It’s crazy how competitive the ar15 market is, you can get an entry level gun for $700 (and now apparently under $400) or you can get an absolute art piece over $2000 and still have complete interchangeability between the two.

glad to see the Mossberg 500 rated that high above the Remington 870. Not only better QC for the last 15ish years, but much more intelligently laid out controls. Safety and slide release lever both being accessible WITHOUT breaking your firing grip, and a replaceable ejector, unlike the Remington.

The Beretta and CZ are amazing deals. They’re probably the two cheapest pistols you can find that are 100% duty grade and bombproof, and made by reputable (not Turkish) companies. The APX especially should cost a lot more than it does, but I suspect Beretta is essentially taking a loss on it to try to gain market share.

Glad to hear you had a great experience with your Bear Creek....I'm going to order a 300 AAC upper from them in a couple of days...(I'm a 30 cal fan NOT a 5.56 or Hansel and Grendel fan). BC is temp out of lowers..Probably go pickup a PSA lower for now. Jury's out on whether I'll buy an additional upper in 7.62x39mm Might just save up and get an 18 inch 308 (22's are nose heavy)...
The 5.7 Rock is a very interesting pistol BUT waiting to see when PSA puts them back on sale at 299 to 319.
NOW, my critiques....The Sub2k is the flimsiest, most uncomfortable POS I've ever wasted $$$ on.....Wasn't going to dump as much as I paid for it improving it with overpriced McCarbo...Lucky to have gotten what I had in it back once the rebate check FINALLY arrived (Criminally SLOW 3rd-party rebate company).
The Canik compact is another problem. Unlike alot of weapons that need a break-in, the MC9 seems to wear out after 2k rounds.....
NOW, I like the CZ's BUT not the 10 series. As far as an improvement, for like 14 bux over 400, find an IWI Masada Slim.

Chris, I also have an M&P 15-22, which both my Wife and I really enjoy shooting! I’ve done two upgrades to it: added a Volquartsen extractor (it’s super sharp and ejects each and every shell or cartridge…without fail!) and a B.A.D. Lever (you know what that’s all about.
What I thought was good on the part of Smith…the rifle came with an MLok hand guard and not the older quad pic rails, front and rear flip up Magpul sights and Magpul adjustable stock. It has an extreme nice barrel, adding to it’s accuracy. The control placement is a mirror image of an AR. You can also drop in any AR trigger.

    1.Mossberg Model 395KB with C-Lect choke.
    -$215.00 US
    - Long barrel and full choke pushes buckshot out to 100 yards with only about a 6 yard spread. (My experience at a 125 yard flat-range with Fiocchi Defense Dynamics Buckshot, 2 3/4 inch).
    - Open choke at same distance pushes Fiocchi Extrema Aero-Slugs surprisingly accurately at only 6-7 MOA.
    - Being able to adjust the choke with no tools is great.
    2.Stevens Model 25, semi-auto .22LR. Old school, simple, accurate.
    -$175.00 US
-Dead-on without sight adjustments within 100 yards.
-Easy to take apart and clean.

I purchased my Mossberg 500 In 1971 (mom had to sign I was only 16). Got it because in those days you had to change barrels to change choke unless you got the Lyman choke tube system or the twist (poly) choke. You could get the 500 with a poly choke in 12 ga and a 26" barrel, all of which I wanted. I was worried about the allow receiver but the barrel made up my mind. I am so glad I did. It never ever let me down during the 35+ years I used it. The action started smoother than an 870 and just kept getting better. The absolute best return on investment of any gun I ever owned and at the center of so many many wonderful memories.

Anyway, I took it to the range with a large mix of 9mm ammo. This included some of my late Father's hand loads. Some of the hand loads had the bullets seated too low and were shorter than factory spec. My son and I shot all the sketchy hand loads, generic bulk ammo, Maxx Tech, Magtech, and an old box of Winchester NATO. No problems or jams. My Browning Hi-Power had feed problems with all the sketchy hand loads, and only liked the old Winchester NATO (No surprise here, it is a work in progress).
