if you told someone in season of plunder that linear fusions and smgs would be 2 of the worst weapon types in the game in 2 yeares they would think you are insane
its crazy because even with the 20 percent damage buff from the new artifact mod, ARs still feel kinda mid, sidearms, smgs, and ars all need substantial buffs, the lowest range weapons with the most risk for using them but have extremely mid dps thats not worth the risk, or just out right awful. and sidearms arent even that bad, they are really good actually in comparison to everything else, but pulses are so much better it completely eliminates any reason to use them outside of just personal preferance
I ll give my two cents here. I love ARs. Khvostov is the outlier here for me since it s also an exotic so it does more minor damage and it has an on hit perk which is good in all content. For legendary ARs, the story is completely different. Rufus feels like a literal pea shooter. Summoner is good because of it s perks and even then you won t use it in a GM. ARs and SMGs need a buff for sure.

Otherwise I'm probably just throwing Incan on it lol.
Them having terrible stability even on M&K is why I'd never use Target Lock on them. 99% of the time it never goes above x2, unless you're sitting there shooting a large target that's impossible to miss, and even then, if you're doing something like a GM, you're probably going to be moving to stay alive, so you can't take advantage of it. I'd always go Frenzy over target lock on machine guns. Hell, even Vorpal is more consistent
I’ve always liked the archetype system. Allowing greater flexibility within a single weapon type by shifting the boundaries of rate of fire/damage per shot with range ammo handling and other secondary stats. It feels more well thought out than other games I love like Warframe where things are literally just better or worse regardless or type.
im still really sad linears are poop, they took the 15% nerf in lightfall and haven’t been touched since then. they’ve been powercrept into oblivion and there’s just not a reason to use them anymore when whisper exists. i don’t know how they could buff them, maybe they could go the route of giving them insanely high total damage and ammo, and revert the 15% nerf they got in lightfall for one? it’s kinda just hard for them to exist in a world where whisper exists as the defacto crit based dps option.
Problem is that during TWQ they were the right combination of "strong enough" and "incredibly easy to use" that it was difficult to justify using anything else--even if Gjallarhorn-based strats were optimal, which was something a lot of people didn't understand at the time, people (at least the ones I interacted with) largely saw no point in risking blowing yourself up. Doubly so in a world with pre-nerf Div--at least nowadays you can justify Tractor Cannon over the big crit bubble. Which is to say LFRs basically cannot be buffed to be competitive with the likes of Whisper unless something is done about their incredible ease of use.
@@life-destiny1196i feel like your comment really summarizes the issue perfectly, considering how rocket launchers and GLs have the risk of blowing yourself up or being unwieldy. linears kinda just feel like a problem child when it comes to balance. at this point i feel like giving them a deeper ammo reserve and giving them higher total damage would probably be the best, letting them be more flexible for things like ad clear or champion clearing while not being the best for dps, but that’s realistically the best I can come up with in terms of how one would buff them without encroaching on whisper’s niche.

In my view, glaives could be better at add clear. If they can replace a primary, then their defensive properties become much more valuable. So they should be a double special setup enabler.
As Always thank's so much for this work Aegis. I'm totaly agree with you, LFR needs some love, I know back in Time we got LFR meta for long period, but right now, heavy GL and RL are easier to use and deal more dmg. The exotic strand LFR deal more dmg than an Legendary LFR heavy munition, only using green bricks.
I hate that I know this, but Precision GLs were kind of a thing in year 1. Day’s Fury, Orthrus, Sunrise GL4. They still suck though (those legendaries have Quickdraw, Snapshot and spike nades, and Threat Detector respectively).
Is the "Elite" column for the Champion/Mini-boss or for the orange bar enemies ? The two seems to have very different damage modifiers. Thank you for your great work, this tierlist made things so much clearer now !
Just to add on, champion scalars are almost the exact same as boss scalars. Outside of a few exotic outliers, champion dps is probably only 0-6% more dps than the boss numbers.
@@SpiderReviver I looked at mossy's spreadsheet, but the numbers I saw there showed a much larger variation. Something like 10% to 20%. Am I misunderstanding something ? How did you get the 0-6% number ?

Rocket sidearms are so good that even if Bungie does eventually nerf them, i'd still run them. I've always had a problem with almost every other spesh - snipers are inconvenient when things are hectic, shotties range is too short as well as fusions, wave gls are too niche, traces feel top much like a primary. Best I ever used was breech gls and Mountaintop but they're not the best for ammo dumping. And then some genius decided to make a weaker mountaintop that you can ammo dump... and it's perfect.
Aegis have you thought about seeing the bullets/time-to-kill for weapons? It may be an interesting see which weapons can realistically kill a group of ads fastest. (Excluding perks/base weapon)

Le monarque - apply weaken on perfect draw precision hits. If thats too OP then let it create a breach on kill. At least this allows these to synergise with aspects or fragments.
Even with it being "the best primary", I still think 2-burst pulses are underrated here. They hit hard, have some of the best perks, can be used at safe range, and they eviscerate enemies. Though I understand any sort of "minor DPS" is useless when all we're doing is spamming Consecration and LMGs these days, I feel like it deserves a higher shoutout with the heavy burst hand cannon. No other general purpose primary punches as hard as they do while providing such great safety IMO.
bro is fucking going places when he start irl work - level of detail here is so unappreciated on youtube. as all we need is 'BROKEN' 'OP' '6000%' dMg increase.
Completely disagree with heavy burst sidearms being under lightweight sidearms landing crits gets way easier after a short time of use. We just need more of them lol I'm still using Brass attacks lmao, other than that great vid
They really only let us have a single year of LFRs being usable and then shoved them right back into obscurity. LFRs are my favorite weapon type and i cant have anything out here
Ive been running a healer build that support auto has just become my favorite gun full stop, even when im playing alone its still on me at all times, Mo Hesitation is frankly super good, I am however intrested in if different elements of the support frame will give different effects? Like if they make a void one will it grant oversheild? A arc giving amp? Stasis giving frost armor? Potentially woven mail and making the navigators base exotic perk useless? What the hell would kinetic do if it exists? Just give people more damage??
Linears really are in a weird place. They were nerfed by 15% when Lightfall dropped, then rockets got reconstruction/envious + bait and switch, which completely fucked linears completely, then GLs got the same treatment which fucked them even more. If they were to be buffed, I don't think it could just get the 15% back, because then only the linears with bait and switch would be used and all the other ones wouldn't even be a consideration. How WOULD linears be buffed? A combination of a damage buff + ammo reserves? Maybe less flinch? They're in such a strange spot imo
Cant agree with glaives, as you said, we are on a melee meta. Makes no sense to me to ignore how much glaive melee scales with melee bonuses and how much of a QOL it is to have a shield that resists knockback from bosses... In fact, they are super good right now and the melee buff is great!
Glaive melees consistently receive less of a buff (synthos giving 2x glaive melee buff instead of 2.65x that most melees get) or don't work at all. And the only glaive melee perk to buff glaives is 'Close to melee'. If glaives were closer to acting like actual melees they would be extremely good, but Bungie just hates letting the melee interact properly with perks.
@@SpiderReviverthey do receive buffs from a lot of different sources though. Since they benefit from perks related to melee only and can benefit from perks related to weapons simultaneously (Like wormwood carress). Bow titan with wormgod deals 80k per glaive melee. And glaive melees trigger BoW too. There’s a lot of sinergy with melee builds, that’s what surprised me here. And glaives receive a bigger buff than swords, even if the buff is not as high as it is for melees. Consider that glaive melee is already decent at base (20k) for something that requires no ammo and can be spammed by holding defense down
Coriolis force got written off due to pvp imo. It's a high impact with precision charge rate. Sounds great until you look at the perks. Coriolis force sucks all around.

ARs need a buff, the seasonal mod makes them viable but it doesn't really make it substanstially better than anything else.
Gonna have to wait for the Khvostov nerf first brother
@@martinvraniskoski7379why would it need a nerf? It sucks
Aggressive scouts one shot the eyes on that one Spire boss tho
Traces better hehe
Even with it being "the best primary", I still think 2-burst pulses are underrated here. They hit hard, have some of the best perks, can be used at safe range, and they eviscerate enemies. Though I understand any sort of "minor DPS" is useless when all we're doing is spamming Consecration and LMGs these days, I feel like it deserves a higher shoutout with the heavy burst hand cannon. No other general purpose primary punches as hard as they do while providing such great safety IMO.
Underrated thumbnail
Great thumbnail btw
I use compressed WF GL for boss damage whenever I can. It's not the best, numbers-wise...but I don't risk blowing myself up.
What perks would you recommend for the call (general content). Also do you recommend high velocity or high blast stat?
I think High-Explosive + Backup Mag is highest reserves AFAIK
The linear slander is getting str8 diabolical at this point
you gave love to coriolis.
Good
When you come down use your reverse thrusters
bro is fucking going places when he start irl work - level of detail here is so unappreciated on youtube. as all we need is 'BROKEN' 'OP' '6000%' dMg increase.
man i love these vids

Aegis pookie is back. I was so sad while waiting 2 weeks for another yap sesh :(
good morning aegis
mewhen aegis posts (yippe now its a good day)
AEGIS CAN YOU DO A WEAPON ROLE TIERLIST?
Waaaa
Completely disagree with heavy burst sidearms being under lightweight sidearms landing crits gets way easier after a short time of use. We just need more of them lol I'm still using Brass attacks lmao, other than that great vid
Thank you for defending the meager honor of bows and Aggressive fusions.
Interesting question!
55m banger dropped :3
Hour long Aegis👏🏽👏🏽... yesssss!!
Needed this
Cant agree with glaives, as you said, we are on a melee meta.
Consider that glaive melee is already decent at base (20k) for something that requires no ammo and can be spammed by holding defense down
wake up babe new aegis vid
You can pull my Frenzy, Alloy Mag Recluse from my cold dead hands
Coriolis force got written off due to pvp imo. It's a high impact with precision charge rate. Sounds great until you look at the perks. Coriolis force sucks all around.
good morning aegis
thoughts on speleologist? feels pretty good even though rapid fire
Not bad, ranked it A tier
Finally, my long awaited opinion has arrived
Abberant Action imo is so op it makes 99% of content pretty trivial
I always thought linears were a more forgiving precision dps option than snipers. Better body shot damage means your average gamer dps'ing a boss without div would prolly do better with a linear than sniper
I thought linears had the most punishing multiplier but I could be wrong
@@TheAegisRelic Just checked values in Mossy's sheet, pretty similar multipliers.
Prec Linears did 44722.1 to boss head vs. 12996.2 (3.44x multiplier).
Rapid Sniper did 21142.9 vs. 6144.2 (3.44x mult).
Oh cool it's the same haha
Aegis not dumping the game makes my knees weak and my palms sweaty moms spaghetti
So surrounded is better on linear than bns?
Well I mean it's a higher bonus but much less applicable
aegis i just got back from the store and i bought an arizona
Sick
Boy's yapping educationally (Linears are so bad it hurts Whisper is the Ex that just pipes like no one else. Please Bungie let my Cataclysmic see the sun)
Sorry for the dumb question, but what do you mean by bipod swapping? Like using a Crux with Bipod/EL and switching to EL during dps?
Yeah
