- In this video I give a full in depth tour of the 1990 Chrysler New Yorker Fifth Avenue I take viewers on a close look through the interior and exterior of this car while showing details, over viewing of features, and noting unique styling cues to the vehicle itself. I also show the engine and the details of it, start it up and see how it sounds under acceleration. A thorough tour/review of this car designed to give others a greater overall appreciation of the vehicle.

If you ever drove a car with interior like this you'd never want to go back.Extremely comfortable.
Tried out one my mechanic had on his lot while I was driving a '90 Volvo. Also tried the '97 Lincon Town Car. My next driver was a 1992 Cadillac Sedan DeVille. You really don't go back.
Such a beautiful vehicle. Back when looks and style meant something and cars were made to last.
I had this exact car, and year, only a Mark Cross edition in the early 90s, but mine had the digital dash and every available option. That thing rode like a cloud on the highway. It was amazing to travel in over long distances. Such comfort and the AC blew so cold it felt like the windows would frost up! It was a great car.
Im thinking about looking at one I found in Facebook. Did yours have the talking car feature?
I have this exact version rn with 138miles
Not a fan of anything Chrysler but I love this 31 year old Relic! Doors closing still sound incredibly solid!
I dated a woman back in the early 90's who drove this identical car. Same color and interior but a year older if I recall. Lots of good times in that car...if you catch my drift. Ahh..memories. Hard to believe nearly 25 years have come and gone since then.
A beautiful and strong car. I don’t know why no one makes cars this way anymore?
Years ago, I had a 1990 New Yorker a lot like this one. The ride was amazing, and the technology it came with was incredible for the time. It came with digital everything, as well as automatic leveling suspension. While it was tremendously enjoyable to drive, the transmission proved to be an enormous headache. Somewhere around 50k miles, some $4 part called an "overdrive shift ring" broke and destroyed the entire transmission, causing a breakdown right in the middle of rush hour traffic. Had the transmission repaired several times, and replaced the computer module as well, but it never ran right after that. After a couple years of transmission breakdowns, I finally got rid of the thing. They were sure nice cars to drive when they were working.
You never have anything bad to say about any of cars or trucks you report about-It's what makes your videos so enjoyable - thank you!
Had '91. White with a blue, yes, blue interior. Those seats, omg those seats. Car was also as solid as a bank vault. Loved that old mans car. Only bummer was couldn't fit my hockey sticks in the trunk.
I have a fully loaded 91’ white fifth Avenue with the mark cross package red Corinthian leather interior. And OMG! The seats. People just don’t know what there missing. And these cars were seriously over engineered when Chrysler built them. Heated outside mirrors, navigation compass heads up display with other systematic information on the overhead console. 8 way adjustable power seats with memory on the driver side that also remembers the mirror settings, digital instrument cluster. Rear air suspension. Power pull down trunk. Automatic shutoff headlights. And more. As the trademark at the time for Chrysler was “there is no luxury without engineering!” And it’s so true. I love mine. I hope you can get another one if you desire one
Some very advanced features for 1990 and those seats look very comfy, Iike it.
that's probably because the New Yorker was Chrysler's luxury car back in the day, and as you know, luxury cars tend to have better things in it for its time
@@PoopLoop202 No other car or even any other luxury car had those seats. They were otherworldly
Love these older Chryslers!
MAGNUM05 i see you everywhere
Brasil ,2019, Chrysler lindo,clássico car
Salute Patriots from Poland
My grandfather had a car just like this, I inherited it when he passed away, this was a nice car and very comfy too!
The thing that puts this over the original 5th Avenue like I own It's the fact that the lights are covered and not completely exposed from the hood lining! Definitely a wonderful feature. I have a Chrysler 5th Avenue in 1987 still mint condition but that's the issue with the headlights and they have to be replaced at least every 5 years.. Ballast and all.
I used to have one similar to this, the Landau trim with the dark blue interior, and cloth seats. I LOVED the car, sure it had some quality issues(one time shutting the door all the doors trim just fell off) but it was the most comfortable car I've ever been in and so much class!
That's one piece of cool automobile :D The interior, the headlights, the grille, the vinyl top... love cars like this one.
That car is extremely flawless. Don’t you just love it when you find old cars that are very well taken care of?
Wow, great to see a Fifth Avenue in such a great condition. Normally its one of those typical cars that got totally trashed or sent to the junkyard years ago. This gen Fifth Avenue/New Yorker/Dynasty never was the best option if you wanted buy an american fullsize car but it has character and its nice to see there are still some good looking ones out there. Another canditate for "Id rather buy it for a collection than selling it for cheap money".
These early 1990s Chryslers were just as luxurious as those made 20 years before. They rode like them, too. But their exterior fit and finish left a lot to be desired. A lot of these cars lost much of their chrome trim within five or six years. This particular example was evidently owned by a senior citizen who was very mindful (and had to be!) about keeping his or her car in tip-top shape. The car was no doubt garaged for all its life. This car is now 26 years old and, in most states, is eligible for antique-car plates, so that should be enough reason for the next owner to keep it well-maintained.
My Mom came home with that Dynasty version. I was shocked as she always bought nicer cars. They hit the market for those that still wanted that formal roofline though. In rental car white too. The radio quit working in the first year of ownership (yes, the base/basic radio) along with the common Chrysler premature a/c unit failure. Thr torque steer on these FWD vehicles was horrifying too. Im sure the whole thing would have fallen apart in 36 months but she bought it right after retiring and really never drove it.
This car has all of the options that you'd ever want on a car....Props!
The entire interior has taken design elements from living room sofas.
Well...yeah!
I have the same 1 as in this Vid but it a 92 and Yes it's Grandma's "good couch" on wheels
@@CiggyCigs I love the sound of that.
Nice it's my dream car one day I'll get one
Bought a white one with the same interior packaging. I am so in love with mine. It’s so comfortable!
My mom had one of these growing up, it was like riding in a limo, I remember my friends and I would get picked up in this at school. To bad the transmission went bad shortly after paying it off. Great car other than that.
Exact same story here! Friends wanted rides to school all the time, lol... Only difference with us is that we got the original 1988 model, so we avoided the new (and ultimately problem-plagued) Ultradrive transmission that debuted for 1989.
Ahh yes! I loved the Chrysler 5th Aves from 90-93 as well as the Cadillac Devilles from 89-93.
These cars were just boats that floated. I think an 18 wheeler had a better turning radius then the Chrysler.
The thing that was messed up though is that the Fifth Aves and Imperials of these years were basically 17 ft long K cars. Nonetheless I love them.
Really? I just test drove 87 new Yorker and the turning radius was the smallest I've ever seen in any car felt like I was driving a toy car was majorly surprised. Maybe yours had crappy steering column
It's amazing what Chrysler achieved with the K platform!
The last-generation LeBaron and Dodge Daytona models come to mind...
Kyle, you do such a great job on these videos! You explain all the details and the cars are interesting!!!!!!!!!
My neighbor has a 1991 Imperial, very similar to the New Yorker, it has electrical gremlins but overall is a nice car. The Imperial has a digital dash and automatic day/night mirror. Overall they are very close in looks!
Wow! That is a very nice looking car. The matching interior/exterior color is amazing.
But... that interior... is amazing! It looks so comfy! I want one!
I remember these, don't see many of these anymore especially in this shape. These were nice looking at the time & look better than the current Chrysler's in my opinion.
I still remember my dad wanted one of these so bad. Never did get one. Great video.
i like that new Yorker i am going to by one of those
He should be glad he didn't get one
@@richsweeney1115 reason?
so many memories riding in a car like that from my childhood
Thing of beauty! With headlights open look so cool!
currently driving a 1995 volvo 940 but after seeing this i just found one on marketplace with black interior buying straight away !! absolutely beautiful car
Wow! My uncle had one just like this back in the day! Nice video!
my OG had one of these when I was in high school boy what a joy to Drive when she let me
I’m only 20, into mustangs, but I love these style of cars, like a moving living room, the interior has such a comfortable look and feel
Beautiful car. I remember that color combo...it was stunning. And the seats! Mom had a 90 Lebaron, which was smaller, but had the tufted seats like the New Yorker. Incredibly comfy on a long drive
Thanks for the video, You answered all of my questions.
Looks great! Great vid as always Kyle!
That interior is so classy!
I have the Dodge Dynasty (Dodge version of this one). 1992.. and i LOVE it.
One of the few in the Netherlands.
We used to have a Dodge Dynasty that looked almost exactley like this. There are so many features that look the same here, and it brings back a lot of memmories, from a LOT of trips in it.
I heard Barracuda and my child hood was relived.
GTA San Andreas Forever.
This car is absolutley lovely! I love the red interior and the button tuft seats! I have a 91 Imperial that like this just different styling cues and its beige, I wish it came with the New Yorker seats instead. Maybe one day I will find a burgundy red Imperial and swap the seats soon!
those seats look like a throne fit for a king!! damn
This is a very nice car. I can tell it was very well-maintained and taken care of. Kudos to the owner(s) of this car. 79,000 original miles on it? That's really something. Purrs like a cat to me!
I love them pillow top seats man, that's the best thing that I love about this car :)
I like these sedans more!! Brilliant job bro.
These cars are absolutely perfect for driving and riding in.
I love that interior
geez, you americans know how to make nice cars. you can tell alot of time and passion were put into vehicles like this. nowadays theres no real thought into styling or substance in vehicles, especially from japan and korea. just cheaper materials and build time is all these big companies care about.
Johan Kuijpers hell ye
Awww Thank you! :)
old or oldish cars in general are that way
this car came out when i was 3 and my aunt had one, and it WAS luxury for me. all the buttons and the headlights. memories! lol.
This was literally my parents car growing up in the 90’s lol same color too! We have good memories in that car
awesome video
Wow, that's a gorgeous car!
dream car. thanks for the video.
The Chrysler fifth avenue has one of the most beautiful enteriors I’ve seen in a car
Nice car, looks great.
Drop dead gorgeous!!!!!
I wonder if squared off cars will ever make a comeback?
+allencrider Hope so!
+allencrider I think they are, slowly but surely. If you look at the latest new cars you'll see lots of squared-off design in the interior, besides, like everything else, car design runs in cycles and we're a little overdue for a new design theme.
dont care. its hip to be square. the reason i bought an 88 fifth ave
+mrco74 Not to mention that the government pretty much tells us how to build a car now.
@@exxusdrugstore300 those days are gone.
I love those cars !
I also love them pop up headlights too man
I bet Ron Burgundy has owned one of these :P
man I miss these style of videos.
daniel55645 so I am :( ... we need a old style video saabkyle04 :)
Incredible ride
the seats looks like it's very comfortable. i wish i could ride one of this now.
Those seats look extremely comfortable!
@saabkyle04 just want to say kyle that yuor videos open up my mind for what type of car i want in the future i enjoy whatching your videos i appreciate all the time you put into the videos and just wanna sasy nice job
That steering wheel is exactly the same one as our 1995 Jeep Cherokee 2.5 Turbodiesel that we used to have. Probably some other bits and pieces of interior trim and stuff are shared with all the Chrysler/Jeep cars, I've seen that wheel on the minivans too and some of the switchgear looks familiar, I think the jeep had some of it too Lol.
Back in early 2000, the vehicle I owned was totaled about 3 months before the loan would have been paid off. I used the insurance money obtained as a down payment on this particular make & model Chrysler... Same year, color, interior & everything and it was a great car. No major issues that I recall except for after a few years having to replace the tensioner & belt and later on it needed another ignition switch. One of the best cars I ever owned...in fact, gave me much better service than both my 93 Cadillac Seville & 96 Cadillac Eldorado...both purchased after I got rid of the 5th Avenue. I recently went back to Chrysler in December of last year and bought a new 2019 Chrysler 300.
I had one of these and ive got to tell you this was the best big/small car I ever owned....I got rid of it because the mechanic wanted an arm and a leg to fix the waterpump & alternator....1600.00 for both- I only pd 1000.00 for it a year earlier- GOD!!!! I did luv the v6 performance- it was a great vehicle...very advanced for its day.
Yeah that!!! My dreamcar, would fit perfectly in your video collection Kyle (competitor to Cadillac Brougham etc)
My grandparents used to have New Yorker similar to this one but it was more of a base/Salon model with regular top different wire wheel covers and it also didn't have pillow top seats they were dark gray cloth seats. The car was Gray as well.
beautiful interior
Awesome!
i love those style seats. they look like a fluffy bed or pillow or something haha
had one of these..Gold...fabulous car...
White Shampane gold clear coat metallic as it was called
The 3.3 V6 in this 1990 Chrysler New Yorker was added as an optional engine. 3.3 V6 was only standard in the Imperial. The New Yorker standard engine was the 3.0 V6 and that engine was an absolute piece of carp. The valve guide seals would go bad in after 70000 miles. I've seen a lot of Dodge Dynasty's Dodge Spirit's Plymouth Acclaim and New Yorker's going down the road with that 3.0 V6 all blowing blue smoke out the back of the exhaust. The 3.3 V6 however was a better quality built engine and reliable.
The 3.3L and later 3.8L powered most of the Dodge Caravans later on and was by far the most reliable part about them...lel
The 3.0 was a Mitsubishi motor only in the 88 and 89 of the New Yorker (for the 13th Gen in this tense), but once you hit 90 and beyond, the 3.3 was Chrysler original, the 3.8 joined it in the NYer in 91. the 3.3 was standard in the Imperial, New Yorker, and other K-Series related models as of 1990. Good little motor.
I think you could still get the 3.0 in the New Yorker Salon - basically a Dynasty with a Chrysler badge.
Awesome Car
Very, VERY nice car!!
Que gran auto super conservado y q magníficos interiores una gran joya saludos desde México
This is the car for ME !
i just like your channel!
i remember 2 years ago u made a video on a new yorker. i hink it was like a green/blueish color
great to see another one kyle!
if u ever see a 85-90 buick electra park avneue, think of mine! lol
that is such a nice car.
Pretty good, interieur is really great, the 3.3 / 3.8 liter V6 engines are indestructible, the 3.0 (Mitsu) got some oil consumption problems. A604 tranny just needs a fluid (ATF+4) and filter change every 25k, then it will run great.
Especially the quaity of sheet metal / underbody is awesome
I have this EXACT same car. Color style and everything. Was sitting for 5 years when i bought it so it's a little rough but a beautiful ride.
I love the last K Body NYer´s, would be my dream daily
I agree with Drew. You rock!
Insanely luxurious car for its age.
Really nice car for the 90's
holy crap, awsome car for the 90's
I miss mine, it was so comfortable.
I think it had an engine light come on, right when the lights went on, very typical Chrysler.
LOL @ how Chrysler had better interiors back then compared to the Daimler shit of the early-mid 2000's.
Now I realy want this car.
Just bought an 88 5th Ave, absolutely love it, the 418 v8 is so nice.
@ The 1988 5th Avenue is on the previous, rear wheel drive platform. It did come with a V8. The FWD version in the video began in 1989.
That’s a M-body fifth Avenue. If it has the 318. Though those are known to be tough as nails if maintained
Nice car it's in great shape. I see this car all the time driving around my area but none as nice as this one.
the interior looks comfy
I just bought my grandpa's 1993 Chrysler New Yorker Fifth Avenue today. It's when they revised it for a rounder front and rear end. My headlight covers fold down, instead of up. Weird that they made that sort of a change. It has 107k miles and everything works...mint condition. Including the old R-12 A/C.
I miss this car. Had it in HS 2002. Was totaled while park by a Cadillac DeVille. Good times!
