far as down to the piece that needed to be heated up and I was like shoot...I don't have that tool 😂. What's weird is my connection randomly goes in and out. At first it was just the tuner (AM/FM) but then the volume wouldn't work at times and nothing worked. I was thinking Mayne it is the wires for the antenna connection. Gonna rip it apart and try again
@jackieb8665 did it work???
Cai, I hope all is well! Just wanted to let you know that I was having the same problem and fixed that problem because of your video. Thank you so much! You're still helping people out!
Glad I could help, good work on fixing it yourself 🤝🏾
I just followed all of your instructions and my stereo is FIXED NOW! THANK YOU!!!
Glad it worked
Thank you so much,I’ve been driving my car for over a year now without any music, I’ve been searching all over UA-cam, until I came across ur video, it worked for my 2013 Dodge Avenger, it has the same tape as the jeep. Thanks again, you save me some money, I was just about to order for an after market radio
Glad it could help
This totally works!! Thanks for sharing your knowledge! Now I’ve got tunes again!!
Happy your back with tunes, subscribe if you haven’t already
This was an absolute God-send! I have never fixed anything on my car myself and decided I had the confidence after this amazing tutorial. Everything worked perfectly! I have radio access for the first time in 2 months! Thanks so much! Now I'll have 't start changing my own oil! 10/10!
I’m glad this video helped you can do whatever you put your mind to
@@yaboycai9578 Where can I get this device to melt that part or with what else could it be done?
THANK YOU THIS WORKED!!! I didnt have a radio for 2 years and was just about to buy a new one!! i have a 2011 wrangler and it worked!!
Glad I could help!
¡Gracias! Two months with the volume problem and finally land on your video with the solution!
Excellent video! I used a blowdryer on high heat with a tiny funnel taped to the front to get the heat I needed. Worked like a charm! Thank you YaBoiCai!
Glad it worked out
An update. I applied your fix on mine today and it worked! For some people, even a small victory is a MASSIVE boost. Im one of those people. Thanks so much for puttin this out there. Much love! :) Instead of a $400 replacement I got a new tool to play with and saved $300 or so. Subbed and watched a couple ads. :)
Thanks that means a lot
You are the best. I bought the hot air machine and I did it. My radio work perfectly now. US1 stereo was going to charge me $399 to buy another new radio. Thank you again.
Glad I could help, Subscribe if you haven’t already
Just wanted to say thanks, brother. You explained everything clearly, so that people even without any mechanical skill can work on their vehicles. I appreciate you taking the time to make this.
Thanks for such a good explanation! It was simple, easy to follow and I did it in record time. Perfect for a non-mechanic. I had to use my hair dryer instead of a heat gun but it worked just as well. Thanks again!
Good way to improvise 🤝🏾
Watch your video, and honestly thought yeah doubt this is gonna work, but gave it a try. Radio is working great, thank you. Instead of replacing the radio for $400, just had to buy a $20 heat gun. Took me about 20 minutes.
Glad you saved $380, subscribe if you haven’t already
Thank you so much!! This worked perfectly!! I went to several places and they all told me I needed a new radio..$500!!
Glad I could help and save you money.
Holy crap BRO!! You’re the best! Just fixed my 2011 Chrysler 200 raido!! Dude fr! You’re awesome (10-11-23)
This was a project I held off for almost a year. I just dreaded the situation... It was either give this a try or replace the unit for an outrageous price... Your video was very insightful and was exactly what was wrong with the radio in a relative's 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan. Your guide was very simple to follow and the "re-flow" process did the job. To conclude my mini-novel, I just wanted to say thanks immensely for sharing.
Thank you I’m glad you tried this video before buying a crazy expensive radio good job fixing it yourself
I just started having this problem in my 2016 Wrangler. So thankful I came across your thorough and easy to follow instructions. I’m trying this fix this weekend!
Glad I could help
Did the fix work on your wrangler? I just hit 88 thousand miles on my 2013 Wrangler and this problem started...
My 2016 wrangler started up with losing all my fm stations to static. Now my am is on kits way out! Unbelievable!
Perfect!! Awesome play by play. Solved the issue. The pauses you take are clutch. It gives the viewer time to pause the video as the project progresses. Great job my guy
Glad this video helped you out 🤝🏾
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I have a 2014 Jeep Patriot that only my fm/am wouldn’t work (volume worked fine), I only had a small heat gun but I followed your steps (which you are amazing at explaining) and it worked!!!! I was sooo impressed!! Thank you sooooo sooo much!!!
Glad it worked
Your instructions were perfect! I was a little intimidated to crack my radio open and try this but it was probably one of the easiest things ever! Thanks a bunch!
I’m glad I could help. Subscribe if you haven’t already
@@yaboycai9578 how much do you charge and where are you located?
Thank you, this was so easy. I can't believe I was able to do this myself. After 8 Mos with no tunes.. you have saved me, and I feel like a BOSS doing this by myself
Congratulations I’m glad your back on the road with tunes
@@yaboycai9578 I have a question, was working great. Now back to doing the exact same thing 😡 grrr
Cai I wanna Thank you so much Bro I was having problems with my radio for 2 weeks it would work then no audio it was on and off so I followed your steps on how to fix and it worked you saved me $100s of dollars bro all did was put pressure on the chip and heated it up with a blow dryer and made a funnel out of aluminum foil to direct the heat on the chip i put heat
On the chip for 5- 10mins with pressure on it for awhile then went and tried it out and it worked even my satellite radio works now bro your the 🐐
Well another happy viewer!!! Me and my dad fixed it!!!! Thanks so much!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you have everything you need is fast.
Hey thanks so much for this video! The dealer wanted $800 to replace the radio in my 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan. This fix totally worked for me and I just used a regular pain-stripper heat gun (only a few seconds each side) but it did the trick. Thanks so much Cai! Really appreciate this. Now obviously Chrysler/Dodge Jeep have a massive issue with these radios, which should be the subject of a recall.
Hey I’m glad I could help and save you money.
Thank you! I was gonna throw the whole truck away!!!
Lol not throw the whole truck away
You prolly dont give a shit but if you guys are bored like me during the covid times you can stream pretty much all the latest series on Instaflixxer. I've been watching with my gf for the last few weeks =)
@Jameson London yea, been using InstaFlixxer for years myself :D
HAHAHAHAHA... SAME 🤯😫
🤣Bro, same here I might just throw the whole console and put a new radio
Worked perfectly! Thank you so much. I used a hair dryer with a funnel taped to the end instead of a heat gun. Took me about 20 minutes and the radio works good as new!
Great job On Improvising, glad this video helped
My man! Thanks for the video. Just fixed 2 stereos in 10 minutes using this fix. Worked like a damn charm!
Thanks I’m glad this video helped.
I just did this after work today. I used a hair blow dryer for the heat. I was a little nervous to do this myself. But his video was amazing and I was able to do it myself in about 30 minutes. I cannot thank him enough that I finally have a radio after not having one for months. Thank you so much
Did you use a regular blow dryer?? I’m going to try it and I’m nervous about it
I’m glad it worked out for you, good job.
A lot of people use the blow dryer it’s worth a shot.
I was without a radio for almost a year and tried a bunch of different tutorials to no avail. I followed your instructions step by step today and now have a fully functional radio for the first time in months. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
That’s dope I’m glad I could help, subscribe if you haven’t
I have been without a radio for almost 3 years I disconnect it cause was killing my batteries wondering if is cheaper buy a new radio
Almost 4 years later and you are still saving lives! Thank you brother!!! 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you
Perfect! Just bought a 2016 Patriot today and AM/FM did not work, CD and aux worked but audio cut out regularly. I used half a wooden clothespin and a regular heat gun I had, nothing fancy. Works perfectly now.
Just wanted to say "Thank you". I did not have the specialized device that you recommended. I improvised - I used a hair dryer set on hot and a wooden spoon to push on the chip. It worked great. Mine is a 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT.
I then got inspired and decide to "modernize" the van a little.'
I bought a blue tooth receiver (like < $3 on ebay) that plugs into the AUX input and now I can play audio from my phone onto the radio. I also put a dashcam recorder (over the mirror) and a backup camera (all under $50). It all worked well. Thank you, again.
Hey I’m glad this video helped out. I’m proud of you for doing the extra work to your car I know it feels good.
@@yaboycai9578 thank you! I recently ran an odb2 scan (blue driver software) and was surprised it showed that the antenna signal on the radio was weak (probably need to make sure it fits well) . It also detected abnormal current on the front low beam headlights. That is because I had them replaced with LEDs.
A week without a radio felt like eternity... Thanks Bro
Lol glad I could help, subscribe if you haven’t already
2012 Ram 1500
It worked!
Thank you sir
Had a new radio in my cart on crutchfield and stumbled across this video.
You da real MVP
Thanks, glad this video helped
Holy shit its actually working now after a year of it being broken! Youre a savior. Didnt have a solder heat gun so i used a paint stripping heat gun with a diy tinfoil cone on the end. Thanks bro!
Thank you I looked up the heating tool on Amazon 30 bucks i just ordered and we'll see if it works.. Well i did it and it worked out well hell yeah I have sound in my ride. Thank you very much
I’m happy it worked for you now your back riding with sounds
I wish I had recorded myself following your instructions I must say this worked 10000% thank you so much bro you saved me $450.00

five fists for you you know what your doing good job !!!!👊👊👊👊👊
Thanks man, subscribe if you haven’t already
I've been without my radio stations for quite some time now, and more recently my speakers became intermittent. I have been using the smallest speaker to pair with my phone for music while driving my vehicle. I came across your video a while back, but have been too busy to try out how you fixed your stereo. My dude! You've become my favourite stranger! I fixed my stereo this evening all because you shared your video.
Many thanks to you 🤘
Glad it worked and your back listening to your tunes
I was pretty skeptical if this was gonna work or not. Just tried this and seems to be working 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 took me about a half hour. Great explanation. Thank you for taking the time to make this video. Really saved me a lot of frustration... almost ran my fist through the radio earlier 😃
Lol I’m glad this video helped you and saved your fist lol
@@yaboycai9578 Hello sir, I have the same issue with my radio, just one question; can I use a soldering gun ??? it is ok ?? thanks 👍
Awesome repair video, worked like a charm on my friends 2012 RAM 1500 pickup stereo!! I used a heat gun after masking off the area around the chip with some aluminum tape. Just a few passes with the heat gun, reassemble, bam! Worked like a charm. THANK YOU!!!
Thank you, I’m glad your radio is back to normal lol checkout my latest videos if you haven’t already.
Thanks man I was on my way out to buy new radio and found your video! Thank god saved me a few bucks used a heat gun that’s all I had but so far it’s working
That’s good you found the video just in time, glad you could save some money.
Amazing tutorial! This is the perfect amount of detail, it’s accurate, and it is easy. I used a hair dryer with a nozzle/cone made out of aluminum foil to focus the flow and it worked perfectly. Radio works again and no static!
I’m glad this video helped and good job working with the tools you have.
Did it take longer?
@@doughboyjoe6518 the extra time was just in creating the device and it’s awkward, I didn’t want to wait to order the tool. If I did it again I would just buy the tool online, would be much easier.
@@yaboycai9578 any tips for a 2013 Jeep Compass driver side speaker not working when I use the aux cord to listen to music
I just wanted to say Thank You for this video, and to let you know that even 2 years later it is still helping people out. This is one of those little inconveniences that just messes up your day until you get it fixed. Your knowledge and assistance on the issue has been critical to fixing this issue, and I am grateful that you took the time to pay it forward and show us how to fix it.
Thank you
Thank you so much. How many people took there vehicle back to the dealer only to be ripped off hundreds of dollars. You're a good person, be proud of yourself!!! Thanks again.
Cliff
Thanks a lot I’m glad this video could help
Excellent diagnostics. Reflowed that IC on my Wrangler head unit with some no clean flux and a hot air rework station and the problem was solved. Thanks!
Glad this video helped you out.
This is excellent!
Incredibly well done!
Good detail, easy to follow!
Thank you so very much, keep up the good videos
God bless
Glad I could help, subscribe if you haven’t
Fantastic fix! How did you know it was the chip? Wrapped a piece of aluminum flashing around standard heat gun to form a cone. Worked perfectly on low setting. One correction: for the two antenna wire connectors, you don't push in to release lock. Use a tool to lift the lock out of the way. Thanks again! (My wife can't believe it's fixed!)
Thanks for the tip and congrats on a working radio again
I can not thank you enough. Great tutorial! No steps missed. Radio is working great now. Thank you, again!
Thank you, good job on the repair.
Today is Thursday March 4, 2021. THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO!!!!!!! It works PERFECTLY! Only thing in the video you don’t need is the Soldering Machine. I used a candle lighter heated it up just fine.
Glad it worked either way lol

Will do
I did this repair yesterday and it worked great. However, this afternoon my volume control randomly stopped working. The volume goes down but not up. Could that be related to the fix?
I don’t think that would be a related of the fix because I had the volume not when before I fixed it then it worked fine
Mine is doing the same. Did you ever figure out why the volume was going down but not up?
Not sure, but I had that problem with my '99 Grand AM one morning. It was weird - the volume went up when I tried to turn it down and it went up when I tried to turn it up. After a few tries it was so loud I had to turn the radio off! I got it working by leaving the radio off and turning the volume knob up and down a bunch of times. Must have had some dirt in the control.
This video was a life saver! Thanks dude! Radio fixed and working like new!!!
My radio had that exact problem (2016 Caravan). We followed your instructions and now the radio works again! Thank you!
Good job 🥂
My stereo just changed to Dutch today. It randomly asked if I want to change to Dutch and I said no and then it took it as a yes. Now I don’t understand sh1t
A mí también me pasó lo mismo jaja 😂 pero a francés.
Lol yea that’s crazy, I hope you figure out how to change it back
You can try google translate... :-)
This is awesome! Thank you so much, I did this on my 2014 Wrangler and it worked perfectly. You're the man!
I’m glad it worked for your wrangler
I have a 2017 Jeep Compass & I followed all of your instructions to the “T” & it worked perfectly! I used a torch lighter to apply the heat since I didn’t have a heat gun & I still achieved success! Thanks for this video 💯
Hey I’m glad this video helped you out. Good idea to use what you had, check out my latest videos if you haven’t already.
It worked!!!!!! I fixed it all by myself by watching your video!!!!! Thank you sooooo much!!!!
No problem, I’m glad you were able to complete the process.
I tried this fix and did just like Cai said and heated up that area with my heat gun and a chopstick and Bam it worked, my wife was so happy. Thanks Cai!
No problem, I’m glad this video helped. Happy wife happy life
You are awesome... I followed your directions and now my wife's radio works again... Definitely earned some brownie points tonight. Worked flawlessly on a 2016 patriot.
I’m glad this video helped and you got some brownie points.
Hey what’s up, checkout my latest video
Praise the Lord! Thank you so much! Another's comment recommended a mini torch/solder/hot air and that worked for me. I was about to order a new touch screen radio, but I really just wanted to keep my stock radio. Thanks again! At least 2 years without a radio, and several months of using a Bluetooth speaker because the whole radio began cutting out like it was shorting out.
I’m glad your back with a working radio good job on the repair.
Thank you so much your a lifesaver dealership wanted 150 just to look at the car and radio store told me it was beyond repair and I had to buy a new radio your the best man thank you so much works so well now Jeep Compass 2016❤
Glad I could help
I added solder with a soldering iron. I thought I would have 🤬 it up but IT ACTUALLY FIXED IT. Thank you times a million. It’s great to have music again.
Glad it worked out
This Works!!! I have a 2016 dodge grand Caravan. Same radio, same problem. I used this technique with a hair dryer on blast. Worked perfectly. Definitely make sure you get it hot enough or it won't work
Good way to improvise
I can't believe I just fixed my radio with a hairdryer and a chopstick. Worked like a charm. Thank you!
I’m glad your back with tunes, good job!
Thank you so much!! Been so miserable without a radio. Followed your directions exactly. Radio is working! At first, I was a little intimidated but decided to try it. Saved me 400$!!
Thank you I’m glad I could help
Thank you SO MUCH for this video.
My radio went out right before a 3 hour drive (for some reason if my phone was plugged into the AUX everything worked fine)
Anyway, it was a little difficult to get that top plate off of the radio but with a little help I finally got it!
I didn’t have the heat gun, so I taped a toilet paper roll to my hair dryer and a straw to that. I heated it up for a extra 20 seconds and boom.. we’re back in business.
Thank you again!
Nice way to improvise I’m impressed, I’m glad it worked out
You are my hero of the month 🙌💪. 30 min fix ❤
Glad this video helped 🙏🏾
Great video my friend. The dashboard removal on my Jeep is significantly different but the radio is the same. I was able to get it done in no time.
been dealing with this issue over a year so i thought i’d try this solution & it worked first try! took a regular torch lighter and heated up the chip while moving the torch constantly, then placed a pencil above the bracket onto the chip & it was fixed instantly!! only bout a 15 min fix, had to come back and say thanks bro!
I’m Glad this video helped you !
Thank you sir! I purchased the tool and fixed my 2017 Jeep Compass radio. I needed the tool anyway as I work on computers. I have a laptop motherboard to fix so it will come in handy. Thanks for posting this informative video!
No problem, I’m glad this video helped you out
I faced same problem with my jeep patriot 2017, I tried to solve it with hair dryer but failed, So I went to maintenance shop for mobile and show to him your video, and it is work, amazing, I appreciate your advice to save a lot of money, huge respect to you from Iraq.
Thank you, I’m glad the video helped you
Thank you man! Just fixed my 2011 JK radio thanks to this video! Heads up for anyone that doesn’t have that fancy heating thing, I used a blow dryer and it worked just fine!
Thank you
Was looking for this comment lol
Blow dryer works as well, I’m glad everything worked out for you
I just did this on my 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan radio. It totally worked. I used a combination of a hair dryer and a grill lighter. The radio is working great!
Thanks, I’m glad your back enjoying tunes!
Worked perfectly!
We just used our heat gun and it did the job.
Thanks for your help!
Glad I could help .
Just bought a 2015 Jeep Patriot and it's radio had this issue. Followed the steps and used the hair dryer w/ foil hack for 45 seconds and held it for another minute while it cooled. Whole process took less than 30 minutes. Thank you so much. 🤘
Thanks glad this helped
Thank you so much, it’s been 2 years since I have had a working radio❤️❤️
Wow, I’m glad this video helped you and your back on the road with tunes.
Good description and step by step demo. I'll try this for our 2013 JK. Thanks my friend.
Good deal man! I just fixed my buddies stereo in his jeep after watching this video. Thank you for puttin this out there man!
I’m glad you fixed it, good work
@@yaboycai9578 ya I thought I fixed it, got a little ahead of myself there. His volume knob is the issue, no working volume, but it will push in. So round 2, I took the whole faceplate apart and resoldered everything in it with good solder and Weller commercial iron. Just so I know everything is soldered together well, then cleaned all the flux off w 91 iso alcohol and my ex's toothbrush lol. Hosed both knobs down with deoxit and worked em back n forth a bunch. I'm gonna plug it up to his ride after work in the morning and we'll see. Hopefully I got it this time, or I'm telling him to to buy a d.d. pioneer n be done w it
I've had my Jeep for 4 years. I have never picked up many radio stations, most days I picked up one station. And then I started having issues with it going in and out I followed this video step by step and my radio works better than it did when I first got it now thank you
I’m glad this video helped you out good job on the repair
Now my radio lights don't work😭😭
Thank you so much. Your step by step instructions were easy to follow. My dash was different, but the radio fix worked wonderfully.

Bought the heating unit form ebay and followed your instructions exactly thanks you!
Thanks I’m glad it worked out for you
I'm glad that I found your video! I have the same problem with the radio in my Ram pickup. I just ordered one of those machines and hopefully I can fix my radio soon. Thanks again!!
Thanks, let me know how it works out for you
Thank you soooooo much! After a few botched attempts with a hairdryer, I opted to purchase a hot air gun, carefully follow your instructions and it did the trick!
