    Hi everyone! Hope all of you have enjoyed the video. This post will maintain a list of corrections regarding class mechanics and a glossary of useful terms I didn’t go over in the video. If something more needs to be added please make a new comment with that information. I get a ton of notifications for replies and simply cannot monitor them. Thanks for all the feedback!
    Base Attack Bonus (BAB) is your character’s ability to hit without any modifiers. When you attack, this number will be added to your attack roll along with whatever bonuses your character has. The rate at which this number increases depends on your class. Every time you gain six ranks in this stat, BAB will also allow you to do an extra attack. These additional attacks will each add a smaller portion of your BAB to your attack roll than your first attack.
    Combat Maneuver Defense (CMD) is the number to determine your ability to resist being tripped, disarmed, shoved, or a similar effect when enemies will use their Combat Maneuver Bonus (CMB) against you. This rarely happens in the game so it’s only something to focus on if you are using a class that heavily makes use of the stat.
    Damage Resistance (DR) is how many points of damage are ignored when an enemy successfully hits you with a physical attack. Some enemies have Damage Resistance that can only be bypassed by weapons of a certain type such as Good aligned or Cold Iron weapons. A weapon’s enhancement bonus can also sometimes bypass the DR requirement.
    Competence and Dodge bonuses stack. Most other types of bonuses do not.
    Azata:
    Has spells that can reset lower level spells/abilities. Some classes can make great use of this.
    Bard:
    At level 1 Bards can use Bardic Performance for a number of rounds per day equal to 4 + their Charisma modifier. They steadily gain more Bardic Performance rounds as they level up.
    Cleric:
    If you use this class with Lich keep in mind that some late level buffs like Legendary Proportions and Heroic Invocation will not work on undead party members.
    Inquisitor:
    Despite Bane’s description it doesn’t require you to designate specific enemies. The ability just provides a flat damage bonus against all creatures.
    Kineticist:
    Gold Dragon spell damage increases currently do not apply to blasts. This issue was addressed earlier in the year but appears to be broken again. Not clear if that’s because Dev’s don’t want it to apply to blasts.

    Woah, this came outta nowhere - what an absolutely incredible surprise! I desperately wish I'd had a video like this when I was taking my first steps into Pathfinder. The other videos I found were all literally just reading what was on the screen out loud with absolutely no analysis or explanation about what the class is really like. What an incredible project to have worked on, well done and thanks so much!

    Finally a list of all the classes and their mechanics that isn’t still from Beta, also love the mythic paths synergy. Basically everything I need as a latecomer to the game to catch up and be less overwhelmed but the long class lists. Thanks a million :)
    Btw would be nice if the transition from one class to the next had a little “gap”. Just a noticeable pause or something before you start the next one.

    I just finished this video last night after watching it piecemeal over the past week, and I was continuously blown away by the amount of effort you put into this!
    Once any of my premiere pro projects build up a large enough cache that the preview starts taking 20 seconds or more to render, that's where I call it a day, but to edit a video this size must have taken weeks of long nights to get done, and for that effort I give my thanks!

      Thank you so much! I appreciate the support. This is the first video I have made that I did not enjoy creating. It took SUCH a long time and was such an intensive process that pretty much brought my channel to a halt. If I do something like that again I have to figure out a better way to make the video in the flow of everything else I want to do. Still I am very happy with how it came out and appreciate the feedback from the community.

    Aight, I'm watching this whole video while the game downloads I got to say, I REALLY admire that you repeat yourself when a feature appears in more than one class (describing teamwork feats for example). You really accounted for people skipping through the video to their desired class by doing so.

    I picked WOTR way back on release day, and summarily dropped it after an hour of frustration. Picked it up a few weeks ago after going through your builds series, andI can say have now eased into the mechanics enough that I'm actually enjoying myself in combat deep into Act 3 and even thinking of ramping up the difficulty. You have a way of breaking down the WHY'S of a build, and explaining your own thought process going through them. A true MVP of the community!

    One thing which I am not sure if you mentioned but might be worth including: High mythic rank Azatas can reset lower level spells and all ability uses. There are certain classes which will get a lot of mileage out of this (its also really strong for the Devil mythic path).

    Thanks for this. I think I'll mention a few of my favourite chargen-related mods, so people can be aware they exist:
    SpellBookMerge: Lets you merge your mythic spellbooks with more classes. (I'm currently doing a demon-bloodrager run, with a merged spellbook).
    Homebrew Archetypes: a mix of the utterly useless (NPC classes?!) and the utterly amazing (Blood Arcanist). More options = good, in my book.
    Weapon Focus Plus: Feats (like Weapon Focus) now apply to a group of weapons, not just one. Given the lack of a live GM altering loot to apply to a party's proficiencies, I consider this mandatory.
    The above, I recommend to just about everyone. The below, I only recommend once you have a decent handle on the system:
    Dark Codex: This has some amazing options (my favourite is probably the one that turns Cackle/Chant into a passive, cutting down on Hex micro considerably), but also some options which I suspect will blow any difficulty away (e.g. limitless witch hexes). I recommend caution, and only applying what you want, rather than everything.
    Multiple Archetypes: Finally, archetypes are archetypes, rather than subclasses. Meaning, you can take more than one, so long as they do not try and replace the same base class functionality, as per tabletop rules. Adds a load of complexity and options both.
    Special shout out to 'Puzzle Skip' - especially for your 2nd+ playthrough: lets you avoid the most sanity-draining puzzles in the game. Yes, it's not CharGen related, but it's such a QoL improvement, everyone should know about it.
    Edit: And, I can't resist, extra shout out to Bubbles Ultimate Buff Bot Lite Extra Simple (BUBBLES) - set up your buff routine once, apply it with a button click. So incredibly less tedious than doing it manually every day. Another true sanity-saver.
    Yes, there are other great mods, but I thought I'd just highlight a few, to keep this comment a reasonable length.

    Thanks so much for doing this. There are still a lot of mechanical things I don't understand in this game, like CMD, DR, disarm attempts, what weapon alignments/weapon construction materials (e.g. adamantine) actually do etc.

    • @jamesnewman7509
      @jamesnewman7509 Рік тому +2

      In case it helps any, here's a quick guide to the things you listed:
      CMD: Combat Maneuver Defence. This is what the attacker rolls against when attempting to trip, disarm, etc. you, using their CMB (Combat Maneuver Bonus). In basic terms, for those actions, CMB is like BAB (base attack bonus), and CMD is like AC. But unless you're doing a very specific build, you 99% of the time don't need to worry about it.
      DR: Damage Resistance. How many points of damage are ignored per physical damage attack (i.e. non-elemental). This comes in various types. DR/- cannot be bypassed. Every other type can be bypassed by what is shown after the /. So, DR 5/Good can be bypassed by Good-aligned weapons. DR 10/Adamantine can be bypassed by adamantine weapons. The bypass is 'all or nothing' - your weapon is either good aligned or not, you ignore the DR or not. Some classes (rogue & slayer at least) can reduce DR. DR/Cold Iron may also be bypassed by a weapon of +3 or better. DR/Adamantine by +4 or better, and DR/Alignment by +5. No enhancement may bypass DR/-.
      Disarm Attempts: Unless you can find a way to do it as part of a full attack (duelist may have one?), this is typically nothing more than a waste of a turn. Any opponent worth disarming is too hard to disarm. Can't really help you beyond that, as obviously I don't use it.
      Weapon Alignments/Materials: Covered in the DR section above. They do nothing other than that (well, Mithril weighs less. And Mithril Armour allows a higher Dex bonus to AC and lower armour penalties. Adamantium Armour offers 1, 2, or 3 DR/-, depending on if it is light, medium, or heavy armour).
      Hope that was some help, at least.

    • @Trevaricus
      @Trevaricus Рік тому +2

      @@jamesnewman7509 this is actually very helpful. Thanks for taking the time to explain it! I remember seeing some gloves from one of the vendors in Drezen that give a bonus against disarm attempts and I was like...I don't remember ever getting disarmed in this game, do the enemies even attempt that? If they do it must not be animated and just translate as a stat nerf or something. I know it's based on tabletop, but some of the mechanics can seem extraneous at times

    • @jamesnewman7509
      @jamesnewman7509 Рік тому +2

      @@Trevaricus Yeah. I remember one enemy who Sunders Armour, and in Kingmaker there were a few who tripped (wolves mostly), but other than that, I can't remember it coming up at all. It may have happened, but I can't remember a single disarm attempt across both games. (Probably a good thing, tbh - it'd be very annoying to deal with if it happened regularly.)

    Huge video. This is among the most useful video you have produced, and that says a lot, because they are my go to source for game mechanics information.
    Skills. I don't really insist on being a skill monkey, but a class that doesn't get perception as a class skill has a strike against it in my book. Also a pet class that doesn't get mobility, to fuel the riding feats, has a strike against it.

    Slander.. thank you very much for this fabulose guide! I've been playing pathfinder since king maker, but I'm just a novice and always find some classes a bit intimidating to use like Magus, Kinethysts and inquisitors. With this guide I think I can lose some of that fear and try to use them to understand them better.
    BTW, any recomendation for a Sylvanas Windrunner build?
    Thanks a lot really. Super good video. Can't imagine how much time it took you to compile a script, record and edit.

    Nice simple breakdown resource, good idea. I've mostly been trying out classes/subclasses added after Kingmaker that have some thematic connection to the campaign since I started playing; Tiefling-restricted Reformed Fiend Bloodrager was my first, ended up going Azata bc Chaotic Good. an Aasimar Champion of the Faith Warpriest for Angel. had to try a Lawful Neutral Judge Dredd style character for an Aeon after seeing what that's all about (Human, Guard, Abadar, Judge Inquisitor). Have made lots of others, one for every mythic, but played these the most. Hybrid spellcasters are fun to play, but playing only the most mechanically optimal characters is especially unappealing to me.

    Finally got around to watching this after seeing the reddit post, and my goodness 2 hours of class mechanics and future videos breaking down all the subclasses! I applaud you for taking up this momentous task, it'll be great to have all this information all in one place and being up to date with all the patch changes since release. It's also presented quite well, I can only imagine how long this took to record, edit and get all the footage for.

    A very effective kineticist class mythic path is swarm. As you arent going to be self buffing with spells anyway (other than maybe celerity, which you wont bother with in this variant), there is no significant cost to magic nullification mythic ability, nor any shortage of mythic abilities for kineticists. Rank 9 swarm immunities make you virtually untouchable. Also, effects like deadly earth, wall and cloud all stack, and is extremely effective (albeit pretty boring). Going kinetic blade with flame blast works very well also.

    12:00 it is worth it to note here, outside of mythic spells that automatically have the "not affected by spell resistance" arcanist has numerous exploits that are attacks with the same descriptor and its the only one in the game with spells the just get around spell resistance entirely as a base class. i didnt notice till i re-read at least 4 to 5 times on the exploits. "hey this chain lightning esque ability isnt affected by spell resit but its kinda watered down chain lighting

    • @Kammereer
      @Kammereer Рік тому

      That is definnitely not a good reason to pick Arcanist. Damage exploits are awful. Your watered down chain lightning deals CL/2 d6 of damage, and half that to adjacent targets. That's nothing. If you are level 11 and you are still being bothered by spell resistance - pick the feats. Or use Conjuration spells, they don't have to bypass spell resistance at all.

    • @awesome27677
      @awesome27677 Рік тому

      @@Kammereer true i was just pointing it out. its the only class has the ability to do that without any mythical help.

    42:45 it is worth noting here that certain mega buffs like legendary proportions and heroic invocation 9th level spells dont work on undead and they actually implemented that correctly, so you cant use that on undead teammates. you have to use frightful aspect or something else.

    Great video as always, just a recommendation for bloodrager, there is no reason to play the base one, primalist don't lose anything and they gain the ability to trade bloodline powers for rage powers Wich are just better, but even if you don't want to trade you don't have to is just a bonus, also from a combat standpoint angel is the best bloodline, since you are better at killing demons, and after that you can go for the mytic power and get any dragon bloodline to go for 4 levels in dragon disciple Wich will give you extra strength and constitution so you finish with 16 bloodrager and 4 dragon disciple
