    So glad to hear that you are back. You don’t remember me but I am a sea kayaker and a ham radio operator, abet much older than you. You are having the adventures that I always wanted to have, but never got around to doing. You have the perfect shack, location, arrival by water, and plenty of space. You have the perfect spot. I hope that you continue with enthusiasm. Tommy, N4KBM

      Thanks Tommy, glad you are enjoying the videos. Combining the two things I love doing makes perfect sense to me, and I get to operate from some great places and work great DX by taking advantage of saltwater. Thanks for watching…

    Great job! Thanks for the video. I enjoyed the tranquility of the kayaking. Congratulations on the portable station setup - a really efficient antenna, particularly as it is, so near the salt water. The FT891 is a superb radio! Thanks for all your other insights. Happy kayaking and enjoy the radio! 73, Mike M0MTJ

    Always love to see the packing shed adventures. It’s just a great combination radio and a bit of paddling.

      Thanks Phil, the secret is in the saltwater. Get yourself out portable with a vertical by the sea and see what you can work😊

    DXing is much more exciting at VHF and UHF.

    • @2e0wmghamradioandkayaking85
      @2e0wmghamradioandkayaking85  Місяць тому +2

      Maybe, and I have had some great fun on VHF and UHF but with no antennas at home I operate almost exclusively portable or mobile and openings on VHF and UHF are a bit more fleeting in nature, so I am not always in the right place at the right time. When I have worked DX on VHF it still gives me the same buzz as HF.

      I live in the south of England, love picking up VHF/UHF from the continent.

    Hardly lost enthusiasm when you're up at 04:30, and yes, I would have politely declined. I reckon you should put a Speedwatch camera on your wish list. Graeme, M0NAC

      Thanks Graeme, I got up at 3.30am so was on the water for 4.30. I should have gone over the night before but the tides didn’t work for taking one of the launches. Hope to see you Thursday…

      i was hoping to see a cheap HF radio to come out on the kayak :D but still, it was quite relaxing watching the kayaking tbh, i enjoyed it, its nice to see more of the environment and the shack is on an island - what an amazing location !!

      On the face of it kayaking has nothing to do with ham radio but my channel is called 2E0WMG ham radio and kayaking so the clue is in the name. I combine my two passions and often use my kayak to get to out of the way, otherwise hard to get two places. A lot of my subscribers enjoy it. I have no intention of changing anything. If this channel is not for you then fair enough.

      Thanks, exactly what many of my comments reflect. Including a few that have been inspired to do similar things. I use several different radios when out in the kayak including a Xiegu G90 and a Xiegu X6100. So far I’ve not been tempted to take my Icom 7300 or Yaesu FT-897. I don’t have a dry bag big enough😀 Thanks for watching.
