These videos create a serious conflict for me. I want to play ham radio, but now I'm hungry. Thanks Carl...thanks alot.

Nothing better than a real fire to make you feel cosy.

So lovely to have a completely noise free reception. This is how it used to be in the 7Os/80s before switch mode and computers.

I don't know much about short wave but enjoy watching you camped out and communicating from the field. Much better than watching someone in a ham shack. Very much like your cooking also.

Your concept of making your videos sure is comforting of how I find it. It's very different. Cozy ham shack and a hot meal in such weather conditions truely is a nice combination. Something that I hope can do one day. 73, DW1QEW.

What a great video again Carl, I love watching your videos more than most other channels, it’s good and honest with everything left in, lovely cozy fire, good food and radio. Now I’m out of hospital I can build that efhw kit and start saving to get an hf radio and maybe have a chat on air with you. It was watching your videos that got me to take my foundation licence (I took my test from my hospital bed) Many thanks and hope you are keeping well? M7RGK 73’s

Carl, I really did enjoy this most relaxing and appetizing video, and to make it really more perfect, if one can do that, you have a nice wood fire, some great food that you are preparing, thank you for sharing, and until the next video stay warm and radio active!

With the squeeky Radio noises and the Cat it brought to mind "Pet Sounds" the Album rather than Ham sounds.. enjoyed the video cheers ;-)

Another nice video Carl. For me it's a toss up whether to bring the IC-7300 or the IC-705 on outings. Sometimes running the QRP radio feels like I'm fishing with a brick. I need to find a nearby Sheppard's Hut get away spot. Cheers!

You can’t beat good food, a nice roaring fire, and amateur radio in a nice quiet secluded place.
I look forward to doing this every Spring, and try to get in as many “camp outs” as possible until the nasty cold make it not as pleasant as one would hope for.
Always thinking about a winter camp out. But I feel it would be way to much work and time spent trying to keep myself warm, and not enough time spent playing ham radio.
I really want to do a “ Winter Field Day” but trying to operate out in the elements on a frozen overnight will take loads of planing to stay warm.

Good video Carl, any length radial on the ground will work, elevated radials are better tuned, so don't worry about your radials or your cq technique, just have fun and chill mate.

I often enjoy listening in on a good rag chew while cooking or doing chores as well. With the IC705 and a pair of Bose earbuds, I can also actively engage in a QSO as well, hands-free. Nothing like multitasking!
I wonder if the half-moon metal railing had anything to do with your compromised transmitting.

Great video - as a newb I’m tempted to get a radio and I keep reading the 7300 is better then 705 but I’m not interested in transmitting and understand the 705 can receive more frequencies and is lighter so seems like a good option

Have you pre-marked the m1ecc antenna for each band or do you just have a rough idea of the location for the sliding ring?
Home cooked food and a fire :-)

Nothing better than put up an antenne in a field, FAR away from routers, smartphone crap, trees, solar panels, and electricity pylons.
