    This is the sixth video in a series that was created to help people who have been scammed, and who are having a hard time getting over it. Healing from being scammed is difficult and many people beat themselves up for a long time afterwards.
    If you are telling yourself that you are stupid and feeling a lot of shame, you are NOT alone. These are the most common and most difficult parts of the psychological recovery after you have been scammed.
    In these videos, which are based on my book (linked below), you will find coping strategies and ways to find healing for yourself.
    This video is about the effects on relationships in your life.
    Here's a link to get the book on Amazon, "The Emotional Impact of Being Scammed and How to Recover": www.amazon.com...
    Also, check out the website I've created, that has other resources you may find helpful, including (soon) a video series for family and friends, another for advocates, and a third for mental health providers. Here is the link to the website: www.ScamSurviv....
    You can reach me through that website above.
    Thanks for listening, and I hope you find healing and feel better soon!
    All my best,
    Cathy Wilson, LPC

    you're right.. i seem to can't stop thinking about it

      Yes, it takes over your thoughts, doesn't it!? The more you do to reframe this for yourself that it isn't your fault, and that a crime happened to you will help. It may also help to write down a list of other things to think about and keep it with you. It may be good memories, or a special place that gives you a feeling of peace - then when the thoughts about the scam pop up, focus on one of the things on your list instead. :-)

    Another warning, everyone. Please be cautious about anyone commenting here and claiming to be able to recover money for you. No one can do that except law enforcement, the courts, etc. Money recovery is a second attempt at scamming people who were already scammed once. There are a huge number of links that will pop up on Google for you and other pages too, and I've had a number of people add comments here and on the other videos. Please watch out for these disgusting criminals!! All my best to you all! Cathy

      That’s what the FBI victim specialist told me…about people posing as recoverers of scammed funds.

      @@juliasimpson774 Yep, it is an entirely new low level for scammers to retarget people who have already been scammed. I’m glad your victim specialist let you know about that. And whoa, it is a battle here to keep on top of them commenting on my videos. Disgusting!

    Absolutely excellent tips. Even my psychiatrist didn't mention these! Thank you for being real, down to earth, soothing. This will be hard for a while but I need to use these tools because just being panicked and anxious does not help things. Though anxiety is my battle through many times in my life.

      I am so glad that these videos were helpful to you! Thank you for commenting here to let me know. If your psychiatrist is willing, sometimes it is helpful for a supportive person to view these videos, or even one of the courses I created for mental health professionals, advocates, law enforcement, and pretty much anyone in a supportive role! So it may help you to give them a link to my channel. All my best to you!

    I did told them , but it did not help me that much. I told 6 people in my real life because I know them and when I ask them how to get my money back. It still angers me that woman played me like a fool. Like a biggest idiot. I saw the signs but I ignored them beacuse I really loved her. It makes me angry that the woman who scammed me and her people has my money. I could donated that money to charity for homless or somoene that actually need it. She told me I should not betray her, when she did that to me. She lie to me telling me she can't betray that she will meet me and return me the money. She never did. Yes it makes me angry and it makes me ashamed. I have pray so much that this woman would get punishment what she deserves. She did to others too. She basically addmited to me in June when she typed she was bad on social media.

      I commented a few minutes ago about this being betrayal, and it sounds so awful for you. You aren't an idiot - she did things on purpose to build trust, to get you to feel like you knew her, so that you would love the person she was pretending to be. She lied. I hope you keep listening to all the videos about this topic here on my channel. I also hope you find some ways to care for yourself, heal, trust again, and love again. All my best to you, Cathy

    They say to report it, but I don’t see the point because there’s no way to get the money back.

    • @createlifepaths
      @createlifepaths  3 місяці тому +2

      I completely get that. For what it's worth, there is a teeny tiny chance that your crime matches up with others that have been reported, and it gives them enough information to pursue the scammers. I don't want to give any false hope here because that's already a small chance and it is even smaller that they recover any money at all. Also for what it's worth, all reports contribute to giving us more data about scammers and scams making it more possible to stop them. Or, it's a way to strengthen our ability to prevent others from having it happen to them. An exception is that if the crime happened through cryptocurrency and is within the last 24 hours or close to that, report it to your local law enforcement and ask them to get in touch with the Santa Clara DA's office, because they have a group that is good enough that there is a little better chance at tracking them down. It has to be pretty quick after it happened though. All my best to you!

    I discovered the stolen profile that the scammers used . Is it a good idea to keep looking or explore the profile. The stolen profile is a well known celebrity in Brazil, businessnan . He has numerous of channels on social media

    • @createlifepaths
      @createlifepaths  6 місяців тому

      For some people it is helpful to look through the profile(s) of the person who had their identity stolen, and the same profile is frequently used many times in scamming. When you find that and other peoples' comments about it, it can be helpful because it helps a person feel less alone. I hope it helps you to do that - and staying aware of how you are reacting to the information you find is a good idea too. If it were to get overwhelming, just stop and decide later if you want to go back to looking or not. All my best to you!

    Are there any good support groups for this? Most of the facebook groups are public & I found one private group, but my application has been pending for days.

    • @createlifepaths

      I can tell you about two that I've heard positive feedback about. One of them is through AARP's Fraud Watch Network. They have many groups throughout each week so you can usually find one that fits your schedule. You can usually join up pretty quick, too The other is called Cybercrime Support Network. I have heard positive feedback about their groups too, but it takes longer to get into one. I think they only have one going at a time. It is very limited, and I'd say it is a good idea to be really cautious about Facebook groups - I've joined a few to see how they are and so far I've only found them crawling with money recovery scammers 🤮 One other note, there's no age or membership requirement with AARP, anyone can join.

    Lady I Have a problem. UA-cam does not let me comment videos. They dont go trough. I Have try to reply back to you. But every time I do that. UA-cam deletes my comments. I am planing to do a video tell my story. I am planing to upload on my two channels that I own, telling my story. I will Try to put it on my Facebook and Tik Tok. I dont wish to be quiet anymore. I know everyone that knows me in person will know what happened to me. But I think I want to warn people about it. I was going to ask if I can meantion you in my video and put your link in the description box of your channel? I Have not done videos for months. If you dont agree I want meantion you in my video.

      It may not be UA-cam because I have my channel set for me to approve many of the comments before they can be seen. Sorry about that. I'm doing my best to screen out money recovery scammers. They are relentless in commenting here to try and scam people again, which is infuriating!

      I think that is a good thing for you to do - telling your story helps you to process it and it is also likely to help others. I'm okay with you mentioning me and putting a link to these videos, and that sounds like it would be helpful, too! Once I have a chance to see it, if I have any issues with it, I'm hoping it will be okay to address that together! :-)
