- Welcome, survivor. Being scammed is a horrible thing to experience and I am glad you are here. I hope these videos are helpful to you.
This first video is an introduction about what you will hear in the playlist/series of videos that follow this one. Each video is a topic related to the emotional effects of being scammed, one of the few resources anywhere that deals with this. You'll learn some reasons why you feel so terrible, reasons why ANYONE can be scammed, and some ideas about helping yourself through the healing process.
There are quite a few people that aren't aware of the many tactics that scammers use against us to take our money - there are persuasion techniques, ways to create fearful circumstances, and scammers use our own values and the normal ways human brains work in order to gain an advantage over us. Watch out! This isn't about a person's intelligence level. Anyone can be scammed, even those of you who think it can never happen to you.

It is difficult to get over being scammed. You end up with an ugly mess of painful emotions and a sense of hopelessness over your loss. It IS possible to get to feeling better though, so please don't lose hope entirely. I hope that as you go through the video series, you'll start to see that this is possible.

I was scammed today 300$ I feel like such an idiot, they talked to me for days and they seemed so real. Thank you I just felt so dumb and anxious and alone when it happened it was just out of nowhere.
You are not an idiot. I hope you also watched the video here in this playlist when I talk about why being scammed doesn't have anything to do with a person being dumb in any way. Scammers are extremely good at what they do, and they take advantage of circumstances and vulnerabilities a person has at the moment. They create circumstances that make you more vulnerable. Anyone can be scammed, it just takes the "right" circumstances. I hope you find some good ways to take care of yourself while you work on healing from this awful experience. Scammers suck.

Another warning, everyone. Please be cautious about anyone commenting here and claiming to be able to recover money for you. No one can do that except law enforcement, the courts, etc. Money recovery is a second attempt at scamming people who were already scammed once. There are a huge number of links that will pop up on Google for you and other pages too, and I've had a number of people add comments here and on the other videos. And even then, Law enforcement probably won't do shit lol. They don't care. Why would they? It's not a profit center for them... They'd rather pull people over for slightly speeding instead of actually bring justice to the world.
I've just lost half of my money because of a scam. I feel so ashamed, embarrassed, guilty, and angry. I don't know if I'll be able to trust others again. Thanks for the video.

I want to thank you for this video. I've been scammed out of 800$ as of today, and I'm already seeking ways to get my money back. I was alone in my room when it happened and I had a total panic attack. I couldn't breathe. It all felt so unreal. It made me feel so horrible about myself... I'm not backing down tho.

i just got scammed, albeit not a lot, just $10, but i feel so stupid for being scammed by such an obvious scam. i've been approached before but didn't give them money but this time i gave it to them and as i walked away, regret began to fester in me. at least this experience will solidify my boundaries to saying "no" and walking away next time. i just feel ridiculous even if it was a small amount, i still could've bought anything else instead of wasting it.
People feel this way even when it isn't a huge dollar figure, it is still violating and still a crime. Thanks for being here and I hope you are able to move past this very soon!
ever since i got scammed, i believe that forgiving your scammer helps, also praying for them to get a real job has helped me to deal with the shame.

I feel you. I just got scammed 999$ last night. They have this good believable order commission website that at first you earn and can withdraw the money but as the order get higher you need to have same amount balance of the product. In the end, the money got higher, couldn't withdraw anymore and they blocked my account. Got me good and now I owe my roommate some money cause of that. Hope we all recover

I have been scammed in a car scheme. It’s ruined my life the last year and I’m not out of it. He continues to scam me and win. I’m currently trying to figure out what legal action I can take. Thank you for making this series as no one else has really any videos on this.

It may be worthwhile to check with either local law enforcement or the FBI to see if they can help since you are still in contact. i am currently in the same situation and it makes me feel stupid. i keep thinking about how i should have been careful and smart.
It may be that the more you learn about how sophisticated scammer operations are around the world and how many manipulative tactics they use, that this will help you know that it didn't happen because you are stupid. You aren't. Scammers are criminals, ruthless, and use all the ways they can think of to take advantage of people. Take care and I hope the videos keep helping you.

Did you also find the book I wrote about this? It may be that the detail in the book about helping yourself heal could be helpful in getting rid of the shame. It is so awful to feel that way, and I am sad for you that it is happening. The book has a lengthy chapter on healing, with ideas on several ways you might work for that on your own. I listed as many as I could think of, knowing that not all of them would appeal to all people. Hopefully you find something there that works for you! And please, take care of yourself and be kind and patient with yourself. This is a really hard thing to go through, and I wish you all the very best.

I was scammed $800~ by my first art commission. Went from trying to get them to pay $25 for it, to losing so much and it doesn’t help that I’m a college student either. I haven’t been eating and sleeping well for the past week and these vids are truly helpful 🙏

I was scammed 130 today. So many signs from their behavior and also signals from my body that I ignored today. I'm sad to have lost that money and was given nothing in return. I'm also glad that I've learned more about myself even if it's not something I wanted to face.. I got in my own way today, and I'm more disappointed about that fact than I am over losing 130$

This is so real, i got scammed for 135 also when trying to buy a used medical device for my horse. There were signs I saw, but made myself believe it was okay. I was so ashamed of myself for believing the person😢
I just got scammed for $550, I live in a third world country where that's a lot to get by. Local anti cybercrime unit aren't so helpful and I can't do anything about it. I'm crying my eyes out right and I don't know what to do. Realizing my hard earned money just to be taken from me by those heartless monsters is so frustating and makes me angry about myself T_T. that's 2 months of work from my last job. I wish this video will help me get over it, I so ashamed I can't even talk to this with people I'm close to. My heart hurts so much because I've never lost that much money in one go.

Thank you for this. I got scammed badly for the first time in hopes of buying a good gift for you younger brother. I regret not noticing the signs behind the details when that scammer blocked me after sending cash 😢 Now, I felt guilt and depressed for wasting my hard earned cash 💔

My property got scammed, lose around usd $101,328, went to psychiatric and it didnt help. diagnosed with 3 mental ill, my mom thrashed the meds, never equally treated by my parents, my dad is also mentally abusive, easily angried by the slightest inconvenience, and my privileged sister is selfish. Never in my life i stop having suicidal thought even for a minute, been depressed since junior highschool. Im just so done with everything

I was scammed for 1300 USD on an online shopping platform, and the police said it was hard to get the money back. I’m a Taiwanese student, and I need to work as a part-timer for two months to get this money, so it's a massive amount for me. I was highly hopeless, anxious, and lonely, and I could not even sleep well. I wish people who were scammed like me could enjoy their beautiful life and move on😢
It is extremely hard to get money back and that just adds to the distress you feel after a scam happens. I hope you have been able to listen to the rest of the videos in the playlist here on my channel, and that you are getting started in healing from this. That's a hard journey, and you can do it!
Scammers are criminals, and I totally agree with you, I sure wish they would leave people alone and let them live their lives in peace.

I feel for you honestly as I just got scammed for like 250 USD from Facebook marketplace today and i can’t even sleep because of it. The one thing it did teach me was that people can be very scummy and heartless and take advantage of your trust and naivety. Also to never trust random people online and send money like that. It was my first time ever doing something like this and i learned a valuable lesson today.
That loss of trust in people is so difficult, isn't it? I want to trust people too, but I'm with you, it is important to stay on guard and remember that there are heartless people, but also don't cut yourself off from people too much either! God bless you ma'am, today i got scammed for just $20 but i felt so upset and decided to tell my friends. Once i did they all made fun of me for it and made me feel worse. So hearing kind these such kind words made me feel a lot better, thank you very much ma'am.

What makes me feel really bad is that the scam was so obvious that I even questioned and asked the scammer .. is it a scam ? Like i just don’t understand why and how my brain just stopped working and it was so clear and i was an easy victim
There are so many psychological tricks that scammers use to take advantage of a person, and I'd encourage you to explore those a bit. If you listened to all the videos in this playlist, that topic is covered, and you can also look up persuasion techniques, cognitive biases, and manipulation to figure out some of them. They aim to bypass your cognitive abilities using all these kinds of tactics. Learning more about that will help you understand more about how it happened, and it will help you be able to guard against it just in case it ever happens again. I just got in this situation I feel devastated amount was almost $800 using my CC I feel very sad. And a shame I literally felt into that trap and the bank couldn’t do nothing it was my fault. And the merchants did not backed up the transactions. The amount of guilt I feel is the worst thing I’ve experienced. I feel angry. I hope they get their karma. But I don’t think could happen. That amount of money I don’t even use it in myself 😭. The scammers must have been laughing of how easy I fell for the trap.

The emotions people feel after a scam are often very overwhelming, and I hope that along with watching these videos, that you've been able to find ways to feel better, and to start the healing process. If there is someone close to you who can support you and who won't judge you, please talk with them about this. And also please remember, scammers are extremely good at being criminals and although we tend to be pretty harsh with ourselves, they are just too good at the manipulation tactics they use. Watch out for money recovery scams, they target people who were recently scammed. And if you are asking about financial help, you may want to start with law enforcement. If it had anything at all to do with cryptocurrency, ask law enforcement to get in touch with Erin West (San Franciso Bay Area crypto investigator). If you have a financial advisor/CPA this may be a good person to reach out to help make decisions about what you do going forward.

I got scammed with pig butchery last night. I lost a lot of my funds. I don't know what to do now and feeling stressed and anxiety. I don't know how i will recover and stand up again. 😢😢😢
I am so sad to hear that this happened to you. You will recover, and you'll start to remember that this is not the only part of who you are. Right now, it is front and center, I know it! I hope you continued to watch the videos, and I hope they are helpful. Aside from the mental health impact you feel...if this just happened last night and they used cryptocurrency to steal from you, you may want to try reaching out to law enforcement and urge them to get in touch with a specific law enforcement group in the Bay Area, headed by Erin West. You can look her up and find multiple articles, she is on LinkedIn, etc, she is legitimate. Her group is blazing the trail on crypto investigations. I understand if it is too painful to report right now, that is an extremely common way that people feel. I thought I'd mention it just in case you feel like you can.

This is going to sound crazy cause I think it’s crazy but, I work at IKEA and they offer free home delivery but, use third party companies to drive their trucks. The truck says IKEA all over it but in the corner it says Metro courier lmt. I bought a couch and the order had an error so I got it corrected but they sent two couches instead of one. The driver and his partner told me if I pay them $200 e transfer on the spot the second couch is ours. I hesitated and then paid cause they kept telling me they can’t put it back on the truck and that it’s mine no matter what. I then called IKEA and they told me I was scammed by the drivers and when I posted on ikeas Reddit page many Reddit users told me it’s a lost cause and that I was scammed right under my own gullibility. It’s only $200 but I really feel so stupid for trusting the driver and paying them.
The thing is, scammers use SO many situations to their advantage. Many, many, MANY people blame the person this happened to, but the real culprit is the scammer. They are criminals! I am so sad this happened to you, and I hope the videos have been helpful.
@@createlifepaths Thank you for your words of encouragement!! After a few days I’m starting to feel less blame on myself and instead anger against these scammers! They really do have many tactics as you said and you’re completely right! Your video series has helped me quite a bit to get over the scam emotionally and start to move forward. I’m still going to go after these scammers as I have their numbers and names and I’ll be forwarding this to IKEA. One would think they’d outsmart a scammer but these scammers are always one step ahead! You’re so right though and I can’t blame myself! That is such a difficult thing to witness. You might want to review another one of my playlists here on my channel, that is about "is this a scam or not." It is aimed at people who are in the situation trying to determine that themselves but some of that content may help you in talking to your friend. The most important thing you can do, however, is to preserve the relationship you have with your friend and ask questions to understand why your friend believes it isn't a scam, and through that, help them to come to the same conclusion as you on their own. I’m struggling to recover right now. I am a college graduate working three part time jobs at the moment. I’m trying to find a full time job that I could enjoy working and make a career out of. Last week, I was blackmailed by someone who pretended to be police officer from the Fraud Department and long story short I’ve lost everything I worked so hard to get…..$4k total. (Credit and debit)

I stumbled this I got scammed 50$ I was not cautious at all sigh
People sometimes are stolen from even when they are cautious. Scammers use so many manipulation and persuasion techniques and they use the way our brains work against us. Many times, if not every time, they follow a very structured and systematic process. It is horrible. :-( I hope you find some ways to take care of yourself and feel better very soon.

I just got scammed for 200$. I live in third world country and it was my fathers money he had been collecting it for soo long.
I wanted to surprise my sister by paying her tax. I paid this agent and he isn't replying. I feel so bad. I haven't told my parents yet.

i was scammed 120$ its not a lot but im 12 years old and that was my 5 month saving gone just like that, im convincing my self that 120$ is nothing compared to other people that have been scammed for more money.
I could hear my heart beat and also i could feel it, it felt like someone was hitting me in the chest and i started running around in my room at late night

I just been scamed i Lost 4,000 dls. Yes. And i felt in love deeply of this person ..But i Discovery the scam...but i feel alone and severe injured
I can only imagine that you would feel that way, romance scams are a deep betrayal and there is a lot of grief over what you thought the situation was. I hope you've been able to reach out to someone who can be supportive and won't be judgmental, so you won't feel so alone. I am a freelancer, I worked on a project for a week straight, did not get sleep for 5 nights straight, when I sent them the project, they didn't send me money, and that's how I got scammed 3500 USD

Really in a game bc i dont got money i was trading and stuff then after a trade basically i got scammed because its a large amount so has to be 3 different ones but its not real money but it is time wasting took a year to obtain it but i lost it in a day
I get it - it doesn't really matter how much money or whatever thing value that was taken, it was still taken from you. There are many kinds of losses that comes with scams, too, such as a loss of trust in other people. I hope these videos have helped you :-)

The latest is the truck delivering my money had an accident.
And they need $200 to get the money from the police. I told the scammer to stop lying.
And he has to pay or I report him to FBI
It was recent. 3 bad deals.

@@silviascotti4048 Please report him to the FBI anyway - you can do that at ic3.gov and please also provide as much detail as you can. They use the reports database to combine information and find where the same scammers have targeted different people. I'm so sorry this has happened to you!

The main thing I hope these resources do for you and others who have been scammed is to reduce the shame that comes up and be able to start healing from what happened. Scammers are criminals and it is kind of easy to forget that and blame yourself. It is also way to easy for people to judge and blame the victim.
