Thanks Jon! I wanted an easy date select drop down and this inspired me to use the pivot version\search for the user. I created a data dashboard already with multiple criteria based on the date selection and this helped.
Excel is so underrated :) . Like being able to to sum multiple values based on multiple criteria with a simple sumifs ...
    Thanks for your videos!

    Hi,
was sceptical at first (reading on your blog), but then the video looked okish, so i tried it and actually good tip. In my dashboard i had to put away the slicer as it was causing some distractions, but the idea of filter and not using the rest of pivot table, is great :)
    cheers

This is a good idea. Since slicers don't automatically jump to the selected person, I would add to a linked cell, probably as a title, showing the name of the person selected.

This is fantastic. Thank you for making an easy to follow video. The only issue that I'm having is that I can't move the filter cells as you show at the 3:27 mark. The filters automatically show at the top of the worksheet and can't be moved. Please let me know how to change it, so I can move the filter to where we need it in the worksheet. Thank you.

Very nice Jon. Though the size of the second pivot table selection field resizes based on the text length. Maybe maintain table formatting is needed?
Question - is there a way to select a filtered set of data and copy it to the clipboard and then paste it into a predefined "table" and have the table automatically expand to the lines being copied?

    • @ExcelCampus

      Hi Larry,
Yes, there is an option in the Pivot Table Options menu to Autofit Column Widths on Update. You can uncheck the box to turn it off.
In regards to your question, you can use an Excel table for this. Here is a video on Excel Tables. ua-cam.com/video/fJnJTff4Na8/v-deo.html

Nice method for filtering multiple items in a slicer. Is there a similar method for filtering a group of numbers with a slicer? Like all records in a pivot table where the ID number is greater than 10000?

    Hello,
Thanks for putting up these great video! How would I get a pivot table row to be hyperlinked to another pivot table that has more detailed info about the row selected. So for example if I have a pivot table four projects, and if I click on project 1, I want to be taken another page that would have detailed info regarding that project 1. The detailed page would also be a pivot table, or developed from a macro that reads from the same date source. Hopefully I am making sense. Thanks in advance.
