Because I heard that blood test (even for the vitamins & minerals which can be tested from blood) is not a right way to find the deficiency because body tries to maintain the levels of vitamins and minerals in blood by compromising other functions hence blood tests are not accurate measurement of deficiencies. this is is complex enough for us to request your expert opinion on this. Iceberg lettuce was stressed to my son when he was diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma stage 4. Iceberg lettuce is loaded with folate. The Docs told my son to stuff himself with salads, and get the lettuce in every day, every meal. We did that and he’s still here, killin it! That’s not all, but it contributed to it.

my wife found out she had a folate deficiency, she would have canker sores in her mouth almost all the time, recently they were so bad she couldn’t eat without intense pain. I finally got her to go get a blood panel where it was discovered. she loves salads which is puzzling as to why she had the deficiency. couple months later on supplements and now the sores are gone.
Gut sometimes in some people can't work properly to absorb folate from food even rich with folate they eat. It's something an error that gut bear innately or acquire later during life.

MTHFR WAS NOT addressed in this video but is a major cause of folate methylation problems, as well as b12 issues. A video addressing this topic would be helpful.

Look up MTHFR. If you have it, your ability to absorb Vit B9 is impaired . Learn the difference between folic acid and folate. They are not the same. The only form should be methylated. Good luck. Your comment was insightful.
And mention the fact that folate as folic acid is vitually usless becuase of SNP's in enzymes needed to convert it to 5-Methyltertrahydrofolate (5-MTHF) which plant don't have, has to be got from animal sources (mainly organs and eggs). Also need folate to prevent homocysteine accumulation and to help make glutathione, along with cobalamin and pyrodoxine (P-5-P).
Good to know! When I log my food into cronometer, I am consistently low in folate. Seeing this led me to purchase a Methyl Folate supplement. I was wondering if I should increase my veggies also...you have given me food for thought.

@@fragilechords5118 Pork or lamb liver isn't too bad. Chicken or duck if you can get it. Beef can be strong. I normally grind or blend liver and add to ground (minced) meat with spices like mustard and tomato puree and lots of salt. I do eat raw liver from time to time, but I doubt you'll do that. If you can't tolerate it then it's probably better to stick to a L-5-MTHF supplement. Plants are just not going to cut it for folate. Even vegans have folate deficiencies even with all the plants, wrong form, poor absorption from antinutrients and lack of B6 and B12.

What about the dangers of too much Vitamin B? My elderly mother was taking a Vitamin B supplement and was experiencing brain fogging. The doctors took her off of it and she is doing much better. ??
Most supplements are not manufactured correctly. Dr Berg's and a very few others do good but you have to search a long time before finding good solutions.
I've been taking folic acid 20mg daily for several years, and am the only one in my family without need of a hearing aid (70 years old). Folic acid and hearing loss? Look it up!

Why is meat and liver recommended for folate consumption instead of legumes and lentils? As ive seen lentils contain much high levels of folate and other nutrients that are complementary to it?

@@fragilechords5118 Pork or lamb liver isn't too bad. Chicken or duck if you can get it. Beef can be strong. I normally grind or blend liver and add to ground (minced) meat with spices like mustard and tomato puree and lots of salt. I do eat raw liver from time to time, but I doubt you'll do that. If you can't tolerate it then it's probably better to stick to a L-5-MTHF supplement. Plants are just not going to cut it for folate.
Even vegans have folate deficiencies even with all the plants, wrong form, poor absorption from antinutrients and lack of B6 and B12.

Also, some of us have methylation errors c/o snp's (gene defects) so have to take methylated folic acid rather than synthetic version. Or make green juices every day.

What about the dangers of too much Vitamin B? My elderly mother was taking a Vitamin B supplement and was experiencing brain fogging. The doctors took her off of it and she is doing much better. ??
Most supplements are not manufactured correctly. Dr Berg's and a very few others do good but you have to search a long time before finding good solutions.

@@ngs5554 I'm looking into it; my folic acid intake started before the methylfolate info was widely dispersed; it apparently has the same hearing benefits as folic acid. It is also plausible it is the folic acid that has been slowing down my recovery from non-alcoholic fatty liver...

It’s hard to compare vitamin D3 and B 9 , because are doing different things, but B 9 sounds to me as even more important
it is! Folate/folic acid are one the anti aging elixir. While the D3 are for immune system and bone strengthening.

Why is meat and liver recommended for folate consumption instead of legumes and lentils? As ive seen lentils contain much high levels of folate and other nutrients that are complementary to it?
