Great show. Sorry I missed the live version. I was at work and the coaching my son's 5th grade football team until about 8:30p.m. I was in bed by 9:30.
Watching now, I was gonna go up in the middle of the night for this but Stunty being ill is affecting the whole country, I couldn't muster the strength to do it!
We appreciate your feat of bravery here Oak - in the face of formidable odds, and Stunty's illness, you came....you saw...and you commented. I cannot thank you enough, and this will be etched in the stone of the Vinyl Community Hall of Justice for all to see. :-)

Entertaining chat as always chaps. You know I don't really buy many reissues but still sad if VMP goes under. My one and only VMP record is Gang Starr debut and they did a lovely job, with bonus unreleased track so I thank them for that. Have many VMP releases got up in value Chance? I noticed their releaee of De La Soul Is Dead from 2019 is selling for 3 figures. Wish I'd bought that one in 2019 as comments on Discogs suggest its better audio than the recent reissue. PS Blossom Dearie record Jason showed at the end is great...check out the track I Like London In The Rain....killer! Cheers Nige
@@nigelcampag1290 hey Nige! I have a ridiculous number of their releases, and I’ll tell anyone that when VMP is good, it’s real good. Generally pressing quality is high with the occasional stinker or “meh” engineering job. I did buy the De La after market (sold out the 1st time, before I could claim one) for $70 and enjoy it mucho. A handful of their titles have hit triple digits on the after market, but in a lot of cases they ultimately find a way to repress (Gorillaz, QOTSA, etc) so more can enjoy the music. I’m totally fine with that. The trick nowadays (see Rhino) is selling something as limited (usually gold numbered) when they can (and do) repress it and make it a common title. Doing this in the “audiophile” wing of the record collecting community is getting those repress labels significant heat right now, but they don’t give a care. See the Black Sabbath debut originally limited to 5k, repressed already, and now part of the “Rocktober” releases. In the end, it’s about the music and listening to it. But the crafty marketing is a nuisance and deceptive to those that spend up on “high quality” releases they think are limited only to see them mass produced. Another topic for another show….
@@ConcertBuddie Thanks for all the info Chance. I thought there'd be a few titles commanding decent money. Nice one on the De La purchase. I'm only aware of the Sabbath situation through your fine podcast Chance 😉. As Q Tip of ATCQ once said...'Industry rule number four thousand and eighty, record company people are shady'.
It would be sad to see VMP go under. I have absolutely loved the service. I have got so many amazing records, and have been introduced to so much music I previously wasn’t aware of.
Firm believer here that the more companies making records is better for the record consuming public. Hopefully VMP are making steps now that will keep them around and not go the way of some of their competitors (Qrates, Bandbox, etc). The price change is tough; has me backing away from the table for now, but not closing the door for good.
This insane price increase was the final straw for me. I cancelled my subscription. There's been too much drama over the last couple of months with this company. Dropping rick and country. The way they handled this Ramones release. Screwing over their international subscribers. And this price increase to this insane 54 bucks a month.
@@rustyperry9414 Same boat here! Plus some of us pay tax on top of that, putting it to close to $60 for a single record. Literally paying for the sins of bad mistakes and even worse leadership mistakes. Madness! Thanks for stopping by!
I never bought VMP since I don't do subscriptions on anything where it can be avoided. I have heard some of their releases, sound good but not at the level of Acoustic Sounds, MOFI or some of the other smaller reissue labels like Impex. I like that Modest Mouse album as well and a few of their other albums. I'm not interested in releases beyond the mid 80's for the most part, Im in my 60's. I like some new music but don't go looking for it like I did when I was younger. I'm a vinyl collector and I wonder how many new vinyl buyers will wind up being actual collectors. After all, many of them are used to streaming music at a much lower cost or no cost at all.
As the saying goes - get out while the getting is good! I had been M2M for several months, but quit right before the Ramones mess and before the cost increase. I wish them well, but hope they don’t leave people holding a bag like Bandbox did. Thanks for stopping by!
I was solicited by someone early on in their evolution. The second they mentioned the word subscription I said, No Thanks” Subscriptions are for porn channels! No admittance here 😂 just an analogy. It’s just downright arrogant to require a subscription with no track record in the business, just a concept. I despise companies that want to take control of my money and assume I’m going to approve of everything they do, again with no track record. Great topic. I’ve been able to acquire sealed VMP titles in the wild without the subscription headaches and cornfusion. The fact that VMP could be discussed for two hours tells me I made the right decision to decline 😂. All great points by the panel guy. Bravo guys!
They are in a world of hurt, all we are saying 😎. “Recommendations” at $20 per are much easier to “try” than this 40-50-60 dollar model they are fashioning now. Truth told, if they rebrand as just digging into the Discogs abyss and repressing expensive originals for public consumption + availability it would bode better for the business model they think they run. But what do I know!
@@jimmiescoffee I haven’t heard or seen anyone share a shipping notification yet. You would hope they have them in hand at the warehouse by now, or else they wouldn’t have been incentivizing people to swap out or even swapping them out without approval.

Am I missing something? Did Alex Dickie not declare he was going to be a panelist on this panel?
Declaration and invitation are not mutually exclusive. His fervent promotion of the program on the morning show was appreciated.
