I like villains. Especially if done right.
Sun/Moon is basically Two-Face as an animatronic daycare attendant, ready to pass judgement on you at the slightest provocation.
Mimic is a villain I tried to like, but since his lore is all over the place and somewhat inconsistent (on top of confusing motivations in the present day), I can just say I’m indifferent about him. That can change if he’s logically expanded on.
It’s so weird how Vanny was basically a mashup of both Baby and William himself, but (thanks to the censors) hasn’t made much impact on the overall story beyond just BEING THERE. Honestly all the story team needs to do to make me CONSIDER liking her is to just have her DO SOMETHING!

I agree cause he’s literally a debug character and I LOVE debug characters
A debug character or an anti-cheat character is a character in, usually, a 3D game, when chasing the player, can go out out bounds or trigger a game over when the player goes too far ahead in the game’s storyline.
    For example:
When flying out of the map, if Moon is chasing you, he can literally follow you everywhere and even pull you out of Freddy’s chest, especially if you’re not meant to have Freddy at that part of the game. (If done right, you are meant to have Freddy though all of Moon’s chase sequences except for inside the daycare and you aren’t meant to be in Freddy’s belly during parts & service)
And an example of the game over triggers: when you go into Chica’s room earlier than you’re supposed to and you open the box to get the party pass, Moon instantly jumpscares you with no chance to escape.
If the game is played correctly, the party pass can normally be acquired when you’re prompted by Freddy after deciding if you want to decommission Monty or Chica first, Moon will appear, but you will be given time to get to the recharge station.
You think you’ve gotten away, but you haven’t. In the dark void of outside the map, you can hear him. Right behind you: “Bad children must be found. Bad children must be punished.”
This may or may not have been intentional to have Moon have the ability to clip out of the map, but it’s hecking awesome, when other games just crash or throw a paddy when you use cheats, really adds to the horror.
Sun is cool but Moon is the best character in the entire FnaF franchise

I’m so mad at how they handled Mimic. Mimic could have been great. It could have been legitimately terrifying. Instead it just… happens to be in the Pizzaplex for seemingly no reason and was VERY obvious that it was not Gregory.
And it baffles me that the games were censored. *They’re horror games.*
Also shoutout to Kellen Goff for doing a PHENOMENAL job with the Daycare Attendant (and literally every character he voices).

In the tales from the pizzaplex book series, the mimic is confirmed to be shipped with the glamrocks in a delivery seemingly hijacked by Glitchtrap to contain the mimic (rabbit ears). The Mimic itself was likely made in the early 80s or late 70s by an engineer made by Edwin Murray, made to take care of his son (noticeably the Mimic had differences:a ribcage, doll like eyes,no legs, and pincer like hands). The son in question dies in a car accident and Edwin takes his anger out of the mimic, infecting it with his agony, causing it to act wildly aggressive.

I think the issue is that FNAF creatives, whether it is Scott or Steel Wool, want their main villain to be this unimaginable threat too smart for anyone to capture. Too charismatic or unassuming for anyone to be suspicious of. Too powerful to be front and center. That, on top of wanting to keep the formula of fending off against actual animatronics that match the setting regulates them to background until the climax.
Pointing out Sun and Moon’s overall presence as to why they are beloved makes total sense.

When talking about the Daycare Attendant's abilities, you forgot about one thing.
They can't just climb. They straight up *FLY.* Moon swims through the air in SB during their appearances, thanks to a little clip on their back that connects to the ceiling. In Ruin, we see Sun use this to fly up onto the play structures, and then Eclipse uses it to gracefully glide down to the door while carrying Cassie.
Imagine getting chased by a moon clown maniac swimming through the air, who is small and flexible enough to squeeze through any gaps a child could fit through, agile enough to maneuver around any obstacles, and strong enough to move any obstacles they can't avoid.
Also of note. According to a cut Dreadunit line, Moon is ALSO specialized as a *retrieval unit for malfunctioning animatronics,* with "accidental human retrieval" being pointed out as possibly fatal. If this line is still canon, Moon following this programming has killed enough people for Fazbear Entertainment to want to warn people about it, as opposed to their standard "Cover it up" mentality.

What is annoying with William is that they could've had the aspects of him that they wanted, had they simply structured his story in a different manner(well, that and actually done story telling).
Example (one that leans fully into the William that is irredeemably bad) with heavy simplification-
William is a killer because he enjoys it, but first discovered that joy thanks to his son's death(or at least, assumed son) which caused a darkness in him to start awakening. When he killed his first victim(whoever it is), that just cemented in him that he wanted to keep doing it, to get the thrill again.
Thing is, he discovered that his victims weren't as dead as they should be. Their bodies had long rotten away, but their souls were still out there. He becomes obsessed trying to understand it, both to ensure they couldn't get their revenge, but also to see if he could use it. This results in Funtimes, and the death of his daughter. Which comes the most important discovery for him, control over the robot is most evident when the body dies in the animatronic.
Later on in life, possibly/probably as he was leaving his prime, he decides to make the leap. Thing is, he needs to ensure that they won't be able to retaliate. So he disassembles the animatronics, unknowingly unleashing their souls. However, as he has the suit he can scare them off, but accidentally kills himself with it. He already planned to, but perhaps somewhere else, somewhere where he wouldn't have been forgotten.
Things occur(focusing on William), he runs into Elizabeth, now baby, and manipulates her into thinking that he didn't mean for her to die. That it is thanks to Michael being such a rotten son and brother that they're all in this situation. To explain why she still attacks you when William is right there(and is the actual cause of her death). He deliberately 'falls for the trap' because after Fazbear frights, he realized Michael had become immortal as well, and knew that as long as Michael was undead he would always have someone chasing after him. He probably expected to find a way to escape before the fire but after Michael was dead. He fails and his actual soul goes... somewhere. Purgatory or hell, you're choice.
The thing is, the remnant being so ingrained on the servos(or wherever the data cam from) managed to make an imprint of his mind on it. This then becomes Glitchtrap, who wants to continue what he/William was doing before. Only issue is, he is now trapped in a digital prison. He needs a way out, and thus falls back on his most reliable skill, manipulation with it now being upgraded to possession. He uses the naive techs to experiment on getting out, deciding the best way to control them is to lock them in their own minds with minimal freedom.
He has Vanny use her skills to get him into the Fazbear systems, to give him direct access to all of the animatronics. He now can kill without anyone ever knowing it was him. He is now free to kill as much as he wants, whenever he wants, and no one would ever know it was William Afton. As anyone who knew are already long gone, and anyone who might be in on the secret quite literally are unable to betray him.
There, a coherent story that would've let them have him be a killer for the sake of a killer while also being a mad scientist. With the mad scientist part simply being there to allow him to continue on his killings.

From sun diving like 10 feet into the air into what was probably about a 3-foot tall ball pit and yet jumping right back out unscathed to pick up gregory, to moon jumping away once you turn the lights off to chase you, almost like he’s playing hide-and-seek with gregory, to the reveal of eclipse in ruin. They’re probably some of my favorite animatronics in the fnaf series in a whole with their unique gimmick, i think it would be really cool to see moon as the main villain of a freddy’s game, even if it might be small
Maybe a small game where you take on the role of a child at the daycare, and it could include the cut gimmick of the daycare switching from day to night, during the day sections you can hang out with sun but in the night sections you have to hide from moon, maybe you also have the task of keeping some of the other animatronics out during the day sections for whatever reason, the others going away during the night sections, but you have to avoid sun dragging you away from the doors and such.
Idk, i think it would be a fun concept but I mainly just want to see them utilized more

One thing I think also helps make the Daycare Attendant a more compelling villain (or at least antagonist) is the thematic elements present in the franchise. See, the first few games were simultaneously "grounded" and "spiritual", for lack of a better description. The killer was a dude-an evidently smart dude, but still just a dude. Common themes and motifs were of things like "possession", "vengeance", "luring things away", etc. The mechanics of the universe solely lied in two areas: robotics and spirits, and even when the series got weirder, those rules never really changed much.
Now, in this new era, the new themes seem to be things like split personalities, mimicking and impersonation, and, of course, artificial intelligence. A two-faced robot, both "too human to be a robot, and too robotic to be a human" like you said, makes for a very compelling character that reflects the current themes modern FNAF seems to be playing with right now.
While I'm not entirely sure of the Daycare Attendant being the outright main villain for this current arc, I do think that as he stands, he's an excellently-done antagonist. (That, and I also agree with you that I wouldn't trust Steel Wool to not make him related to Afton in some way or another if they did try and make him a villain).
    Fantastic video, by the way!

The main problem with villian in FNaF is that, after SL, with animatronics gaining personality and character eleveting themself to the BIG bad guy by being human-like, with SB and everyone having a personality, it feels necessary to have the main villian hold some type of position to try to make them hold the confront.
And the easy way is just continuing their legacy.
It isn't bad perse, but it's used so poorly.
The daycare work as (obviusly it didn't any major cut) is build as an idea with no competition. It worked as it was meant to be, not wanted to replace.
The only bad thing about him becoming a villian is that it doesn't have a good goal, and don't have the vibe to be the main villian.
But having him to be biggest small bad in the games, absolutely.

    • @drawingdragon
      @drawingdragon 5 місяців тому +8

I actually agree. William didn't have to be shown doing much outright to be the "big bad" because he was the ONLY bad. The animatronics are just animatronics - they're haunted by scared and angry spirits, but they aren't villains.
Now that the animatronics are basically people themselves, with motivations and backstories, a Big Bad has to stand out in some way.
I also don't think Moon would fit well as the "main villain" just because he's suited so well to chaos and Impulse. Sure Vanny/Glitchtrap could USE him for their own goals, but left to his own devices he doesn't really have a motivation beyond immediate urges of violence or Mischief. I would never turn the opportunity down to see DCA again and again, but he works much better as a loose canon than a mastermind.
I think the "big bad" should be human, that's just how I feel about it.

I am SO HERE for EVERYTHING IN THIS VIDEO--
The barely-veiled distaste for the nonsense that is the books, the vicious tear-apart of the Mimic and Vanny, the sheer I-dont-give-a-rip in the delivery of "I'm not getting into the Mimic/Afton Glitchtrap discussion because I dont care," the excuse to rave about how great the DCA is again.
    Chef's kiss, I feel SO SEEN. 🤌 ✨️
I liked Afton just fine when they added the incentives of eternal life and mad science, etc, just because I like a villain having SOME motivation. But I stay clear of the books like a radiation hazard, so I didn't realize that this issue of rewriting villain motivations on a whim had extended backwards that long.
I loved Circus Baby AS the villain for Sister Location SPECIFICALLY. I love Sister Location so much because it's such a self-contained story that does what it needs to do and then ends in a scary way. The reveal of Ennard, the concept of Ennard, is INCREDIBLE, and they stayed just as long as they needed to. Trying to set Baby up in the games like they did with the books was just doomed to fail; she wasn't written that way. She had a clear backstory, and one clear motivation - to get out of the bunker. After that, they genuinely didn't know what to do with her - I never noticed how her sudden change in motivation in Pizzeria Sim ONCE AGAIN refuses to let Afton go as "big bad," it is exactly the root cause of the Vanny issue! Baby suddenly being a minion of his without provocation always bothered me.
I'm not even going to talk about Mimic beyond saying I hate him. He's lazy. He's the cheap filler in every crack in the narrative, and since he's EVERYTHING, then he can't be anything meaningful. If Mimic is where the series is going, theorizing is over because it's all just "mimic" so where's the mystery? He doesn't even have a motivation because it's just a machine.
Vanny is the biggest disappointment to me though, just because her set up was SO perfect. It was RIGHT THERE and they flubbed it so hard. They had 1. An explanation for how the original villain was able to influence someone else (UCN, Vengeful Spirit not letting Afton go to the afterlife and keeping his consciousness around) 2. A limitation that required him to pass on the spotlight to a NEW villain while being present (Being reduced to a code/spirit and needing a mind to control) 3. A character with similar appeal as the original villain while still being her own thing (Another mascot rabbit killer, but this time a more tragic and unwilling participant with an added intrigue of a split personality), it was ALL RIGHT THERE.
And then not only did they do nothing with her IN her debut game, they basically redeemed her outright. There was no slow burn over several games to let us SEE her as a threat - yet they're trying to keep bringing her up anyway? There's such a lack of commitment - they wanted her to be the big bad, but not TOO bad or they couldn't redeem her, a servant of Afton who's doing his work, but not TOO much work or else the audience will forget he's the mastermind! And in the end we ended up with nothing.
I think the reason Sun and Moon work SO WELL is because they are what Vanny and Vanessa should have been. He's obviously a mirror to her, just a more minor antagonist in the narrative. He's an actual person who desires to do good, he's a victim of this evil but still indulges in it, his sympathetic nature doesn't somehow erase the genuine threat he poses to us, we WANT to redeem him but we also revel in the fear of him and want to see more.
THAT could have been Vanny. Of the many mistakes made with Vanny, I think the biggest was in trying to keep things hidden. Yes, sometimes less is more, and you don't need to explicitly show us kids dying - I'm just asking to be shown *something.* Instead of this really weird mystery of "ohh who IS Vanny??" just show us right out of the gate that she IS Vanessa. We all knew Sun was Moon since he was first teased; that didn't make Moon less terrifying when he showed up. If anything, the realization that something so terrible could come out of a "nice" character was MORE scary.
They should have showed us Vanessa as a human being. As someone struggling, fearful, desiring to do the right thing, a victim but one with underlying evil (the closest we got was her audio in the Retro CDs, which I actually enjoyed.) Show her become Vanny. Show us that Vanny IS dangerous, she HAS killed and WILL kill. Show us that we can sympathize with her while still being afraid. Thats what I wish they had done, and why I think DCA was an instant hit.
I keep coming back to the story of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (it's a great book okay, and who both Vanny and Moon are inspired by as archetypes). The true horror and appeal of the novel is that a "good" person is capable of evil. That ANY of us are capable of evil. That's the terror behind the weird guy staring at the library vs. the generic horror murder AI. Show us a "normal" person, then show us how evil a normal person can be.
Really the only disagreement I have is the idea that Moon would work as a "big bad." My issue isn't at all with him being too evil or unlikable, (as I've explained thats partially what makes me love him), it's more that he lacks motivation to be a repeat villain. He works very well as an antagonist, but he does best when he's more chaotic than evil in my opinion. He strikes me as the loose canon that wouldn't have any real incentive besides his own immediate impulses, not if someone like Vanny or Glitchtrap wasn't directing his energy towards a goal.
I will never complain about seeing more of him, even as an unapologetically evil villain, but with the current record of writing, I'm afraid what makes him so impactful would be watered down if he was promoted to Big Badᵀᴹ

The Mimic, in my opinion, is a good, possibly better way to do Scrap Baby's Just Wanna Make Daddy Proud shtick.
The way the Mimic was explained to me was as a companion for a very young child, around 3 or 4, given to her by her overworked father. The child died in a tragic car accident, and when the mimic kept acting like her, the father, in his grief, visciously lashed out and beat it. That's how the Mimic became violent.
That's what always stuck out to me. The roiling emotions he would've been feeling seeing this robot try to play with him, as if mocking him, look what you've lost because you were too busy for her. The relief at having something to vent his frustrations on. The horror at realizing what he's taught it to do.
And from the Mimic's perspective- If we consider it to start off as a very simple AI or mentally a similar age as the child- It keeps trying again and again to find the right answer that'll get it attention. Becoming violent. Cowering in fear. Running away. Each time a new person interacts with it, some sympathetic, some not, it learns a new reaction, then as time goes on it probably tries mixing and matching reactions.
From an outside perspective it just seems to change motivations in an instant, but internally, it just wants to understand and play with someone. It just wants to learn. Would it trial-and-error it's way towards more positive interactions with people? Possibly, if it got further away from the people it hurt shortly after the child's death.
But how would you trust a thing like this? Would knowing that it's programmed to mimic everything make people more or less trustful of it? Are they right to feel that way, or does it put them in more danger?
I think the aspect of I just want to make father proud is more believable and more tragic given the child's younger age than Elizabeth as Scrap Baby.

Thanks for making me reevaluate! On that thing about the mimic fans being ravenous- you aren’t wrong, but it depends on the platform. On Reddit GlitchMimic is the most commonly accepted theory, but UA-cam and Twit-I mean x- can be pretty ferocious. I remember that people always dogged on the Mimicgames believers, which sparked a feeling of hostility once the Mimic actually showed up- and then (especially on Reddit) people started foaming at the mouths over Afton being Glitchtrap 😞. Honestly what happens when a writer isn’t explicit about characters to the point it’s harming them. If Glitchtrap really is dead, we spent all our time with them trying to figure out what they were.

One thing I feel Moon has over Vanny and Mimic is the fact that he always seems to KNOW much more than you'd expect. He is VERY smart, not much you can do can fool or get past him. He'll always find you in the daycare, even OUT the daycare, the scariest thing is the fact that if he is out, he WILL find you, no matter where you go, he'll track you down. Hide in Freddy? He KNOWS you're there and he even knows about you hiding in the charge ports. He looks and WAVES at you, meaning he could've easily just grabbed you, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING was stopping him. Freddy was on the ground, he deliberately prioritized getting Freddy to the robo repair center rather than getting Gregory. In help wanted 2, dude even appears in sections that had nothing to do with him, like Bonnie bowl. And his Jack o moon(personally, I like "Harvest Moon" better) form hounds you on the true ending, and HE is the crane Vanny uses, meaning that Moon is involved in putting down Glitchtrap. It's to the point where you can't help but wonder exactly how much he is aware of. After all, he is one of the few who ALSO directly questions the protags purpose:
"What makes YOU so *Special* ?"

Not having an animatronic as the headlining villian is a missed opportunity. Imagine if one of the animatrions was sentient enough that it started worshipping it's creator, afton.
So it starts copycat killing, trying to replicate him. The family in the sticky note room could have been like it's sick alter to him, wanting to have been seen as a part of his family.

I'll be honest, using The Daycare Attendant as the new villain would be pretty cool. Strangely enough, him being a successor to Mimic is quite fitting as he's pretty strong, but much, MUCH more dangerous.
"You took out the predecessor, but you can only hold off his successor for so long."
Honestly, if I could make the other villains cooler, here's what I would do. I personally can't think of anything for Vanny, but to summarise the others:
    - The Blob, a monument to all of Freddy's sins, haunted by many unfortunate victims, of Vanny and Malhare. It's a hivemind of anger and confusion, lashing out at those who step in it's turf.... which Charlie would find out the hard way.
(It rips off The Puppet's mask, leaving them faceless. Hence why said mask is not possessed when stuck on The Blob. She managed to escape before anything worse could befall.)
    - Mimic, a mime animatronic that follows similar rules to the toys in FNaF 2.. but ramped up a tad bit. Nice to the kids, understandably DESPISES the adults for their harsh treatment of the animatronics.
    - Nightmarionne, The Slenderman of Five Nights at Freddy's. Quite mysterious, but it follows Freddy's wherever the franchise goes, like a CURSE.
Edit: Lefty could've also been a villain if The Puppet was in the newer games. Imagine if this old, burnt animatronic was hunting her down during the events of Special Delivery.
The end of the game could've had her finally destroy it, and giving the DCI kids their happiest day.

This is dangerous especially if there are dark parts of a game where you need to rely on Sun to survive. Posted this before watching the video.

Turning the DA into a villain would be a great direction to go in. They start out as a side character, a smaller boss who is imo, the scariest part of SB. I usually just watch gameplay so i have a pretty big horror buff but watching the daycare section and seeing moon sneak up on you at 5:50am or whenever it is was genuinely heart racing stuff for me.
Side character, already different from willy a. Im going to politely ignore vanny controlling Moon in HW2 because i dont really care for yet ANOTHER possession arc. I think if Moon was maybe just corrupted or set wrong or way too into theatre like how SB originally implied, it would make for a great villain. We dont need more sympathy points for possession. I think it makes for beautiful character design for sun to be struggling with this other half while also perhaps not even realizing his own psychosis. I loved sun and moon already but I'd love to see them take on a bigger role as they are now. No rabbits, no possession, no "i always come back"

As someone who thinks that game Mimic was a retcon, if Mimic really was planned to replace William as the new main villain since HW1, then it feels like Steel Wool panicked seeing the(understandable) backlash to Burntrap and instead of just building up to it after a few more games, they just dumped Mimic into Ruin. Like why aren't there any messages in SB that allude to it's existence? Or even a scene where it hacks into Gregory's Fazwatch and mimics Freddy trying to lure Gregory to it(since we know it can hack into things)? It honestly feels like Mimic was originally meant to be a book only villain(kind of like Stitchwraith from the Fazbear Frights books series), but again Steel Wool painicked because fans hated Burntrap and just threw Mimic into the games.

Your description of Moon and Sun as an employee in a child friendly mascot costume who’s constantly around kids, who can snap at any time, really put into perspective how creepy they are. It also helps with the whole “the true villain is Fazbear Entertainment/capitalism” vibes FNAF has going for it.
Like… I’m not a writer but I tried brainstorming some ideas for potential villains, and while it’s nowhere near as good as how you described a potential Daycare Attendant villain, I always thought that maybe some kind of “hero complex” villain would’ve been interesting.
An employee or fan of the Fazbear franchise who had been wronged by the company in some way, or heard about the previous things that happened in the company and decided to put it upon themselves to serve justice, or make sure it never happens again. Only… they’re going about it all wrong, hacking and punishing animatronics and staff alike in a warped attempt at making up for things that have long since passed. They think themselves the hero, and you, the player, are the villain of their story.
This could also spawn plenty of sub villains. Animatronics who were reprogrammed and they now suffer from horrific identity issues, or animatronics who were punished for reasons they don’t fully understand. The fact that animatronics are so human now but also still robots opens the case for a lot of interesting things.

Okay, so, the fnaf villains really did have a lot of potential. Personally, well actually most of us wish they dropped afton but I really like the idea of Afton as a "genesis point". Like, this one serial killer from the 80s started a whole bunch of shit even after he was turned into old unjolly green.
So, like, have afton, have him be afton, have him die in the fnaf 3 fire. Then, have a new character (maybe a grieving parent) be the mad scientist. Have this person make the funtimes and experiment with remnant and all that jazz after they see "yo these robots actin funky". There, you can have your genuinely scary "grounded" slasher and your evil mad scientist lich but seperated a bit. Then have this mad scientists daughter, Elizabeth..... Kieran (yeah lets go with that) be Baby and want freedom and be Ennard and thats sister location. In SL youre Micheal Kieran or whatever. In the first 3 fnafs youre some investigator guy or summin idk and in fnaf 4 youre bite of 87 kid throwing hands with straight up Death. Have the Puppet still be one of Aftons victims, first, whatever (fuck you Chica) and be like, another villain. This lonely ghost puppet murdering and stuffing kids to take revenge on ol' Willie... and then going on to keep on killing and stuffing kids cuz it wants more friends (then have it be trapped in a bear costume cuz I really like Lefty ok). Then, my fav, Malhare (cuz glitchtrap is stupid). Just fuse it with the mimic. Have the VR devs be lazy asses who are making money off of actual murders that happened in their reality (fucking deserve the face chopping then) and theyre too lazy to code so they take some pieces of Aftons costume that contain all of his evil memories and experiences and tell an AI to imitate that... just the AI gets too much power and tries to exit the game. Itd also be interesting cuz its not technically evil, just imitating evil cuz its an AI, thats its job. Then, have Vanny be a copycat killer of Afton. Just like, super obsessed Afton fangirl, like one of those people irl who would actually smooch a serial killer unironically. Have her be her own, unique, developed character.. and then I want her to be paired with Malhare (not romantically) as a buddycop murdervillain duo. Have Vanny be utterly adoring Malhare and Malhare trying to be the Afton Vanny wants her to be (cuz its an AI that just wants to do what its told). Itd also be a fun dynamic with Vanny getting these supernatural powers from this phantom of the evil person she adores. So yeah Vanny's a warlock in this. Eldritch Afton blast.
Here we'd have a full spread of different antagonists.
Afton- a legit scary serial killer.
Puppet- the vengeful victim turned abuser
Dr. Idfk- the goofy "Scott likes Scifi" mad scientist villain experimenting with remnant/trying to bring dead kid back idfk man go nuts.
Elizabeth/Baby- the pretty tragic trapped victim with newfound murder instincts.
Malhare- the AI-fueled phantom of a long dead monster, a digital curse of a "being". And
Vanny- the obsessed fangirl copycat killer who wants to carry Aftons legacy and impress the faker phantom by using its demon powers... and a knife!
Hot damn I need to write this fanfiction.... sorry if this was all awful and worse actually I just needed to blurt this out.
Keep Sun and Moon the way they are they're already perfect.

What’s so annoying is that all the villain problems could be solved in such a simple way that still revolves around Afton: adding Afton fanatics in universe.
Afton could’ve been just a guy in a suit who managed to commit awful murders while in charge of a pizzeria franchise, with the child remains only being found in his animatronics after he’d already been spring locked and MIA, presumed dead.
However there were rumours: that despite Afton losing copious amounts of blood at his last known location, he somehow survived in the suit. And after a Freddy-themed horror house burnt down 4 days after a rabbit animatronic was put inside, with footage of it emerging and leaving from the rubble, people got curious. Including scientists, for how did a man survive multiple years in a suit with critical injuries? A particular scientist becomes determined to recreate this miracle, and what are the lives of a few kids in the face of immortality? (Note: this bit could still be Afton, but have it as Afton experimenting after finding himself somehow still alive, not as part as a mastermind “plan all along” thing. He just happened to live, and now kills to learn as well as for enjoyment.) Cue the creation of the Funtimes.
The Fazbear Pizzeria Murders and Conspiracies continue to be talked about over the years, and a woman named Vanessa hears about it. It’s messed up. A really messed up case. Yet she can’t get enough. She knows it’s not right to have an obsession with a child murder case…yet she still finds herself transfixed on it. How he got away with it for so long. How the Afton name became a horror story in every household. A small, nasty part of her sometimes wished that she could be like Him.
The obsession flows over into the Fazbear brand, and she finds herself applying for everything to do with it: VR trials, security guards, mascot roles (unfortunately not like the ones Afton used to wear…), and before she knows it her life is revolving around a children’s brand. Not exactly the life she pictured for herself, but good enough.
…except it’s not enough. She’s like a desperate fan girl, a weak imitation of Afton. He wouldn’t give her a second glance if he saw her current work; walking and waving and handing out pizzas, and the headset was making her head feel oh so fuzzy she needed to do MORE-
It’s not until she’s adding tendons from the third child to “Her Springtrap” that she even questions how much of this idea was really hers, and how much was from the figure that stopped disappearing when the headset came off.
Which lead to the final villain; a man working in tech. He hated it, sure, but it would all be worth it. He’d been a child when all the Afton murders came to light, and got to see in live-time as the Funtimes went out of commission. From then on he’d known he’d do better; succeed where Afton had not, and have his crimes be truly untraceable.
Years of studying code, game development, animatronic hardware went by, waiting for his big break. Then it came in the form of a VR experience. He snuck in his code easily enough, everyone too overworked to care and doublecheck the extra lines. They trusted him anyways; he was the most qualified in the room, and if it was wrong a beta tester would report it back.
He chose his target tester; a woman with a certain mania to her. Desperate with an apparently similar dream (even if she’d never commit without his intervention). Soon Vannie was ready.
The project came to an end, but he asked to transfer to the Pizzaplex even with the large salary decrease. No questions are asked, as cutting corners is Fazbear Entertainment’s number 1 priority. He gets direct access to the Glamrock code, and even has time to work on his personal project: the Mimic. Between the Mimic’s increasing lifelikeness and Vannie’s rebuild project in the basement, he might just get Afton back. And who is the person who can bring back the most feared man of a whole decade from the dead other than a God?
(He does not finish this however, as his own creation had doomed him from the second its purpose became clear. It wasn’t Afton, but it knew how to be Afton, just how it knew how to be an animatronic, and a child, and its own creator. It could be anything it saw, after all.
((And It knew It didn’t want a creator in the picture))
So Afton was just a man in a suit who killed some kids, then paid the price again and again. But legacies live on, and a scary minority hear the horror stories and want to recreate, or worse, improve upon it. Meanwhile people go wild over the new crimes appearing in a refined, updated version of Afton’s from 40 years ago, speculating in fear and excitement at the possibility of the man really “coming back”?? And it is excitement, and suspense, and anticipation as they wait. For as said in the video: “Everyone loves a good villain.”
And there we go!! My idea!! That became a little bit of a story oops, but thanks if you read this far!!!

The first time Moon was revealed in a trailer, he looked so genuinely scary and threatening. It was almost like he was presented as being a constant threat, always there just out of sight. Crawling along the roofs, inside the vents, underneath the floors, inside elevator shafts, etc. Then the game came out and it was such a tremendous disappointment how poorly he was used.
Edit: Both Afton and Baby were horribly utilised after Sister Location, despite Baby being super disturbing and a great villain / enemy. Perhaps UCN was the start of the downfall

When I first heard about Mimic, I was a bit salty that its backstory was in the books. Then I found out some of what happens in those books and started to warm up to it. And when Ruin comes out, after that initial shock factor wore off (yes, I fell for its Gregory act, I'm naive and I like it) and the secret endings were done, I just kinda forgot about it. Then I hear even more from the books and am left feeling disappointed because apparently, it's just another Glitchtrap. I thought it was its own separate thing, not just another freakin' Afton clone! And where's my jester!? Sure we get some "personality" in Ruin, but it's just underwhelming. I'm not particularly upset that it's bratty, I just want there to be more! I like the idea of the Mimic program. BUT OOP, IT'S JUST WILLY A. AGAIN! Not that I have anything against Afton, he's fine, one of my favourite video game characters (specifically back when he was just a man in a suit). I'm just saddened by this, like with Baby, Vanny, and I guess Glitchtrap too.

If the Mimic actually showed up as a jester I would've probably been its biggest defender. XD Goofy clowns get a major pass from me.

I mean most of the critism of "The Mimic is just Afton but not Afton" can only be applied to Glitchtrap
THE Mimic is not an Afton clone, the only thing he even remotely does like him is the luring kids into the backroom shenanigans. The Mimic is its own character and he and Glitchtrap are seperate characters atp cuz the only thing that connects them is Burntrap and Helpi(If Helpi is the last remains of Glitchtrap).
As for the Jester costume,i wish ngl.The "Gregory"suit should've been the Jester springlock costume he got springlocked in at the end of Tales

This shows exactly the problem with villains in FNAF. In this franchise, villains, or characters in general, are shown and seen as more of a narrative than actual characters. We see glimpses of their development. Elizabeth is a character meant to show an "spoiled brat", a girl that wants to seek validation from her father at all costs, and how this unhealthy relationship leads to unhealthy behaviour, which leads to her becoming who she is in FFPS. However, we only see Elizabeth in two or three stages in her life:
    1) In her voicelines in SL, which show her as a girl that seems very close to her father, and that loves Baby.
    2) In the SL gameplay, in which she possesses Ennard. She seems to go along with the plan very well. However, it's very hard to know when Baby (who seems to be her own thing) ends, and Elizabeth starts. Both act almost indistinguishable from each other. However, from this event, it's hard to say her true intentions, as it seems to be an act of revenge against her father, but then if you reach the fake ending, she seems to have planned from the biggining to revive Mike (she repeats "you won't die" throughout the night). So, it's hard to know.
    3) In FFPS, in which she's no longer under any influence from Baby, and is completely obssessed with her father. She warships him like a god, and does... human sacrifices for him? It's reached a level of insalubrity that's unbelievable.
So, we see this, and we can have a somewhat consistent story arc or development in her character, despite how much of Baby was left behind. And I understand this choice. Scott didn't want to make Baby a new villain, nor he wanted to make her to replace William. He wanted another sympathetic villain that, as anyone in the series, is just another victim of his actions. He wanted to tell the story of a little girl who's wish and craving for the love of her father drove her insane. But... we just see glimpses of this. We only see these three brief moments of her character.
This first happened because Scott didn't have many resources, nor experience, on creating characters. I get why this happened in FNAF 1 to 4. But, in SL and FFPS, things had changed. He COULD do better, and he DID better. Afton's lines do depict not "coolness", but delusional naricssism, and Baby does look like a crazy woman who hasn't mentally grown. But now, with Steel Wool, they didn't change this. That was Scott's way of making characters and telling their story. But, in Steel Wools era, they apparently still want to use this "method". With all the secretism and all the stage-like character development, the characters are still nothing better. Steel Wool HAS the resources to make better stories and better characters. They have no reason to not do them. Except they do: the narrative they have. This new era is actually not a "new" era of FNAF, it's actually a repackaged version of the last one. That's its narrative: mimicking the last one. That's why all the characters seem to be copies of old characters, why plotlines and events seem to be too similar to the ones from the old games. It's all about retelling the same story, because "those who don't lears about their history - like Fazbear Entertainment - are doomed to repeat it". Except that that's not an excuse to make BAD characters, when they could be way better if they didn't cling so badly to "the old ways", or whatever they're trying to do. That's why this new era fails in so many aspects, because it could do something deifferent, but they actively choose to go to the safe and keep the "FNAF formula" of never being explicit.

Just like the puppet vids, eating up these ideas. Would love sunnymoon as a villain! And yeah, vanny was so underutilized and overshadowed by her predecessor. And mimics big and aggressive but there's nothing really there

I think you hit the nail in the coffin with the video. I agree 100%. William/Springtrap was an amazing villain but adding new villains would elevate the story more. Circus Baby could have been that, like you said a serious threat that was really for the role but then got kicked to the curb and even has the afton they desperately want Vanny and mimic seem very stiff and bored and underdeveloped maybe future games fix it but doubt it Sun and Moon were always my fav since the trailer and agreed they were cool villains with amazing dynamics

Hot take that just popped into my head: what if “the vengeful spirit” is actually Elizabeth. Her playing the long-con until she could get her manipulative little mitts on the one she blames for being unfair to her. Even if it’s kinda baseless, it fixes both “the one you should not have killed” being some random unknown kid, and Baby’s character assassination all in one fell swoop.

Only problem is this video mostly ignores Ruin, which takes place after HW2. He gets rebooted and seems to lose his possibility of being a villain when it turns him into Eclipse. Though, to be fair, Eclipse thinks he will be seeing children in the morning, so who knows how he'll react when he realizes the truth of his situation.

Well, this is Fnaf. Villains randomly coming back despite being taken off the table is sort of the name of the game, you know? XD
...Plus, you've got a good point. Eclipse breaking- maybe from being removed by the daycare- might create something worse than Moon. O.O

I thing Glitchtrap could work as a villian, he has the potential to be a treat as silently scary as classic creepypasta. I don't think it ever speaks that paired with the whimsical movements gives of this aura of horror. Then there's his ability to possess others human or animatronic allowing him to gather followers inorder to get around the fact it's just an AI. But then they brought William back in SB, and honestly it should've been Glitchtrap.
Perhaps his grand plan was to build a body for himself since again he's only an AI. Using Vanny as his right hand and with the Glamrocks now under his control. It could've even been the explanation for happened to Bonnie, Glitch trap could've killed him to use his body as the base for his new vessel since Bonnie was also a rabbit.
