As a teenager and until one week ago, I used to be addicted to dumping dopamine in my system to experience accessible happiness. The techniques that I used to engage in were extremely harmful to the brain. My attention span wasn't stable and today as a university student, a maintained attention span is a significant characteristic that one should acquire, my dopamine addiction used to make me distant from informative content. I used to be hooked on TikTok and would spend hours watching 10-second videos back to back to the point it ruined my interests. However, an hour ago, I decided to randomly click on this video just out of curiosity from the title. I desperately wanted to heal my mind in order to succeed in life, and let me tell you that this one-hour podcast was worth years of my future. The techniques listed are extremely critical in maintaining a healthy brain and thus a positive mind. Thank you for this guideline and I truly believe that I am from now on, a healed brain.
I hope that you are doing better. You are a wonderful person, but sometimes I am sure that you don't realize this. You matter. Have a wonderful weekend. You deserve it.

Honestly motivated me to make a difference I was in bed for 3 days feeling sorry for myself and I came across this podcast now I’m determined more than ever to start making better life choices
I certainly understand this. Wishing you the best. We are all on this journey together. Reach out if you need to talk...often it is easier to reach out to someone you do not know. You will make it
In my experience that leads to comparison. Be grateful just because that's your life and the things you receive are gifts that you get the chance to notice and put your attention on.
@@hannacarpiog Yes exactly. That's why I was thinking. Isn't it weird that We have billions of dollars a year in the jails and prisons and trillions of dollars a year in the military but still have countless homeless, starving or otherwise endangered individuals?
I'm very grateful for this Life 💖 I have learnt to have less guilt . And time we have here is previous .. I want to have a better outlook on life and try to enjoy smalls things rather than making it so much about you and that made me realize God
I was diagnosed with Trauma since my teenage, spent my whole life fighting ADHD. Also suffered severe depression and mental disorder. Not until a friend recommended me to psilocybin mushrooms treatment. Psilocybin treatment saved my life honestly. 8 years totally clean. This is something that really need to be use globally to help people with related health challenges.
Congrats on your recovery. Most persons never realizes psilocybin can be used as a miracle medication to save lives. Years back i wrote an entire essay about psychedelics. they saved you from death bud, lets be honest here.
Can you help me with the reliable source. I'm 56 and have suffered for years with addiction, anxiety and severe ptsd, I got my panic attacks under control myself years ago and they have come back with a vengeance, I'm constantly trying to take full breaths but can't get the full satisfying breath out, it's absolutely crippling me, i live in Australia. I don't know much about these mushrooms. Really need a reliable source!! Can't wait to get them.
YES.. he’s Dr.raymycology. I have the same experience with anxiety, depression, PTSD and addiction and Mushrooms definitely made a huge huge difference to why am clean today
I hate that psilocybin gets grouped with drugs like cocaine and heroin. Mushrooms are a remedy, not a vice! I went on a microdose treatment for a couple of months and within the first week, every sight of a cigarette got me questioning why I was doing all that to myself. It really works.
I am crying right now , because this podcast this doctor what he taught here made so much sense in my life , may God bless you both , for teaching and caring about people . 🙏🏻 I will watch this over and over again , I will make notes and I will practice I will change ❤. Thank you so much !
Do you believe that they willingly to murder me whom supported them at Ukraine war because they want the Vatican Nation to dominate the whole world. Hey Zuckerberg, why don't you stop your business with Asia, Middle East, and Africa?? Go back to South America , North America or Vatican country do business with them? Don't steal our money and power up your God darn Holy Pope Francisco to us.. You have to answer with the public what is wrong that you suspending my Facebook account permanently . When I saw the Vatican country does not say sorry to us after they have done bad with Tibetan people . Or isn't it a future purpose for you, Vatican Nation and USA want to dominate the whole world??? Come on, say it. If you don't answer, please stop your business with us. If I'm is You, I will stop my business in Asia, Middle East, and Africa.
I learned so much about my brain and the events that figuratively or maybe literally shaped my brain, had me in tears. I'm too old to dwell on or change the past. My now goal is to love my brain by adjusting my health habits, food, exercise, thoughts etc. thank you both.
Totally random, but a lot of those practices are found in Islam. I have found that elevating my spirituality based on science and fact in spiritual text has helped me become a significantly better being. Hope you’re doing great Mike!
Happiness to me is n the present moment. Contentment is what I strive for permanently. I believe environment, outdoor beauty, like a sunset or a sunrise view, or just a view of greenery outdoors can really lightened up my mood. It’s the simple things, stuff that doesn’t cost money that can bring harmony into our lives ! No drugs.
Hi...My name is also Jay. You may never read this and that's ok. I want to thank you for letting me discover me and spread joy to the world around me. I have recently embarked on a self realization journey and randomly found your podcast. You are now easily said, one of the most inspirational figures in my life. I now try to share your words daily and have shared you podcast with others. Visualizations like the story of the architect and the three masons have transformed how I view and operate in my day to day life. Thank you again and peace be with you brother.
I do not know if Jay will read your message, hopefully yes. But his audience is reading you. I can feel the energy and appreciation in your writing. You should be a blogger b/c the way you write touches lives. Tks for your comment, I will look for the podcast you mentioned. If you share a link, it would be great.
"Live each DAY based on clearly defined values, purpose and goals." Everyday healing: Say to myself (first thing!) in the morning: Today is going to be a great day. Ask myself: Is this good for my brain? Is this bad for my brain? Write down feelings (of stress, anxiety, anger) and ask myself: is it true? Write the opposite and ask myself: is it true? Tell myself @ night: (Prayer +) What went well today?
I'm 19 and i am so inspired by this and what's more fascinating is that i did not plan to watch this i just stumbled across it, I am so grateful for today ❤️ what a great way to end my day
I hope that you find that path of choosing to be mentally healthy at a young age so you don't have to be overwelhemed with the challenges we face on a daily basis.
Wow. “When you call someone mental you shame them, when you call someone a brain you elevate them.” Thank you for having such inspiring and eye-opening guests on your podcast, Jay!

On the flip side. Some people are labeling themselves with anxiety and ADHD and OCD. It bothers me when children get labeled this way. Instead of labeling and identifying with these labels...we'd be better to try these brain improving techniques. I think we'll be that much more successful.
Psychedelics are just an exceptional mental health breakthrough. It's quite fascinating how effective they are against depression and anxiety. Saved my life.
Can you help with the reliable source I would really appreciate it. Many people talk about mushrooms and psychedelics but nobody talks about where to get them. Very hard to get a reliable source here in Australia. Really need!
Yes, dr.sporesss. I have the same experience with anxiety, depression, PTSD and addiction and Mushrooms definitely made a huge huge difference to why am clean today.
I wish they were readily available in my place. Microdosing was my next plan of care for my husband. He is 59 & has so many mental health issues plus probable CTE & a TBI that left him in a coma 8 days. It's too late now I had to get a TPO as he's 6'6 300+ pound homicidal maniac. He's constantly talking about killing someone. He's violent. Anyone reading this Familiar w/ BPD know if it is common for an obsession with violence.
28:30 Talking about dopamine. Outdoor exercise provides loads of it riding my bicycle. The sun, wind, breathing, observing nature, and the physicality of exercise is what I get everyday. Plus the neurons are firing throughout the brain giving you clarity of thought.
It's the little things in life that mean the most to me. Seeing and hearing the sound of my wife laughing. There are blessings everywhere I look. I am simply grateful. Angel from The Bay
I'm 46 and have had childhood trauma, choose bad decisions and made excuses, battle cancer so many times,I am on a mission to strengthen my brain and body so I can help others with their journeys, I pass medicine all day and see the side effects it makes on people, people, I am leaving traditional medical as an LPN and learning the natural benefits and ways that were meant to help us and others, love yourself and body to choose yourself instead of the quick fix, which are actually just masking symptoms, thank you ❤

The sadness of feeding school children brain crushing food is heartbreaking. His comment of feeding poor children all this sugar will keep them poor is terrifying considering so many of public schools are Title 1 schools with food assistance programs. There needs to be change.
As a registered nurse who has passed countless medications, I 100% ABSOLUTELY LOVE his purpose! It saddens me to see how easy practitioners will write a script, which never really gets to the root of the cause. He actually prefers to treat the root cause and attempt to change habits first. Best of luck to you Dr. Amen!!
I agree I got an Rx that has been taken off market bec. It causes heart attacks yet...I was prescribed it even though it was it was patented n renamed n approved...😢 Why.......
Stubbornness can be a good thing because ever since I was little I hated taking medicine. I don’t like it now either obviously for different reasons haha but I will not take pain killers or any type of cold medications. I will avoid it whenever I can, food is medicine. If I’m suffering maybe…
ACE test- scored 6 tho some questions I didn’t know how to answer. IE my mom was FIRMLY against alcohol & drugs but drs had her on a vast array of hormones & nerve pills, due to early change of life, which made her 100x worse than normal, for a few years…instead of taking me to a dr for my undiagnosed joint pain headaches etc she took me to a chiropractor at age 9 and forced me to go every week til I was 16 and finally, momentarily, found the courage, and my voice, to beg dr to stop, only cuz I thought he was going to snap my neck, due to severe muscle spasms I suffered from that “just relax” did nothing to help. 🕊️ Hope 🫵 find your precious moments of joy & one day truly heal your soul 🫶
The needle in the haystack of unhealthy western culture. This is a gold mine to living THE GOOD LIFE. Unbelievable how enlightening, positive, and game changing this video is for so many Americans; the most empowering self improvement video I’ve seen for years. THANK YOU, I’ll keep sharing this ! ❤😊
I love what Dr. Amen shared about the butterlies/hummingbirds and noticing the way it feels to hold his wife's hand. Beautiful! Being present in the moment. So good. I started keeping a gratitude journal at night, and it is transformative. I love what he said about habits and the idea of going on a "treasure hunt" each night to notice the good micro-moments of your day. I have also heard the analogy of collecting "flowers" (goodness you notice) throughout your day, and by the end, you have a bouquet! Really good stuff in this interview! Deep diaphragmatic breathing! Gotta do that more! (especially in the midst of stressful day) Love all these nuggets of wisdom. Killing the ANTS (heard him talk about that before) - writing down the negative thought and then asking "Is this true?" then asking if the opposite is true... I want to live in truth! The truth sets me free!
I have never had my eyes opened as much as i did after listening to this .. I’m back for the third time to absorb this info and really take the steps it takes to be happy . To anyone reading this you’re not alone , keep improving yourself and keep fighting ❤

I did EMDR and it changed my life. I grew up with all abuses so I was a massive wreck but now I think about my past and no emotion attached to it! I do love Dr. Amen and you Jay awesome podcast!
It is also important to remember that happiness is not simply the absence of negative emotions. It is also about experiencing positive emotions, such as joy, love, and gratitude. In other words, happiness is about living a fulfilling and meaningful life.

THANKS Dr. Amen for being the ONLY famous doctor who WANTS you to try as much as possible to fix it without just pulling out the prescription pad!!!! I have so much respect for you and I am extremely validated after you just said that again!!!🎉❤
And he sells his "non prescription" omegas in a back handed way hehe and the presenter (so funny) gets the flask out of nowhere as if it was not intended hehe this is just a long infomercial
I am from Syria and saffaron and so many things mentioned here were part of our regular diet. Doctors here used to shrug me off when I say I eat this or I drink that because my mom said it helps and I would list what it helps with. Many doctors shrugged me off and I thought some of what I learned was just not good advice. So, now my mom too is going to have her moment telling me that I should have listened to her all along.
our grandma are always knowing the deep stuff that now market sells us and we buy it expensive in form of pills! it is very sad what our societies have become! my grandma lived till 103 whie she ate everything but never raw sugar she would eat only raisins or honey! she lived a long life wto complaining of even migraine, left us in her sleep her face was like a happy baby! in those days everything was organic !
I am currently at lowest state to be honest however whenever I listen your podcast with amazing people I get or feel so awakened and motivated. I know it’s a long journey but I very much want to bring in lots of changes to myself and help out other people out as well. So thank you Jay Sheytty for your amazing channel and all the people in your podcast. Wish everyone the best who’s wanting the same journey. Peace. 😊
I want to get my brain scanned. After suffering a stroke at forty eight years old, a neurologist took a scan of my brain and said that i had a beautiful brain. I want to see for myself.! This was a good podcast. Thanks.!

This CD has three separate relaxation/meditation sessions on it ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxzpa8CIfZcihW4Z0F_ja0QF3W9KIatrsq guided by a very pleasant and direct male voice. Unlike so many other products of its type, this CD does not have bad synthesizer music, does not feature a phony or affected style of narration, and does not make any bogus claims to be subliminal or to re-train the brain or any of that balderdash. What you get is 1. a guided meditation for getting into a pleasantly relaxed state of body awareness while taking a stroll (superb for those easing back into a fitness routine slowly after an illness or injury) 2. A nice long breath-awareness relaxation session that if followed diligently can put you into very deep states of full-body relaxation and mental calmness, and 3. a buddhist-inspired meditation session designed to help you develop and maintain feelings of loving kindness toward not just yourself and your friends, but toward people you don't even like. The CD makes no claims to be designed for advanced meditators or for buddhists or hindus/yoga practitioners looking for very deep and esoteric stuff. It is geared more toward the average person who just wants to develop the habit of relaxation and stress relief through natural, healthy means. him, if you happen to be reading this, keep up the good work fella, and I love your accent. I would also like to note that I have never fallen asleep while listening to this product. I would like to kindly suggest to the reviewer who said this CD makes him fall asleep, that he might want to get checked to see if he has a sleep disorder, or if he is simply not setting aside ample time for restful sleep at night. A healthy person getting adequate rest at night should be able to go into deep states of mental relaxation without dozing off, if not all the time, then most of the time.
Thank you so much for this video. I'm a mom, and I search every day for ways to do better for my children. I'm feeling sometimes that it's too hard on them to learn how to eat to be healthier in this world. Because other children are eating candy while mine are eating nuts and fruit. Or make them ovoid breakfast cereals and so on. But listening to you gives me the strength to continue because that's what is best for them, even they are complaining about it all the time. Thanks again for what you're doing 🙏

I love that he defines a mentally healthy mind as a culmination of a lifestly of good habits, not just food, not just relationships, not just working out, not just intentional thinking. It all adds up and each factor plays a part in overall health and happiness. I'm inspired to quit smoking and make better choices with my diet!

Two of my favorite guys, Dr. Amen and Jay. Dr Amen saved me (a decade ago)when he said, no you cant, he said in a pbs lecture, referring to indulging in weekend sugary sweets. I stopped my dad's cookies and cracker snacks, it took me 3 months and his cognition improved.
This came to me just when I needed it. I've been struggling so much my entire life but mostly this past month. I "persevered" as usual till I collapsed for the first yesterday in town since my body couldn't handle it all. It was so scary and weird but I really felt like I needed a better way of taking care of myself....then I saw this video Jay Shetty and Dr. Amen thank youuuu❤️❤️
Hopefully young people who are desperate will discover DR AMEN, among others. These functional/naturopathic medical minds reject the abuse by The Medical Establishment & care about results, not money.
Huge fan of Dr Daniel Amen. Been following him for many years. I became a counselor because of him. Using holistic approaches of healthy diets to help clients.
1:00:17 He has explained it so beautifully , it got me thinking what if we started like doing this healthy things first before turning to the habits that gives one a moment of pleasure and damages you later. Wow
I did EMDR for three treatments and it helped so much. It was for my brother-in-laws suicide. Never thought of it for my childhood. So glad to hear you guys talking about the treatment.
I’m truly sorry for your loss. May he rest easy and I’m so happy you found some peace 🙏❤️ If you don’t mind me asking, was it done virtually?. If so, do you have a name ? I’m having a hard time finding someone. Thank you kindly, in advance. Very late response 😊

This was so powerful ... and so practical. I wrote down notes with all of the practical tidbits he provided. When you're in a rut, what to do to get relief is hard if you don't know. I felt that he shared so many practical things to do. I also really love the connection between food/nutrients and our mental well-being.
When you eat junk food it feels good in the moment but it doesn't take long before you feel yuke... This is such an eye-opener, thanks for this! When we talk about our health we talk about our physical or mental health but never the health of our brain!
This is so powerful ❤ EMDR has been life changing for me! I love how Dr Amen is changing the discussion around brain health > mental illness. Our society needs more of this!! I’m excited to read his book!!🙏🤩✨
You can do this with yourself for some effect. Paul McKenna does a lead in through it on a Mindvalley course i listening to. Wow, about Saffron. I have a friend from Iran, once I was his teacher. He married a Dutch woman. In his native country he was fed saffron every week, almost daily. But now in the Netherlands he mainly eats Dutch cuisine. In recent years, my friend has been regularly depressed, while he was once a very cheerful person with a big smile on his face. I will tell him about the healing properties of saffron as soon as possible.❤👌🏻

Being grateful has absolutely nothing to do with what other people have or don't have. It's a personal thing.

I have recently embarked on a self realization journey and randomly found your podcast. You are now easily said, one of the most inspirational figures in my life. Everyday healing:
Say to myself (first thing!) in the morning:
Today is going to be a great day.
Ask myself:
Is this good for my brain?
Is this bad for my brain?
Write down feelings (of stress, anxiety, anger) and ask myself: is it true?
Write the opposite and ask myself: is it true?
Tell myself @ night:

I love what Dr. Amen shared about the butterlies/hummingbirds and noticing the way it feels to hold his wife's hand. Beautiful! Being present in the moment. So good. I started keeping a gratitude journal at night, and it is transformative. A healthy person getting adequate rest at night should be able to go into deep states of mental relaxation without dozing off, if not all the time, then most of the time.

my grand father is already 94 years old and still can remember his mind is very sharp....he used to be an alcoholic during his below 30's but he stopped and since no more alcohol,he always go to the mountains when his still stronger
The dynamic between you two is awesome 😊This was my favorite podcast ever because of what was shared but also just watching/ listening to you guys 👏
I agree about not saying moderation in everything (unless its healthful), but also be kind to yourself when you need support
Yes, I always knew our thinking is generational. I noticed with my children that each took on the state of emotions I had during pregnancies.
I was raised by an unhappy mom and a drug addict dad and short fuse dad, and I now find it so hard to be happy. It takes me a lot of daily mental work to get me to a nice happy level. Thank you Dr. Amen ❤
It’s a joy to hear you both. So informative and great to hear about a list of all his books! My son was on adderall. Now I’ve changed his diet etc.. and he’s really done well! I appreciate your help and the doctors that worked with me!
That's fantastic!!!! Congratulations!!!!
I have it, and so do my son and daughter. :(
I don't expect anything big, but if you found the answers somewhere on the diet you can recommend??? Even if you can't, please know that you have already done enough, you have given me hope that it's possible!!!! Thank you so very much for that!!!❤
Look for a book and information on the gold diet it might help. Good luck.
Thanks Jay this podcast was a great eye opener since I have been suffering from mental fatigue for a long time.
Wow! Talk about a game-changer conversation. Thank you, Jay, for focusing a few minutes on Dr. Amen's newest book. I will be reading it on my next flight. That cover will be a natural conversation starter, and a great way to keep spreading the wisdom of Dr. Amen's information and mission. I have followed Dr. Amen since he talked about the penquin in his office on a PBS special, and he, like you, is a gift to this world.
Thanks, Jay Shetty now I'll get rid of many small bad habits that destroyed my mental health.
I think it’s so important what he said about weed and how it negatively impacts the brain. With it being legalized everywhere it’s almost being rebranded as this harmless thing which isn’t the reality. People deserve to know the truth about how something will harm their brain
You are right, Hibo Ahmed. We have to take care of our brain, mind, spirit and body. If we don't, nobody else will do that for us.
