Quick note, but if my voice sounds a little rougher this video it's because allergies have been hitting me hard. XD Sorry about that, but it should clear up soon!
It’s ok. I’m just almost over some sickness myself. Could be allergies since we live next to a field but I’ve never had to deal with it before. So I can sympathize to a degree. Hope you feel well soon :)
The thing that is truly terrifying is the fact William’s rockin two hallways in his house for some reason. It truly must’ve been a nightmare for the architect to have witnessed that monstrosity.
Calling it a “home” would be pretty generous considering the fact the thing is just a glorified hallway at this point. Plus bro designed a bedroom with two doors T-T. Maybe that’s why Mrs Afton isn’t in the story. She probably couldn’t handle William’s architectural marvel.
@@DepravedSkeleton09 it cooould fit in a dumb headcanon, like, William and the mother were already divorced so each had one side of the house (aka 1 hallway each), with the child being in the shared space. Its stupid, but funny
A theory that i heard and really liked was the idea that Nightmare WAS Nightmare Fredbear, but his illusion disk was becoming faulty, causing the sounds, color, and transparency.
Nightmare is more difficult than Fredbear too. Maybe whoever is operating the nightmares, be it William or someone else, is overworking him. That's why the jumpscare sound is different. The voicebox is frying, he's breaking down.
Maybe that could also explain why Nightmare Fredbear replaces the other Nightmare animatronic? They were always just one animatronic the whole time? Eventually, it is only able to keep up one form (Nightmare Fredbear), and then it wears down even more to the point that it's just Nightmare
I must say that in the wild world of the FNaF fandom, where everyone talk about new theories and "Who is Cassidy" and so forth, I really like your videos as they cover the less discussed parts of the games and focus more on what we know. The Nightmares are a really good example of this, as you mention. In short, good material, keep going
Thank you so much! I will do my best! ^_^ But yeah, I find stuff like this a little more interesting. Largely because there's so many little hidden details to discover!
One thing that should also be considered is that Mike also experienced hallucinations in the first game, and it is heavily implied that we play as him at least in fnaf 3, so its worth considering that he has a history of hallucinating and possible schizophrenia. If it turns out that you play as Michael in fnaf 4, then its possible that it all started as a form of punishment from William, and now has deeply affected his mental state for years to come.
Honestly I'm not convinced we're playing as Mike in fnaf 3 I think it makes more sense for Henry as he tries to burn william it doesn't make much sense for Mike and Henry to both try burning him
I just wanted to say that despite the fact that a lot of people dislike the twist of the Nightmares supposedly being real animatronics, and while I agree that it complicates the story, I still think it's a really neat and unnerving twist. The idea of a characters horrifying night terrors/sleep paralysis actually being a real experiment, with machines or actual people entering the characters home and observing them, is really scary in my opinion, and would have most certainly worked in a less convoluted piece of media
I've theorized that the nightmare animatronics were the game universes versions of the twisted animatronics (based on book descriptions) hell, the endoskeletons of the nightmare animatronics are even springlocks, much like how twisted freddy had spring locks in his endoskeleton
I love the nightmares jumpscare animations, they really feel like they're shaking you violently, and not in the junky way of shaking the background still, but actually animating grhe background to show this. This is especially present in nightmare freddy who lifts you high in the air.
Y'know, the nightmares that speak in UCN talk about no longer being illusions and finally being real. This mean they remember the times they _were_ just illusions, right? Were the nightmare animatronics sentient, or at all capable of thought? If not, then how did they become sentient enough to not only remember they were illusions, but to realize they are now not? I dunno, just something I thought of. Great video, the nightmares are definitely apart of my favorites.
The UCN ones might just be physical copies of what were illusions who know what their counterparts were. I don’t think they actually need to be the originals for UCN.
I mean there's a couple ways you can go about explaining this. One: They're far from the only groups of characters to suddenly gain personalities and memories in UCN, Mr Hippo and the mediocre melodies , even Trash and the Gang spring to mind, it's possible TOYSNHK intentionally gave them more awareness as they are William's own torture devices and their designs partially created by either his victims or his son (not that there's much of a distinction.) Otherwise these memories could be taken from William's mind directly as he personally oversaw the experiments and may have even thought up these personalites for them.
Haven't played the games yet, but the Vengeful Spirit would had to experience said nightmare animatronics. So either Mike is the Vengeful Spirit but using agony to take on a different form or the crying child who is either Dave or Cassidy is seeking revenge for being abused by said father.
@@zenvariety9383 there’s another option, vengeful spirit just read Afton’s mind and saw that he made these weird animatronics to torture his child and thought “oh yeah I’ll put that in my torture thingy”
Man, the next time Scott wants to make another character encyclopedia, he should just hit you up and ask for permission to link your character deep dives haha. Another nice upload! I always imagine your videos as Charlie sitting you down in a badly lit room with a table full of character dossiers, a cork board on the wall with dozen of pins and tangled red strings, all the while she yaps about FNAF lore for almost a full hour. Surprisingly comfy!
DUDE I JUST SAW THE COMMUNITY POST AND WAS LIKE "huh when's est for me-" and IMMEDIATELY SAW THIS VIDEO, love your essays man, gotta love a bit of coherent talk on an incoherent chunk of unexplained FNAF!
That's great timing! XD Also, thank you! One of my goals with the videos are to tackle portions of the story in a way where it doesn't feel overwhelming.
4:36 ah yes. The best Fnaf father. He’s got an ‘ight design where he barely has any renders and I only die by him if I decide to restart the night. His voice line’s definitely carries him and his lore with his children. Overall, he’s the best dad in Fnaf
I've always considered the nightmare animatronics as, well, the hauting nightmares made from the mind of a child who can't wake up, but also a symbolism for William Afton's monstrous nature, manifested as the classic animatronics. Like the Funtime but in a more indirect and even more metaphorical way.
i genuine think that dittophobia was written by scott himself to say for the fandom: there it is, thats the connection from fnaf 4 and sl, can y'll not bother me anymore?
Checklist on nightmares: Nightmare Freddy, Freddles, Nightmare Bonnie, Nightmare Chica, Nightmare Foxy, Nightmare Fredbear, Nightmare, Plushtrap, Nightmarionne, Nightmare Balloon Boy, Nightmare Mangle, Dreadbear, Grimm Foxy, Nightmare Cupcake, Jack-O-Chica, Jack-O-Cupcake, and Jack-O-Bonnie! Check! Check! And check! Great job as always Nottie have a great day 🐻❤️
I was never a big fan of the FNAF 4 Nightmares. To me, they were the predictive stereotypes you would think of when "scary animatronics" come to mind. Nightmarrione, Fredbear and Plushtrap were the exception because Fred made sense, Nightmarrione was a nice evolution and Plushtrap... Well I'm a sucker for anything Springtrap adjacent. This is one of the reasons I don't play 4, other than I'm a timid rabbit when it comes to things that jump out of the dark. Bonnie's kinda neat though.
I think they're really smart designs, they are exaggerated scary versions of the characters but it makes sense from the nightmarish perspective, like foxy contrasted from his cute plushie into the nightmare. I also really like fredbear as a boss battle. The game really nails one often neglected part of horror imo, which is focus, you really have to focus your hearing to understand what's going on and concentrating makes you vulnerable irl, what I've often done in help wanted 1,2 in vr is I can sometimes dissociate a little and feel less affected by the surroundings. fnaf 4 is my favorite in how simple but great it is, the sound design is perfect and the designs are really something
The visual look of the Nightmare animatronics were just trying too hard to be scary. But the gameplay itself of FNaF 4, with the atmosphere being so quiet and requiring you to really focus and listen hard when you're at your doors, only to be destroyed by a jumpscare if you make a wrong move... it provides such perfect tension.
Im of the belief that the plushtrap minigame actually has multiple plushtraps, but they aren't full on animatronics, but more or less part of the illusion, less a fear gas illusion, and more of a magicians illusion (with a hint of fear gas). I don't think plushtrap is spry and quick as he appears In game. i believe that each plushtrap besides one is bolted into their spot, only able to pop out and back in as needed to make it seem like plushtrap is entering or leaving a closet. one plushtrap would be the one in the center, possibly moving on a track or puppeteered from the ceiling, moving in a straight line from chair to child. but im not entirely sure how its hidden when plushtrap is suppose to be in a closet, likely more smoke and mirrors to make him disappear. but its all there to make it seem like one plushtrap is moving around and entering closets to hide when it's just pop out closet bunnys. its convoluted, but what isn't at this point.
A lot of people gloss over the Nightmare animatronics with a common (and decently warranted) criticism for how over-the-top they are. But I don't think people realise just how horrorific they actually are both in design and in their concept.
I wonder if you'll ever talk in the future about the whole "Shadow Freddy=Nightmare/Nightmarionne" thing along with the Hide and Seek story and what you think about it but apart from that great video (Btw a neat thing you can notice of Nightmare in UCN is that he's transparent only in the Fnaf 4 stage but in all of the other he's a simply a black N. Fredbear so i don't think the fact that he's trasparent means he's using an illusion disc especially since there's no case in which someone with an illusion disc on top becomes transparent and black)
Game theory guys, mare rhymes with bear, which means it is Nightbear Fredbear. And the crying child's awake during The NIGHT, which means his name is Fred.
You know how they could really blow people's minds? Have a late 90s style FMV character suddenly show up rarely at random in some future 3D section he's low resolution, and appears to be obviously moving through a green screen, but he is just some random guy acting confused as to where he is, and absolutely terrified when any actual monsters show up, though they ignore him. If you click him, he screams hideously and defragments.
Nightmare Fredbear is ny absolute favorite of the Nightmares especially when he appeared in UCN. Almost all of his voicelines call back to the Fredbear Plush with a retaliatory twist towards William ("Let me put you back together then *take you apart all over again"*). His most prominent voice is something I can descibe as "cool". He also seemingly has a second voice which I don't see many people talk about. His stomach mouth accentuates that he/Nightmare is the most important of the Nightmare Animatronics to the player character of the FNAF 4 Nights which can speak volumes. Also, I particularly love, "We know who our friends are. And you are *NOT* one of them." Not only is the delivery just *chef's kiss* 🤌 but him saying that to *William* says so much.
Idk why but the Nightmares are my favorite Band of the series. Maybe because ever since sister location the rockstars were the only time in the games we got a complete Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, Foxy set. Even when I made OC Animatronics I'd also gave them a Nightmare varient.
@@ElegyEnbyFurry basically there called they're called the Plaza Bots a cast of animatronics belonging to Erie Entertainment. These bots are well and truly alive as the tech used to create them was auctioned Afton Robotics tech that, unbeknownst to anyone, had trace amounts of remnant. Just enough to give them a spark of life. Their nightmare variants are effectively their dark duplicates. Each embodies the fears and insecurities of their respective counter part while also generally being monster versions of the Plaza Bots. Although they aren't physically robots just built in illusions, a security feature that with the flip of a switch will cause the Plaza Bots to slowly being seeing their Nightmare double. Meant to keep them in line by keeping them demoralized and feeling powerless.
I've always thought that Nightmare Freddy didn't just form from the Freddles or got spawned there by him, but he just gets irritated by them and shows up and happens to also kill you while trying to tell them to shut up
Never got a good look at them before, but I rather like how Nightmarione looks. Very Tim Burton-esque. Can easily imagine them chilling out in Halloween Town.
Oh this is a big one and well formatted. The nightmares (excluding stuff like FNAF world) boast easily one of if not the largest roster of animatronics we've seen so I suppose I shouldn't be surprised. I know they don't differ a lot in personality but I'm surprised you didn't mention the effects and mannerisms that make the voices distinct from each other: Nightmare Fredbear has like 4 different voices, Nightmare speaks under his breath, Nightmarrionne stutters a lot etc. The voice lines you picked do convey it somewhat. I'm realising Plushtrap and Nightmare Balloon Boy have the least withering (well besides living licorice tentacles but they're clearly not playing by the rules) for some reason, not sure what's up with that. I mean they're both canon in FNAF 4 if that matters. Speaking of licorice, I can count at least 2 times where the nightmares weirdly end up foreshadowing what their 'real' counterparts do in the future, with Puppet in Your the Band doing the tentacle thing and the Cupcake killing people with its surprisingly sharp teeth. Side note: We really do need to find a better name for Matpat's dream theory (the idea that the first 3 games were all dreams in the mind of the Crying Child) to more easily distinguish it from the theory that FNAF 4 was all in the mind of the Crying Child. The former does assume the latter is true and directly builds upon it but they are leagues away in terms of their credibility, like you mentioned the phantoms and hallucinations in FNAF 3, I'm not even sure what inception style madness Crying Child could have done to pull that off.
Nightmare Fredbear is probably my 2nd favorite animatronic of the entire series, right behind og Mangle. I may think the Nightmare designs feel a bit try-hard but for Fredbear specically? They work PERFECTLY imo. It really feels like the exaggerated nightmare version of a dying childs sheer mental trauma. And I love that. (Having a kinda cool flavor of the Nightmare personality in UCN helps too)
Great video! Particularly, i think that all of this points out to William doing these nightmare experiments to remake what happened to the Crying Child. I think that in the events of Midnight Motorist, Crying Child had contact with some spirit manifested from agony and/or emotional energy. William discovered this and wanted to explore better the power of emotions and agony. So, he started manipulating his son's fear, but it ended up with the Bite of 83'. As he lost his test subject, he built those experiments with hallucinogenic gas to impinge extreme fear on children and manifest emotional energy and agony
The first half was laid out so well I was almost mad you had to ruin it by pointing out the observation cameras. I'd never thought that the Nightmares could be hallucinations from *after* the bite. That's so smart!
1. The Sound-Illusion Disks are described exactly like the appearance of the “Power Module” and “Secondary Power Module” from Funtime Freddy’s level in :SL. *“…there was a quarter-sized metal disk, it was black. As Charlie tilted it in the light, she could see neat, flowing script that read: ‘Afton Robotics, LLC.’ across the disk…”* (Reminder, the S-I Disks are found throughout Henry’s house, all over/in Charlie’s toys, and even Ella. [before Ella was important to the plot…].) 2. The Hallucinogenic/“Nightmare Gas” could be in FNaF:SL… since CBPW (in-game) was closed due to “Gas Leaks”… and there are “oxygen tanks” in the :SL CN. (Dawko made a theory out of them.) Also, Circus Baby is fitted with “Oxygen Tanks” for balloons-but I doubt that’s the intended purpose for those tanks & nozzles; especially after reading *DITTOPHOBIA* 3. The S-I Disks are all around the underground pizzeria under Henry’s house as well. 4. The “Twisted” robots are actually described as looking like “featureless mannequins” with exposed circuitry, etc. which makes them sound kinda like the S.T.A.F.F. Bots-which also make an appearance in *DITTOPHOBIA* … 5. While the gas makes hallucinations, the Sound-Illusion Disks are what give the hallucinations the ability to be scarier and potentially even more dangerous.
As much as *I* wish that they stayed as illusions (pretty much one of my few nitpicks with them), I simply *love* them being in the franchise so much that I pretty much make my own FNAF AU where they are the main leads. 😅
I mean Michael drew Nightmare Fredbear in the survival logbook so it makes sense that it was William experimenting and punishing Michael after 1983. I believe you get a time jumpstart or something of the sort when you beat the Plushtrap mini game so it’s William sadistically making Michael play to have less time getting punished with the Nightmare animatronics. I think personally that the Phantoms are either what’s left of all the animatronics remnant in the Fazbear Frights location or that it’s Michael’s ptsd that he generated through the years. He’d have to get over it mostly by the time Pizzeria Sim comes around if it is ptsd tho. It’s completely possible to believe that hallucination discs or nightmare gas exist in the game’s canon, the games are sci fi as it is so it’s no problem thinking something like that could also exist
Amazing work as always I greatly appreciate these gameplay-less, non-theory, just descriptions of what we have, and what we were given. They're a lovely change of pace, and very well made
My fnaf 4 headcanon is that a schizophrenic child was at a Freddy's location and saw an employee changing into a suit. He then feared that the animatronics eat people, hence the teeth and mouth belly on fredbear. He then began to fear the animatronics, and had a schizophrenic rambling to his older brother, who decided to bully him. The bite never happend, the child wasnt on his medication since the brother hid it and his fear of being eaten by fredbear like the employee he saw and being that close to fredbear's mouth caused a full psychic breakdown ending in the child being hospitalized. Fredbear's got sued somehow and all the bad press caused the shutdown of the company and rebrand into freddy's. Neither child was William's child in this timeline. He held a grudge against all children then, especially against Charlotte since she hated springbonnie for some reason. William then finds out His own son Michael gets diagnosed with a mental illness, and this caused him to snap and go on his missing children spree Kinda goffy and doesnt exactly make sense for the greater story but its simple and i like it. But thats just my own interpretation of it
I was disappointed when the nightmares were no longer hallucinations by the crying child. To me the moment that changed is the moment the crying child as a character stopped being relevant and he slowly faded away. The nightmares were at there best when crying child was the focus
He was probably never the focus, though. The phone guy calls have always played in the dreams since day one. Those calls have nothing to do with CC. It’s always been Michael.
Here's my theory possibly, what if the Nightmares started out as actual nightmares, things that terrorized the crying child in his crushed frontal lobe state. It'd be likely the child wouldn't suffer quietly, probably telling hospital staff and his dad about the horrors, perhaps even with drawings or something. This gave William the dark idea for the fear gas/illusion disks, wanting to recreate his son's experiences. Nightmare himself was the test for this, modeled off of Fredbear as the major one. It ended up as a success, maybe too much of one as Nightmare ended up killing the crying child, either directly or indirectly. From there, the tech was improved on by William all before the springlock screwed him up
That's a thought I had, especially with the whole "getting locked in the backroom" thing. As a little traumatized kid seeing these various animatronics in states of repair, this would probably come in with how withered the actual nightmare designs look.
To be fair: Some kids have horrific nightmares of mascots even if they aren’t meant to be scary. The difference here is that CC/David has an older brother who seems to be the core of this fear, but not the outright cause
@@AFarmerCalledChicken I can confirm that first part lol. I used to have nightmares of the raving rabbids if you know of em. What I was trying to say was that I could imagine that the broken down bits/old parts would definitely have a hand in the trauma, though the older brother's actions were definitely the main cause.
@@AFarmerCalledChicken I was a dumb little kid and my friends at the time came over and we played Rayman Raving Rabbids on the Wii, and I remember I for whatever reason got absolutely horrified by their eyes turning red in the on rails shooter mode. For like, years I had nightmares of that shooter mode. Until sometime later when the TV show of them started airing on I think Nickelodeon where I had gained enough brain cells to realize "oh these guys are just annoying bunny shaped fellas." Now I sort of unironically like them, with the Mario crossover games and Rabbids go home.
Just wanted to note that it was due to your channel that I started reading the FNAF books. I've found myself pleasantly suprised by how much I've enjoyed reading them, so thanks.
I gotta say I really appreciate the long form videos! So many creators are going for the next big “SOLVED” theory so it’s nice taking a step back and looking at different parts of the series. Great video! Hope the allergies clear up soon!
I doubt anything will come of this, but if the Nightmares ARE real, does that mean they could still be out there somewhere intact? Every other band we've faced have been ended in some way: the classics were dismantled by William, the Toys were scrapped, the phantoms seem to only exist to the FNAF3 protag, and the Funtimes became Ennard and were burned in the fire of Pizzaria Simulator, as was Springtrap and the Puppet. If the Nightmares are real in some capacity, even if their appearances are just illusions, I wonder what happened to them.
I much prefer listen to your theory than matpat, the reason being you are calm about it and not just throw every single information at us. You explain it to even the fan that doesn't know anything about the games, understand your point
Oh, thank you so much! 😊I try to treat every video like its own thing, which is why sometimes I have topics overlap, but I think it helps get all the info in one place! ^_^
I love how you used MatPat's "Psychic Friend Fredbear" moniker to describe the Golden Freddy plush. 😂 _He's here, he's there,_ _He's everywhere!_ _Who you gonna call?_ _Psychic Friend Fredbear!_
FINALLY someone brought up the similarities between the Nightmares and The Phantoms! I’ve thought about that ever since I joined the FNaF fandom but I haven’t seen ANYONE bring it up until now! I really loved this video :)
The only bad thing about nightmares is no DSAF appearance. I'm actually kinda considering doing like an SB/4 cross fan game, like how DSAF 3 is a 3/6 cross. Might not though, but plot would probably be to do with the realm after Passing in peace.
Great video! Just wanted to tell you after consistantly binging your content, you have gotten insanely better over time. Your commentary, inflections, and tone make your video gripping to listen to, and it's been awesome seeing you grow.
I feel like the Nightmares designs were trying too hard to be scary. Like, you can do a lot with a nightmare, but these just look straight out of a 2006 deviant art post
I think it works in the context of the game. Disregarding the whole "experiment" theory, if they were the products of the Crying Child''s imagination, they are pretty horrific from the mind of a small child.
@@VitorHugo-jx9fh I see where you’re coming from, I just feel like if they’re supposed be his nightmares, they could have done something else. If they’re supposed to be based off his bullies, why not make them an uncanny mix of animatronic and human features? He sees what’s pretty likely a body in a suit, why not do something like that? Maybe even designs based off rumours about Freddy’s? Which I guess just loops back around to the body thing but you get what I mean. I’m just saying it wouldn’t have killed anyone to be a little more creative than just Freddy but pointy
This is fair, though I think in a way it works with the gameplay; you only ever see them for brief seconds in the dark, whether it's at the end of a dark hallway or when being jump scared while already alert and on edge. I imagine when you're playing especially, you don't necessarily register *all* the scary stuff at once, but it has enough that you will register *something* scary no matter what. But yeah, having ample time to look at the models in full, it does seem like Scott overcompensated in response to the Fnaf3 Springtrap jumpscare.
one thing that'll sit forever in the back of my brain is that one old matpat video where he did the math to see how much force it'd take to actually do the damage mentioned/shown by any of the bites, you wouldn't be able to even hear the prerecorded music over the noise of the mechanical components being powered and run (the skull is not easily damaged)
What if each nightmarione plush is meant to show where a death has happened? ( Sense they could be to resemble death while normal puppet resembles life )
Well Scott was like, "it's getting close to Halloween so instead of ghosts or brand new animatronics or show animatronics that have been reused, how about nightmare versions of the main four including fredbear as well, yeah that would be good"
SManuel made some amazing Nightmare animatronic designs that are more subtle about the horror aspect. But I still genuinely think nightmare Fredbear looks amazing
I always viewed the Nightmares are dark versions of the WITHERED Animatronics. (Since the Halloween skins/Characters were more FNaF2 characters, and FNaF4 showed us Fredbear’s 1983, etc.) [or the old suits BEFORE they were the “Withered” suits…] “Freddy” 1982 -> Withered Freddy 1987 : Nightmare Freddy
It's completely unrelated, and I don't remember where it was said, but I could've sworn I remember the saying: "something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue" being used to describe fnaf 2 and it goes so hard cause it fits so well. Something old being the withereds, something new being the toys, something borrowed being the fact that the toys were made using parts from the withereds, and something blue being Bonnie
Honestly FNAF 4 is underrated it’s got such a creepy charm with the cool nights and nightmares. It’s so different and honestly I hope we get to see something similar to it later on! (May never happen but I’m not getting my hopes up)
while these videos are relatively serious, when you said "something went terribly wrong" i heard the Duck Hunt dog's laugh echo through my mind in reference to Pikmin3
i think an interesting point is the fact that the nightmares appear in vr/inuniverse games since presumably the only people to see these animatronics are michael or cc depending on what you believe. so for the nightmares to appear in help wanted they have to leave the aftons inner circle of nightmare experiences before all of them die meaning either he has to tell others of the nightmares or somehow a game dev magically perfectly 1-1 recreated the dreams of someone they never met or talked to
Hilarious coincidence that my sanshee psychic friend fredbear was delivered during the talk about the day section :V. But ooo never heard the gas theory for fnaf3 (though that actually does make a bit more sense gameplay wise). And a nice refresher on all the nightmares! I wonder if cc and Michael both went through the experiments, though I think we're seeing Michaels dreams
I know they were ment to be "The scariest Animtronics" canonically but they turned out so silly & goofy you just gotta love them (theyre a pain to draw tho)
honestly that goes for most character designs that try too hard to be terrifying. Withered chica is the only one I’ve ever found unsettling, she has an uncanny valley look to her
On the whole "hyperbolic nightmare chambers" thing,my solution is that CC's agony was used to power the nightmares, fusing his soul into them. That's why so much supernatural stuff happens,it's revenge. Whether or not William knew CC would possess the nightmares when he did that is unclear but I don't think he would have been unhappy with the result As for the phantoms, agony beings. Created from William's agony from the springlocks. The fact the phantoms can cause your systems to fail means they have to exist to some extent Rory also becomes 10 years older without the gas. I just realised Nightmarionne would fit in Bendy and the Ink machine
One of the things that struck me was in the famous Dawko x Scott interview, Scott basically said that he was so used to telling the story in a cryptic way that when he was telling Steel Wool the story of Security Breach, he didn't define anything. Burntrap was not supposed to be real. He was supposed to be a phantom you could occasionally in the corner of the screen for a moment, basically an overhanging reminder of who was pulling Vanny's strings.
Oooh, nice work on that last line, sounds ptty nice. Great vid as always, I wasn't aware of the whole Dittophobia plot, it does bring an interesting idea to the table, yeah, maybe those animatronics could've been used on more victims than just the crying child. Though, tbh, the timing of the publication of that story is prolly just a coincidence, maybe they realized just at the end that they haven't made any Fnaf 4-related short story lol
Thank you! I went through a few rewordings of it to get it right. ^_^ Dittophobia is actually pretty interesting. There's a lot I left out, so if you're curious, there's some readings of it on UA-cam! 83
It's weird tho that there was no mention of N. Fredbear in Dittophobia, i think It might be that Afton updated his Nightmare experiment and slapped an illusion disc on top of a random animatronic and then Shadow Freddy swooped in, saw N. Fredbear and created his oc "do not steal" called Nightmare and Nightmarionne is just him wanting to hang out with other puppets at Halloween
The Nightmares are actually the most nostalgic for us. I remember being at a sleepover in sixth grade summer or so, laying on the floor, announcing to our friends a new image dropped, and brightening it. Being so excited it said "Fredbears family diner,". Good times.
i know the Nightmares are supposed to be scary, but they just come off as cool, especially when Nightmare does the monster voice i love so much (more characters in fiction need that im telling you)
Ever since 4 was released, it's always been my favorite out of the mainline games. For me, it breathed new life into a series that was becoming a little on the stale side in my opinion. I hold the Nightmare Animatronics very close to my heart, so it's nice to see you do a deep dive into them! 😁💛
Semi unrelated but Hot take: I think the private room ending in Sister Location should have been the canon one instead of the scooper one. Both endings seems to have the same outcome, and the private room ending is one of in my opinion one of the coolest moments in all of the FNAF games, while the scooper ending is a cutscene
I must say, I think this is my favourite video you've done so far, keep up the good work! Also, when you mentioned that Nightmare Chica ressembles Withered Chica, you reminded me of something weird I thought of years ago. Basically, I think that the Rockstar animatronics' designs could be a callback to the Nightmares, since I find their designs to be more similar than the Withereds: Bonnie's headshape is almost the same, Rockstar Chica keeps the wide mouth, Foxy's headshape is quite similar to his Nightmare version, even Nightmare Freddy (who I always thought looked weird in FNAF 4) seems to look kinda like his Rockstar variant.
I love your videos, they are very fun. I'd like to share some notes and theories I've been thinking about: 1- 40:49 .I think Nightmarionne will be a very important character in the future. It might even coexist narratively in the final moments of The Mimic. I believe FNaF: The Secret of the Mimic will be the start of a trilogy where The Mimic will be the main villain, and Nightmarionne will appear more frequently and get direct mentions. Speaking of him, I think he won’t just play the role of a main villain after The Mimic era ends but will also have a function within the FNaF world. It may sound crazy, but if he isn’t a very powerful agony creature, much stronger than Eleanor, being either a replacement, reuse, or reimagination of her in the games-or if he actually is her after the epilogues-then, perhaps, he’s a unique entity not related to agony but capable of feeding on it, ensuring that everything happens as it should. He might even be a false dark god, an ancient being who takes on a mundane form, and Puppet’s design could be the result of a repressed nightmare from Henry, having had the sensation of being watched by Nightmarionne while he slept. His tentacles, dialogues, and appearances-combined with being the complete opposite of Puppet, who is usually associated with life-add to his strange influence on the Staff Bots in SB and especially in HW2, where they go from normal to being surrounded by apparently supernatural elements. 2- 25:46. Springtrap can create hallucinations. It’s more of a supernatural ability rather than something related to gases or illusion disks. This was confirmed by Scott and reaffirmed in a story from The Fazbear Frights, which is a faithful adaptation with some liberties. It’s not necessarily "the real version of FNaF 3," but I think he only uses this ability in FNaF 3 because it would make it easier to catch you off guard to kill you. In FNaF 6, he doesn’t use it because he’s no longer alone, there are no cameras, and he likely enjoys a more challenging and balanced hunt, instead of an extremely easy one if he used his abilities in FNaF 6's office, which would make it impossible for Mike to survive past night 3 if he did. 3-21:32. I think both narratives about CC are true. On one hand, the Nightmares are nightmares caused by Mike and his friends, but they are amplified by William’s gas. They may be physically real to some extent, more like mannequins on rails than typical animatronics, with the nightmares, his mind, and the gas doing the rest. I don’t know why, but I imagine William visiting CC one last time in the hospital. He asks for a few hours alone with him, takes out a small gas canister hidden in a briefcase, and injects it into the breathing tubes. Now, the boy goes from fighting the Nightmares to Nightmare Fredbear in his mind. The fifth night has begun. William needs him to know the effects on someone dying, and besides, on one of his most controlled test subjects. CC’s mind can’t handle it, and he’s in his final stage-he’s "won" the night. William removes the gas and waits an hour for the effects and traces of the gas to disappear from CC’s system. He tells Mike to come in and say goodbye, then William repeats what he says in the game, leaves, and tells the doctors to disconnect him immediately. 4-5:16. This is more of a joke, but I like to think that the mini Freddys are born through mitosis. That’s why there are three of them in FNaF 4, five or six in U.C.N, and in FNaF: World and the HW1 DLC, they’re an entire horde of them.
13:23 (unsure if my original comment even actually exists so i am going to assume it doesn’t and making a new one) if you listen closely as Fredbear laughs as it gets quite it shifts into sounding like crying like someone is laughing that quickly turns into sobbing or someone crying which sounds like laughter
These Guys are one of Scotts best designs for the nightmares as he didnt hold back on thier sharp teeth and claws and they even look like they are kinda rotting with the holes in thier bodies. Fredbaer himself is gigantic in size and has teeth on his damn stomach for godsakes and Nightmare Marionette looks like a Black Lengthy Skeleton too :)

"Gee Will, how come you get two hallways?"
XD But jokes aside, this definitely feels like a failed home improvement moment.
I think the architect stopped asking questions after they built the giant bunker with murder bots underneath the place.
@@demonicmoronic… that’s generally a pretty good place to stop asking questions at, lest you become PART of said murder bunker lol
I believe nightmare and nightmarionne are the same entity
Also Mike knows what Nightmare Fredbear looks like in the survival logbook, so he must have seen him
michael has a nightmare foxy mask.
Yes it’s scary, but it’s way less compelling when their just more spooky machines vs a child’s dying mind creating a nightmare version of their death
Yeah, as a FNAF twist it's neat. It wouldn't work in something like an Elm Street movie
@@JacobEggleston-ly2itpersonally always saw it as Mike's nightmares
@@JacobEggleston-ly2itoh rest assured, I preferred the simpler times of the game just being No name Afton's nightmares. I just think it's a neat idea
I am just now realizing how tall the Puppet is looking at her appearance in FNAF 3. She as tall as the doorway she is standing near.
“He’s a funky pez dispenser if dreamed up through breathing too many gas fumes”
That was so stupidly funny🤣
UCN does take place in hell. It could be the agony from Michael remaining around his father
Overall, he’s the best dad in Fnaf
I cant believe the top two FNAF fathers are both bears
I've always considered the nightmare animatronics as, well, the hauting nightmares made from the mind of a child who can't wake up, but also a symbolism for William Afton's monstrous nature, manifested as the classic animatronics. Like the Funtime but in a more indirect and even more metaphorical way.

I know this video is about the nightmares, but that intro reminded me how much we should've had Phantom Bonnie.
12:32 I commend your restraint for not making the extremely obvious Markiplier "WAS THAT THE BITE OF '87" joke.
Markiplier isn't even funny
Your voice is so nice I accidentally fell asleep watching like 3 videos while I was stressed out. 10/10
Oh, that's wonderful! 8D I'm so glad to help relax you! ^_^
I wonder if you'll ever talk in the future about the whole "Shadow Freddy=Nightmare/Nightmarionne" thing along with the Hide and Seek story and what you think about it but apart from that great video
(Btw a neat thing you can notice of Nightmare in UCN is that he's transparent only in the Fnaf 4 stage but in all of the other he's a simply a black N.

Maybe the real nightmare was the friends we made along the way.

(Having a kinda cool flavor of the Nightmare personality in UCN helps too)
I love how long and detailed each single one of your videos are! It’s definitely impressive with how consistent you are with videos!
Thank you so much! 8D
Thank you! 8D And it is a shame. Both setups are so intriguing that I almost wish there was a way both could've existed at once, y'know?
1. The Sound-Illusion Disks are described exactly like the appearance of the “Power Module” and “Secondary Power Module” from Funtime Freddy’s level in :SL.
*“…there was a quarter-sized metal disk, it was black. As Charlie tilted it in the light, she could see neat, flowing script that read: ‘Afton Robotics, LLC.’ across the disk…”*
(Reminder, the S-I Disks are found throughout Henry’s house, all over/in Charlie’s toys, and even Ella. [before Ella was important to the plot…].)
2. The Hallucinogenic/“Nightmare Gas” could be in FNaF:SL… since CBPW (in-game) was closed due to “Gas Leaks”… and there are “oxygen tanks” in the :SL CN. (Dawko made a theory out of them.)
Also, Circus Baby is fitted with “Oxygen Tanks” for balloons-but I doubt that’s the intended purpose for those tanks & nozzles; especially after reading *DITTOPHOBIA*
3. The S-I Disks are all around the underground pizzeria under Henry’s house as well.
4. The “Twisted” robots are actually described as looking like “featureless mannequins” with exposed circuitry, etc. which makes them sound kinda like the S.T.A.F.F. Bots-which also make an appearance in *DITTOPHOBIA* …
Amazing work as always
I greatly appreciate these gameplay-less, non-theory, just descriptions of what we have, and what we were given.
William then finds out His own son Michael gets diagnosed with a mental illness, and this caused him to snap and go on his missing children spree
Kinda goffy and doesnt exactly make sense for the greater story but its simple and i like it.
From there, the tech was improved on by William all before the springlock screwed him up
I do wonder what CC saw that made him see the nightmares as, well the nightmares, and that's considering if we even play as him during the nights.
@@corbinjones3086 man I used to love those commercials. The rabbids were just our generations minions, except funnier.
@@AFarmerCalledChicken I was a dumb little kid and my friends at the time came over and we played Rayman Raving Rabbids on the Wii, and I remember I for whatever reason got absolutely horrified by their eyes turning red in the on rails shooter mode. Until sometime later when the TV show of them started airing on I think Nickelodeon where I had gained enough brain cells to realize "oh these guys are just annoying bunny shaped fellas." Now I sort of unironically like them, with the Mario crossover games and Rabbids go home.
In my headcanon, these guys play heavy metal every saturday.

atleast nightmare chica and bonnie are real, real enough to get their recolours in fnaf ar instead of them
I doubt anything will come of this, but if the Nightmares ARE real, does that mean they could still be out there somewhere intact? Every other band we've faced have been ended in some way: the classics were dismantled by William, the Toys were scrapped, the phantoms seem to only exist to the FNAF3 protag, and the Funtimes became Ennard and were burned in the fire of Pizzaria Simulator, as was Springtrap and the Puppet. If the Nightmares are real in some capacity, even if their appearances are just illusions, I wonder what happened to them.

Trying too hard to be scary🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓
This is fair, though I think in a way it works with the gameplay; you only ever see them for brief seconds in the dark, whether it's at the end of a dark hallway or when being jump scared while already alert and on edge. I imagine when you're playing especially, you don't necessarily register *all* the scary stuff at once, but it has enough that you will register *something* scary no matter what.
But yeah, having ample time to look at the models in full, it does seem like Scott overcompensated in response to the Fnaf3 Springtrap jumpscare.
It definitely does but in VR their terrifying(vhs especially)
one thing that'll sit forever in the back of my brain is that one old matpat video where he did the math to see how much force it'd take to actually do the damage mentioned/shown by any of the bites, you wouldn't be able to even hear the prerecorded music over the noise of the mechanical components being powered and run (the skull is not easily damaged)
What if each nightmarione plush is meant to show where a death has happened? ( Sense they could be to resemble death while normal puppet resembles life )
Well Scott was like, "it's getting close to Halloween so instead of ghosts or brand new animatronics or show animatronics that have been reused, how about nightmare versions of the main four including fredbear as well, yeah that would be good"
12:31 correction: the suit didn't "go off". The head clearly moves up and down using pistons, not springlocks, so it was working as intended
I kinda used the wrong wording there. XD
SManuel made some amazing Nightmare animatronic designs that are more subtle about the horror aspect. But I still genuinely think nightmare Fredbear looks amazing
I always viewed the Nightmares are dark versions of the WITHERED Animatronics.
(Since the Halloween skins/Characters were more FNaF2 characters, and FNaF4 showed us Fredbear’s 1983, etc.)
[or the old suits BEFORE they were the “Withered” suits…]
“Freddy” 1982 -> Withered Freddy 1987 : Nightmare Freddy
12:32 just pointing out that the suit did not go off, fredbears mouth just closed
Gotta love a longer video of yours!! Another banger
21:24 was just fridge horror personified.
NEVER in a million years I would have imagined you name dropping 123 SMS. That franchise is deader than Tattletail
These are some of my favorites not because they're so scary but I just think they look kind of awesome
Withered chica is the only one I’ve ever found unsettling, she has an uncanny valley look to her
Wonderful 43 minute video that I have definitely watched the entirety of! Seriously though, I've been refreshing for 30 minutes.
On the whole "hyperbolic nightmare chambers" thing,my solution is that CC's agony was used to power the nightmares, fusing his soul into them. That's why so much supernatural stuff happens,it's revenge. Whether or not William knew CC would possess the nightmares when he did that is unclear but I don't think he would have been unhappy with the result
As for the phantoms, agony beings. Created from William's agony from the springlocks. The fact the phantoms can cause your systems to fail means they have to exist to some extent
Rory also becomes 10 years older without the gas.
If this was true and not made up it would make the fandom go crazy
"He's a funky PEZ dispenser dreamed up after breathing too many gas fumes" That is a LINE. Oh that is excellent hahaha
Dittophobia is actually pretty interesting. There's a lot I left out, so if you're curious, there's some readings of it on UA-cam! 83
@@notrealnamenotatall2476 thanks for the advice, i shall check that out!
just how i think the funtimes actually killed a lot of children. After all molten freddy has the biggest amount of remnant
The initial explanation of what the Nightmares are was quite amazing actually, but then came Nightmare and illusion disks.
19:24 Nah, the crying child is really in the Truman show 💀
I must say, I think this is my favourite video you've done so far, keep up the good work!
Fun Fact: in Special Delivery, Jack-O-Chica has the most voice lines out of every animatronic in the game by far!
3:36 eh, I believe that Fnaf 4 protagonist is and was always Micheal. (One of the main reason is the phone call)
Going full Matt pat here . If the Nughtmare fred bear had black buttons, why doesn’t Fred bear have buttons ?
He might've! We know Spring Bonnie/Springtrap had at least one. So maybe he did too?
@@notrealnamenotatall2476imma start counting toes soon but that makes sense
Nughtmare 🤔🤔🤔 is that a secret character 😱😱😱
I love your videos, they are very fun. I'd like to share some notes and theories I've been thinking about:
1- 40:49 .I think Nightmarionne will be a very important character in the future.
