Hi! Loved this video-the real life of a consummate yarn lover! Re Line and Tyne Line I think I’ve heard other knitters talk about how the linen just gets softer and softer after each washing. After all your work just thought wash things a few more times before you don’t use all that gorgeous Line you have! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Dear Inga, please be assured: we love your videos, with the ideas for patterns, with the yarn aquisitions
Hi Inga, I really enjoy your podcast, you show beautiful things.
Thank you very much for recommending the Lantana Tee.
I think that a good project for your nice green exclusive silk linen spun from Feliz y Punto the Lidia tee if you like 😉
Take care! 🥰
Inga making ugh face and dropping the purl Soho rayon yarn lives rent free in my mind ❤😂
I wrote down all the pattern ideas. I am knitting a too foe my mother since. I am like you I don't like sleveless tops I prefer t shirts as well. I have some Katia cotton merino I adore 🥰 I still think what to do with it
Thanks so much for sharing your another video ❤
You are so welcome!
A lovely choice of yarns and patterns and for summer in South Africa the choice is 100 Cotton 4 ply or of 50 % cotton and 50 % Bamboo which is a lot softer. Take care Inga ❤😊 Ps it gets so hot here I tend to go for strappy tops and there are a few patterns one ravelry. But my preference is sleeves
love the episode :D and PAC = polyacrylic so should be great for kitchen towels
Thank you Inga for sharing all this very useful information. You're a treasure trove.🥰❣❣
You are so welcome
I love seeing all the yarn from different countries. I hope you do another episode of winter yarns. ❤
This is not boring at all. I already love to look through patterns for relaxation and fun, and this was extra relaxing and fun to have someone actually show them to me. To hear your opinions about the patterns was really interesting because I don’t really have anyone to discuss patterns with in such detail. I am surprised that this is actually one of my favourite things I have seen in a knitting podcast!
I'm so glad!
I love your yarns! You are veri beautiful! Hello from Romania.
Hello, thank you for this wonderful episode and I wish you good luck and inspiration in all of your beautiful projects! All are great, but my favourite is the Irene Lin design, she is so talented. You are always so inspired and give us wonderful ideas and moments. Thank you so much! 🤗🤗🤗
Yes, I definetely like your videos, especially when they are looooong❤. Very beautiful yarn and colors from Japan. You can make an intarsia sweater, distribute the "not your" colors down and "your" color top and it will be wonderful and keep the Japans feelings.
Thank you for the summer inspiration. Greetings from the Czech Republic.
Love seeing all of your squishy summer fibers!! And that’s quite a traffic jam at the end! 😯 🐐
The sweet roadblock at the end! 😊 🐐
Nothing better than one of your long episodes Inga. I also love to “shop” from my stash, it gives me so much joy. ❤❤
Love the goats! Haha! Thanks Inga for the time. - Kimberly
Hello from Eastern Europe, I'm so happy you show and use some familiar yarn for me, I mean Alize yarns ! (Here we pronounce Alize with accent on e),.love your videos, you keep me company while I knit on a dress with Alize ombre batik cotton
Oh i have used thag yarn😍
Inga, you know, it is never too long! It is a moment for me to relax ans enjoy every moment that you give me. You are inspiring. How do you find space in your house to have that much yarn? I know you have a knitting room. Do you spend time knitting in this room or is it just to store all the yarn? Because, it seems to be a very nice piece. I always appreciate the video at the end with the nature and the animals. I really like to visit your country. Thank you Inga to share with me x
I store all the yarn in the knitting room but i also knit and weave in it;)
Inga, if youvweave with them pull on the yarn and if it does not break, weave with it warp and weft, but if it breaks😮,only use for weft! I love a lot of your tees, and I think I have most of them in my favs😀
Oh my word, that's QUITE the Summer yarn stash! 🤣❤ Your video has given me some inspiration though so thank you 😊
Road blocks in Norway are quite similar to road blocks in rural Ireland, only it's sheep for us here, or cows! 😂
Those thinner cotton yarns (fingering to light fingering) work also beautifully with unspun; they bring structure without bringing the fuzzyness of the mohair 🙏🏻☺️
Thanks Inga, another video full of inspiration. I also have lots of yarn that I bought with something in mind, but now can't remember what that something was. I'm glad I'm not the only one! I knit an Anker's Summer Shirt out of Line and I have no issues with stiffness after washing. I've washed mine several times and it's nice and soft. Though I admit, I have tossed it into the dryer for a few minutes several times. That may help soften things. I know that when I air-dry bath towels they feel almost crunchy, but when I dry them in the dryer they are very soft. Love your videos! Thanks!
Thanks for sharing your plant fiber stash with us. I couldn’t help noticing that you had lots of black, light green and cream colors. Maybe you should sort by color so you can see what you already have. It’s great that two of the yarn brands are exactly the weights and even color numbers!
I am casting on a test knit for Anna at the bluebird box while watching this, for her Pure tee. I think you'd like it! thanks for chatting with us xx
I'll check it out! Thabk you
The lovely mandarin colour cotton (at 27:24) with the cream colour in the same yarn would be gorgeous in one of the striped tee patterns.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 the sheep/ram/goat creatures just chilling in the middle of the road 🤣🤣🤣🤣 wow what an iconic image right there
i haven't made any of her designs yet myself, but i want to make something from fabel knitwear. her romantic, whimsical designs are right up my alley, aesthetics wise. ive also been looking at the camisole patterns from my favourite things knitwear for a while now
new zealand is in the middle of winter right now, so i don't quite have the summer knit motivation. however, i did dye some organic cotton yarn with coffee grounds, so i want to make a blouse with that one day!
It was so good time with you. For our summer (Lithuania) it is reasonable to make only two types of T-shirts. Majority could be cotton/merino and linen/silk mohair. And few could be pure linen or silk/linen for the few days we have about +30. But, actually, I love silk very much. I'm in process of making pure silk top again. Cotton is not my favorite, but feels better with silk. Only silk requires more care when washed.
This was a wonderful video! I was just spending too much time yesterday looking for a summer tee and yarns to knit it with. I settled on a cotton bamboo silk one from knit picks, but it is so hard if you can’t feel it, isn’t it! I was laughing when you were rifling through your stash and thought it was great that a you tube star is so human 🤣Thank you so much for your time making these.
You are so welcome!😘
Hi inga, thanks fòr your stash tour. Makes me feel better about mine😂 loads of ideas building up xxxx😊
I made a tee several years ago with Cotton from Turkey and I love it. It gets soft and has some shine to it. It is different to knit with but the end product I great.❤️🇨🇦❤️
Inga, this was lovely to see all your Summer stash and your acquisitions from your travels. The Feliz y Punto will be beautiful, and the yarn from Walnut would make a great stripe Tee. You have a fantastic library of yarns and I am sure will have lots of inspiration, you inspired me! I'm off to dive into my stash and look at Summer yarns to get some new Tee projects knitted up quickly to wear this Summer. Thank you!
hiiiii inga - i got a notification that this had come out, but i was at work 😭😭😭😭 best feeling in the world though, knowing that i can come home and open the podcast and knit
Hi Inga! I’m here no getting rid of me! Love to watch and listen to you! Love all patterns and your stashed yarns! I agree I’m not sure about knitting with cotton yarn?... I went to my local yarn store to buy sock yarn only and shop was closed so I’ll wait till Thursday maybe! I’m going to a yarn exhibition where hopefully I’ll be able to buy it’s August so really looking forward to it! It’s Newcastle NE Uk 🇬🇧! Thank you as always! Xx 💜🧶💜
I love your stash vids!
I have enjoyed DanDoh yarn…cotton silk…did the Anker tee with it last year. Love your stash😊
I really thought this was going to be a short video with like 3 balls of yarn lol beautiful yarn. Looks like you have some gift knitting coming up!
Thank you Inga for another inspiring episode! I knitted a "Summer Ella" by Lene Holme Samsø in papyrus yarn last summer. Loved knitting it and love wearing it. Highly recommend! Wishing you a lovely summer with lots of knitting time. /Linda (knitting Swedish midwife)
Hi Inga, steaming does magic to linen content, usually after steam blocking linen becomes flowy and nice, and very pleasant to wear ❤
If you use iron for steam blocking do not touch the fabric, but keep the iron right above it (about 1cm higher)
I made the Everyday Attitude tee using Isager Bomulin and I LOVE it. Interesting construction and very quick knit. Highly recommend 🎉Thanks for your episode it was lots of fun to watch you dig through your stash 😊
Speaking of cotton bamboo, Lorena Bamboo from Ice Yarns is a beautiful sport weight yarn. Its similar to Lion Brand Coboo, but less splitty. And Ice Yarns ships worldwide!
“It’s going to be a long one.” Yay let me go grab a nice glass of pinot and settle in to watch Inga 😊💛
Oh Inga I was secretly hoping you’d that about this subject! I live in Canada so I can pretty much say the same thing about our summers (mayyyybe 3 + months but with cold weeks here and there throughout). I also am accumulating beautiful summer yarn and I am so happy to get inspiration and ideas from you also because I love your style 😊❤
Awe thank you💕 we have similar summers then!
Hello Inga!!! Thank you for another visit
Always enjoy your videos, and this one gave me the push to cast on the Air tee by Ozetta which I have the ‘correct’ yarn for - unusual for me too! Thanks Inge x
Sounds great!
Thank you for so many ideas for patterns and yarn🤩. My local yarn store doesn't have a large selection of thin plantfiber yarns- below sports the best options would be Tynn Line. Knit on 3mm it's reasonably soft (and I don't handwash it), but I don't have much to compare it against. It's regrettable that the colors are rather pale- no deep reds, greens and blues. I've recently knit a top with Fyberspates gleem lace- the yarn looks absolutely stunning and it seems to be weightless
Hi Inga,
Yarn Art Jeans is very popular in Eastern Europe (though I believe is made in Turkey), as far as I know is 55% cotton and 45% polyacrylic - so not sure how wearable the garment would be in summer, but i know many people love it for having many colors and being affordable.
Thank you for another amazing video and lots of inspiration!
Lovely video thank you for the inspiring summer tees . I really appreciate it.
You are so welcome!
Loving the summer yarns, as I live in Florida.
The Salty Air Tee is a great pattern that is dressy enough for you to wear to work under your Lab coat.
And we are all Inga when it’s time to organize stash😂😂😂
And love the Norwegian traffic jam. 😂
What a fun video! I enjoyed it very much!
Here are some summer yarns that I like:
Studio Linen from Erika Knight, but I'm not sure that you would like it because of the rayon... I also like Sabri by Illimani Yarn which is a light fingering 85% Cotton, 15% Alpaca; very pleasant to knit. I just finished knitting my second Rosenrot by Lene Tøsti. It's a great knit, but it is necessary to modify the armholes as they are very small. I just finished my second Rosenrot while watching your video. This time, I used the Sparrow fingering yarn from Quince & Co. which is 100% linen. I love it! It's so drapey, and much softer than I expected.
I am obsessed with granny square these days so this week, I started the Inside Out Circles Top by Lion Brand, it's a free pattern, and I am using 8/4 100% cotton in 6 different colours.
One of my favourite summer t-shirt patterns is the Velen by Camille Descoteaux. It's simple with an interesting texture and construction, and the pattern is beautifully written. I would also love to try the Rock It Tee by Tanis Lavallée.
As you said, there are not enough hours in a day! 😄 Take care!
I love the roadblock kids 🐐🐐🐐🤣😂 Wonderful podcast, lovely yarns 🧶🧶
Thank you! 😊
You are an awesome influence !!!! Every time I watch you, I calm down and feel better. My summer stash is 30% of your’s, and I was feeling anxious about needing to use it. You seem to be OK with yours… so I am fine! On my second cumulus tee, using silk/linen, feels great! thank you❤
I'm so glad to be of service hehe😁💕💕
I live in the wicked hot climate of coastal NC. I recently realized my wooly knits were getting very little wear. Our warm season is 6-7 months with foolish shoulder season of a month on either side. Our cold season is December-March but there are many days during this time that are really only cool. So I am focusing my knitting on plant based yarns.
I'm knitting the Umbria top right now and I love the simplicity of it, its just a basic raglan with a low set buttons so the top of two fronts just kinda folds like a collar ))
I have the Moon Set t-shirt on the needles right now. She has a very interesting way to do the collar which has worked up really nicely! You'll like knitting this pattern. :)
Also, Hobbii has a really nice bamboo yarn. Works up beautifully and is, for me, very soft. It's a less expensive yarn as well - bonus!
That is awesome!
Ooh nice! You'll enjoy wearing it too. I made one last year and it's been my favourite knit ever since then! :))
I love this. I like the great selection of pattern choices. I am only halfway through....
Oh my…nail biting passing the goats. I frogged my partially knitted Koivua Light while watching you organize your summer yarn stash. I enjoy watching your content.❤
My go to for any yarn, even one skein, is Irina Revo “easiest triangle shawl”, because it’s for any yarn, any amount, always turns out symmetrical. It can be a scarf or huge shawl. I love it because it is garter and though it’s knit straight, the pattern becomes diagonal! So amazing in one color or stripes, even self striping yarn!
I get so many ideas from watching these knitting planning videos ❤
I love when you go thru patterns you’ve found! I’m currently knitting the Ilha sweater by Orlane Sucche after I saw it in another patterns video you did 😊 And now the Gauzy Tee is on my “to knit” list. Thank you, Inga!
Wonderful!
With the linen, you definitely need to put in a tumble dryer after, some cotton's and definitely linen get that crisp feeling after washing.
i have knit lots of cotton dishcloths, and a scarf and tank out of linen. my experience was that they softened up in the wash, but i dry them in a machine. if you are hanging to dry, you might try shaking them out firmly or gently beating them against a clean wall to soften them after they air dry.
I thoroughly enjoyed hearing and seeing the patterns that are inspiring you, as well as knitting away while you were sharing your plant-based yarn stash! I rarely knit with anything heavier than DK, even in winter, because I'd rather layer my knits than feel overheated when I'm inside at work. The list of patterns you shared gave me lots of ideas! Thank you for all the yarny chat while I got my linen top to the point of splitting for the sleeves! 💖
have you ever tried using iron with steam or ironing through the damp cheese cloth on cotton yarn garments? it might soften them up to your liking.
I loved seeing your stash! You pattern ideas are awesome! I will be knitting a few of those! Thank you!
So excited! It has been a long week! And just seeing you makes my week!
Every video is so inspiring 😍 Thank you for this
You are so welcome!
Thanks for the pattern. Your stash is even bigger than mine. My husband has said I've got to promise not to buy anymore yarn. No chance. He doesnt understand what stash is 😊 love Norway by the way. Been several times from the UK.
Thanks for the round up. The Seaside tee by cocoamour knitwear is a another fun one.
I love my Cloudberry Tee! It's my most worn knitted tee. I used Lindy chain by Knit Picks - a Linen/Cotton blend. The flowers on the sleeves are colorwork and bobbles. Happy knitting!
Inga, thinking of your formerly-nice Cumulus Tee in Tynn Line, many plant fiber fabrics that stiffen up from washing will soften again when ironed. Of course you wouldn't iron your knitting like a cloth garment but I wonder if it would help if you gently passed the iron over the knitted fabric with no pressure, got it heated up and maybe patted it a bit. Especially since it has viscose in it. That may help. Hmmm...
Thanks for the tip!
@@knittingtraditions it occurred to me afterward, it might be easier to put it into a hot clothes dryer for a couple of minutes but only if the tee is completely dry when it goes in.
I ❤ the concept / merino yarn by Katia !i just knit two tanks from Sari with it!
I sometimes will donate unloved yarn . There are libraries, senior centers, shelters, prisons that will accept donations of yarn. They run programs or pass it on to less fortunate people that cannot afford to buy yarn. So that makes me feel good.
Another great episode. Had to pause you several times to check where I could purchase yarn that recommended. Thanks for your honest opinions on the different yarns,it really helps.
You are so welcome!
This is perfect timing. Following your last video, I ordered yarn from Hillesvag and it finally arrived today. Perfect accompaniment as I unbox my order.
Wonderful!😍
This is exactly what I needed at this moment, I'm so happy!! Hi, Inga
I love that you looked at a whole 60 pages of Ravelry when looking for the Tee patterns
I'm so glad!
Inga, this was so much fun thank you for sharing! You gave me lots of ideas to dream about yarn and pattern combos. You could weave some dish/hand towels with your cotton yarns as well. Maybe with yarns that don’t make the cut this go-around for any of your summer garments, that would be a good way to make use of them. 🤍
Great idea!!
Inspirerende episode 👏🧶🤩
My favorite pattern this summer is Joni by Natasja Hornby. Knitted it twice within one month.
Så morro å få være med på å planlegge litt sommerstrikk. Var flere mønster der som virkelig frister 😍 Takk for en inspirerende episode. God sommer !
Cute goats!
Takk for en koselig strikkestund 🥰
Dear Inga, thank you for sharing your ideas and for show us your yarns; all of them are beautiful and really inspire to knitting 💓💓💓; i love all your yarns colours and the composition of them. The latest group of yarns, that you consider as not your colours is really lovely. May be you would like to sell them? I would like to know it. Thank you in advance for the answer😊
More like a typical British summer here now, cool and rainy, so those yarns with 60%wool would be right for us.
One more vote for the Collett Tee by Witre Design. The instructions are a bit more for experienced knitters, as they don't hold your hand as much as e.g., you find in a Petite Knit pattern, but it was definitely doable. I even decided to calculate it for another yarn weight which worked perfectly, and yes: the fit is AMAZING (a lot better than how it looks on the sample photo imo)! :)
Agreed!
That’s so interesting how you have a touch sensitivity to the purl soho yarn. I have that same yarn and I ❤️ love it. It’s interesting how people are impacted differently by yarns.
I get that same reaction from wooly wool! 😣
So strange how different we feel by touch!
I would really like to knit the Holiday by Susie Haumann but it is only in Danish. The MyTeeser by Jill Karina Bø also looks lovely so I might try that next.
I'm currently working through the Faye Summer Top you mentioned using Sandnes Garn Line, and it's turning out beautifully. It is a lot of mental effort though, so be warned.
Find someone with a dryer. Drying linen in a dryer makes it soft and delicious.
I might suggest a beautiful tonal striped t-shirt with the 2 off white Line from the store & outlet...that way you'd have plenty :-)
The tolsta tee has a fingering weight version too! :)
The light blueish cone looks like Holst Coast
Takk for en fin episode. Gøy å se andre sine garnlager, om det er sommergarn eller vintergarn. Masse fine farger og masse fin mønsterinspo.
the tolsta is a quick pattern. There is a fingering and dk version. I kind 3 dk and hope to kind a fingering soon,
That’s so thoughtful of you Debra, Thanks for your positive review,How are you and how’s the weather over there?
Thank you for such a beautiful bonus-episode, Inga! :) I have a question since you mention living north from Bergen - I´ll be doing a 2 week roadtrip from Stavanger to Ålesund in August, do you have any yarn store or other yarn-y recommendations somewhere on the way? It looks like we´ll be passing the Hillesvåg mill on a sunday (when it´s closed 😢), so I'm hoping to find a replacement yarn-y stop on the way. :)
Go tp the sandnes garn mill just outside of stavanger and the rauma mill on your way to ålesund
@@knittingtraditions Thank you for the tips! I wasn´t aware of Rauma´s location, we´ll definitely stop there. :) Since I live in Stavanger, Sandnes Garn is my "home" yarn mill - their factory is awesome too
Hi Inga. Did you see the Bellis tee by Fibertales? Lovely pattern.
It is so amusing to me that you find some cotton yarns stiff or not soft enough. But you will knit with rustic wool!! 😅
I like all your feedback on the summer fibers, Thanks ! What is happening with the goats on the road ?
They just chilling:p sheep goats and alot of cattle roam free in the summer months🤭
@@knittingtraditions This seems so dangerous to me !!!
A long one imdeed! But very enjoyable ❤
