I really love my RG350. It's UI is clean and easy to use. I just import roms and all the emulators in the UI works. I tried other ones you recommended like the Retroid Pocket and Retroid Pocket2 but I just hated the open endedness of Android. The emulator apps aren't intuitive and it seem really cumbersome navigating around all the apps. Importing roms meant setting folder directories and most sav files won't recognize immediately. The DC app is almost impossible to use. It never seem to work right. I would spend a month messing with the RP2 and just give up. The RG 350 was the complete opposite. I was playing games on it and importing sav files immediately. I was able to mess around with roms on different emulators with zero issues. I wanted the RP2 because I wanted something to play PSX, PSP, and DC games with more power but it was always too much work to get things to play. It seems like RG351P and M went the same route as the RP2 which really is disappointing.
The 351p is just for GB/GBC/GBA and the 16BIT/8Bit consoles imo, it's perfect for GBA especially, PS1 also runs very well on it but the PSP and PSV run PS1 games natively on a slightly bigger screen, so I prefer to play PS1 titles on those. Let's be honest though, the perfect or close to it anyway retro handheld will be a RPi4 CM based device when eventually available, would be cool if Anbernic were to make one preferably with a 5-6" screen (AMOLED would be nice) and some beefy stereo speakers plus a decent headphone DAC/AMP built in, something that's really needed with these devices tbh, will be nice to have proper Sega Mega Drive audio that can run with the Nuked Yamaha audio filter option, imo sound is really vital for the old 16BIT era classics and so far has been pretty lacking on these handhelds. Only my GPD Win 2 is able to handle proper Mega Drive audio emulation so far, will be nice to have a simple handheld that can handle it properly.
Even though its a old device by now, but if you love Nintendo ds you will love the ZTE ATOM M dual screen phone both top and buttom screen work suprisingly well for Nintendo DS games. Its even more dope if you connect a ipega red knight controller to it but when you do it its a massive device with the controller attached to it
Christ these units come out faster than the shipping than the previous versions. By the time you order one, it’s shipped over seas and finally receive it, then they release a brand new one.
For me the ultimate GBA is a first generation GBA with an AGS 101 mod. 1:1 backlit screen, form factor, and non-emulation is the way to go for purists. IPS screens don't capture the resolution properly and any filter always looks off. The ultimate clone console GBA is probably the Retroid Pocket 2.
The story says that Taki have a direct contact with Santa Claus...that the only way to explain how he gets all the devices that fast😂 Great video thanks
Gotta say the title of the "ultimate" GBA retro handheld goes to REVO K101 Plus. Largely in part because it actually supports GBA cardridges, link cables and all that with anbernic-esque build quality.
The Raspberry Pi 4 will always be better, just have to make a great case, screen and controls for it which at this time no one has stepped up. But it will soon be a reality. When that happens, the Raspberry Pi 4 handheld will outshine all.
@@ColombianMusclePapi Unless someone figures out a way to put a MiSTer into a good handheld casing. FPGA is great and will only improve with time and better FPGA chips. But, as it is right now, Pi4 is my favorite for all Retro gaming over the PS1.
I don't feel bad for using a *legally acquired backup ROM* of Super Mario 64 when I've actually legally purchased it at least 3+ times from Nintendo. I have it on the original N64 purchased originally by my parents in the 90's, I bought it again on the Nintendo DS in the early 2000's, and believe it or not I bought it recently on the Nintendo Switch in 2021. When I download ROMs *legally of course* I don't feel remorse. I've given them my money many times over.
If you already have a GBA an IPS mod is 50$.... I mean the premodded stuff is expensive, and if you include a shell which makes it a lot easier its more like 70$ but still. Just made one myself. Flash cart and boom. I looked into one of the RK handhelds but between the weird button layout and stuff most didnt seem GBA centered, always trying to also do other systems. I think for handhelds original hardware makes sense. These are better if you wanna play other things like PCE or MAME or something on the go, but even then a PSP is about the same lol
Surely the rg351p's faulty games could be fixed with the update as the stock OS wasn't meant to be shipped with any devices so anbernic made a team/os called 351elec, granted the 351p still won't have WiFi but you can otg a dongle for updating/scrapping and as I can't find a 351m available in the UK or even for shipping to the UK right now so I'll probably end up going for the 351p as I'm still running RPI's for retro gaming
I was literally about to dip on a Retroid pocket 2 tonight.. what would you reccomend? And does this have quick resume? Thanks so much for your amazing coverage of these devices!
I have both the RG351P and Retroid Pocket 2 and the Buttons and Trigger are definitely better on the RG351P, its size make it easily portable. GBA and PSP are both better on the RG351P. But the Retroid Pocket 2 wins in nearly every other category. Better Sound quality, better Screen with higer Resolution 3.5″ IPS Display (640 x 480) perfect for Old School gaming especially Snes, Dreamcast N64 and Playstation. Better NDS, Dreamcast, N64 emulation performance on Android. Netplay in Retroach works, Snes Lan and Netplay with MultiSneS16 (much easier when Retroarch) and The My Boy! - GBA Emulator comes with Link Cable functionality. Compatible Android games: Ocean Horn, Adventure of mana, Dan the Man, Evoland 1+2, Dungeon Quest, Meltdown, Sword Of Xolan, Star Wars: KOTOR and so on.. ..and it only cost approximately $80.00. I REALLY love both but at some point I just stopped playing with the RG351P and only played on my Retroid Pocket 2. Anbernic needs to step up their game, starting by changing their screens back to the RG30M (IPS 640x480).
On a technical level, which is better - RP2 or RG351M? I discovered the world of these kind of handhelds only today and can't wait to get my hands on one of them, but I need to know which is better technically, and how much they differ...

which one do you recommend: rg351M or Retroid Pocket 2?
Always look forward to your reviews. Thank you!
3:44 the artwork has already been "scrapped" for you? 😅 Guessing that was a typo in your script that you read from verbatim? Love the videos ✌️
Hey Taki! any info about the KT R1?
Even though its a old device by now, but if you love Nintendo ds you will love the ZTE ATOM M dual screen phone both top and buttom screen work suprisingly well for Nintendo DS games. Its even more dope if you connect a ipega red knight controller to it but when you do it its a massive device with the controller attached to it
Christ these units come out faster than the shipping than the previous versions. By the time you order one, it’s shipped over seas and finally receive it, then they release a brand new one.
I just got 351m I love it.
Hey good video👍🏼 I have the Rg350m and was wondering if I can install the ArkOS software on it?
I thought the Ultimate GBA was the Revo K 101 or the GBA Consolizer from Woozle.
yes, is the revo k101
For me the ultimate GBA is a first generation GBA with an AGS 101 mod. 1:1 backlit screen, form factor, and non-emulation is the way to go for purists. IPS screens don't capture the resolution properly and any filter always looks off. The ultimate clone console GBA is probably the Retroid Pocket 2.
@@Pasicho loool
320x240 is literally perfect for GBA
The story says that Taki have a direct contact with Santa Claus...that the only way to explain how he gets all the devices that fast😂 Great video thanks
He lives in China.
What kind of SNES emulator do these run, and are they accurate and can run Final Fantasy VI on par with a Retroarch SNES9x 2005 plus core full speed?
i would like a retroick pocket 2 metal and thats it
i would love a metal Retroid pocket 2 witch a touch screen and both the analog sticks on the bottom
great video. it still amazes me. we can emulate wii u and ps3. but n64 still gives us issues.
No 4" 4:3 640X480 Screen No Party
Exactly.
I hope you make videos on the GPD Win 3 or Aya NEO soon!
Gotta say the title of the "ultimate" GBA retro handheld goes to REVO K101 Plus. Largely in part because it actually supports GBA cardridges, link cables and all that with anbernic-esque build quality.
RG351M Vs Raspberry pi 4 which one is better? Street Fighter III 3rd strike, MvC, Capcom Vs SNK 2 or Guilty Gear X works well on it?
The official Anbernic video for the 351m shows God of War PSP is playable. Could you show if this device is really capable of playing this title?
For GBA, this is better. RP2 for everything else
I have both the RG351P and Retroid Pocket 2 and the Buttons and Trigger are definitely better on the RG351P,
its size make it easily portable. GBA and PSP are both better on the RG351P.
But the Retroid Pocket 2 wins in nearly every other category.
Better Sound quality, better Screen with higer Resolution 3.5″ IPS Display (640 x 480) perfect for Old School gaming especially Snes,
Dreamcast N64 and Playstation.
Better NDS, Dreamcast, N64 emulation performance on Android.
Netplay in Retroach works, Snes Lan and Netplay with MultiSneS16 (much easier when Retroarch) and
The My Boy! - GBA Emulator comes with Link Cable functionality.
Compatible Android games: Ocean Horn, Adventure of mana, Dan the Man, Evoland 1+2, Dungeon Quest,
Meltdown, Sword Of Xolan,
Star Wars: KOTOR and so on..
..and it only cost approximately $80.00.
I REALLY love both but at some point I just stopped playing with the RG351P and only played on my Retroid Pocket 2.
Anbernic needs to step up their game, starting by changing their screens back to the RG30M (IPS 640x480).
You cant video out through the usb C? I just want something that I can take to work the plug into my TV when I get home
does this have a "sleep" button function?
On a technical level, which is better - RP2 or RG351M? I discovered the world of these kind of handhelds only today and can't wait to get my hands on one of them, but I need to know which is better technically, and how much they differ...
That's a nice review, thanks!
How to install archOs? No pc needed? Just all will be done on rg351m with wifi device right?
Last version of ReGBA (github.com/jdgleaver/ReGBA/releases ) is the ultimate gba experience. Use the Scalex2 in video option for the best smooth render
Would you suggest the 351m/p or the terroir pocket 2 ??? Mostly wanna play Pokémon and possibly Pokémon platinum
i would get the rg351
Looked at the link you posted. All the 351P's say they come with WiFi link, does that mean its now been fixed and the 351P now ships with the WiFi chip that works properly? Or do you have to get the 351M to get that function.
I'm gonna get one of these..man, Mario Cart and super street fighter would be really cool ! It's super sturdy looking . Bet theirs a whole other load of Games
When do we get the rg351v? That would be cool
so I just bought my 351m lastnight in the mail and it will not turn on. never gets to the green light. not sure what to do. any advice? dont want to wait a month for it to come in the mail again if possible
08:33 amen to that. That's so true.
Just got mine...However the sides of this model are Aluminum not plastic thats a plus!
FFS i should have waited a month, still should have added an extra SD port.
I feel like all these devices make me think "I wish I waited another month". Better devices just keep coming out.
Abo save! Now have to think of buying one. GBA ArkOs looks need.
I still have the GPD XD version 1 with android 4.4.4
And it runs Dreamcast and some Saturn games
I'd like to see a newer handheld with support for ps2 gamecube and Wii
Hopefully in the near future
I know there are people out there making handhelds with real hardware but it's expensive
The PS2 is big and bulky but real hardware plays better
I just got one from Amazon 2 days ago, it works fine but the WiFi keeps turning itself off, I still have to use a dongle and downloads are very slow, I like the system, but I’m having minor issues.
Should I get Retroid Pocket 2? Just ordered 280V and 351P.
@brycat9001 Okay I will try those first, and wait for the next Anbernic.
I'm having problems with this device's diagonal inputs on the d pad. Is it normal? Or did I just receive a defective unit?
so let me get this straight
>Wifi you don't need at all
>Bad N64, Dreamcast, DS and PSP emulation added
hard pass
almost had a panic attack when I saw they released this the day after I ordered my rg350m, but now i just feel confident in my purchase
It's got USB otg, so you should be able to use a type c to hdmi adapter
is the rg351m worth to buy than a ps vita? ive been scouting the said consoles and planning to buy on december. .however, i dunno which to buy. .lol
ps vita is better, but it's harder to put your files in it
I want hdmi when i play games with my kids, i miss it a lot with rg351, so i will stay with rg350. Maybe next time, but overall, very nice handheld
I got the rg351m black coming in the mail can I do everything I need to from the stock firmware from the device itself like adding games, updates etc.?
Pretty cool
Are there like tutorials on how to use these devices, like installing games? Or are they literally just drag and drop?
One question is there an internal clock on it?
