If you look at him like someone trying to keep souls not deserving damnation from passing him he could fit the role of the portal to hell. Tho still it might be a little outside Scott’s tastes, just one thought that came to mind that could possibly link OMC to leviathan.

Oh, wow... I'm not religious, so the St Peter comparison probably never would have occurred to me, but I love that. It works so well, and there is a bittersweet sort of beauty to it. I always took him as some kind of entity actually abstracting the consequences of it all, but the fisher of men angle is so... pretty? Idk how else to put it, it's pretty and it works and I think I've found a new headcanon. The angry soul keeps flinging itself into the red lake again and again, going back to torment Afton and therefor also trapping and tormenting itself. It makes too much sense.
Have you seen the interp of old man consequences as Mike? And he's sitting and fishing with his foxy mask on? I'm not anywhere concrete on it, but it's an interesting one. I like the Henry one all the same. There's also the interpretation that the three figures in front of the TV are the Afton siblings. As for the princess quest omc, the broken English was said to be purposeful in johnfuhnaffs steelwool interview. Maybe a nod to the mimic code like how there were multiple vips (or even vanny)? All the red lakes are interesting too- FNAF world, ucn, curse of dreadbear, ruin basement,
I actually like this idea as a concept but story wise doesn't really make sense, mike was always kinda tormented and wanted to kill his dad like the most throughout the games. so eh i doubt he'd really care if his dad was being tormented in hell and would be kinda hypocritical to tell someone to leave William alone to rot when he did the exact opposite and set him on fire multiple times lol
@@Burrito-b3r no doubt Mike wants will to rot, but I feel like he'd want it to end too. Especially if he helped set up happiest day, and knows about all the souls; cassidy tormenting will and tethering his soul to some kind of existence might be/ have been keeping them all trapped and unable to move on. That can work regardless of if he's omc or not, but, a possible reason
@@monstrdog7031 fair enough and fnaf is full of hypercritical story telling so who knows, I'm also biased due to the fact I'm a sucker for good storytelling in a franchise full of weird storytelling. Just feels odd to me Michael would try to calm down Cassidy who he doesn't really know to stop tormenting his abusive dad, also I always figured Charlie/puppet was the main person who set up the happiest day indirectly.
@Burrito-b3r yeah, as you said, the story's so convoluted with the pieces we have :V. Could be Mike, could be Henry, could be a separate being altogether; only Scott knows lol. Who knows what happened in those ~30 or so years. Charlie's def the big one of setting up happiest day, though could of had help in finding the pieces or something
And from what Scott said about the miscommunication through Steel Wool, it could've been like he said to have a Cassidy reference somewhere and it ended up in the wrong place.
Alternative identity to OMC: Consequences comes from the Latin consequentia, meaning “a succession of events, a logical outcome, or a necessary sequence.” And the first and third specifically allude to the flow of time. OMC speaks to you in a very paternal, mentorly tone, and even resembles a grandfatherly figure when in humanoid form. While somewhat dated, you might refer to your father or grandfather as your “old man”. Putting these together, what if “Old Man Consequences”, was really just Father Time? That could explain why he can simultaneously “turn back time” to fish you out of the infinitely looping void, and how he can trap William Afton in an endless torture room. You can even tie in the crocodile/alligator head to mythos too. The Leviathan (described in the book of Job as a fire-breathing crocodile, is similar to the Midgard Serpent). (Side note, perhaps the fire-breathing Leviation represents the aforementioned lake of fire, the fire Afton burns in, and while the OMC lake is red.) Anyway, the Midgard Serpent, aka Jörmungander, is said to represent fate and destiny. Jörmungander literally consumes time, and it biting its tail (Ouroboros) is said to bring about Ragnarök, the beginning of the end. So, representing Father Time with a crocodilian of serpentine head could evoke the idea of waiting around, passing time, until the end of days… hence the fishing
I always thought Old Man Consequences was an older animatronic or the remaining programming of an older animatronic we haven't seen before that witnessed everything. This is actually common in stories, like the G-man in Half Life. I will admit him appearing as an old king kinda throws a wrench in my theory, but it could just be a form the animatronic subconsciously chose to appear more friendly to the player character instead of the broken mouth bear, crocodile... Thing.
I don't have mush to say about this topic, but another great dive into a topic that usually goes unnoticed by most. In my opinion, you give some of the most comprehensive video essays and theories I've seen. Edit: Hearing you talk about how OMC is a lot like St Peter just makes so much sense. I feel like that's the best fit for a real world connection. But in all honesty, OMC could just be... a guy. No connections to real world events or beliefs. Just a guy who wants a tormented spirit to move on. Maybe he knows what it's like to be that tormented spirit, maybe he was once one himself. And maybe that's why he's where he is now, unable to escape. He wanted to hurt whoever hurt him, but when he wanted to move on, it was too late. Maybe he's trying to help the other spirits from suffering the same fate. I don't know, though. Just some offhanded theories.
“Not that I know God personally-“ Is such a funny line. Like imagine someone casually just like “Yeah me and God are bros we get Brewski’s every friday night”
Things I think. 1. I think it’s possible that Old Man Consequences is the fnaf universes equivalent of the devil or some kind of supernatural celestial being. 2. Old man consequences could possibly be some kind of manifestation of agony himself. 3. Old man consequences could be a video game character who is being reused in princess quest. 4. Old man consequences could be a victim that was the very first but has excepted his fate. 5. Old man consequences is just an old man.
I don't think the famously Christian Scott Cawthon would portray an apparently well-meaning and merciful ("leave the demon to his demons") character as being equivalent to the Devil.
I'd love a video about Charlie's friends from the novel trilogy, or even just Jessica cause she's the best haha. She honestly has a better character arc than the main character.
I was planning on doing one of those! I love Jessica personally. I think it's so cool that they didn't go the whole prissy uppity approach (with the whole fashionable thing) and instead had her be so well-rounded.
I need to find it again, but I swear I recall Scott mentioning that he didn't incorporate his faith into any of the FNAF games. I think it was mentioned because people kept trying to read into the games from that lense because of his past games, so he cleared it up. I'll try to dig it up.
Ammit and Sobek are both crocodile dieties in Egyptian mythology. Sobek is a protector from evil and Ammit specifically consumes the hearts of the evil dead after judgement in the underworld.
I'm not so sure that the lake is meant to be literally red. Just that the entire scene is rendered in a minimalist single-color Atari style for the player/audience
I feel that OMC could be a similar product of *”continued Life after Death”* … In a vein similar to “Glitchtrap” being a parallel to Afton; could OMC be a parallel to Henry?… or even Edwin?…
2:55 girl you did not just drag out the Dashcon ball pit 😂 Have you seen “Family Comes First” by scope_wad? I actually really liked their interpretation of OMC. He’s just kinda some country dude with glowy eyes on his porch, entertaining passersby until their time is done. The lake scenes are incredible.
25:00 I love the smiling friends devil drop! Also the devil can be depicted as a wise soul and comforting for the lost souls. After all, the devil isn't evil. He punishes the wicked, so why would he do so to innocent children. I believe it works.
As someone who loves fnaf from an outside perspective, having only played some of world, pizzeria sim, and security breach, I love your videos. They are really fun to listen to and learn about fnaf and all the crazy stuff.
hi, i'm back to watching these after a couple month break, stayed subbed the whole time, I love your vids but the end of the title of this one caught me off guard
I think OMC is an arbiter of fate and karma. It’s why he doesn’t meddle. He only gets involved when it’s necessary for the _carrying out_ of fate. He’s there to ensure William gets the consequences of his actions. Because every action has a consequence, what goes around comes around, and boy is William going to reap what he’s sown.
7:31 look Im not saying he’s not saying Mike, but doesn’t it sound like one of those things where the person isn’t actually saying something but if you listen close enough it kind of sounds like the word “Mike.” I’m just saying part of me thinks this is background noise that if pitch correctly kind of sounds like “Mike”. Part of me thinks we read too much into it. Not that it matters, just food for thought.
You're very wrong about the ending of the Frights epilogues. The kids in the ballpit DO move on, and the false happy memories are their Happiest Days that are required for them to do so.
@@notrealnamenotatall2476 basically, what the ending of the epilogues tells us is that Happiest Day is an altered memory of the Crying Child's birthday party. On the topic of CC, surprised you never mentioned FNAF World being implied to take place in his mind, what with the map being shaped like a brain and Glitchbear telling you to "leave breadcrumbs for him"
To me, OMC is less a specific figure or person, but rather more just a representation of some spiritual idea/force. When I think about it, he exists to "fish up" restless souls & to get them to rest. He can't force them too, nor can he intervene in major ways. (Also, I imagine his focus would be left to lost souls, explaining why he wouldn't just kill Glitchtrap himself) So basically, he is just a force represening endings, which does line up with his apperances (End of the code, Trying to get the restless souls to end their attempts at revenge, the end of Glitchtrap). Perhaps his role is just to encourage endings, explaining his actions in Princess Quest 2 (Although that's also the one moment I'm less sure of how to place, considering how different it is)?? I haven't updated myself on the FNAF lore in a long time so my apologies if I'm missing some major piece of the puzzle lol EDIT: Also I love your St. Peter theory, & it actually lines up super well... it would be super interesting to see
Hey notreal, something that I’ve been thinking about is that in help wanted we learn about a game development company called Silver Parasol who have a white rabbit mascot on their logo, and were introduced to Vanny: a white rabbit lady, also Fazbear Entertainment have the VANNI Mask unit along with posters of it, so is it possible that before Vanessa or glitchtrap/mimic that Vanny started out as just a simple mascot character much like how Freddy is the mascot for Faz-Ent, and seeing how Vanny has a whole AI Neural Network System named after her would it be possible to say that Vanny could be some kind of AI that possesses Vanessa, that would technically make them 2 separate people despite sharing the same body at the time, Ryetoast also made a theory based on the B7-2 story: basically when a Persona/Consciousness is created in the mind of a already existing person that 2nd consciousness can be removed from said person and still exist all on its own but will most likely try to find its original host body or a new host body, he makes the idea that when Gregory played Princess Quest 3 instead of getting rid of Vanny all it did was separate her from Vanessa’s mind and body and trapped her inside either the VANNI mask or princess quest 4 and now she finds a new host in Cassie. Could you do a video on this.
absolutely excellent video, really gave me a new appreciation for this franchise and its storytelling again which i never expected to feel again, thank you!
I would consoder OMC a gatekeeper or watcher of the damned, who is relatively morally neutral but still known to make strange deals. Think more Hades than satan.
One my favorite things that's been done with Old Man Consequences is in the fan game "The Web of Cogs & Oil" (pretty sure that's a quote from the books lol). Basically, he actually has a physical appearance in that game, but unlike most fan-made OMC models where its just a red gator, he's an abomination of wires that just so happens to resemble his 8-bit form. The idea OMC has a physical manifestation that's thw FNAF equivelent of an eldritch horror is such a cool idea. Its honestly a really awesome fan model, which FNAF has a ton of. But anyways, Old Man Consequences is a cool character. Definitely one of my favs from FNAF World. I never knew he made appearances in the more recent games.
6:24 I don’t if it’s,”eternal eternal.” I’m convinced that William is in a coma with one of the reason is the songs are referring to sleep and and TMIR1280 also backs up my claim.
Imo, Old Man Consequences could probably be a manifestation of something or someone, though who or what is something that probably won't get answered anytime soon unless they find a way to include it in the midst of the new story FNAF is moving towards
2:08 I may have barley played Fnaf world but I personally believe that Fnaf world is from an arcade. The protagonist may be someone like the CC because, of the first lines.
Your videos give me motivation todo my daily tasks while hearing ur theories on who OMQ might be, I personally think he’s a demon since demons can also be deceiving of being nice.
Scott Cawthorne is very religious but said he wasn't including religion in FNAF. However, the compassionate devil thing is very in line with Christianity. He has the silver tongue and lures you in to make deals you shouldn't make. He is also the king of hell, which fits with the wise old red King persona. But again, I think Scott was trying to keep God out of FNAF, so I don't think any of those options are going to be the answer Authors note: So apparently this comment was posted on some random short? I hate UA-cam. Just saw it by accident and yeah. Dude that made the short was probably so confused. Had nothing to do with FNAF. Love this platform.
I’ve always seen OMC and his lake as a sort of purgatory, since in fnaf world when you talk to him you just sit there forever until the game is closed, and despite me not knowing the king in princess quest is OMC, I think it still fits with him biding his time with afton, and maybe the drowning ending is representative of the spirits passing on, finally finding peace, both representing the angel, and the idea of an older person and two kids, possibly being Michael, Emily, and CC
On the "Old Man Consequences is the Devil" theory. If he is the Devil, we could run with the possibility that FNAF's version of the Devil is fair/beign to Innocent or wronged people. I say that, since typically in my experience with older media, the Devil is all about torturing sinners but when it comes to innocent or virtuous souls; either lacks the ability to influence them, no interest in them, or attempts to bring them to sin.
Just t9o clarify as this point was raised in the video, the description of the Leviathan as a "crocodile" is related to the Hebrew source, which uses the word Tanin (modernly used to describe "crocodile") to describe enormous sea monsters. Leviathan was also described as a "snake" and is often described as a sea serpent in literature and imagery as it is a more defining trait of his. So yeah, there is a connection between a crocodile and the Leviathan, but it is loose, and is likely not related to OMC (as you mention, it was a weak possibility, but being a mythology nerd I had to mention it :P). There's also a theory that OMC is not a crocodile, but that due to the low resolution it is confused as such, and his head is in fact a Foxy mask, but that's a whole other can of worms.
My current theory is that OMC is the soul of the first death connected to the company, The first springlock victim. As an employee he would have to be at least a teenager, likely alternative, an adult. Two factors that would explain why this character is an old man. I always found it odd that we haven't had all that much from the first springlock victim, perhaps im missing something. Maybe there never was a first springlock victim apart from William. That said, even as someone who doesnt really identify with any particular side of spirituality, I love the theory of him being Saint Peter. We dont see Saint Peter in a lot of media, despite his importance to the faith. I am super excited to see more of this character in future installments!
Definitely at the top of my "Scott please I wanna knowwwww" list, because he's so unknown and out of nowhere, he's powerful _but_ doesn't do much. It tickled my curiosity. Also the 3 people in front of the screen being Scott and his sons is really sweet :')
I honestly liked the idea of him being some spirit, like I always saw nightmare / nightmare puppet as death. The Angel of death is a thing in mythology. So I wouldn’t be surprised if OMC is some other spirit or Angel or something. I don’t think the specifics are necessarily important. Some form of guardian angel? I just like the idea of some super natural stuff still existing in the series as we move away from possession and souls, it’s nice to have something like nightmare and OMC to add some supernatural to it again. Been growing a bit tired of AI and glitchtrap I like the idea of a passive god. Like not an Abrahamic deity. I know Scott’s christan so it would be weird for him to make a game of another deity. But idk what his plan was and I like the idea. OMC could be a “god”, just not an Abrahamic one. Some passive deity that observes and talks to those that are near death.
Another reason why OMC can't be the devil is because the devil is not hell's warden, but hell's main prisoner. He is the one INSIDE the lake. Not the one fishing in it
on OMC being an older dead adult, I've kinda wondered if the hints of a drowned chained up fred bear from fall fest could have been someone who died in an accident a long time ago, not as a murder curse of dread bear and other side things have hinted to something happening before the murders, and what it if was another employee dying indirectly in a suit, but not due to springlocks or deliberate action
This is brilliant: option 5 But I like this: option 4 Like you said option 5 is probably the one that's going to happen. I mean it's happened before, characters suddenly become lore important because everyone thought they were cool (glances at the shadow animatronics). But option 4 just fits really well, mostly because of how vague it is but it's also a lot cooler.
This is gonna be a long comment cuz I think OMC is neat and I really like the video. I like the idea that OMC is the fnaf universe version of the grim reaper. It would explain his limitations in the story despite being so powerful. Simply collecting the souls of those who died, but perhaps not being able to force them to move on from their death, only encouraging them to do so. Following a set of rules, and only being able to enact his power when allowed. Furthermore, if OMC is being depicted as a crocodile, there are a lot of parallels that can be made from the elements seen in the fnaf games and how the animal is represented. Crocodiles are depicted in a lot of mythologies as sort of grim reaper figures, especially in Egyptian culture; having both the gods/spiritual figures, Sobek and Ammit. Both who are generally tasked with guiding the dead to the afterlife, or judging the dead for their actions and what outcome is in store. Of course there is the association of bodies of water and crocodiles. That being their dwelling and where they hunt their prey - similar to how OMC seemingly fishes for lost souls. Crocodiles are also considered as "living fossils", as they have been around for 250 million years and I like to think that can be attributed to his namesake, as he's seen many forms of life rise and fall. Crocodiles (specifically saltwater crocodiles) also have the strongest bite force of any animal, and in fnaf where bites have a big significance, I think it’s a fun element worth pointing it out. Lastly, the fact that somehow in the middle of Utah, the crazy events of fnaf manage to catch even death’s own attention and OMC just going "The hell they're doing over there?”, is just a really funny concept to me.
A fishing minigame a la Zelda or Animal in a fnaf game is needed for this fella, both for the possibility of heavy lore drops/implications within it, and because fishing minigames are always a great time
Azrael is an archangel of death who is said to be responsible for transporting the souls of the deceased after their deaths. And the artwork used in Wikipedia features him wearing a muddy red/brown cloak with wings to match (although this painting was also used for the archangel Samael page, so I’m not sure which it’s supposed to belong to).
YUMMY VIDEO RFAHAHG I love the idea that old man consequences is a spiritual entity, that has the job to watch the splitting between the spirit world. He only appears in the spiritual/real world combinations
Old man consequences kinda reminds me of Gman... a detached, seemingly exceedingly powerful entity that rarely gets involved, often interrupts you on your quest, and is partial to deals.
I’ve always read Old Man Consequences as a sort of representative of Death, not necessarily Death himself, though that option still remains. He exists to cast judgment on souls, he moves them from place to place, he has the ability to make deals of equal exchange, and most importantly he has the motivation necessary to be involved as he is. William cheated Death, he has inadvertently become a huge problem for the one who lords over souls. If his cannot be reaped, then his death will never truly be complete. What’s worse is how William has effected the souls of those he’s killed, they too exist in a sort of in between state of life and death. Death can’t exactly do a whole lot, in a way he’s kind of like the G-Man from Half-Life, he can’t change the course of events directly, but he can “nudge” some things here and there to bring about the end result he desires. And so he does, ever since FNaF World he has been nudging things ever so slightly, sometimes with words, other times with actions. Oh and I found the whole bit about the Bible being offensive to be rather funny, yeah it is offensive, I’m fairly certain if a demon holds it they burn. It and the cross are wards for evil after all. Hey wait, why didn’t anybody just douse William in Holy Water? Wouldn’t that, I don’t know, burn him? He’s practically a demon at this point, then again he’s still technically human so… I mean it would at least ruin the endoskeleton, maybe even cause it to rust. Hey if William’s endoskeleton began to rust and stopped moving, would he need to use WD-40? Now I’m imagining William stopping at a Home Depot on the way to the Pizza Sim location, and buying some WD-40 for his joints, and realizing he doesn’t have his wallet anymore.
Old man consequences is probably a manifestation of karma, like Jizou. An entity that judges you as you cross the Sanzu river into the great beyond. FNAF, intentionally or not, has a lot of Buddhist symbolism and imagery in the depths of its lore.
Bruh , omc is the one you shoudnt have killed and hes not actually fishing its a represantation that hes keeping afton on the rope and he will never let him go (its that easy there was even a kid called andrew and he had a crocodile mask) hes probably the one you shoudnt have killed and OMC

@@monstrdog7031 honestly atp I don't even think Scott knows wtf is going on in the story 💀
10:08 From the Scott Cawthon 2.0 theory, it might have been a misdirection from Scott and Cassidy was never supposed to be the Cassidy.
And from what Scott said about the miscommunication through Steel Wool, it could've been like he said to have a Cassidy reference somewhere and it ended up in the wrong place.
The idea that he’s Henry is weirdly hilarious in the sense that he doesn’t even have Charlie with him, he’s just fishing by himself.
I was totally up for Leviathan theory, but tbh, the St Peter theory actually fits really well. Good catch.
M8 THIS IS SO, I feel like my eyes were just opened, THANK YOU FOR WRITING THIS COMMENT M8!
As a Christian myself, I think you handled things rather well and respectfully. I also gained new knowledge about Peter, so thanks for that.

"excepted" kinda implies the exact opposite of the "accepted" you probably meant to write lol

As someone who loves fnaf from an outside perspective, having only played some of world, pizzeria sim, and security breach, I love your videos. They are really fun to listen to and learn about fnaf and all the crazy stuff.

11:19 Mimic is mimicing Afton/Agony
I haven't updated myself on the FNAF lore in a long time so my apologies if I'm missing some major piece of the puzzle lol
EDIT: Also I love your St.

OMC has always been a favorite of mine just because of how mysterious he is
6:24 I don’t if it’s,”eternal eternal.” I’m convinced that William is in a coma with one of the reason is the songs are referring to sleep and and TMIR1280 also backs up my claim.

Imo, Old Man Consequences could probably be a manifestation of something or someone, though who or what is something that probably won't get answered anytime soon unless they find a way to include it in the midst of the new story FNAF is moving towards
OMC just wants to chill and play his zelda fishing minigames
This is probably your best video so far, probably even the best fnaf related video out there. Good work Hottie-Nottie. 👏
2:08 I may have barley played Fnaf world but I personally believe that Fnaf world is from an arcade. The protagonist may be someone like the CC because, of the first lines.
Okay, here me out on this idea: Old Man Consequences is Death himself. The Grim Reaper, Thanatos, the Angel of Death, whatever.
But again, I think Scott was trying to keep God out of FNAF, so I don't think any of those options are going to be the answer
Authors note: So apparently this comment was posted on some random short?
I’m loving this channel! I love to fall asleep to these video essays on characters
I like how you feel the need to specify that you haven't met God personally haha
Been growing a bit tired of AI and glitchtrap
I like the idea of a passive god. Like not an Abrahamic deity. I know Scott’s christan so it would be weird for him to make a game of another deity. But idk what his plan was and I like the idea.
OMC could be a “god”, just not an Abrahamic one. Some passive deity that observes and talks to those that are near death.
I see you change the title 😂😂 when I saw I was like huh???😰🤨
Another reason why OMC can't be the devil is because the devil is not hell's warden, but hell's main prisoner. He is the one INSIDE the lake. Not the one fishing in it
Old man consequences grabbing a good old cold beer, a chair and going finishing everyday until he caught afton sounds funny to me
I remember one theory that Henry was OMC
Why would Henry's soul be at Fire Lake when He's still alive-
I always thought he was one of the primordial aspects we see rarely in fnaf. I’ve always seen him as a guard to the gates of hell
on OMC being an older dead adult,
I've kinda wondered if the hints of a drowned chained up fred bear from fall fest could have been someone who died in an accident a long time ago, not as a murder
curse of dread bear and other side things have hinted to something happening before the murders, and what it if was another employee dying indirectly in a suit, but not due to springlocks or deliberate action
This is brilliant: option 5
But I like this: option 4
Like you said option 5 is probably the one that's going to happen.
YUMMY VIDEO RFAHAHG
I love the idea that old man consequences is a spiritual entity, that has the job to watch the splitting between the spirit world.
Scott made a series called “The Jesus Kids Club” I think that kinda makes some of these options plausible
