So many variables, time, desire, passion, personality, tenacity, luck, persistence, motivation, logistics, knowledge, experience, space, etc. Oh yeah and then there’s MONEY 💰. How much expendable cash does one have for records. Every collector has the same story and a different one at the same time. Great topic, Champ!
Thanks Steve! Money is definitely part of the collecting equation. We didn’t even touch trade ups or flips for financial level ups to more rare/pricier pieces. Another topic we probably could have went deeper on, but maybe revisit again down the road. Side note, saw your latest sealed + reveal video. Keep them coming! Not that I’m wishing you find damaged records, but they are great PSA’s to other collectors to remember to actually open their records and re-sleeve/process their collections for sonic satisfaction. 🤘🏻
@@CJNooberson Prof! I thought you permanently discarded us for the Jazz streams. So glad to see you drop by! Thought of you recently as I was in SC helping a couple stores “lighten their inventories” 🤣
Excellent show as usual chaps. Arnaldo got it perfectly...too many records, not enough time. I don't get burnt out but I hate buying too many records in a week. It does then feel like I'm going through the motions and adding more average records to an already overly large collection. Regarding styrene I'm not a 45 collector but know guys who are and they're never happy with those pressings. They DJ and styrene suffers badly from queue burn...not ideal for repeatdly queing up or scratching purposes! A lot of rare soul and funk from the early 70s is pressed on styrene but some also got a normal vinyl press so they are understandbly more preferable to the collectors (and more expensive). Hope you're well mate... cheers Nige.
I’m with you Nige. When I take a deliberate pause in picking up (new to me) records, I feel like I’m missing finding good stuff by not putting in the work during that time. Going through the motions, definitely, but like anything I have to keep reminding myself to have balance in this and other pursuits. Maybe I’m closer to the “final boss” than I think? 🧐 Have a great weekend Buddie! Until next time…
Very good topic Chance, our collecting experience does change with time, at least it has for me. The older we get the more it changes. Now to me it is about what am I going to do with all of these albums? Why do I keep buying them? This becomes a big concern when no one in the family is really interested in the music.
Steve! So true. I anticipate making the "big purge" as we eventually downsize our home situation, but at the same time who knows - maybe I just cut and start from scratch like so many others have before us. 🙂

Arnaldo's perspective on phases of collecting was spot on. Well said sir!

@@ConcertBuddie Nice! I'm always lurking. I like the Bum's, your show, and Rob's streams. That's 99% of my VC viewing.
