Casino is given to take advantage of you by taking all your money 💰, legally by the gaming commission. Short of advertising in the billboards stating that all suckers welcome.
Never fail to tip the people serving you too. Especially the dealers. Dealers ARE NOT against the players. Quite the opposite in fact, they make minimum wage from the Casino and only survive on tips so, unless youre acting like a drunken obnoxious asshole, they WANT you to win so youre more likely to tip well.
I called to find out the safety precautions during covid. I was told that I only needed to wear a mask. As I walked across the Casino floor I quickly learned they had lied to me. Everyone else was also wearing their clothes. How embarrissing.
That's true, you could do that, but you're still wasting your time. Your time would be better spent with something else, surely, than squandering it getting a soft drink for free. Especially since it won't be worth what you'd spend in gasoline driving there and back. Even if you ride a free shuttle, it's a lot of time spent to get something of very little value.
I went to Crown Casino in Melbourne Australia with 5000 in my pocket with the purpose of playing on the 100 minimum table. About 30 minutes later with stacks and stacks of chips I was invited to the Teak room which was more private and gave free drinks and food and had higher table limits. I couldn't do anything wrong...I didn't lose one single bet. The best one was when I put down a 4000 bet and got blackjack, I picked up my 6000 and went and cashed in my chips. I walked out of there with 33,600, a full stomach and a gut full of bourbon. A very happy day for me!
When you say you couldn’t do anything wrong do you mean you were just being lucky or using basic strategy? Also how did you play ? Did you raise your bets ? How many decks ? I have a 3:2 table minimum $10 and I’m pretty good I usually start with $40 and go to $200 then cash out and rinse
I had the same dumb luck, way too drunk and playing purely on wild hunches, on my fist night of a week-long cruise. Won about four times the cost of my entire vacation, and just placed 90% of it with the ship's pursor until we disembarked at the end. Zero skill involved that night. just the pure dumb luck of a drunk.
You'd be surprised how often Casino's get scammed. Typically the dealer(s) and/or the Pit Bosses are in on it, especially if they know they're not getting promoted to a better job (the pay on the floor is TERRIBLE), and Security is on the lookout for these hustles.
No, actually, casinos are actually quite fair in their dealings usually. They give you games where the odds can be calculated. Do you know what the stock market is? The stock market is like a blackjack game where the dealer deals you blank cards, and then THEY decide whether you won or lost and how much, because THEY, the house, your enemy, decides what it's worth.
I once had to have the casino review the camera because the dealer got my hand signal wrong. She was going way too fast and actually hit my hand with the card as I was waving it to stand. The card busted me, and I held my hand over the table, palm down, saying I was standing on that one. They called over the pit boss and the dealer admitted she may have mis--read the signal. So he reviewed it and paid me for the win.
As a dealer i've had players make confusing hand signals. Make clear signals and there won't be mistakes. Also if you change your play style that may make the dealer at your table mis-read a signal. Just make sure you're clear with what you want.
@@brentfarvors192 If you're the only one at the table then sure, but if you come up to a table with other players and demand that I slow down my game i'm going to ignore you as they have no problems with my speed and were there before you. If you don't like the speed then either go to another table or tip the dealer and ask them nicely if they could slow down a bit. If you tip them most dealers wouldn't mind slowing it down.
Back in the 80s, A&W wanted to beat McDonald's success on the quarter pounder. They came up with the third-pound burger. Cost the same, had more meat and was rated better in blind tests. The burger was a complete failure. More than half the customers in focus groups would remark: "Why would we pay the same amount for a third of a pound of meat when we could do for a quarter of a pound of meat at McDonald's?"
the 6/5 tip is gold, I didn't realise it altered the odds so much. Blackjack is fun but always remember, they don't build and maintain somewhere like Caesars Palace purely by selling soft drinks and $30 room rates. Good see Sam's Town featured in the video, happy memories of a friendly casino.
I went to a different casino recently that I hadn’t been to before and I forgot the others were all 3:2. This was 2:1. Makes a huge difference because even if you bust once and win once, you’re still ahead vs breaking even. So it’s way harder!! Now I’ll always check the odds before I play!
@@johngotone4334 Yea, where's the "8 Things to never do with a prostitute after you lost at blackjack" video? Then they can say "Don't be a dick. It's not her fault you lost, just be entertained".
The even more sad part is that people don't know what is meant by "don't be a dick"... because in most cases, the dick, asshole, moron or whatever other description, don't even know they are the dick, etc! Dunning-Kruger effect.
Alot think that by being a dick they are somehow distracting the dealer and the pit boss. When in reality they are only drawing extra attention and scrutiny to themselves.
As a person who is terrified to play a table because I know I won't be able to memorize the strategies to be played, I greatly appreciate your comments that in the long run sometimes players are hurt and sometimes they are helped by a player mis-playing. Thanks for the great video.
You don't "misplay" a hand. You only need to concern yourself with your hand. Most people are friendly and will understand that you are a beginner. The dealer will answer questions about the game. No problem at all. You'll be fine.
Here's some tips that might help. For strategy, play the simple free online games or apps on your phone/computer(24:7 Blackjack is a good one) and have a basic strategy card open in a second window or printed out in front of you that you can refer to. It's really pretty simple once you play a while. There's only certain instances (like soft hands or pairs) that get tricky about double/split, hits, or stands. As for playing at a table, try to find a game off hours or to the side where you can play against the dealer and no one else. Most dealers are pretty helpful and understanding if you tell them you're a beginner, especially if you tip. Some hands alone with a good dealer will help your confidence with your signals and going through the motions. Don't be afraid to ask a pit boss for what you want. Tell them you're nervous around other players and ask if they can put you with a good dealer for one-on-one. This is probably better requested off peak hours. Finally, have realistic expectations. My goal is to MAYBE win a LITTLE money (if I happen to triple my initial bank I cash out), but in reality, if I can sit for a few hours, enjoy the drinks, watch people, have fun conversation, and break even, it's been a good night.
Great advice and thanks for posting. I might add it doesn't hurt to just stand back and observe both dealers and players at the tables in a crowded casino. I realize the urge to jump into the action is overwhelming but don't be in a hurry especially for a beginner. Also, sip the free drinks and don't guzzle. Never walk into a casino already tipsy.
As a woman playing blackjack with mostly men at the table, it drives me crazy when they tell me how to play my hand because they think I don’t know what I am doing. I have been playing for over 20 years and usually walk away with more money than the ones who keep telling me what they think I should do 😁
Leanne, what you play has no effect on the other player's winnig or losing. I won't go into statistics deeply, but "what you receive as a card is yours, based on a one-time event, when receiving that card". Now whether you win, or lose, is merely "based on the outcome at the table(dealer)". You have no effect on the other's and they have no effect on you. So play as you want and ignore them.
Oh my God are you me? Half the time I've been playing blackjack longer than they've been alive and those old stogie fogies have a third of the chips I have in front of me after winning after they yell at me about how I'm playing. It actually ruins this game for me. Dear men please don't mansplain blackjack to women. We know how to play, I've actually won tournaments okay?
You forgot: 1) Don't draw a gun at table. 2) Don't use a hammer to split your cards. 3) Don't eat the cards. 4) Don't jump on the table. 5) Don't urinate on the dealer. 6) Don't kill the pit boss. 7) Don't set fire to the casino. 8) Don't headbutt other players.
Im glad that you guys talked about some people being mean at the table. I played it for the first time at the casino and some addicts were just mad at me for the way I was playing. Glad I’m not the only person 😅
Oscar Meneses . That happened to me in Vegas during my sole trip to the US in 05. Rank amateur player (still am) and apparently I was buying when I shouldn't have and vise versa, and some of the other players got very shitty with me, and some of them actually left the table while making some very unflattering remarks to me.
I love that the casinos sell the basic strategy guides. They happily encourage you to try to think that you are understand when you really don't. They will occasionally lose money to a card counter, but it will usually pale in comparison to the money they get from people who think they can count and people who think they understand basic strategy but don't, or at least don't for that particular setup.
Someone tried to yell at me for 'taking the dealer's card' and the lady next to me chewed him out saying 'It's just a game. If you don't want to risk losing money don't play!' Now I always stand up for people who are being bullied at the table.
I disagree. Blackjack tables, especially at low minimum tables, tend to be extremely crowded. Crapping your pants is a great way to gain some valuable personal space back.
If you ever begin to believe that people are generally nice and decent, spend 30 minutes at a blackjack table as a novice player. You will promptly be reminded that most folks are horrible people.
Here's the thing I've been playing EXCLUSIVELY Blackjack or Spanish 21 for at least 10 years for profit (i.e. at casinos) and generally speaking people ARE nice BUT you catch a bad table with bad shoe after bad shoe people want someone to blame rightly or wrongly and the buck generally stops with 3 people depending on the situation 1. The dealer for dealing 2. The cutter or 3. The newest guy/gal and sometimes its completely justified for the last. If you split 10s against a 10 that's dumb and you're playing for yourself and you deserve abuse for it...it took me a lot losses to figure splitting 10s was dumb and I got shit for it everytime I did it eventually I evolved as a player to never do it.
People who don't know how to play can easily make a bad move that will affect the other players at the table. I agree there are some jerks at the tables but if everyone plays the right way there's no reason for players being mad at other players.
I was so stoned on opium that I got up from the table, vomited at the door to the men's room, kept walking and washed up at the first sink, then stepped back out in time to regain my seat, place a fat bet, and split a pair of aces. Oohh, Las Vegas!
Thank you for that last point! It does not matter if there is a bad player at your table. His/her bad play will just as often help you as hurt you. My friend and I were counters several decades ago. He was a math major and did extensive studies on blackjack stats. It did not take long for the stats to bear out, that bad players had zero outcome for other players.
I've worked in the casino for 25 years. It is the most difficult thing to explain to people that how other people play their hands has absolutely no impact on my odds (over the long run). I will play my hand to the best odds, play yours any way u want, I don't care. It doesn't matter so all you people yelling at others for their play....shut up, your stupid.
Remember the movie casino when Robert Deniro caught the guy cheating, you can leave with the money or you can leave with your hands, but you can't leave with both
Reno blackjack used to emphasize using fewer decks than 4! So when I played at Vegas I used the basic card counting & won some with tables of less decks more so by varying the bet sizes! But that was in the 80s! Thanks for your info!
I wish you included "don't split 10's" I know, people should do what they want to do but there's so many who just don't get it. 20 is the 2nd best hand you can possibly get. Don't throw It away because you think you're going to get two more good hands out of it.
Technically if the true count gets past 4, you should split them against a 6, if it's over 5 you should against a 5, and if it's over 6 you should split them against a 4..... but I have never done this, because that's when I'll already be betting big, and I don't need to raise the standard deviation of the outcome a lot to get a marginal increase in expected return, and also alert the house to what I'm doing in the process thankyouverymuch.
You're right, obviously, but see #8. Let people play the way they want to play. It doesn't change your odds at all, no matter how much it feels like it does.
Splitting 10's has always been a greedy move. If you are dumb enough to do that at a full table - you deserve all the shiiit that is going to come your way. One on one against the dealer, that's a different story.
I once split tens against a dealer and it change the whole complexion of the game to the better for me....but I was playing heads up against the dealer..
I learned all of this within my first couple of days in Reno. If you have never been, this is all good info to have beforehand. I lived there for the better part of a year and really enjoyed blackjack. I didn't 'win' but I found it to be a very even game, with plenty of drinks being served that gave me good entertainment value for what I left behind. Look for single deck shoes, hand shuffled, with friendly dealers. Not sure if that even exists anymore (25 years since I was there) but they make their money by giving you lots of drinks to throw off your game. It worked, but I paid less to drink at a blackjack table than I would have in a bar in Canada and met more interesting peeps.
It's been a few years since I've been to Reno, but then it was one of the last places in the USA with full pay (3:2) single deck. It was mostly dealer hit oft 17, with doubling allowed on 10 or 11 only, which has a pretty high house edge for basic strategy, but it was very countable.
Here is another thing never to do: Get so drunk that you fall off your chair, dropping your chips and cards on the floor. LVMPD escorted me out of Harrahs for that one.
Also. dont walk behind ropes in hope to get to the bathroom faster to take a drunk piss. the security guard will wait for you to get out to ban you for the night.
then grab a drink and ignore the rule until you have downed at least ten drinks, by then the tits will look like part of the uniform and by then its time to wonder why you are sitting at this table anyways?
I was a dealer way back in 1978. I had drinks thrown in my face, I've been spit on, I had ashtrays thrown at me and all kinds of other crazy things happen.
I have the ultimate strategy for winning at casinos. Here it is: When playing Roulette only put your chips on the number that the little ball lands on. When playing poker only play a hand that will beat all the others. When playing blackjack get cards that equal more than the dealer without going over 21.
Thank you for the last 2:30 min of this video. Those few things are why I rarely play Blackjack. Too many people think you should play like they do. I'm on vacation....if I want to throw my money away on a few hours of entertainment, that's my business and my problem. I hate it when other people think they are going to be able to pay off their house after being that the tables. Great info! Thanks!
I am very surprised to hear that other players are like this and with me being me, with a sharp tongue, I would not have an issue with telling them to mind their own business. I have never played this game, but I know that my chances are statistically low, so, I would play just to have fun. If I lose? Well, I would have budgeted my money to lose anyway.
@@veltonmeade1057 your chances of winning are the highest of any game at the casino. Someone at the table if you have a “sharp tongue” will just respond “you don’t know how to play”.
My first time ever playing blackjack, I took another card and ended up winning but the rest of the table felt I should not have taken that card. I guess I defied the odds or did something an expert wouldn’t do. Three people at my table were visibly angry and accused me of ruining their hand. Eff that. Seriously. If you don’t get to play your hand the way you want, then what is the point? Their #8 was spot on.
We have six different basic strategy charts for blackjack that you can download for FREE! Get them here - www.americancasinoguide.com/blackjack/free-blackjack-strategy-charts.html
You just got a new sub. I just wanted to say thank you... So, thank you! I downloaded the charts. I realize I can get them at the Casino but, now I can study them instead of having to keep looking at them while at the table. Looking forward to watching your next video... NEXT!
I played blackjack 2 different times at the Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood, FL. The first time was at night and I made a little money. The second time was during the day. I didn't know the strategy and basically went with my gut, a lady at the table got mad at me for screwing her up by playing my hands wrong. She left for another table but that ruined it for me.
Let me call this #8b: Going along with your #8, Don't sit at the end seat to the right of the dealer because every player WILL get on your case if you don't play your hand like they want you to. Others at the table can and will also make poor choices, but the person sitting in the end seat will be the one that is ultimately blamed if the table loses.
Good call although I like to take that seat since I would play basic strategy. While some people are pissed if something bad happens most still keep their mouth shut since I still did what was proper. What I don't want is for someone that doesn't know what they are doing to take that seat as then for sure people will be commenting and blaming them every time something goes wrong. I just don't want to hear the whining and complaining so I am willing to take some glances every now and then instead of having a table where everyone is mad.
Excellent video. May I add one other thing to never do. I never make side bets on a hand. Those are heavily weighted toward the casino. I prefer to use that money to double up on 10 or 11 or split aces or 8s.
I am a blackjack dealer for fundraising events. I get hated on ALLOT to where I want to flip the table. LOL Most of the time it is with the drunk people. It is a challenge to keep my cool and I do a good job at it. There are times when I have to say something but the haters will never quit hating. It's always unfair to them. With more advice, I am able to know what to do in these situations.
I was at the Gold Coast in Vegas many years ago playing blackjack at $10-$20 a hand when the dealer told me , “ if I were you I’d be a very rich man “,... I asked why and he said “ you’ve won 17 hands in a row which is very highly unusual , if you were betting progressively you’d have a giant pile of chips in front of you “ ,.... i guess that explained why the pit boss was hovering over us and why they came over and opened a package of new cards .
I was winning all that money when I was homeless, disabled and unemployed. Use your casino card when you play. The comps cone in handy too. The best things in life are free.
Regarding hand signals instead of voice,. Many times I see players using vague hand signals. I keep my mouth shut but think if there ever was a dispute as to if they really wanted to hit or stand
i was in vegas back in the mid 90's, playing black jack at my motel (The Old Town Hall) when one of those mouthy guys you were talking about sat down...he acted half in the bag, complained at the lady beside him for taking his card, a couple times, she went to leave, but i told her to just swap seats with me, i bet, then i proceeded to hit 3 times till i busted the draw, buddy of course complained, i turned in my chair and just "looked" at him, not menacingly just like i was glancing at a wall color, but i never looked away, he bet, then i put down the minimum, without looking away, and proceeded to bust again, he opened his mouth, looked at me, and shut it, if he didn't bet, i didn't if he did, i did, and would eat up cards busting, still looking at him, till after about 15 or 20 minutes, he got up and left the building (i iknow, i followed him out the door and watched him leave, then nodded to security when i turned around, and walked past them back to the table to play for a bit more, the lady had left by then, and i walked away down a couple bills in the end, but the dealer kept grinning everytime i'd hit, and i couldn't stop humming The Carpenters "I'm On Top Of The World" (now if i hear that song on the radio i feel the smile come at the memory...in fact, i'm smiling as i type this)
If you make a non basic strategy move and it favors the players they laugh. Make the same move and it favors the house they get pissed. I've had people try to get on my case for not betting the side bets.
Eric Dizzy many times.. Finally last time I was at the table I told the woman who was lecturing me about side bets are you gonna pay me to bet them? Shut her up fast
Yeah index plays will mess with people like that. Stuff like hitting 12 against 4-6. If I know the count is low like -4 or so and I get a 12 against a 6, I'll be like "alright let's do stupid things." Then I'll hit, get an 8, then the dealer will make a hand, like a 17 or something. Gets others salty but I don't care. As far as side bets go, I use them to keep track of how many hands I'm playing. And they're good to play if you're counting as well. If the count is high and the ace count is low, I'll usually put a lot of money in the side bet (match the dealer at the casinos I play at). Getting a double match win but then losing your 20 to a dealer's blackjack is pretty hilarious cuz you still made money haha.
The last one is sooo true, 40+ years ago i went to the casino and was blackballed from all of them. I was new to blackjack ( and had only been to a casino 2 other times in my life which i just played slots) and kept double downing on high cards, 14 through 18...I did this 14 times and every single time i got the drop card which gave me 21. Along the way, the people at the table kept screaming at me & explaining how i was screwing them. But when i got the drop card, they were like, well thats just dumb luck...hahaha by the 10th time i did it i had 3 pit bosses watching me and 1/2 the table left. By # 14, the management asked me to leave ( with 5 security officers around me) and never come back. Hahahah it was great especially because i had no idea what i was doing and it was all pure luck & just like you said, I was there to have fun. I didnt care if i lost. BTW, i havent been in a casino since & dont gamble but i won 1200.00 bucks that night lol.
Lol this story sounds like one of those fisherman stories where the fish just keeps getting bigger. The odds of this happening as you described is ridiculous. As to kicking you out after only winning 1200 that's nuts. You musta been at a shitty small casino. When I call out double down on a hard hand the pit bosses don't give a fuck. Can't imagine why they would want to kick you out for doing the dumbest thing in blackjack especially for such a small amount.
@@andrewberdahl9922 Very likely this is a post it and run BS story. Anyone that has a clue about BJ knows the math just doesn't work that way. Most casinos would care less about a player winning 1200 because they know that person will come back and lose it all. The only reason I'm wasting my time posting to this thread is to drop the hint to ignore these types of posts.
I was once chewed out by another player for hitting on a card that he didn't think I should have hit on. He was full on yelling at me, saying the EXACT thing you mentioned - that if I hadn't hit, the dealer would have busted. The dealer had to tell him to back down. Didn't bother me any, though. It was my hand and I'll play it the way I want.
Thomas Maresh no one should tell another player what to do. You may have hit on a bust card that odds say you should have stayed on and it may mess up the hand for others. All I would say is if it’s a novice with you just trying to have fun then get up and leave.
Thomas you have to understand you are playing the odds and you are playing as a team. If you hit on 14 and the dealer has a 6 then you will continue to get yelled at. Other than that have fun.
Just tell him the "count" dictates what you do. Lol... actually never say that. Everyone's actions affect all future outcomes, including people that think they are experts. If someone plays perfect basic strategy, their play can cause a bad outcome. Anything can happen in the short term, yet basic strategy is based on long term odds. You can just as easily have caused yourself to win and/or the dealer to bust, but nobody ever mentions or remembers when that happens, do they? Anytime I'm at a table with cranky and superstitious people, I just leave and find a more fun table. People need to chill and have fun... If they stay long enough, they will not leave a winner, guaranteed, no matter how good they think they are. You can play longer, on average (in theory), if you play good basic strategy, but many people giving out advice during actual play don't do that themselves. I see this more at the craps table than I do at blackjack. I never let dealers play my cards for me. The customer (tipper) is the boss.
@@incrediblesulk555 you have to understand that it is unknown what the next card up will be and for all intents and purposes it is completely random. While it's true that a bad play could cost the rest of the table...It's equally likely that a bad play will shake things up and benefit the rest of the table. Maybe you stole the dealers bust card? Maybe you stole a card that would cause the dealer to get 21? Mathematically, other people's play can not effect your actual chances of winning or losing.
If you make a series of low bets, win and lose, and then suddenly make a huge bet you stand a good chance of being asked to leave, especially if you win on your large bet. It's a sure sign of counting and, although legal, the casino does NOT have to let you do it, even if they only suspect it.
Most of those tips that I have if you’re at any casino I’ve ever been if you’re trying to hear what the dealer will twice ask you nicely to stop and if you continue to do it you will be asked to leave so the dealer will pretty much keep you on the up and up
As a dealer, I can say that these are all very sound pieces of advice, especially that last one. I've been flipped off, cursed at, and insulted to my face because of the cards. I've got a pretty thick skin, and I realize that if I'm expecting tips from big wins, then I have to expect some salt from big losses. And I have no qualms about playing the big bad dealer for entertainment purposes. It's a game that's supposed to be fun, and I try to help people enjoy their time at my table. But players forget that we're still people, just like them (and we really do want them to win. It's not like we're playing with our own money, after all). There's no need to be disrespectful or personally insult us over a game that we don't have any control over. Also, I desperately wish that there was a well-known tip rate for dealers like there is in the restaurant industry. When I was a player, I never knew what an appropriate tip amount was, so I would always just kinda guess with whatever small chips I had leftover after I colored up. But for anyone curious what dealers don't find insulting, if you win, roughly 10% of the winnings is a good start (adjusted for level of service, of course. No need to tip the stone-face, silent dealer that didn't add anything to your evening). I can't tell you the number of times a fellow dealer has told me about a $4,000 winner that tipped $3 (or sometimes not at all). In places that pool tips, that hurts everyone. Also also, this should be obvious, but no, shufflers aren't rigged, and yes, I've had more than one player tell me that they are (but they still played, surprise surprise -_- )
I’ve always wondered what the casinos rule was with dealers helping players. I haven’t gambled in years and really don’t have any intention but I have set a tables were the dealer kind of helped me out. I found that pretty shocking but cool!!
I don't like when they say "calculate" a basic strategy when it's based on simulating. Maybe the equations can't be solved but it still bothers me. Also, don't ever split 5s. That could be #9
Thanks guys... going through Blackjack withdrawals here!! It's sad to think that your next video might have to be something like: "8 Ways To Properly Socially Distance Yourself At A Casino" Ugh!
Learned that the hard way. First casino to the metropolitan D.C. area 6/5 or continuous shuffling on 1st floor. Only traditional BJ upstairs, at higher stakes.
Last tip is so true,I sat at a table and after the first hand was delt the guy on my left started blaming me for his losses because If I had not sat down he would have been dealt my cards and it just gut worse and worse. that should have been the dealers card, bla bla bla ,I got up and went to a different table.
Also, don't camp out. I've seen men and women, take a corner seat, and sit there all day and night. They have food, drinks, a bag, wipes, plate, napkins, etc, etc.. They camp out.
@@MrHerse12345 if gambling is your idea of living a little then you live very little indeed. Get out and experience the world and you'll discover how inferior the casino lifestyle is.
Was thinking exactly that when they said not to play at a table with a continuous shuffling machine because they deal 20% more hands per hour causing you to lose money faster. By that logic, as you said, don't sit down.
Absolutely. If you sit down at a blackjack table and you aren't counting cards you're a sucker. I used to play poker at casinos but i'd never touch any other game. I came out ahead too. I used to drive a taxi in Seattle at night. I picked up a fare at a casino and he tells me he won 2000 dollars playing blackjack. I asked him, 'Did you count cards?'. He said, 'Of Course!'
That's right. If the option to sit is there, don't. Instead, stand there and make sure to cast the illusion that your time is limited. It'll help change the pace of the game. It'll help you win too.
I’m years behind, but new to gambling, going to Vegas this summer, how does chips work? Do you exchange your cash for chips at the table? And when your done playing where do you cash your chips back ?
You exchange your cash for chips at the table but you cant exchange chips for cash there. You need to go to the casino cashier to exchange chips for cash. Hope you have lots of chips to cash out!!!
1) if you had a great shoe don't expect the next one to be the same. 2) blackjack is not a consistent winning game learn to cash out because it's much more difficult to push chips forward than to reach in your pocket for more money. 3) whenever possible avoid 5-15 dollar tables (my preference) to many people who are new to gambling and playing is very inconsistent. 25-50 in my opinion are the best tables. 4) if possible play multiple spots to keep the dealer from running a bad shoe this might not work all the time but at least the strategy gives you more flexibility. 5) if you're experiencing a bad shoe just so you don't upset others at the table ask the dealer where can I find the restroom just to shake things up a bit.
Excellent video, thanks! I've never seen the continuous shuffling machine, but it certainly sounds nefarious! My wife and I play a lot of Pai Gow, and a few years ago, it was a very ritualistic game, which included rolling a die to see who gets the first cards. It was much slower, too. Now it's all computer, and while they alternate between two automatically shuffled decks, the computer knows exactly what is in each hand. The dealer can punch a button, and tell you the "house way" to play your cards, without seeing them. Yeah, the game plays much faster than it used to, therefore more income for the casino, but the computer knowing what's in your hand is just creepy!
Yeah, continual shuffling machines are bad news. I won't put it past the casino to use them to cheat players. If people would just stop playing on them, they would go away. But, at some smaller casinos mid-morning on a weekday, these are the only machines available.
The machine doesn't know what is in your hand until all the cards are out and the dealers punches the seat number of the person who is banking into the machine. Only then does it know who has what hand.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.
Ah, good ol' Coach Finstock. Always had some words of wisdom on hand, like, "It doesn't matter how you play the game, it's whether you win or lose. And even that doesn't make all that much difference."
The way I first heard it is, "Never eat at a diner called Mom's, never play cards with a man named Doc and never sleep with a woman who is crazier than you are.
Blackjack played properly gives you best chances of winning at all casinos. I have a different set of rules that I follow every time I play Play basic strategy Never play intoxicated Never play tired Never play with people that irritate you Never play a table where dealer can hit a soft 17 Never play a table where blackjack payout is 6-5 Never lose more than you can afford Know when to cash in your winnings
Years ago, I got 'backed off' at a table in Reno simply bc I drank nothing but Diet Coke with a lime twist...look, I'm a MORMON...ok, not a very good one, bc I gamble sometimes, but I stick to not drinking. And even if I wanted a "snort", I'm not too naive to understand WHY the house offers the "Free" booze..and I want my wits about me, especially if I'm playing at 4:30 AM! I was doing well, but not the huge takes that others in this thread brag about. I'd made about $500 over a two-hour period at a $5 table, and was, as my chips accumulated, "coloring up" and setting my winnings aside, just simply playing with the initial $100 buy-in. After I won a hand by splitting and then doubling, having placed a $20 bet (the count was very high), therefore, getting $80 profit on that one hand, and then, after the dealer shuffles, just playing table minimum for about five or six hands, winning a few, losing a few, the Floor Manager comes over with a large, burly uniformed guard, and tells me that I "need to take a break". At first I objected, as it seemed ridiculous to worry about a player who was still "small potatoes", but then the guy gave me a room comp (it was the hotel-casino we were staying at) and comped dinner at the buffet for myself and my g/f. He assured me that I was still welcome to play...LATER (like not on HIS shift). I asked the g/f what she thought led to my getting "backed off", and she noted that when the deck was 'rich', I was getting a tad "greedy" on my bets (she felt that 3x the table min should be the 'max' bet, and I would do 5x to 10x as I got more into "positive territory", but the table limit was $200, so even then it wasn't THAT outrageous, I thought). Then she noted that although the money management was sound (e.g., setting aside the $100 buyin's worth once I'd doubled it and just 'starting over'), by coloring up it was obvious I was going to take it from the table, and lastly, better to drink NOTHING than to sip Diet Cokes the whole round. This was at a casino that was known at the time for the 99 cent 'breakfast' in Reno...and they had single-deck BJ, though not always at peak hours, and often good luck finding a $3 table with them (good lucking find that low a limit ANYWHERE now). Later on, new management took over, and a lot of the 'bargains' were gone, and like most other establishments in Reno, the games got terrible. We found outliers like in Carson City or Fallon where they didn't do that "Only double on hard 10 and 11" crap.
security keeps a very close eye on THE PLAYERS { Not Me as you suggest in your convoluted comment.. so do not cheat. Besides which I have not been to any Casino either in Atlantic City or LVNV for decades. But I did like the TROPICANA at LVNV.
Excellent vid! I would recommend you add advice about cell phone use and standing/sitting at the table. Also, some casinos will even allow you to put the strategy card right on the table... this can even make you popular as others start asking "what does the card say?" causing the game to become even more enjoyable as players interact in a positive way. Thanks!
Someone did ask me what the card said when he was contemplating an 8-8 split. I already knew from other stuff I read in the past, but I consulted the card anyway
And it’s not a secret, what cards other players have. I only play single or double decks, many time’s they’ll deal the 2 cards both up. And if no one is sitting in the hot seat (last chair), I do. Say Table’s full, 3 busted, 1 split and both hands are in, and 1 has 18,(they’re friends) I’ve got a 13or14 and I stay, Dealer takes a face card and busts. It’s an unorthodox play, still I’m up the .5%. Once, the 3of us were only at the Table, kicking butt, then it’s usually time for new Dealer, but a new player sat at last chair, it was like they didn’t know how to play, and our luck ran out. They had to be playing for the House.
I’m a dealer. You would be surprised at the amount of people who are clueless and they touch their chips once the play is in session, and when you tell them they can’t touch those chips they lash out with “Well I didn’t know!” Well you know now, stop touching your chips! 🙄
Just a comment on "don't tell the dealer - use hand signals". Yes, but as a regular player who plays hours at a time we get tired and some times our signals get a bit sloppy and are misunderstood. While hand signals are required, I find all the dealers I play with also appreciate speaking as well as it reassures us both my hand said what I told it too! I should add I usually play at night with few or no others players and they all know I never take insurance, for example, so waiving off insurance won't count as a stand on my card instead.
The ones that persist in trying to place bets after the dice have gone to the shooter after the dealer has explained to them three times the proper time to place a bet, really annoy me, especially if I'm the shooter
The 8th one is very nice that “MOST” people don’t get is “DON’T BE A DICK” (unless your name is RICHARD). Gambling is for FUN, DON’T MAKE IT A HABIT. IT EITHER YOU HAVE LUCK OR YOU GET FUCKED. GO BIG OR GO HOME.
I avoided blackjack for years because of "experts" that would get pissed at you if you made a wrong play. I've found the dealer will in advise. That's the most fun I've had at a blackjack table, a great dealer who will teach you the game as you play. I've also found anytime I played, which isn't regular is that there are plenty of fellow players who are happy to advise. If you get one prima donna that is stuffy and others want to help, screw him.
As a blackjack dealer. The continuous shuffler has 6 decks and I've given out the same amount of good hands vs bad hands with a continuous shuffler as a regular shoe.
I mean, of course. That's obvious. The point is, as he said is, more hands = more money for casino. And you can't count against a CSM. Yeah, same distribution of hands, but a counter will just increase their bets in a rich deck to increase their EV. Can't do that with a CSM
I always have a great time playing blackjack, it's really a shame #8 has to be said. Losing in cards is ok, it's just for fun afterall. Don't expect your rent getting paid for gambling, just spend what you can afford.
Very good tips.. first and only hand I played in a tiny Vegas casino my cousin and I got the dealer in trouble with the pit boss. Dealer was very nice, tried to correct us, but obviously the house has no proof we've never played at a real casino. We touched them with both hands. I think we may have said hit or stand as well.
The only times I've been "irrigated" (to quote Norm Crosby and Moe of the 3 Stooges) by other gamblers at the Blackjack table is when the person at Third Base is clueless. But I just get up and leave for another table.
You are correct. We should have added never make the insurance bet, unless you are counting cards and know there is a high count. Henry Tamburin did a video on why you should never make the insurance bet and you can see it here - ua-cam.com/video/01ZcTBgGN6M/v-deo.html
I figured that never take insurance goes hand in hand with basic strategy. My basic strategy cards all say “never take insurance, never take even money” on them
Last time I was in Vegas I saw this happen a couple of times: I approach a $10 minimum table and see that the game plays 6:5 so I don't play. I watch a couple of hands and notice some clueless players are betting $40 and $50 a hand at that table. You walk about 100 ft over to the $25 minimum tables and you see that those pay 3:2.
Watch this video for an explanation - Why You Should Never Play 6-to-5 Blackjack With Blackjack Expert Henry Tamburin - ua-cam.com/video/svNgCBG2LUE/v-deo.html
Not a bad video but leaves out a lot- Never play hard 16 against a 10 if the casino offers surrender (which many don't). You really don't want to play this hand. Never take insurance (sucker bet).
Good point. 6:5 Blackjack raises the house edge to close to 2%, even when playing perfect basic strategy. This is something you don't want to do. The OYO Casino (formerly Hooters) in Las Vegas (on E. Tropicana Ave near the Strip) offers a single 6:5 Blackjack table with a $1 minimum wager. While I can understand the logic used by the house here, the 6:5 tables are appearing in other On-Strip casinos where the minimum wagers are real money ($10, $25). This is not a good trend.
Decades ago playing Blackjack was a lot of fun what with people talking at the table and bantering with the dealer. And even asking for advice from others. I personally liked to pick up my cards and actually state Hit Me or Stand or Double Down. Most people don't cheat and simply want to have a good time. Now it seems like a cold unfriendly game as you guys describe it. I don't want to play Blackjack anymore with these rules.
Nice video. A good way to clear the table of obnoxious players is split tens. Always works! Also remember basic strategy works many times, but not always.
I've gotten plenty of dirty looks hitting my 12 against the dealer's 2 or 3. Also, I've benefited from another player's poor play as much as I've lost from another player's poor play.
If you get a dirty look for that hit it just means they don't actually know "the book." I've even had a few dealers be like: "If you need advice, just ask." Then later I'll ask if I should hit a certain soft hand amd they'll be like: "Uh, I actually don't know the book to this game."
That's actually the correct play. If you want to hear screaming, play your hunch by standing on a 16 versus a dealers 10. Oh the howls, you think I was murdering their dog.
Try doubling down on 12 when the dealer has 4, 5 or 6, the dealers will call the pit boss over to check your ID because he thinks you’re counting cards and will stand there staring at you for the next hour if you win.
You left one out that I live by. NEVER stay at a table when you spot a player that knows nothing about the game. Just get up and move on - there a lots of table out there.
Was about to post the same...If you visit a casino, try to seat as many "friends"...That know the game. What they don't mention is that there really is a HUGE house advantage to a player that unnecessarily eats cards...Likewise, a player advantage to a group that knows how to eat cards properly...
I dealt blackjack and pai gow for fifteen years in Vegas, this is all excellent practical advice. Yep, I dealt to many of those nasty people, and a lot of good folks too.

Great guidance on the basics guys!!

I have a 3:2 table minimum $10 and I’m pretty good I usually start with $40 and go to $200 then cash out and rinse

lol... Casinos are worried about being robbed while they are in the process of robbing everyone else. Priceless.
You'd be surprised how often Casino's get scammed. Typically the dealer(s) and/or the Pit Bosses are in on it, especially if they know they're not getting promoted to a better job (the pay on the floor is TERRIBLE), and Security is on the lookout for these hustles.
since you know that then don't go in and become a "victim"
No, actually, casinos are actually quite fair in their dealings usually. They give you games where the odds can be calculated. Do you know what the stock market is? The stock market is like a blackjack game where the dealer deals you blank cards, and then THEY decide whether you won or lost and how much, because THEY, the house, your enemy, decides what it's worth.
I often wondered why people still go into these places knowing well that these games are all guided for the casino to win
Just ask Ivey the SCREWED him Out of 18 Million
I once had to have the casino review the camera because the dealer got my hand signal wrong. She was going way too fast and actually hit my hand with the card as I was waving it to stand. The card busted me, and I held my hand over the table, palm down, saying I was standing on that one. They called over the pit boss and the dealer admitted she may have mis--read the signal. So he reviewed it and paid me for the win.
Mistakes happen.
@@billrobertson5895 Bad dealers happen...Just remember, YOU set the speed of the game, NOT THEM!
At the very least they did something about it. A good amount of casinos wouldn't give a fuck unless you threatened to sue them for fraud.

6 to 5 will work better in my transmission than in blackjack

the 6/5 tip is gold, I didn't realise it altered the odds so much.

@@sunnyscott4876 unfortunately I've had different experiences I guess that remains 1 of the many many reasons I don't care for that many people
Here's some tips that might help.

I have been playing for over 20 years and usually walk away with more money than the ones who keep telling me what they think I should do 😁
Great job one then, some women play better
Leanne, what you play has no effect on the other player's winnig or losing. I won't go into statistics deeply, but "what you receive as a card is yours, based on a one-time event, when receiving that card". Now whether you win, or lose, is merely "based on the outcome at the table(dealer)". You have no effect on the other's and they have no effect on you. So play as you want and ignore them.

NEVER split 10's regardless of the dealers up card.
@@russlehman2070 vegas has 3:2 blackjack just have to walk a short distance off strip

I was a dealer way back in 1978. I had drinks thrown in my face, I've been spit on, I had ashtrays thrown at me and all kinds of other crazy things happen.
So many comments about not gambling or betting lol why ya even watching a vid about blackjack strategies?
Great video guys! I've been dealing cards in a rural area in Oklahoma for a long time, and y'all nailed it.
Great info! Thanks!
AMEN!!!

I hate that stance. I am well aware of basic strategy but I will split 10s of the dealer card is not showing advantage. People hate that lol
I have always referred to that seat as 3rd base.
I love sitting at 3rd base. No one has ever given me a hard time
It's first base by the shoe that I always get the stupid remarks of the knuckleheads that go down the line after me.
Excellent video. May I add one other thing to never do. I never make side bets on a hand. Those are heavily weighted toward the casino. I prefer to use that money to double up on 10 or 11 or split aces or 8s.
absolutely 100% the correct play
I know the side bets are supposed to be sucker bets, but almost half the time, I win just as much on the side bets as I do with blackjack.
@@lisachauvin but the other half of the time you are losing more in the side bets.

And you can deal everyone a winning hand of 21
Casinos worried about you ripping them off when they're doing all the ripping.🙄
Yes, ripping is their job.
I have seen players try to cheat many times at these games. I cannot say that I have once seen the casino try to do so.😎
I am a blackjack dealer for fundraising events.

Did people try to get on your case? They tried but didn't succeed
Eric Dizzy
It's your money and your bet. So just tell the others to shut up.
Side bets are sucker bets! (I was a surveillance operator for 10 years).
Must have been rich with low cards and luck....
Great story that never happened
We bought the book, well worth the money. There are so many good things to make your gambling experience better.
Exact same thing happened to me. I told him to play his cards and I'll play mine and to stfu. I don't take bullying from anyone.

If you make a series of low bets, win and lose, and then suddenly make a huge bet you stand a good chance of being asked to leave, especially if you win on your large bet. It's a sure sign of counting and, although legal, the casino does NOT have to let you do it, even if they only suspect it.
I am no card counter as I can’t keep track of all of them, but I do this sometimes only because I want to bet a little more.
Thank you for this video, so helpful - being a first time table gamer is nerve wracking!
Also also, this should be obvious, but no, shufflers aren't rigged, and yes, I've had more than one player tell me that they are (but they still played, surprise surprise -_- )
bro your whining about bad customers it happens at every job not just yours so big whoopty do someone cursed at you.
I’ve always wondered what the casinos rule was with dealers helping players. I haven’t gambled in years and really don’t have any intention but I have set a tables were the dealer kind of helped me out. I found that pretty shocking but cool!!
So tip your dealer unless he is professional and focused? Ok pal
Too bad you’ve got to pool your tips, really not fair for the likable dealers.

#1 Thing not to do at a blackjack table...sit down.
Double down winner!!!!
Right on! Hit the nail right on the head!
Best advice: take whatever you've budgeted for "gambling", hand it to the pit boss, and go see a movie.
The BJ dicks are even online ^ damn
For me, it's women with visible tattoos and or those who color their hair or shave it
The way I first heard it is, "Never eat at a diner called Mom's, never play cards with a man named Doc and never sleep with a woman who is crazier than you are.

#1 Do not drink the free booze. I only have water when I am at the table
And the security keeps a very close eye on you so do not cheat
Douglas Self I’ve lived in Reno, Vegas all over Nevada but I prefer Laughlin. Quiet loose friendly and very little vice.
How about a similar one for Craps? Keep up the great work guys!
If there's a bunch of smiling and laughing people hop in. If the opposite run.
Great advice to know in the casinos.
Never stand with a hand of A-5. Believe it or not, I've actually seen people do that.
You guys should do this for the Craps table! So many players don’t know Craps etiquette
Astrosjer Exactly. I can’t tell you how many times I have to tell a player to keep his/her hands outside of the table when the dice are out.
The ones that persist in trying to place bets after the dice have gone to the shooter after the dealer has explained to them three times the proper time to place a bet, really annoy me, especially if I'm the shooter
@@danjones2164 That is SO annoying.
Like when people try to buy in with a huge amount of cash when the shooter is hot
I never figured out Craps past Pass, NO Pass, craps and point.
Why'd you hit that?
Me: said the same thing about your mom.
No insurance
You are correct. We should have added never make the insurance bet, unless you are counting cards and know there is a high count. Henry Tamburin did a video on why you should never make the insurance bet and you can see it here - ua-cam.com/video/01ZcTBgGN6M/v-deo.html
I figured that never take insurance goes hand in hand with basic strategy. My basic strategy cards all say “never take insurance, never take even money” on them
I always take insurance and it almost ALWAYS pays for itself .
And this ain't my first rodeo .
There is a high count and the dealer is showing an ace, it's still a mistake to take even money?
Thank you.
What does that 3:2 mean?
Watch this video for an explanation - Why You Should Never Play 6-to-5 Blackjack With Blackjack Expert Henry Tamburin - ua-cam.com/video/svNgCBG2LUE/v-deo.html
How do you know the pay
Not a bad video but leaves out a lot-
Never play hard 16 against a 10 if the casino offers surrender (which many don't). You really don't want to play this hand.
Never take insurance (sucker bet).
Totally disagree. If you stay on 16 all night you will lost your asssss.
Also remember basic strategy works many times, but not always.
remember, basic strategy works less than half the time. the house still has an edge when you play basic strategy.
If that dealer is showing a four five or six and I want to make a little extra coin I'll split those tens all day long.
You can't stay at a table with a stupid person. They will never learn. Just walk away.
If I play other than basic strategy and I win then it's the right strategy, end of story.
And that's how they open the table up lol
I dealt blackjack and pai gow for fifteen years in Vegas, this is all excellent practical advice. Yep, I dealt to many of those nasty people, and a lot of good folks too.
I never understood why 6:5 was worse until you explained it. I was just taking everybody else’s word for it.
