    Michael is clearly a naturally gifted driver at an exceptionally high standard, more so than Damon. However knowing his car was damaged he ran Damon off the track. About Hill move? - Im a Racer in real life. If you see a guy in front making mistakes, going on the grass, coming back in tarmac, being slower in corner, trying to close the gap moving left-right - you WILL try to overtake him! Hill did exactly what a driver must do. MS did a very bitchy thing. Why? Because MS KNEW his car was slightly damaged. So way he was thinking is ''My car is damaged, lets damage his car too''. That is selfish, not tolerated, and not sportive at all.

      Senna perfected the "chop" a long time before Schumacher started driving. If Prost was creeping past, Senna simply pushed him off the track by slowly moving the car over so there was no room. What he did is no better. He also did that to Nigel Mansell during qualifying for the Brazilian GP in 1992. Should have been sent to start at the back for that.

      And the planned crash that Helped Senna win 1990 F1 Title??
      Senna and Prost, locked in a close battle for the 1990 title, started at the front of the pack with Senna on the pole. Prost, driving a Ferrari, moved quickly in front, forcing Senna to try to regain the lead by passing from the inside. But as Prost maneuvered his car to the right for the first turn of the course, the Brazilian then collided with ferrari driver, sending parts of Ferrari and his McLaren-Honda flying into the air. Both drivers spun out into the dirt and later walked off the track.
      Prost could lodged a formal protest on it I think.

    • @nartho
      @nartho 6 років тому +47

      In this case, I defend Senna: 1 year earlier, Prost threw the car over Senna, but Senna managed to recover and win the race, but was punished (by the always corrupt FIA). Senna simply took revenge 1 year later. Prost did not complain because he had done exactly the same.

      RedPhroggz he didn‘t ignore it. It was up to his team to order him back into the pit, which they didn‘t do. Not his fault.
      Not to forget that the black flag was unwarranted anyway considering that race control didn‘t properly communicate to the team that Schumacher had to do a stop-and-go penalty. They thought the penalty would be added up after the race.
      What happened at Silverstone 1994 was by all means not Schumacher‘s fault. Getting disqualified for that race and banned from two other races because of an communication error was absolutely way too cruel.
      It was pretty clear how the FIA desperately tried to close the gap between Schumacher & Hill.

    The more I watch it, the more I'm becoming convinced that it was a racing incident. Schumacher holds the racing line after his off-track excursion, Hill comes from behind and Schumacher steers in when Hill is still clearly behind him, it's thus Schumacher's corner to take. However, Hill carries more speed as a result of Schumacher going off track, so Schumacher could have misjudged the speed that Hill had, making it a race incident. Now Schumacher could have crashed on Hill on purpose, but of course this would be impossible to prove by the stewards as it was Schumacher's corner to take. Looking at this objectively, the stewards could have only decided this to be a racing incident and they did so. Personally I think they made the right call, everything else is merely speculation.

    Very hard not to be cynical about this in the light of what happened at Jerez 97. It's why I've never been able to hold Schumacher in the same esteem as Senna, Prost and Clarke.
    The argument against that from Schumacher fans is usually highlighting that Senna did the same at Suzuka 1990. It's true he did but that was a statement against being screwed by Balestre and the FIA and not for the first time either. That doesn't make it right but it does make it significantly less cynical than this and Jerez 97.

      you havent seen Senna have you? while im also a schumacher fan i used to be a greater mansell fan therefore i usually ruled against senna but in a retrospective i regard senna as the greatest and my favorite driver ever.
      well let me tell you that also prost and senna played with dirty tricks.
      so let me quote the very senna ''its not to come 3rd, 4th, 5th or 6th, I race to win as long as I feel its possible''
      if you understand that , you understand racing and you understand what schumacher did.

    • @Mr.Monaco94
      @Mr.Monaco94 8 років тому +7

      Let me quote you another Senna statement which clarifies the difference between Suzuka 89/90, Adelaide 94 and Jerez 97 - "some people can become champion in a chicane, now I too have become champion in a corner". So without using Senna's quotes to justify MS's actions in 94/97 can you pls tell us what was the reason he threw his car at DH and JV other then knowing full well that he lost the championship?
      Here is the unbelievable factor that no MS seems to grasp, both Prost and Senna did NOT need to do what they did in order to win the 89/90 titles. Firstly, all Prost had to do in 89 was to finish 2nd and he would have won the title fair and square. Likewise, all Senna had to do in 1990 was to even not battle with AP and let him win the race, and there he would have been champion. Can you smell the different between these 4 events? Trying to put them all in the same pot shows a clear lack of basic understanding of F1 history - this is all on record.
      So are we supposed to believe that MS's actions in 94/97 was pure racer instinct or cowardice behaviour and inability to beat his opponent fair and square???? How can people place MS as the greatest ever when the title really came to a head to head fight he balked 4-5 times. In other words he won only 1 in 5 attempts - 2000. The other 4 he lost fair and square - 94/97/98/03. Yes 2003 he won the title but did he beat KR in that race?
      In contrast Senna beat his opponents 3/4 times on the decisive race - 88/89/91. If he wasn't so preoccupied with teaching those 2 French bastards a lesson he would have done the same in 1990. Here is a little reading material from those inside the business that know far more then me and you that corroborates what I have just said - www.grandprix.com/ft/ftdt046.html.

    • @X8Mori
      @X8Mori 7 років тому

      I also think that MS watched the battles between Senna and Prost. He saw them cheat one another and misunterstood the moral of the story. So he thought he could do everything, fair or not, in order to win, because so they did before him.
      There is a big difference though. Prost and Senna did their tricks once. They both felt being tricked by the other, and having the right to take what they felt belonged to them. They did what they did in exceptional circumstances. More, Senna showed no joy for the title he stole to Prost (and Ferrari), he was quite sad on that day because he knew what he did.
      MS made tricking a rule on his winning history. He did it first with Hill (who didn't make anything to deserve it) and then with Villeneuve (the same as Hill). He was happy the first time (because he succeded in that) and sad the second one (because he was disqualified).
      I say this just to make some point very clear. Not to talk bad of MS now, this would be unfair.

    • @edwardharris9810
      @edwardharris9810 8 років тому

      Mr18000rpm F1 and the FIA were totally different back in 1990 as it was run (or rather ruled) by Jean-Marie Balestre and despite the fact that Balestre often favored (fellow Frenchman) Prost, he knew that the whole world would look at it as him giving the title to his fellow Frenchman (I'll try and find the book I read this in, and send you the direct quote) 1997 was so different we all watched the in car footage and saw Michael turn right in to the Williams, so the FIA had no choice but to act. I always thought it was a strange punishment given that all it means is Schmacher doesn't appear in the final standings of the 97 World Championship, I mean when you think about it we all know what happened during the 97 season!!

They deprived him of points for a fair victory in Belgium, disqualified him for two races because he passed Hill on the warm-up lap, and all this in order to attract spectators to the fight for the championship title. In addition, Hill could just wait, and attack Schumacher in the next straight. Schumacher's car was damaged, so why did Hill rush to the attack? (I apologize for my English)

      Exactly, would've been interesting to get an answer from schumacher on this: was the front suspension damaged before crashing with hill? His impact with the wall was at very low speed, can't be sure looking at it, would have needed to see what would've happened in a straight, cause in such a slow speed corner you don't notice it, but if you got issues with wheels and such you would go at 150 vs 300 kmh in a straight even at the time.

      Ramy harb Chill man. Hill won only 2 races when Schuey was neither banned or disqualified. Hill won 1 of those 2 only in Spain because Michael was stuck in 5th gear for most of the race and still finished 2nd. Let us not forget some of those bans were only for the plank being just 2mm thin after the famous spin on the ripple strip in Spa when he was way ahead and intimidating Hill on the parade lap. It was a year of new regulations and other teams such as Mclaren and Ferrari had cheat issues which I think many were misinterpretations of new rules. Schuey was just as dominant in 95 without cheat issues and stupid mistakes by Hill crashing into Michael i.e, British GP. At the end of the 95 season, Berger and Alessi drove the Beneton and both said it was 'undriveable'. Schuey responded by saying that if they drove it at the start of the season, they would have spun it in pit lane. Coulthard recently said that he was never in the same league as Michael and Hill was the same. In 96, while Schuey was driving around in a piece of junk, Hill was only able to win a title virtually by default. Here is the link to the fairly recent Coulthard interview. www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/motorsport/formulaone/michael-schumacher/10543292/I-only-hope-Michael-Schumacher-pulls-through-so-that-he-can-see-all-the-nice-things-people-are-saying-about-him.htm

    In the context of the rules at the time, Schumacher turning into the corner on the racing line was considered a clean move! To understand the precedents by which the Hill/Schumacher collision was judged, you have to look no further than the Prost/Senna incident at Suzuka 1989, where Alain Prost aggressively defended the racing line in very much the same manner.
    In simple terms, the driver ahead had the right to take the racing line and in contrast to today, there really was 0 obligation for drivers to leave each other space in a contested situation. Other incidents worth comparing this to is the Senna/Schumacher collision at Kyalami in 1993 or even the 1990 Berger/Mansell incident at Imola.
    Now many people have claimed that the Schumacher's Benetton B194 was damaged to the point where a continuation of the race would have been impossible. Not only does this erroneously assume that Schumacher had enough time or frankly enough information to make this kind of assessment, it also ironically begs the question of why Hill didn't pull over right away when he much more clearly could see that his car was damaged.

    Re: Senna accusation of "traction control"
    Let me educate you with some facts, that, like every other report about this subject, are simply ignored ..
    There are literally hundreds of F1 Journalists, many of them seasoned veterans.
    At pre-season release, Ferrari bought out their 1994 car and started to lap Fiorano test track A dozen Journos immediately, that's IMMEDIATELY, recognized that the car had traction control embarrassing the hell out of Ferrari, who basically said "oops".
    My point is clear, those seasoned Journos who go to every race weekend, and many test sessions, and who know what a F1 cars sounds like, IMMEDIATELY recognised the sound of traction control.
    Then how the fuck did those same Journos never notice that the Bennetton had traction control in 1994 ....
    Now further, lets mention all those engineers for all the other teams trackside, as well as the pitcrews, they all not only know what traction control sounds like, some of them even design and built the systems, .
    BUT NOT ONE SINGLE ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE WHO KNOW THE SOUND OF TRACTION CONTROL, ever mentioned the Bennetton having traction control.
    ... except for one pissed off driver who's ego couldn't tolerate being beaten and had to find reason in the car, not the driver who was beating him. Senna. ... and all the Fanboys immediately and blindly believed him, without evidence or substance (that's scary in itself) and have been accusing Schumacher for cheating since that day.
    What a fucking load of crock, stemming from pissed off British who can't accept that Hill was shit. Prost walked all over his times, as did Senna, then to rub it in, Mansell came out of retirement and thrashed Hill in 1994 qualifying for pole for just those 2 races he ran. A fat, unfit Mansell that is, sill blew the doors off Hill.
    Hill won 6 races, 4 that were the races Schumacher wasn't in or removed from the result (a worn plank after his spin at Spa riding the plank along the kerb that caused the plank rule to be changed, which of course is never mentioned, or that he was miles in the lead at the time), Hill won at Silverstone where Williams developed their cars, but oh yeah, lost by 1 point after his failed dive when Schumacher was in front, and it was his turn to command - get a fucking life.
    Now you want to discuss Launch Control? Why is the British GP of 1994 start never mentioned? Hill drove away from the pack without wheelspin (Schumacher had smoke pouring off his tyres) and had a 100 meter lead in 300 meters - tell me based on all the cheat theories offered here why that wasn't launch control. The evidence used for accusing Benneton, is actually even worse for Williams here ... the best start in F1 history ...
    Listen to what Murray walker says:
    ua-cam.com/video/NLJrP0NEJZs/v-deo.html
    Go watch the start of the French GP. On the warmup start, Schumacher does a massive burnout, and then starts on his freshly laid rubber just like the drag racers do, no surprise he got a great start, and why they don't all do it every race is confusing to me. Like drag racers don't know what they are doing for the best starts?
    2.43 minutes, Schumacher does one of the biggest burnouts I have ever seen in F1 for his warm up start ...
    ua-cam.com/video/Up3R1y-DdXc/v-deo.html
    See what i am doing here? I'm providing factual evidence of events, not trumped up bullshit overtones without substance.
    At the end of the day, the premise is that Schumacher had traction control because Senna said so, for fucks sake. Trumped up bullshit from pissed off British who like to change F1 history to suit themselves.

      I have one observation to make re your rant, just for a very short time, place
      YOURSELF in Damon Hills car watching ms completely ballsing it up........ Now comment you number crunching nerd,
      Racing isn't just about numbers, you're forgetting the Passion involved in the sport and by doing so you exclude what we all are and that is very very human and so, fallible,
      enjoy your abacus
      We humans will include our hearts in our passions
      You Max Headroom Moron
      Damon Hill
      True Gentleman of the sport
      I spoke with him in Melbourne
      Peace Out

      @@russellwiley2484 What? LOL, less drugs Mate.
      Damon Hill was a slow driver, he openly admits that himself before you get all excited, he puts it down to his motorcycle racing making him turn in smoothly rather than rotating the car like Formula drivers learn from Karting days, those are HIS WORDS. Senna was much faster, Mansell comes into the team for 2 races n 1994 after 2 years out of the sport, and puts in on pole position both times in front of Hill.
      But I applaud him for achieving what he did, he knew his limits, and drove accordingly, it worked out well for him, and I think his '96 WDC was deserved. Not one of the great Championships, but deserved.
      I have no idea what you are talking about otherwise, Schumacher was in front, he had the choice of line because he was in front, and he did not veer from the racing line.
      Schumacher was in front, and Hill was behind, I can write that in Chinese if you don't understand English: 'Shumacher shi qian mian, he Hill shi hou mian', does that help?
      It's hysterical that every other similar incident in F1 history, is the guy's behind fault, even Albons taking out Magnusson at Silverstone two weekends ago.
