It can be a bit tricky, but once you get enough seeds from scaring off birds; just make sure to talk to them, water them, make sure to have the nutrients, and clear EVERY! FORM! OF! WEED! If you see a weed such as a forget-me-lot, dig it up IMMEDIATELY! Soon each seed from a bird will make one crop randomly, you can then feed the crop to a bird in a bird cage to get its specific seeds! And with enough of your own unique seeds, you can then get started on sister planting which is basically potato and tomato in a form plot, considering they help each other out in terms of nutrients.
If you wanna stop the lord showing up all the time you can go to a part of the map you don't care about and plant a field of garlic or something. When he shows up he'll just stay there for good. Just remember you have to actually visit it to spawn him!
I'm looking forward to Klei expanding the farm's uses in later patches. There's a lot you could do with farm plots mechanically that isn't "grow food", and with how Don't Starve operates I imagine we'll get there in time. Things like growing plants that attack hostile mobs that get too close (or attack *you* if you let it's stress get too high), plants that grow things like Living Log, Plants that glow in the dark or explode after getting hit (knocking down trees, stripping grass and twigs, etc), such like that. It would also encourage the avid farmer to explore biomes outside of the surface, or incorporate new plant-based bosses that drop the seeds you need for these plants.
That would actually be a very cool idea! Or plants that still grow things, but these aren't things that you stuff into your mouth. Like maybe a bigger brother of the Stonefruit that grows armor items, one that grows stuff that can be used to fuel the fire (I've always been waiting for an alternative main fuel source in DST, having a chance to save a bunch of logs would be amazing). The stress element opens a sea of flavor possibilities to make them backfire, like that plant that attacks you, that's a super flavorful idea!

Grow a bunch of potatoes in the winter, then garlic, onion, tomatoes, eggplant, and dragon fruit in spring. You can make dragon pies, the potatoe cupcake, and salsa. Just cooking the eggplant gives the best use for them, unless your stuff is spoiling
Thanks for making this guide, helped a lot! Although I'm still not sure which tile to feed nutrients with when I put crops in the middle between 2 tiles, when you use the 4x4 grid on a single tile of farming soil, you get 4x4 grid, but when you put another farming soil tile next to it it becomes 7x7 grid not 8x8, and I don't know which tile the middle drains nutrients from.
Also I think the Salt Box is absolutely amazing at keeping veggie fresh, at larger scale. Raw potato stuffed into Salt box lasts just as long as Pierogi in a Fridge and then when going to fight boss just cook them up shortly beforehand. Raw garlic or onion last in Salt box almost as long as Honey in a Fridge (60 days compared to Honey's 80 days). And what I noticed on wiki, (assuming it's correct) roasted tomatoes last 4 days LONGER than raw tomatoes, so similar to roasting Monster Meat to preserve it's lifespan, tomatoes should be roasted ASAP after harvest.

And in Summer I grow tomatoes and dragon fruit at a 2:1 ratio. I play Wurt, so I primarily have to make these foods work on their own because there aren't a lot of good crockpot dishes. But potatoes and tomatoes restore 20 health a piece, and dragon fruit pie restores 40. Potatoes restore either 25 or 33 hunger if you're Wurt which is really good for hunger. And if you put tomato, or asparagus into a crockpot with 1 ice and 2 filler, I usually use 2 potatoes as filler, it makes a smoothie that restores 33 sanity. So if you take my suggestion and grow those crops in those seasons you'll always have food for any of your bars. It's got a source of health, sanity, and hunger food at all times of the year. If I don’t care that much about giant I was thinking about putting good combinations of plants and putting fertiliser when ever I’m able to, but that might mean the 1st set doesn’t get all the nutrients to be giant (or our of season, etc). Hi Jazzy! Can you test something I heard from Glermz? That having a Dwarf star near the crops act as if there's daylight even at night, which makes the plants grow faster. He is not sure, so don't quote him on that but maybe worth the test. Thanks!
what do u mean with crops won't produce if they don't consume? if there's no manure on the plot for the plant to consume, it will not barfs up other nutrients?
I've got a problem. Sometimes when I plant plants like in 11:57, the ones in corners don't get the famili bonus. Do you know how to deal with it or is it a sort of a bug?
I love the new idea of crops but it's too much time consuming. When you play there need to be 1 player that neeeed to know all this stuff and do nothing more than crops. It's fun for a game or two, but good luck to find a guy doing it always
You don't need to know any of this unless you want giant crops. If you just want single crops then just plant whatever you want and come back to harvest them in a few days. It's what I do most of the time.
@@JazzysGames you said it is not possible to put more than 3 crop in one farm tile and grow a giant why is not possible to put 9 crop in one tile and fertilize the tile in every stage of growth to get a 9 giant crop
Hmmm…I just rewatched the video and not so sure I said that. If you max out nutrients in a farm plot then you can provide for three 4-arrow crops or six 2-arrow crops. Any more and you’ll need to add fertilizer after a couple stages. I explain this around 4:52.
You see my method for having en excess amount of crops is to: Wait for them to rot Use rot to grow corn Use said corn to give to pigs for manure s t o n k s
Not sure if you've watched my video "Easiest Way to Use Farm Plots," but the tl;dr is that they really aren't all that time consuming unless you want giant crops. Just plant families and tend once. Come back in four days for all the crops.

If I don’t care that much about giant I was thinking about putting good combinations of plants and putting fertiliser when ever I’m able to, but that might mean the 1st set doesn’t get all the nutrients to be giant (or our of season, etc). Will they still give enough nutrients for other plants?
Each phase a plant will restore nutrients only if there are nutrients available for it to consume.
Please explain more with pictures, because unfortunately, I do not understand the English language, please
I don't know if this still up to date, but its a really well made guide (serie's). gj really, can't tell you how others make me mad making 10min vod's using 2 min of content.
Thank you, and yes I believe that miraculously the fertilizer mechanics are mostly the same as they were when I made the video.
@@JazzysGames Ah thats perfect, ty
The not knowing what to do with all the farm food is negated by adopting a warly main from your local
Would be cool if you had a second channel for uploading twitch vods. Twitch usually struggles with slow connection speed.
He has uploaded his twitch vids on his UA-cam Chanel
@@Stormie-jh8xc Thanks! Never noticed
So what i really wana know, is if a crop takes out 2 arrows, when does it take them out? Every other growth?
At the end of each growth cycle. So if it says 2 arrows total then it takes out 0.5 arrows at the end of each cycle.
@@JazzysGames ah!! I dont know why i didn't consider it could take fractions. Thanks so much!
I'm a Wickerbottom main. I am the farming system 😂😂
tomo root and potato is probably best
I want to hear some of your guitar playing!
Write that down! Write that down!!
In fertilizer. Whats the difference between arrow down and arrow up?
Dragon fruit has arrow up for manure, but, arrow down for compost and formula
He put only manure, but the white manure has two arrows down
I cannot understand
Dragon fruit consumes manure and restores the other two nutrients.
How do you keep your Plant Registry that organized? After i finished doing mine my plants stay on the rotten stage i searched...
hit the arrows on the bottom of each plant to filter through the stages or see the summary
@@fictitiousacct6649 Thank you
Truly ultimate
finally I got it
I was just yesterday farming for carrots (for rabbit hutches) I didn't knew that the nutrients were consumed by total growth... I wasted a lot of growth formula u.u
Ya one hit of super formula is enough for two carrot plants.
Hi Jazzy! Can you test something I heard from Glermz? That having a Dwarf star near the crops act as if there's daylight even at night, which makes the plants grow faster. He is not sure, so don't quote him on that but maybe worth the test. Thanks!
That is true. Dwarf star acts as sunlight which is the only way you can grow crops in Lights Out.
what do u mean with crops won't produce if they don't consume? if there's no manure on the plot for the plant to consume, it will not barfs up other nutrients?
Correct.
So if two poop is enough for a potato plant, does that mean you need 18 poop in total to fertilize a 3x3 potato plot?
Yeah but because of the nutrient cap on farm plots you'd want to add half at the beginning, then the other half a couple cycles later.
a zayin class is a zayin class. You can't say it's only a half
how do you use the growth formula on console? i can’t drop it in the water
I've got a problem. Sometimes when I plant plants like in 11:57, the ones in corners don't get the famili bonus. Do you know how to deal with it or is it a sort of a bug?
For some reason my action que mod does not work with the new farming. Did I miss something?
For some reason, my game crashes whenever I try to research a fertilizer.
me trys to start farm plants 4 seeds I get all weeds
Watching this I'm amazed I was able to accidentally make 2 giant potatoes.
Very good but i just can't understand good !
Ok, that's cool and all but how do i get so much rot?
What do you mean how? I always get those... Just get berries and let them rot. That's my best method.
Or light bulbs
Complex
Carrot and potato is best. Carrot for pierogies and eat potato itself
About "what to do with crops that I dont want to" problem. Just let it spoil, have more rot to make even more crops :# IDK XD
Yay more farming
How about a guide on effective farming specifically for warly? :)
seconded
How can you get the bottles?
On the ocean
Nice
I love the new idea of crops but it's too much time consuming. When you play there need to be 1 player that neeeed to know all this stuff and do nothing more than crops. It's fun for a game or two, but good luck to find a guy doing it always
You don't need to know any of this unless you want giant crops. If you just want single crops then just plant whatever you want and come back to harvest them in a few days. It's what I do most of the time.
8:55, I see Thanos on the right
wiki says that 4 arrow consumsion is for all four stages not one stage which one of you are currect
Wiki is correct. If a plant says four arrows then it will consume one per stage. Did I say differently?
@@JazzysGames you said it is not possible to put more than 3 crop in one farm tile and grow a giant why is not possible to put 9 crop in one tile and fertilize the tile in every stage of growth to get a 9 giant crop
Hmmm…I just rewatched the video and not so sure I said that. If you max out nutrients in a farm plot then you can provide for three 4-arrow crops or six 2-arrow crops. Any more and you’ll need to add fertilizer after a couple stages. I explain this around 4:52.
I only plant potato’s...
I like the new farming system but holy hell it’s complicated 😂😅
How is this simple for so many viewers? I feel so stupid
Me screaming cuz I love wormwood as hell
Me notice it's wart
Me: (confused screaming)
You see my method for having en excess amount of crops is to:
Wait for them to rot
Use rot to grow corn
Use said corn to give to pigs for manure
s t o n k s
How much nutrients have before the first crops were added ?
Me style of play is never make farms, they are so time consuming, is ridiculous
Not sure if you've watched my video "Easiest Way to Use Farm Plots," but the tl;dr is that they really aren't all that time consuming unless you want giant crops. Just plant families and tend once. Come back in four days for all the crops.
@@JazzysGames The truth is I had not seen it, after seeing it I am going to give the farms a second chance on my next server, thanks friend, I subscribe
me satisfied
Instruction unclear

still confusing.

Too late James bucket already did this so according to the internet you're a James bucket clone
Ha! James' video was great but you still might learn a few new things here.
@@JazzysGames Like what, slacker? ;-]
I like how humble you are Jazzy. Keep up the vids. You're AWESOME!!
Jazzy's guide is actually more understandable especially for beginners and definitely more informative.
