I am new to doing a swap! I bought a blown up2006 g35 so my question is im not really sure what motor it is thats currently in the car so which motors would be a drect fit. Im only asking cause i dont have any out of a 06 g at my local yards. So what are my options

Do you know where I could get an engine for a 2011 G37 coupe?? Im debating on ebay but im not sure if any of those are any good, most jdm engine websites don’t carry the vqvhrs on their site that I’ve visited online, my coolant goes into the reservoir tank on high revs going past 4.5K or 4K on long drives and by the next day the coolant is still there it doesn’t return back into the radiator neck but I have no milky oil my oil is clean but I do see shiny silver tiny specs in my coolant and sometimes tiny black sludge specs I don’t have any loss of power either, do you think its a leaking head gasket or cylinder head?? My exhaust smells like gas as well no sweet smells at all ive replaced all coolant engine components as well as my radiator cap besides the radiator or water pump but heat blows out of all my air vents when im bleeding the system & no noises from the water pump or leaks from the weep hole, what do you think? Headgasket?

I had a heater hose break on my G37, (that coupling is the Achilles heel of the engine and should be replaced with an aluminum one immediately on every one, ) I fried the engine and had to replace it in my garage by myself because it was during the pandemic shut down. I left the transmission in the car since there wasn't anything wrong with it. The engine is designed to be removed from underneath, so it was an adventure to say the least.
Can you link the aluminum heater hose bc idek which hose on the back of the motor it is, I also have a VQ35HR so I'm wondering if it's even the same
@sebloxz686 kinda late but if you look up any 5/8 inch heater hose aluminum connector, that's what you want instead of the oem plastic ones.

???? What oil pressure readings have you seen on a healthy 3.5 hr or any other vq engines, specifically at ideal, completely warmed up on a nice day say 75, 80 degrees. About 2 months ago I was driving home and the car started misfiring. Soon as I got home I hooked up my scan tool and pulled 3 codes, random misfire, advanced ignition timing, and low oil pressure. So I started with an oil change, then oil pressure test. when cold at idea The pressure reading was 90 psi but as it got warmer it slowly dropped. After reaching normal operating temp it stopped dropping and held a steady 20 psi. After doing some research on these engines I learned that the gallery gasket is a known weaker point but could find anything regarding oil pressure when warm at ideal. So I continued my diagnostics moving to bank 1 vvt which was opening normal but when i got too bank 2 the vvt was frozen shut It wouldn't open at all even under Force. After replacing the broken vvt solenoid the car has been acting normal. 1 thing I know about vvt solenoids is they typically fail do to not getting the correct amount of oil, which could be because of low oil or low oil pressure. Which leads me back to my question about oil pressure.
Normal is around 23-25 at idle

Check your injectors one might be stock open
Bro help me out plz tell what I should do so I recently purchased a 2014 Infiniti Q60 coupe awd not even a month of having it the water pump went out I had it fixed they found copper like flakes in the oil pan and two weeks later the car jerked while driving pretty slow after that when accelerating the car sounded different like a whirling and little knocking sound I believe I spun a bearing the code it’s throwing is low oil pressure but the oil looks fine bc especially since everything just got topped off when they changed the water pump anyways now they’re telling me I need a new engine
Yeah low oil pressure is never good and copper flakes is bearing material, you likely caused damage to your bottom end. If your car overheats its from expensive metal to metal contact so yes likely a new engine is needed
Hi, I was wondering, is it possible to pull the engine without the trans? I think my trans is fine, and would really like to avoid having to drain it and disconnect the drive shaft.
Yes its possible but it will be much harder to properly mount the engine and transmission this way. I dont recommend it.

Yo I’m in Arizona how much you charge for a swap on 2008 g35 sedan with vq35hr motor ? Coolant keeps overflowing out of radiator and I did water pump and guides 4 years ago so I’m guessing it’s motor now…
I tried bleeding it with heater full blast and than ac and it keeps overflowing … lmk

No you can keep the same ecu
i’m getting codes p0011 and p0021 is my engine done? I was driving earlier and my car like locked while I was driving and lost power I pulled and turned it off and tried to restart it makes a weird noise and keeps shutting back off
Yes it's possible I would have a mechanic look at it before replacing the engine

Yes the ecu won't know the difference as long as you keep the same ecu and keys

Check your injector harness probably a cut somewhere in the wire

Hey Eric, I have a 2009 370z with a manual drivetrains transmissions good and i have found a replacement motor from a 2015 q50 with the vq37vhr as well the company says its direct plug and play with the ECU and should swap right out, do you know if it will be? as well as can i just pull the motor since the tranny is good i just plan on replacing the clutch and flywheel as well but dont want to pull it out
The 370z has uses different types of oil pressure sensor compared to the q50/g37 the Engine is the same but the sensors still be different. Just connect the 370z harness to the engine. The ecu is what makes the difference in power not the engine
@@ERICSDIYGARAGE Thank you im currently in the process of doing it now in a garage using all your methods and steps I am taking the harness out with the motor i am going to just transfer it, do you think it would be easier to leave the tranny on the car and just pull the motor or pull them all together? as well as is there any risk of breaking the ac lines bc i wasnt able to get the ac discharged and thats all i have left to do before pulling it out but im nervous about moving it to the side

There is an aluminum water housing that goes across the back of that engine, I strongly suggest replacing the gaskets while the engine is out, it's an absolute bitch to do when it starts leaking and it's up against the firewall and so easy to do when it's out.
The o-rings on those tubes rarely leak in my experience so I dont replace them
@@ERICSDIYGARAGE those are rubber coated metal gaskets and I had to replace one, it was an sob, I speak from experience. Also, the nipple in the two piece heater hose coming out of the firewall on the passenger side disintegrated on my 2010 and cost me an engine, I replaced it with an aluminum one and I highly recommend doing that to any G37.

Replace the torque converter or the whole trans
@@isaiahballard9859 I think you should have someone look into the problem. A torque converter is like a pump I have yet to see a bad torque converter on these cars. Pay someone to diagnose your problem

Why did you switch the harness? I just did a swap - 2010 g37 RWD Auto - I pulled the engine , trans, wire harness. I replaced it with a 2011 g37 RWD Auto - The engine , trans and wire harness. Now I am getting a no crank no start condition. Acting like the key wont start it. Had the key light lit up but my fob locks unlocks the doors. I hear one click left side of dash when pushing the push start.
The harness that came with the engine was cut so it wasn't any good. Did you use the same ecu
@@ERICSDIYGARAGE yes I kept the same ecu, the only things I brought in were the wire harness , trans , and engine.
Go back and double check everything. After I think 10 or 15 fail starts the ecu will go into lock mode and the nats will be active so just be careful
@@ERICSDIYGARAGE Crazy, it ended up being the thick square plug near the ipdm and battery. Wasn't plugged all the way in. Plugged in and key light went off and after 5-6 tries (building fuel pressure I'm sure) fired right up. Thanks for the quick responses

I was just wondering why do you need to take the belt off to pull some of the accessories! couldn’t you just take out the engine itself like that?
You could, but you would need to disconnect the power steering pump and ac compressor and leak all the fluid on the floor
Why do these motors give out I have a g35x with a vq35HR I run 0w40 amsoil 160k miles should I sell it or you think it can hit 250k miles no issues on the motor
People run them to do the ground and don't take care of them they can easily make it to 300k miles
My revup has 256k. Just keep adding oil.
Don't forget to unplug the crankshaft position sensor on the back of the engine, it's difficult to get to.
You don't need to unplug it

Yes but you will need to take your hood off

Why do you have to take off the belts
To remove the ac compressor and alternator and power steering pump the belt is in the way
