Your work is by far one of the best videos I have seen. Your attention to detail and the care you apply to your work is a lost art in today’s work environment. As I can seen taking short cuts and rushing can and will be a disaster. I’m not a mechanic but mechanics like you are a rare breed. You use hand screws where impact is not the are not the right tool. As it pertains to engines this makes you a modern day Rembrandt. Keep up the good work. I appreciated the skill set and watching the video was very educational.
@markus360s I'm at 132,000 miles on mine right now. I'm just going to get the full potential out of this engine. After the gallery gasket, I'm going to put the soho supercharger lyte kit on and then have some fun.
Holy crap, I'm about at 100k but this video is very helpful for the chain, water pump and thermostat! I couldn't find a video ANYWHERE to make me understand how to do this timing thing and be able to not ruin my engine! I really appreciate this!
Glad this can be helpful. It’s a process. We always recommend a professional. But if you can’t find one and you want to try it yourself. Here’s what we do.
Yeah a shop wanted to quote me $4,800 on gallery gaskets. I did it my self and did a full timing chain with secondary chains. Started first try. Damn UA-cam is amazing
I want to thank you so much for being straight forward the whole video, I watched a couple of these and you explained everything clearly and simply. Definitely gave me the confidence to do the job, as I am experienced with Volvos I am surprised how much more difficult a Nissan is to do a timing job / same but very different 😂
thank you for the details. I'm already half way done and made it to the timing chain and stopped and found this amazing video and will tackle it soon. Thank you again for this amazing video.
Fun fact with freon. I drained the freon out of an old refrigerator with a 12 gauge in the backyard years ago to scrap it. The freon sprayed into grass. The next morning that grass was the deepest green i have ever seen and it grew at least 6 inches overnight. 2 days later it was dead. Its a good short term "fertilizer."
Great video. Best I've seen on anything with the gallery gaskets. I going to need you to just go ahead and do a video on everything about the Z's and G's. Especially replacing the cams hahaha.
i like how he didn't show the torquing of the bolt under the secondary chain (Tricky bolt), guess he can't torque it without removing more parts. 37:16 not complaining, just wanted to see how he did it, and guess it CAN"T BE DONE!!! lol amazing work and commentary. a must know for vq35\37hr engines
Allen head sockets are narrower than the chunky screwdriver he had to file down, plus the timing chain is off on the re-torque so you have more space to get in there. His arm was blocking the show but it sounded like he got in there no problem.
Also Im sure you know, On top of the tensioner, there is a hole, if you put tension and align the 2 holes, you can put a pin though the tensioner hole and it will keep it tensioned while you install the belt with both hands.
in regards to the timing chain do all i need to do is follow exactly how he did in this video?? or is the motor still not at top dead center of the compression stroke even with the ridges aligned ??
Yes Follow the video. If you line up both the cam marks and the crank mark like he did, then it is at TDC. Remove the chain after u get it all lined up, then install the chain with the 2 yellow links lining up with the cam marks, and the red link lining up with the crank mark
Did this last fall and this is definitely the time to swap out motor mounts for some urethane mounts. Headers too, its all accessible when you have the front clip off and accessories out of the way.
Nice work! Just got done doing my gallery gasket and timing stuff done. Was wondering if you have a video on install on a a2a supercharger kit for g37coupe. Thank you and great video! ❤️
Man! I need to do the same for my 350z DE revup engine soon, because its currently sitting at 96k Miles and I never worked in such a big an complex engine before, I usually work on inline 4s (i'm from Paraguay, south america) and just seeing you made me so friggin concerned about the amount of thing that I can screw up so much hahahahha! But I need to become a man and do my own DE, besides nowady in this forgotten part of the world knows how to do this so, why pay for screwing up your engine when you can screw up yourself for free? hahaha, thank you for the video, I already saved it for later!
I am dreading the day when it's time to do this. I'm scope creeping and adding a NISMO oil pump and ATI damper whenever it's time to do this job. Thankfully my oil pressure is well within spec at 155K. Maybe i got lucky and fused the gallery on the track lmao.
Whats you psi sit at? I never know what is good bc SO MANY PPL SAY ALL DIFF NUMBERS! NISSAN says 15psi warmed up at idle is fine is that true? thats what I am at --88k miles and I drive normal
What tool did you use to take out the free on in the ac line ? It says it’s going to be in the description but I don’t see no link to it and also for the extended 10 mm stuck on extension. If you have both links it would be great.
Thanks for the video I was able to do this job myself instead of paying 4k to the dealer…but just to find out it was for nothing because the previous owner replaced the gaskets already and I still have the same problem 🤦🏽
Great video. Thanks for posting. When the gallery gaskets fail does it always throw a code? I've got 140k on my G35S, and was assuming since no code I've gotten lucky so far. Maybe I'll check with a manual oil pressure gauge.
What ended up happening. I’m in the same boat with my 350z. Changed oil pressure sensor, still at 0psi. Going to check it with a manual gauge. But I have zero codes.
Is there a timeframe on when to do the gallery gaskets as well? My father had a 2010 G37S coupe RWD 20th anniversary edition. Only 11k miles on it in 14+ yrs…. I would as with use time can cause then to go bad as well? Thoughts??
Im gonna tackle this job here real soon in the garage my 2011 sedan is at 150k and ive put off the job long enough im confident enough to pull everything off and put it back together my Technician buddy is gonna help me with the gaskets, timing chain, and upgraded oil pump gear
Currently doing my gallery gaskets and after further inspection, some of the gasket screws looks like they've already been touched, making me believe it's been done I noticed my oil pressure switch was covered in power steering fluid though, which could be the reason why my pressure light was turning on, not my gallery gaskets. Oh well I'm already this far in 🤷🏿♂️
How much do you charge for a 2010 g37 sedans gaskets? I’ve been trying to find a place and nobody where I live will do it (I live in lake county) I’m only an hour and half from your shop
Timing marks are on the sprockets and oil pump. Not the timing cover. Also, removing the whole front end is not necessary. You can do this with just removing the radiator fan. Great diy video though.
Those gaskets didn't stick like other cars you've might've done, because they most likely changed their oil frequently 💯 Edit...ok i see whereas it's been opened before...But why nobody changes the 2 can tensioners🤔 they dont go bad?
Best video of car maintenance i saw in a long time. Credit also goes to the camera guy.

Yeah shop near me quoted me 4k to do the gallery gasket after I heard that my confidence to do it myself went from 25% to 95% after that 😂
Just keep your eye out on the timing ! Don’t ever wanna mess that up
Sadly I'm in the same boat
That sucks, 4k is crazy. Sounds like the shop didn't want to do it at all. Shops in KC do it for 1k to 2k.
@@Hondacbr600rrish I know I think I’m just gonna get a new motor lol it’s ALOT of miles on it anyway

Thanks for your channel. A lot of great stuff on here. 👍
You didn’t link the Freon drain tool
Love the BZF banner. Thanks for being a sponsor.
Is it possible to get a list of all the parts you replaced while doing the gasket job?
32:02 has some parts rattled off but I see you're point
i like how he didn't show the torquing of the bolt under the secondary chain (Tricky bolt), guess he can't torque it without removing more parts. 37:16
not complaining, just wanted to see how he did it, and guess it CAN"T BE DONE!!! lol amazing work and commentary. a must know for vq35\37hr engines
make a custom short allen wrench or I guess ball end would work and tq by hand

Torque spec for the 10mm and 14mm bolts on the cover ? Any link to all torque specs ? Thanks
I did this on my car, great video,

What’s the tool u used for ac
What’s the tool to drain the Freon called can’t find the link
does anyone know the name of that thing he uses to drain the freon and how i go about doing that in my garage at home??
Nice work! Just got done doing my gallery gasket and timing stuff done. Was wondering if you have a video on install on a a2a supercharger kit for g37coupe. Thank you and great video! ❤️
Can't you make grooves in the covers and use sealant? Like the front timing cover does...

Where did you get the coolant caps from? I saw a red one at 10:50 in the video

I have a question. The car you are working on has 170k miles.
Is it necessary to do the secondary timing chain and guide? Thanks
How to remove the crankshaft bolt

Hello. Yes it’s the same VQ37VHR Engine
incredible video! do you guys provide this service or you just sell parts?
We provide service and sell parts
@@niftynet how much would that be?

How much would you guys charge to do this in my G?

I can’t find the tool to drain Freon
I did mines twice first cheap one went out now I got the z1 gallery gasket
hi, what was the cheap one? i bought mine from infiniti dealer but i dont know if it is good like the z1
@ if it’s not metal then it won’t last and you’ll need the torque screws
Why aren't you using a hammer- Impact screwdriver to prevent striping those screws?
My guy did this without the sport mode active on them CROCS 34:03
Hahahahaha
where’s the list of stuff you bought for it?
Drop parts numbers for all oem gaskets used in video
