  • At one horrific point, the blackjack team I co-managed was down nearly half a million dollars. In this video, I’m going to share with you what got us to that point, how we ultimately climbed out of it, and what exactly you need to know to avoid making our mistakes.

    Hey Colin, thank you so much for your videos. You have inspired me to start on the AP journey. In the beginning, I had little confidence I would be able to actually achieve the perfect game. Now with around 45 hours of training and about 15 hours of back counting at the tables, I have started to recognize I CAN do it (with some more practice). You really are a true inspiration. I can’t wait to have a perfect game and take the casinos money. Thank you so much!

    Hey Colin, I wanna get your opinion on this, I am still in the process of trying to perfect my game so I’ve got a small bankroll I can set aside for when I get into the casinos (about 1k) I live in Canada so many casinos are still recovering from lockdown and closure, local casinos have a minimum bet of $25-$50 at most places, $15 if it’s a good day of the week. Some also don’t have great rules, I was wondering if it would be smarter to get started now on those lower mins and start building EV or if I should wait for table mins to be consistently low and keep perfecting my game

    • @T-Vegas
      @T-Vegas 2 роки тому +4

      Say your best advice is to keep perfecting your game, and saving up a bankroll until you can get some lower minimums. $25 minimums is going to eat away at $1,000 really quick, unless you come across some incredible positive variance. I Wouldn't consider regularly playing $25 minimums until you get at least $10,000. I've given up $1,000 in one day playing $10 minimum tables (I've also won over $1,000 in one day at the same tables). You don't want to risk your entire bankroll by over betting and get crushed by a negative swing. So, you may have to end up waiting a long time, unfortunately.

    • @raven7389
      @raven7389 2 роки тому +2

      At $25 my downswings have been $400 $500 just waiting for at least a +1.8 true to ramp bets. No way $1,000 would be enough for more than a $5 table (assuming a 10-1 spread) for 4 to 8 hours depending on your level risk tolerance.

      Hey.. keep your head up.. we’ve all been there. Listen to what Collin is saying here. Regroup, reevaluate and make adjustments where improvement can be identified. I was a lone player in the Midwest. Back then there were only a few local options to frequent. On the days where I was losing more than 25K, I beat myself up thinking, this is more than some people make in a year. Gone in less the 4 hours. The take away being, you have a million or had, in your bankroll. You can do it again. Trust the math and maybe take a trip out to have your game evaluated from a non biased source. These guys are legit and when these things happen, it’s best to regroup and get back to the basics..
      You got this.. your next problem will be getting backed off before you know it.
      Good luck..🙏👍

    After a year and a half of no casinos open here in Manitoba, Canada, I finally got the chance to play blackjack again two weeks ago. I was a little worried my card counting skills would suck badly even though I have done some practicing over that time. I lost $200 as the count was not high enough to do any good betting, the dealer was hitting everything and it was just a slow trickle. I pulled out my last $85 and then went gang busters. I was counting perfectly, the count went ridiculously high and stayed that way for about 4 hands. So I increased my bet spread from $10 to $40, played two hands and was splitting my 10s (much to the horror of the lady playing beside me) Nailed every one and in just two shoes, I made back my $200 plus another $190. It felt good. I wished I lived closer to the casino where I could develop some good skills and EV.

So my overall advantage was almost what the roulette wheel takes. I had losing streaks, but not what you experienced. I had a 20 hand losing streak twice, but one of those ended up being a winning session. I started another session with 14 consecutive losses, and that also ended up being a winning session. If you could help me out: I'm playing in Europe and my bankroll is 1,000$ with a table min of 1$, the game rules are normal(H17, no surrender) double deck. What should my bet spread look like? What should I bet according to the true count? Back offs aren't a problem so I don't mind an aggressive spread. I would by the BJA pro-betting software but it's expensive and my bankroll is pretty small. Thanks 🙏.

    As someone who plays poker and roulette, I like to balance risk against reward all the time. To minimise variance it appears to me that going straight to bigger bets as soon as the count is in your favour may cost you a lot of money if many big bets go against you. I don't know if you do this at all but I think applying a 'Martingale' system to the betting when the count goes in your favour would reduce variance greatly.

    • @stephenbeckman208
      @stephenbeckman208 2 роки тому

      From what I'm reading online, the martingale system isn't mathematically sound and appears to rather just make you feel better in the short term. The bet size at any given point is a calculation task where there is a "best" answer which is based on what you are trying to achieve (in this case maximum return without exceeding an overall risk of ruin of some value like 2%).

    • @treasurewuji8740

      Even when the count is high, you are risking a serial of losing hands.

    • @dannyneff4195
      @dannyneff4195 2 роки тому

      He has a few videos on betting strategies, the problem with martingaling is you will eventually hit the table limit, or if you had extremely high limits you'd eventually risk your whole bankroll to get back to even and what if you lose then? The only mathematically sound way is to increase your bet when the count increases and therefore your advantage increases and decrease your bet size when the odds are in the house favor, the only reliable way to calculate this odds is perfect running count and accurate true count conversion

    Has anyone seen MG21 blackjack videos? He starts with a pretty decent bankroll (usually $25-$50K; avg starting wager $500/hand). He doesn't count cards, uses basic strategy & varies his bets from 1-3 hands. He seems to do pretty well.

      He's definitely not being completely honest on his channel. He'll raise his bets in negative counts and bet way too much. I also saw one vid scrolling through his channel of him showing off a penthouse suite he was staying in, which the casino wouldn't let him do if he wins consistently. My best guess is he either doesn't show all his losses or he has some kind of deal with the Casinos where he plays a winning game and they get free marketing from his channel.

    I think your thinking on job vs investment is backwards. Through all of your vids one thing that comes out clearly: this is not easy, takes time, and takes effort. That sounds like a job to me. My investments are where I stick money and forget about it.
    It seems to me that a player's bankroll *should* take into account the expenses, like any business must. If your one-person business has to pay $10K in rent but generates only $9K in revenue per month, you can't say, "well, my business is profitable if I take out the expenses and pay for those out of this 'other' money". Get a cheaper hotel, eat ramen, lower expenses but if the EV over the long haul doesn't pay for the expenses you're not profitable.

    • @markuseckstein1966
      @markuseckstein1966 2 роки тому +1

      Quite so. Collin gets a lot of things wrong from a business perspective. The simple reason why, according to the numbers he provides, they were over performing in the beginning, was because they’ve overestimated the size of their bankroll (because they paid all expenses from the same stash of money) and therefore gambled at a much higher risk than they estimated. Higher risk, higher profits until the luck turns. Don’t even get me started on ROI on card counting, and he always avoids giving away much in his videos on that subject, I think there’s hardly any investment opportunities one could do worse at. So yes, these videos are entertaining, but that’s about it in my view.
