  • I really like this antenna which I bought it with my own money. I managed to get a couple of hours spare to drive out and set up the antenna, which in itself is a good test of the portability of the antenna. At home I've made numerous long distance contacts over a few nights so I really enjoy using it.
    Dziękuję Pawel Bernecki.

    Below from ebay:
Multiband cobweb antenna works on 6 HF bands and up to 1000w.
    Bands are 14, 18, 21, 24, 28, 50 MHz
This antenna has sides of the square 2.65 x 2.65 m, and is very useful where space is limited.
This antenna works well as an antenna for your base but equally well as portable for holidays and field work due to it’s folding boom arms.
It’s unique design allows this antenna to be quickly and easily set up within a few minutes.
It’s design is very strong and robust, and is resistant to strong winds.
The antenna is contructed from glass fibre rods, aluminum, stainless steel and galvanized steel and has a sealed connector box resistant to rain and UV rays to keep the balun and connections from the elements.
The antenna has an impedance of 50 ohm.
The antenna works well on DX and as a QRP station.
It is pre-tuned to different bands at a height of 4 metres above the ground. Raising the antenna above 4m will generally see SWR decrease.
Bandwidth on 6 and 10m may require the use of an ATU to cover more of the band..
This antenna is omni-directionally so you do not need a rotator.
It is made up of folded half-wave dipoles for 14,18,21,24,28,50 MHz
Polarisation is horizontal and is naturally resistant to some electrical interference and static.
    Large system efficiency to 95%.
    Technical details
    Socket -- UC1 / SO239
    Horizontally polarised
    Radiation Omni-Directional
    Max power supplied 1000 Watt
    Antenna gain 5 dBi
    Minimum SWR 1.1: 1
Can accommodate any mast up to 52mm in diameter.
    Weight 4.2 kg.
    Square sides of 2.6

I just purchased one today. I can't wait to get it and put it up at my QTH. Your video helped me to make the decision. 73,N1XXU

What a nice antenna, it looks very formidable but you show it tobe quite portable and quite easy to setup, I have heard guys/gals on the air using this type on an antenna and they really like it. Thank you for sharing.

Nice mate - I have one of these but haven't used it for ages. My uncle came round and used it as a washing line! I am not kidding - I was setting it up in the back garden and he understandably realised it has a second function. 😀

Love this video! As a fellow Disco owner and HAM myself, this has many of my favorites in one spot!
I run a Kenwood TS480SAT in my Disco II with a 20M ham-stick in the roof. Good results thus far.

I’ve had a Cobweb antenna for about 8 years and it’s always been a consistent performer only to be outdone bya Hexbeam. Sadly it’s down now pending a house move and miss it. Thanks for posting 73 Mike

I had one up years ago but it struggled to keep up with the multiband vertical i had at the time. A lot do have great results with these though so maybe it was just my location ..Love the Stance on that Disco…Thanks for the Video Carl..73’s

Great video, yes I have one and it is (was) the best omnidirectional antenna. Where there is a lot of light there is also shadow. 1. Very narrow band. 2. extremely sensitive to moisture and 3. very sensitive to a lot of snow. Mine was totally destroyed this year and the elements were completely pushed down. And now I'm thinking about whether I should buy or build one again.

Nice presentation Carl. I have lots of ferrite clamps on both ends of all my cables, just in case.
My mate in Spain has a cobweb, he gets me most weeks on cw or ssb, so should be hearing you soon, especially with the bands being wide open recently. Let's see some g stns working proper dx on UA-cam.
Take care and look forward to your next installment using that ant.

Ps copy from Internet. "Unless your house (or the building in which you live) is in a designated area, you do not need to apply for planning permission to install an antenna on your property, as long as: there will be no more than two antennas on the property overall."

I’m going to try it out with the antenna that comes with the radio. I’ve recently recharged the battery I replaced and blew the dust off the antenna. Just need a bit of time and someone to have a QSO with.

I have a question to ask about the antenna mount and the mast....whats the minimum diameter pole that can be used with this antenna? Im thinking around 1.5"? Also does those sections on the mast slide out and stop once they are at their full length? Ive got a cheap aluminium one which a few times I've gone past the limit and I've had a few lairy moments!

Exactly the same antenna I have in my garden 👍 really nice antenna but watch out for water attacking the swr after a while unless you have it well sealed ! 73s M7CYC

What in specific needs to be sealed?

    • @mharrison557
      @mharrison557 6 місяців тому +1

@99Puddin I've found the box that contains the so 239 sometimes allows water in during high winds and torrential rain so I sealed around where all the wires enter .. this has kept my swr down ..

I have just built a 28mhz ground mounted vertical , I use it portable , it receives great, but to get the best out of it i have discovered I have to have it located at least 10m away from van so it doesnt interact, i wonder how your cobweb would behave when you get some distance between it and truck?

    • @M0SZT
      @M0SZT  9 місяців тому

Yes I wish I could measure the effects of the environment on the antenna performance

Great video. Not sure I would like to carry one in a Rucksack when portable though. I would image you would need planing permission on a house. Not sure what rules are these days. I would be interested to know about permission. Maybe you could do a video answering this. Cheers from old George.

Antennas and planning permission is best described by people who live and breath planning permission and infringements. I would advise watch RSGB talks 👍
